Abstract

The gap between a superconductor and a permanent magnet varying with time in high-[T.sub.c] superconducting levitation system is studied. The results show that the drift velocity is dependent upon properties of superconductivity, initial disturbances, and applied excitations.

Abstract

The implementation of a non-contact X-Y mover that utilizes single-grained YBCO bulks and their flux trapping character is discussed. Findings reveal that a passive stable levitation is achievable by balancing the gravitational force of superconductor (SC) and the repulsive/attractive force between the permanent magnet (PM) and SC.

The article examines the dynamic characteristics and stability of the high temperature superconducting (HTS) Maglev vehicle model. Findings reveal that lower field cooling height (FCH) brings an operation stability of the HTS Maglev system over permanent magnetic guideway (PMG) at low speed.

The free vibration of the high temperature superconducting (HTS) Maglev vehicle model was investigated to study the dynamic properties of the HTS Maglev vehicle. Results suggest that free cooling height (FCH) is an effective parameter for automatic suppressing of the vibration of the HTS Maglev vehicle.

Abstract

An active-magnetic levitation system composed of a single-grained YBCO high temperature superconductor (HTS) bulk, a rectangular Nd-Fe-B permanent magnet and a Helmholtz coil is examined for controlling the displacement of devices within a micro/nano scale. Results suggest the observation of a linear relationship between the applied current and magnet displacement over a total translation of about 100 [mu]m.

Abstract

A numerical analysis of dynamic features of the levitation generated by an interaction between a high-T(sub c) superconductor is presented and a permanent magnet after the flux creep in the superconductor is taken into account in a macro-model of superconductivity. The results reveal whether or not the flux creep results in a noticeable influence to the levitation of superconductor-magnet systems is mainly dependent upon properties of superconductivity and applied excitation.
