The war overshadows this first issue of 1916. Wartime effects range from the encouragement of student enlistment to the dwindling number of men available for the athletic teams. Other agricultural articles report on the success of the students at the Winter Fair, the development of the fruit industry on the Prairies, and propagating chrysanthemums. Articles contributed by students include a short story by H. C. Mason and an exploration behind-the-scenes of the dinning hall. The editorial comments on the creation of C. O. T. C. drill training that will expedite students becoming military officers. Campus news reports on the social events of the Philharmonic Society and the creation of the military O. A. C. Company that will form part of the Wellington Battalion. Alumni news provides alumni updates, news on faculty changes, and wartime correspondence.
