A smoking gun for our current paradigm of the early universe would be direct evidence for the quantum mechanical origin of density perturbations which are conjectured to seed the large scale structure of our universe. A recently-proposed novel phenomenon is that of \textit{recoherence}, wherein a specific interaction between the adiabatic and the entropic sector leads to the adiabatic mode retaining a coherent state after a transient increase in linear entropy. In this paper, we choose the most general Gaussian action and analyze the evolution of linear entropy, complexity of purification (COP), and complexity of formation (COF) to capture the interplay between decoherence and recoherence in this model. In this article, we look at the current bounds on the coupling strength of axion-like particles (ALPs) with two photons in the context of the Randall-Sundrum (RS) model. We relate the coupling strength to the compactification radius that governs the size of the extra dimension in the RS warped geometry model and show how the current bounds on the ALP can be used to derive appropriate constraints on the size of the extra fifth dimension in the RS model. We show that the resulting constraints fail to resolve the gauge hierarchy problem for light/ultralight ALPs and require a massive ALP of at least $m_{a} \gtrsim 0.1$ [GeV] to be relevant in the context of the hierarchy problem when the gauge field is in the bulk., Comment: 9 pages, 4 figures, updated bibliography

This paper investigates the behavior of mutual information, entanglement negativity, and multipartite correlations in holographic RG flows, particularly during phase transitions. Mutual information provides a UV-finite measure of total correlations between subsystems, while entanglement negativity and multipartite correlations offer finer insights into quantum structures, especially near critical points. Through numerical simulations, we show that while mutual information remains relatively smooth, both entanglement negativity and multipartite correlations exhibit sharp changes near phase transitions. This paper investigates the finite-temperature behavior of Conformal Field Theory (CFT) in Rindler vacuum, focusing on the relation between acceleration and thermality in quantum field theory. We illustrate how uniformly accelerated observers perceive the vacuum as a thermal state via Unruh effect, shedding light on the thermal properties of Rindler horizon. Through numerical simulations of the heat kernel, Unruh temperature, Planck distribution, and detector response, we demonstrate that acceleration enhances the thermal characteristics of quantum fields. We propose a low energy model for simulating an analog black hole on an optical lattice using ultracold atoms. Assuming the validity of the holographic principle, we employ the Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) model, which describes a system of randomly infinite range interacting fermions, also conjectured to be an exactly solvable UV-complete model for an extremal black hole in a higher dimensional Anti-de Sitter (AdS) dilaton gravity. At low energies, the SYK model exhibits an emergent conformal symmetry and is dual to the extremal black hole solution in near AdS2 spacetime. Furthermore, we show how the SYK maximally chaotic behaviour at large N limit, found to be dual to a gauge theory in higher dimensions, can also be employed as a non-trivial investigation tool for the holographic principle. The proposed setup is a theoretical platform to realize the SYK model with relevant exotic effects and behaviour at low energies as a highly non-trivial example of the AdS/CFT duality and a framework for studying black holes., Comment: 15 pages, 3 figures

Ultra-low mass primordial black holes (PBH), briefly dominating the expansion of the universe, would leave detectable imprints in the secondary stochastic gravitational wave background (SGWB). Such a scenario leads to a characteristic doubly peaked spectrum of SGWB and strongly depends on the Hawking evaporation of such light PBHs. However, these observable signatures are significantly altered if the memory burden effect during the evaporation of PBHs is taken into account. We show that for the SGWB induced by PBH density fluctuations, the memory burden effects on the Hawking evaporation of ultra-low mass PBHs can mimic the signal arising due to the non-standard reheating epoch before PBH domination. We have discussed in detail how neutrinos produced from inflaton solely through gravitational interaction can successfully reheat the universe. For this, we have introduced the well-known Type-I seesaw neutrino model. Depending on seesaw model parameters, two distinct reheating histories have been realized and dubbed as i) Neutrino dominating: Following the inflaton domination, the universe becomes neutrino dominated, and their subsequent decay concludes the reheating process, and ii) Neutrino heating: Despite being sub-dominant compared to inflaton energy, neutrinos efficiently heat the thermal bath and produce the radiation dominated universe. Imposing baryon asymmetric yield, the $\Delta N_{\rm eff}$ constraint at Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) considering primordial gravitational waves (PGW), we have arrived at the following constraints on reheating equation of state to lie within $0.5\lesssim w_\phi\lesssim1.0$. In these neutrino-driven reheating backgrounds, we further performed a detailed analysis of both thermal and non-thermal production of dark matter (DM), invoking two minimal models, namely the Higgs portal DM and classical QCD pseudo scalar axion. An interesting correlation between seemingly uncorrelated DM and Type-I seesaw parameters has emerged when confronting various direct and indirect observations. One of the fundamental characteristics of slow roll inflation is its generation of tensor perturbations, which manifest as stochastic gravitational waves (GWs). Slow roll inflation results in a nearly scale-invariant GW spectrum that maintains its scale invariance as it transitions into the radiation-dominated era. However, introducing an intermediate reheating phase can modify the spectral tilt, depending on the equation of state governing that particular epoch. These GWs, especially on smaller scales, are anticipated to be observable by forthcoming GW detectors. In this study, we initially delineate the parameter space encompassing the inflationary energy scale, reheating temperature, and equation of state in a model-independent manner, focusing on the spectra detectable by GW detectors such as LISA, ET, DECIGO, and BBO. We also examine the implications for the $\alpha$-attractor model of inflation and explore the observational constraints on $n_s-r$ prediction in the light of GW detection. Then, we point out the probable ranges for various non-gravitational and gravitational coupling between the inflaton and Standard Model particles considering the perturbative reheating. If one assumes PBHs were formed during the early reheating era, such detection of GW signal also sheds light on the probing PBH parameters. Note that for the case of PBH domination, we also consider the contribution of the induced GW due to the density function in PBH distribution, which helps to decode the phase of early PBH domination. We show that quantum circuit complexity for the unitary time evolution operator of any time-independent Hamiltonian is bounded by linear growth at early times, independent of any choices of the fundamental gates or cost metric. Deviations from linear early-time growth arise from the commutation algebra of the gates and are manifestly negative for any circuit, decreasing the linear growth rate and leading to a bound on the growth rate of complexity of a circuit at early times. We illustrate this general result by applying it to qubit and harmonic oscillator systems, including the coupled and anharmonic oscillator. A bouncing Universe avoids the big-bang singularity. Using the time-like and null Raychaudhhuri equations, we explore whether the bounce near the big-bang, within a broad spectrum of modified theories of gravity, allows for cosmologically relevant power-law solutions under reasonable physical conditions. Our study shows that certain modified theories of gravity, such as Stelle gravity, do not demonstrate singularity resolution under any reasonable conditions, while others including $f(R)$ gravity and Brans-Dicke theory can demonstrate singularity resolution under suitable conditions. We compute the relic abundance of dark matter in the presence of Primordial Black Holes (PBHs) beyond the semiclassical approximation. We take into account the quantum corrections due to the memory burden effect, which is assumed to suppress the black hole evaporation rate by the inverse power of its own entropy. Such quantum effect significantly enhances the lifetime, rendering the possibility of PBH mass $\lesssim 10^{9}$ g being the sole dark matter (DM) candidate. However, Nature can not rule out the existence of fundamental particles such as DM. We, therefore, include the possibility of populating the dark sector by the decay of PBHs to those fundamental particles, adding the contribution to stable PBH whose lifetime is extended due to the quantum corrections. Over the last few years, primordial black holes (PBHs) have emerged as a strong candidate for cold dark matter. A significant number of PBHs are produced when the strength of the primordial scalar power spectrum is enhanced on small scales (compared to the COBE normalized values on large scales). Such primordial spectra also inevitably lead to strong amplification of the scalar-induced, secondary gravitational waves (GWs) at higher frequencies. The recent detection of the stochastic gravitational wave background (SGWB) by the pulsar timing arrays (PTAs) has opened up the possibility of directly probing the very early universe. Different studies have shown that, when PBHs are assumed to have been formed during the epoch of radiation domination, the mechanism for the amplification of the scalar-induced GWs that is required to explain the PTA data can overproduce the PBHs over some ranges of masses. In this work, we assume a specific functional form for the primordial scalar power spectrum and examine the production of PBHs and the scalar-induced secondary GWs during the phase of reheating, which precedes the standard epoch of radiation domination. Specifically, we account for the uncertainties in the conditions for the formation of PBHs and ensure that the extent of PBHs produced remains within the observational bounds. We find that the scalar-induced SGWB generated during a phase of reheating with a steeper equation of state (than that of radiation) fit the NANOGrav 15-year data with a stronger Bayesian evidence than the astrophysical scenario involving GWs produced by merging supermassive binary black holes., Comment: 40 pages, 6 figures, 3 tables, published in JCAP

We explore the possibility of producing the observed matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe uniquely from the evaporation of primordial black holes (PBH) that are formed in an inflaton-dominated background. Considering the inflaton $(\phi)$ to oscillate in a monomial potential $V(\phi)\propto\phi^n$, we show, it is possible to obtain the desired baryon asymmetry via vanilla leptogenesis from evaporating PBHs of initial mass $\lesssim 10$ g. We find that the allowed parameter space is heavily dependent on the shape of the inflaton potential during reheating (determined by the exponent of the potential $n$), the energy density of PBHs (determined by $\beta$), and the nature of the coupling between the inflaton and the Standard Model (SM). To complete the minimal gravitational framework, we also include in our analysis the gravitational leptogenesis set-up through inflaton scattering via exchange of graviton, which opens up an even larger window for PBH mass, depending on the background equation of state. In this work, we extend previous results, demonstrating how complexity in an open quantum system can identify decoherence between two fields, even in the presence of an accelerating background. Using the curved-space Caldeira-Leggett two-field model in de Sitter as our toy model, we discover a distinctive feature in the growth of complexity of purification, providing an alternative diagnostic for studying decoherence when the adiabatic perturbation is coupled to a heavy field. Krylov complexity is a measure of operator growth in quantum systems, based on the number of orthogonal basis vectors needed to approximate the time evolution of an operator. In this paper, we study the Krylov complexity of a $\mathsf{PT}$-symmetric system of oscillators, which exhibits two phase transitions that separate a dissipative state, a Rabi-oscillation state, and an ultra-strongly coupled regime. We use a generalization of the $su(1,1)$ algebra associated to the Bateman oscillator to describe the Hamiltonian of the coupled system, and construct a set of coherent states associated with this algebra. We compute the Krylov (spread) complexity using these coherent states, and find that it can distinguish between the $\mathsf{PT}$-symmetric and $\mathsf{PT}$ symmetry-broken phases. We also show that the Krylov complexity reveals the ill-defined nature of the vacuum of the Bateman oscillator, which is a special case of our system. Despite having important cosmological implications, the reheating phase is believed to play a crucial role in cosmology and particle physics model building. Conventionally, the model of reheating with an arbitrary coupling of inflaton to massless fields naturally lacks precise prediction and hence difficult to verify through observation. In this paper, we propose a simple and natural reheating mechanism where the particle physics model, namely the Type-I seesaw is shown to play a major role in the entire reheating process where inflaton is coupled with all the fields only gravitationally. Besides successfully resolving the well-known neutrino mass and baryon asymmetry problems, this scenario offers successful reheating, predicts distinct primordial gravitational wave spectrum and non-vanishing lowest active neutrino mass. We compare the dark matter(DM) production processes and its parameters space in the background of reheating obtained from two chief systems in the early Universe: the inflaton $\phi$ and the primordial black holes (PBHs). We concentrated on the mechanism where DMs are universally produced only from the PBH decay and the generation of the standard model plasma from both inflton and PBHs. Whereas the distribution of Primordial Black Holes behaves like dust, the inflaton phenomenology depends strongly on its equation of state after the inflationary phase, which in turn is conditioned by the nature of the potential $V(\phi)$. We study the spectral properties of two classes of random matrix models: non-Gaussian RMT with quartic and sextic potentials, and RMT with Gaussian noise. We compute and analyze the quantum Krylov complexity and the spectral form factor for both of these models. We find that both models show suppression of the spectral form factor at short times due to decoherence effects, but they differ in their long-time behavior. In particular, we show that the Krylov complexity for the non-Gaussian RMT and RMT with noise deviates from that of a Gaussian RMT. We discuss the implications and limitations of our results for quantum chaos and quantum information in open quantum systems. Quantum information theory has recently emerged as a flourishing area of research and quantum complexity, one of its powerful measures, is being applied for investigating complex systems in many areas of physics. Its application to practical physical situations, however, is still few and far between. Neutrino flavor oscillation is a widely studied physical phenomena with far reaching consequences in understanding the standard model of particle physics and to search for physics beyond it. Oscillation arises because of mixing between the flavor and mass eigenstates, and their evolution over time. It is an inherent quantum system for which flavor transitions are traditionally studied with probabilistic measures. We have applied quantum complexity formalism as an alternate measure to study neutrino oscillations. In particular, quantum spread complexity revealed additional information on the violation of charge-parity symmetry in the neutrino sector. Post-inflationary reheating phase is usually said to be solely governed by the decay of coherently oscillating inflaton into radiation. In this submission, we explore a new avenue toward reheating through the evaporation of primordial black holes (PBHs). After the inflation, if PBHs form, depending on its initial mass, abundance, and inflaton coupling with the radiation, we found two physically distinct possibilities of reheating the universe. In one possibility, the thermal bath is solely obtained from the decay of PBHs while inflaton plays the role of dominant energy component in the entire process. In the other possibility, we found that PBHs itself dominate the total energy budget of the Universe during the course of evolution, and then its subsequent evaporation leads to radiation dominated universe. We are in the era of precision cosmology which offers us a unique opportunity to investigate beyond standard model physics. Toward this endeavor, inflaton is assumed to be a perfect new physics candidate. In this submission, we explore the phenomenological impact of the latest observation of PLANCK and BICEP/$Keck$ data on the physics of inflation. We particularly study three different models of inflation, namely $\alpha$-attractor E, T, and the minimal plateau model. We further consider two different post-inflationary reheating dynamics driven by inflaton decaying into bosons and fermions. Given the latest data in the inflationary $(n_s-r)$ plane, we derive detailed phenomenological constraints on different inflaton parameters and the associated physical quantities, such as inflationary $e$-folding number, $N_{ k}$, reheating temperatures $T_{\rm re}$. Apart from considering direct observational data, we further incorporate the bounds from primordial gravitational waves (PGWs) and different theoretical constraints. In this paper, we extensively analyzed the reheating dynamics after inflation and looked into its possible implication on dark matter (DM) and inflaton phenomenology. We studied the reheating through various possible channels of inflaton going into massless scalars (bosonic reheating) and fermions (fermionic reheating) via non-gravitational and gravity-mediated decay processes. We further include the finite temperature effect on the decay process. Along with their precise roles in governing the dynamics, we compared the relative importance of different temperature-corrected decay channels in the gradual process of reheating depending on the reheating equation of state (EoS), which is directly related to inflaton potential. Particularly, the universal gravitational decay of inflaton is observed to play a very crucial role in the reheating process for a large range of inflaton decay parameters. For our study, we consider typical $\alpha$-attractor inflationary models. We further establish the intriguing connection among those different inflaton decay channels and the CMB power spectrum that can have profound implications in building up a unified model of inflation, reheating, and DM. We analyze both fermion and scalar DM with different physical processes being involved, such as gravitational scattering, thermal bath scattering, and direct inflaton decay. Gravitational decay can again be observed to play a crucial role in setting the maximum limit on DM mass that has already been observed earlier in the literature [52]. We develop computational tools necessary to extend the application of Krylov complexity beyond the simple Hamiltonian systems considered thus far in the literature. As a first step toward this broader goal, we show how the Lanczos algorithm that iteratively generates the Krylov basis can be augmented to treat coherent states associated with the Jacobi group, the semi-direct product of the 3-dimensional real Heisenberg-Weyl group $H_{1}$, and the symplectic group, $Sp(2,\mathbb{R})\simeq SU(1,1)$. Such coherent states are physically realized as squeezed states in, for example, quantum optics. With the Krylov basis for both the $SU(1,1)$ and Heisenberg-Weyl groups being well understood, their semi-direct product is also partially analytically tractable. In this paper, we compare the saturation time scales for complexity, linear entropy and entanglement negativity for two open quantum systems. Our first model is a coupled harmonic oscillator, where we treat one of the oscillators as the bath. The second one is a type of Caldeira Leggett model, where we consider a one-dimensional free scalar field as the bath. Using these open quantum systems, we discovered that both the complexity of purification and the complexity from operator state mapping is always saturated for a completely mixed state. More explicitly, the saturation time scale for both types of complexity is smaller than the saturation time scale for linear entropy. The discovery and characterization of hot and dense QCD matter, known as Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP), remains the most international collaborative effort and synergy between theorists and experimentalists in modern nuclear physics to date. The experimentalists around the world not only collect an unprecedented amount of data in heavy-ion collisions, at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) in New York, USA, and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland but also analyze these data to unravel the mystery of this new phase of matter that filled a few microseconds old universe, just after the Big Bang. In the meantime, advancements in theoretical works and computing capability extend our wisdom about the hot-dense QCD matter and its dynamics through mathematical equations. The exchange of ideas between experimentalists and theoreticians is crucial for the progress of our knowledge. The motivation of this first conference named "HOT QCD Matter 2022" is to bring the community together to have a discourse on this topic. In this article, there are 36 sections discussing various topics in the field of relativistic heavy-ion collisions and related phenomena that cover a snapshot of the current experimental observations and theoretical progress. A number of recent works have argued that quantum complexity, a well-known concept in computer science that has re-emerged recently in the context of the physics of black holes, may be used as an efficient probe of novel phenomena such as quantum chaos and even quantum phase transitions. In this article, we provide further support for the latter, using a 1-dimensional p-wave superconductor - the Kitaev chain - as a prototype of a system displaying a topological phase transition. The Hamiltonian of the Kitaev chain manifests two gapped phases of matter with fermion parity symmetry; a trivial strongly-coupled phase and a topologically non-trivial, weakly-coupled phase with Majorana zero-modes. We show that Krylov-complexity (or, more precisely, the associated spread-complexity) is able to distinguish between the two and provides a diagnostic of the quantum critical point that separates them. Our present understanding of the reheating phase is incomplete due to a lack of observations. Apart from its cosmological implications, the reheating should play a vital role in particle physics and inflation model building. Conventionally reheating dynamics are modeled by invoking arbitrary coupling among the inflaton and daughter fields. Such an approach lacks robust cosmological predictions due to its arbitrary couplings and is difficult to verify through observation. In this paper, we propose a minimal reheating scenario where the inflaton is coupled with all the daughter fields only gravitationally. Gravitational dark matter (DM) is the simplest possible scenario that has recently gained interest in the early universe cosmology. In this scenario, DM is assumed to be produced from the decaying inflaton through the gravitational interaction during reheating. Gravitational production from the radiation bath will be ignored as our analysis shows it to be suppressed for a wide range of reheating temperatures. Ignoring any other internal parameters except the DM mass and spin, a particular inflation model such as $\alpha$-attractor, with a specific scalar spectral index $(n_s)$ has been shown to uniquely fix the dark matter mass. For fermion type dark matter we found the mass $m_f$ should be within $(10^4 - 10^{13})$ GeV, and for boson type DM, the mass $m_{s/X}$ turned out to be within $(10^{-8}-10^{13})$ GeV. Interestingly, if the inflaton equation of state $\omega_{\phi}\rightarrow 1/3$, the DM mass also approaches towards unique value, $m_f \sim 10^{10}$ GeV and $m_{s/X} \sim 10^3\,(\,8\times 10^3\,)$ GeV irrespective of the value of $\omega_\phi$. We further analyzed the phase space distribution $(f_Y)$, and free streaming length $(\lambda_{fs})$ of these gravitationally produced DM. $f_Y$, which is believed to encode important information about DM, is shown to contain a characteristic primary peak at the initial time where the gravitational production is maximum for both fermion/boson. Apart from this fermionic phase-space distribution function contains an additional peak near the inflaton and fermion mass equality ($m_Y=m_\phi$) arising for $\omega_\phi>5/9$. Since dark matter is produced during the reheating phase, gravitational instability forming small-scale DM structures during this period will encode those phase space information and be observed at present. We study the complexity for an open quantum system. Our system is a harmonic oscillator coupled to a one-dimensional massless scalar field, which acts as the bath. Specifically, we consider the reduced density matrix by tracing out the bath degrees of freedom for both regular and inverted oscillator and computed the complexity of purification (COP) and complexity by using the operator-state mapping. We found that when the oscillator is regular the COP saturates quickly for both underdamped and overdamped oscillators. Interestingly, when the oscillator is underdamped, we discover a kink like behaviour for the saturation value of COP with varying damping coefficient. For the inverted oscillator, we found a linear growth of COP with time for all values of bath-system interaction. However, when the interaction is increased the slope of the linear growth decreases, implying that the unstable nature of the system can be regulated by the bath., Comment: 22 pages, 4 figures

We study a bipartite version of the Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) model. We show that the model remains solvable in the limit of large-$N$ in the same sense as the original model if the ratio of both flavors is kept finite. The scaling dimensions of the two species can be tuned continuously as a function of the ratio. We also investigate the finite-size spectral properties of the model. We calculate the operator complexity for the displacement, squeeze and rotation operators of a quantum harmonic oscillator. The complexity of the time-dependent displacement operator is constant, equal to the magnitude of the coherent state parameter, while the complexity of unitary evolution by a generic quadratic Hamiltonian is proportional to the amount of squeezing and is sensitive to the time-dependent phase of the unitary operator. We apply these results to study the complexity of a free massive scalar field, finding that the complexity has a period of rapid linear growth followed by a saturation determined by the UV cutoff and the number of spatial dimensions. We also study the complexity of the unitary evolution of quantum cosmological perturbations in de Sitter space, which can be written as time-dependent squeezing and rotation operators on individual Fourier mode pairs. The complexity of a single mode pair at late times grows linearly with the number of e-folds, while the complexity at early times oscillates rapidly due to the sensitivity of operator complexity to the phase of unitary time evolution. We purify the thermal density matrix of a free harmonic oscillator as a two-mode squeezed state, characterized by a squeezing parameter and squeezing angle. While the squeezing parameter is fixed by the temperature and frequency of the oscillator, the squeezing angle is otherwise undetermined, so that the complexity of purification is obtained by minimizing the complexity of the squeezed state over the squeezing angle. The resulting complexity of the thermal state is minimized at non-zero values of the squeezing angle and saturates to an order one number at high temperatures, indicating that there is no additional operator cost required to build thermal states beyond a certain temperature. We also review applications in which thermal density matrices arise for quantum fields on curved spacetimes, including Hawking radiation and a simple model of decoherence of cosmological density perturbations in the early Universe. We study the radiation reaction acting on an accelerating charge moving in noncommutative spacetime and obtain an expression for it. Radiation reaction, due to a nonrelativistic point charge, is found to receive a small noncommutative correction term. The Abraham-Lorentz equation for a point charge in noncommutative spacetime suffers from the pre-acceleration and the runaway problems. Primordial gravitational waves (GWs) carry the imprints of the dynamics of the universe during its earliest stages. With a variety of GW detectors being proposed to operate over a wide range of frequencies, there is great expectation that observations of primordial GWs can provide us with an unprecedented window to the physics operating during inflation and reheating. In this work, we closely examine the effects of the regime of reheating on the spectrum of primordial GWs observed today. We consider a scenario wherein the phase of reheating is described by an averaged equation of state (EoS) parameter with an abrupt transition to radiation domination as well as a scenario wherein there is a gradual change in the effective EoS parameter to that of radiation due to the perturbative decay of the inflaton. We show that the perturbative decay of the inflaton leads to oscillations in the spectrum of GWs, which, if observed, can possibly help us decipher finer aspects of the reheating mechanism. We also examine the effects of a secondary phase of reheating arising due to a brief epoch driven possibly by an exotic, non-canonical, scalar field. Interestingly, we find that, for suitable values of the EoS parameter governing the secondary phase of reheating, the GWs can be of the strength as suggested by the recent NANOGrav observations. In this paper, we analyse the causal aspects of evolving marginally trapped surfaces in a D-dimensional spherically symmetric spacetime, sourced by perfect fluid with a cosmological constant. The norm of the normal to the marginally trapped tube is shown to be the product of lie derivatives of the expansion parameter of future outgoing null rays along the incoming and outgoing null directions. We obtain a closed form expression for this norm in terms of principal density, pressure, areal radius and cosmological constant. For the case of a homogeneous fluid distribution, we obtain a simple formula for determining the causal nature of the evolving horizons. We obtain the causal phase portraits and highlight the critical radius. We identify many solutions where the causal signature of the marginally trapped tube or marginally anti-trapped tube is always null despite having an evolving area. These solutions don't comply with the standard inner and outer horizon classification for degenerate horizons. we propose an alternate prescription for this classification of these degenerate horizons., Comment: 11 pages, 5 figures

We study a model of free fermions on a chain with dynamics generated by random unitary gates acting on nearest neighbor bonds and present an exact calculation of time-ordered and out-of-time-ordered correlators. We consider three distinct cases: the random circuit with spatio-temporal disorder (i) with and (ii) without particle number conservation and (iii) the particle non-conserving case with purely temporal disorder. In all three cases, temporal disorder causes diffusive operator spreading and $\sim\sqrt{t}$ entanglement growth. Inflationary magnetogenesis has long been assumed to be the most promising mechanism for producing large-scale magnetic fields in our universe. However, generically, such models are plagued with either backreaction or strong coupling problems within the standard framework. This paper has shown that the reheating phase can play a crucial role in alleviating those problems along with CMB. Assuming the electrical conductivity to be negligible during the entire period of reheating, the classic Faraday electromagnetic induction changes the magnetic field's dynamics drastically. Our detailed analysis reveals that this physical phenomenon not only converts a large class of magnetogenesis model observationally viable without any theoretical problem but also can uniquely fix the perturbative average inflaton equation of state, $\omega_{\phi} = (p+2)/(p+2)$ during reheating given a specific value of the large scale magnetic field. This observation hints the inflaton to assume the potential of form $V(\phi) \sim \phi^p$ near its minimum with $p \gtrsim 3.5$ if one considers the limit of the present-day strength of the large scale magnetic field to be $\mathcal{P}_{B0}^{\frac{1}{2}} \gtrsim 10^{-18}$ G. We investigate circuit complexity to characterize chaos in multiparticle quantum systems. In the process, we take a stride to analyze open quantum systems by using complexity. We propose a new diagnostic of quantum chaos from complexity based on the reduced density matrix by exploring different types of quantum circuits. Exponential growth in the out-of-time-order correlator (OTOC) is an important potential signature of quantum chaos. The OTOC is quite simple to calculate for squeezed states, whose applications are frequently found in quantum optics and cosmology. We find that the OTOC for a generic highly squeezed quantum state is exponentially large, suggesting that highly squeezed states are "primed" for quantum chaos. A quantum generalization of the classical symplectic phase space matrix can be used to extract the quantum Lyapunov spectrum, and we find this better captures the exponential growth of squeezed states for all squeezing angles compared to any single OTOC. By describing cosmological perturbations in the squeezed state language, we are able to apply our calculations of the OTOC to arbitrary expanding and contracting backgrounds with fixed equation of state. We find that only expanding de Sitter backgrounds support an exponentially growing OTOC at late times, with a putative Lyapunov exponent consistent with other calculations. While the late-time behavior of the OTOC for other cosmological backgrounds appears to change depending on the equation of state, we find that the quantum Lyapunov spectrum shows some universal behavior: the OTOC grows proportional to the scale factor for perturbation wavelengths larger than the cosmological Hubble horizon., Comment: 20 pages, 5 figures. v2: Minor modifications, references

We propose a two-phase reheating scenario where the initial preheating dynamics is described by an effective dynamics followed by the standard perturbative reheating. Some of the important universal results of lattice simulation during preheating have been considered as crucial inputs in our two-phase dynamics. In this framework, detailed phenomenological constraints have been obtained on the inflaton couplings with reheating fields, and dark matter parameters in terms of CMB constrained inflationary scalar spectral index. It is observed that the conventional reheating scenario generically predicts the maximum reheating temperature $T_{re}^{max} \simeq 10^{15}$ GeV, corresponding to an almost instantaneous transition from the end of inflation to radiation domination. This fact will naturally lead to the problem of non-perturbative inflaton decay, which is in direct conflict with the perturbative reheating itself. Taking into account this by incorporating effective non-perturbative dynamics as the initial phase, our model of two-phase reheating scenarios also predicts model-independent maximum reheating temperature, which does not correspond to the instantaneous process. Further, $T_{re}^{max}$ is predicted to lie within $(10^{13}, 10^{10})$ GeV if CMB constraints on inflaton couplings with different reheating field are taken into account. We have further studied in detail the dark matter phenomenology in a model-independent manner and show how dark matter parameter space can be constrained through CMB parameters via the inflaton spectral index. The harmonic oscillator is the paragon of physical models; conceptually and computationally simple, yet rich enough to teach us about physics on scales that span classical mechanics to quantum field theory. This multifaceted nature extends also to its inverted counterpart, in which the oscillator frequency is analytically continued to pure imaginary values. In this article we probe the inverted harmonic oscillator (IHO) with recently developed quantum chaos diagnostics such as the out-of-time-order correlator (OTOC) and the circuit complexity. In particular, we study the OTOC for the displacement operator of the IHO with and without a non-Gaussian cubic perturbation to explore genuine and quasi scrambling respectively. In addition, we compute the full quantum Lyapunov spectrum for the inverted oscillator, finding a paired structure among the Lyapunov exponents. We also use the Heisenberg group to compute the complexity for the time evolved displacement operator, which displays chaotic behaviour. We compute the circuit complexity of scalar curvature perturbations on FLRW cosmological backgrounds with fixed equation of state $w$ using the language of squeezed vacuum states. Backgrounds that are accelerating and expanding, or decelerating and contracting, exhibit features consistent with chaotic behavior, including linearly growing complexity. Remarkably, we uncover a bound on the growth of complexity for both expanding and contracting backgrounds $\lambda \leq \sqrt{2} \ |H|$, similar to other bounds proposed independently in the literature. The bound is saturated for expanding backgrounds with an equation of state more negative than $w = -5/3$, and for contracting backgrounds with an equation of state larger than $w = 1$. For expanding backgrounds that preserve the null energy condition, de Sitter space has the largest rate of growth of complexity (identified as the Lyapunov exponent), and we find a scrambling time that is similar to other estimates up to order one factors., Comment: 19 pages, 9 figures

Gribov quantization is a method to improve the infrared dynamics of Yang-Mills theory. We study the thermodynamics and transport properties of a plasma consisting of gluons whose propagator is improved by the Gribov prescription. We first construct thermodynamics of Gribov plasma using the gauge invariant Gribov dispersion relation for interacting gluons. When the Gribov parameter in the dispersion relation is temperature dependent, one expects a mean field correction to the Boltzmann equation. We formulate covariant kinetic theory for the Gribov plasma and determine the mean-field contribution in the Boltzmann equation. This leads to a quasiparticle like framework with a bag correction to pressure and energy density which mimics confinement. The temperature dependence of the Gribov parameter and bag pressure is fixed by matching with lattice results for a system of gluons. We compute the quantum circuit complexity of the evolution of scalar curvature perturbations on expanding backgrounds, using the language of squeezed vacuum states. In particular, we construct a simple cosmological model consisting of an early-time period of de Sitter expansion followed by a radiation-dominated era and track the evolution of complexity throughout this history. During early-time de Sitter expansion the complexity grows linearly with the number of e-folds for modes outside the horizon. The evolution of complexity also suggests that the Universe behaves like a chaotic system during this era, for which we propose a scrambling time and Lyapunov exponent. We study the connections between three quantities that can be used as diagnostics for quantum chaos, i.e., the out-of-time-order correlator (OTOC), Loschmidt echo (LE), and complexity. We propose a new diagnostic for quantum chaos. We show that time evolution of complexity for a particular type of target state can provide equivalent information about the classical Lyapunov exponent and scrambling time as out-of-time-order correlators. Moreover, for systems that can be switched from a regular to unstable (chaotic) regime by a tuning of the coupling constant of the interaction Hamiltonian, we find that the complexity defines a new time scale. In order for spacetimes with static extra dimensions to have 4-dimensional de Sitter expansion they must have at least positive curvature, warping sourced by the 4-d expansion, or violate the null energy condition everywhere in the extra dimensions. We show how this constraint arises from the null Raychaudhuri equation, and that it is independent of the matter content, the Einstein equations, and is true point-by-point in the extra dimensions (not integrated), setting it apart from other no-go theorems in the literature. We present two previously known examples -- a Freund-Rubin compactification with bulk cosmological constant, and a Randall-Sundrum model where the mismatch between the brane and bulk cosmological constants sources non-trivial warping -- which evade the constraint, and discuss the implications for flux compactifications. We also show that any spacetime with static compact extra dimensions and 4-dimensional de Sitter expansion has an apparent horizon and antitrapped region in the extra dimensions, which may have interesting implications for the dynamics of bulk fields in cosmology., Comment: References added

In this paper, we studied the phenomenological consequences of recently proposed swampland conjecture on the inflationary models though constraints on reheating. If dark matter is assumed to be produced during reheating, the conjecture will provide further constraints on the dark matter parameter space through its current relic abundance. As has been pointed out already and also analyzed in our present paper any successful inflationary scenario is in clear tension with the aforementioned conjecture in its current form. However considering the swampland parameters to be free and constrained by the inflationary observables, we studied in detail its consequence on the reheating and dark matter phenomenology. We investigate the evolution of complexity and entanglement following a quench in a one-dimensional topological system, namely the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model. We demonstrate that complexity can detect quantum phase transitions and shows signatures of revivals; this observation provides a practical advantage in information processing. We also show that the complexity saturates much faster than the entanglement entropy in this system, and we provide a physical argument for this. In this work, we propose a testing procedure to distinguish between the different approaches for computing complexity. Our test does not require a direct comparison between the approaches and thus avoids the issue of choice of gates, basis, etc. The proposed testing procedure employs the information-theoretic measures Loschmidt echo and Fidelity; the idea is to investigate the sensitivity of the complexity (derived from the different approaches) to the evolution of states. We discover that only circuit complexity obtained directly from the wave function is sensitive to time evolution, leaving us to claim that it surpasses the other approaches. We also demonstrate that circuit complexity displays a universal behaviour---the complexity is proportional to the number of distinct Hamiltonian evolutions that act on a reference state. Due to this fact, for a given number of Hamiltonians, we can always find the combination of states that provides the maximum complexity; consequently, other combinations involving a smaller number of evolutions will have less than maximum complexity and, hence, will have resources.
