Die Integration von Spielelementen ist in der Lehre weit verbreitet. Häufig werden begleitende Geschichten eingesetzt, innerhalb derer Lernende agieren. Bleibt die identifikation mit dieser Geschichte jedoch aus, wird das Lernangebot nicht angenommen und die Lernziele nicht erreicht. In diesem Beitrag wird eine Vergleichsstudie durchgeführt, wobei die Identifikation mit einer realitätsnahen gegen eine fiktive Spielgeschichte und deren Beeinflussung des Lernerfolgs getestet wird. Während die Identifikation mit der realitätsnahen Spielgeschichte höher ausfiel, hat nur die Gruppe mit der fiktiven Spielgeschichte einen subjektiv wahrgenommenen Wissensgewinn erfahren. Objektiv haben beide Gruppen ihr Wissen steigern können und auch die Bewertung der Motivation war fast identisch. (DIPF/Orig.)

Protest against nuclear power plants, uranium mining and nuclear testing played a pivotal role in the rise of a mass environmental movement around the globe in the 1970s and 1980s. Nevertheless, the history of anti-nuclear activism has largely been told from a strictly national perspective. This HSR Focus approaches the phenomenon from a transnational perspective for the first time. Against the backdrop of the debate on transnational history, this article develops a framework of analysis, and contextualizes anti-nuclear protest in a broader postwar perspective. The contributions show that anti-nuclear movements across the globe were transnationally connected. First, scientific expertise and protest practices were transferred between movements, and subsequently adapted to local requirements. Secondly, transnational cooperation and networks did indeed emerge, playing an important role in taking protest to the international and European level. However, as opposed to contemporary rhetoric of grass-roots transnational solidarity, such cooperation was limited to a small, highly skilled and committed group of mediators – often semi-professional activists – who managed to overcome the obstacles of distance and cultural differences and had access to the necessary resources., Historical Social Research / Historische Sozialforschung Vol. 39, No. 1 (2014): Focus: Cultural Life Scripts. While the site occupation at Wyhl in 1975 is usually considered the symbolic birthplace of the West German anti-nuclear movement, it may also serve as the starting point for a transnational history of anti-nuclear protest. Local cross-border cooperation among protesters at Wyhl deeply impressed those anti-nuclear activists in the mid-1970s who considered nuclear power a global problem and encouraged them to take their protest to the international level. The central argument of this article is that protest directed against international organizations (IOs) – notably the European Communities (EC) and the Inter-national Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) provided a crucial catalyst for transna-tional cooperation among anti-nuclear activists. Targeting IOs as the key promoters of nuclear power on a global scale, anti-nuclear activists cooperated across borders organizing protest events. Their goal was to challenge the IOs and win back the public on the issue across borders. Based on multi-archival research, this article analyzes five transnational protest events between 1975 and 1978 in Western Europe. This article challenges the standard assumption in the academic literature on the European Parliament (EP) that the EP only became a more assertive and activist institution after the first direct elections of 1979. Instead, I argue that already in the 1970s the EP was asserting its role as a representative assembly, for example, by trying to promote and shape the emerging environmental policy. The article focuses on the responsible parliamentary Committee on Public Health and the Environment, whose members devoted much skill and energy trying to place the environment on the EC agenda, to influence the new policy, to insert citizens' views into the policy process, thus linking the EC to its constituency, and contributing to the legitimacy of EC policy-making. Clearly, the EP began to assert its role in (environmental) policymaking already well before direct elections, even though it would require further research to verify whether this claim holds more generally.

Background radiation fields (such as Extragalactic Background Light, EBL, or Cosmic Microwave Background, CMB) pervade the Universe. Above a certain energy any gamma ray flux emitted by an extragalactic source should be attenuated by the process γ+ γ(bgk) → e+ + e- pair production. We have considered a scenario in which the photons are partly converted into light Axion Like Particles (ALPs) in the local magnetic field of an (extragalactic) source. Then, while the unconverted fraction of photons undergo absorption, the ALP component travel to our galaxy where is converted back to photons by the galactic magnetic field resulting in a sort of cosmic light shining through wall effect. In particular, we have considered two scenarios: 1) conversion in the turbulent magnetic field inside a galaxy cluster; and 2) conversion of photons in the coherent magnetic field at parsec scales in a Blazar jet. Afterwards, we have also analyzed mock data coming from a hypothetical Imaging Air Cherenkov Telescopes (IACT) array with characteristics similar to the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) and we have investigated the dependence of the sensitivity to detect a gamma ray excess on the magnetic field parameters.
