Östenitik paslanmaz çelikler, düşük sıcaklıklarda bile çok iyi şekillendirilebilirlik, iyi mekanik özellikler ve yüksek korozyon direnci gibi özelliklere sahiptir. Bunun sonucu, tüm paslanmaz çelikler içerisinde en fazla üretilen ve kullanılan türdür. Ancak bu çeliklerin kaynağında birçok problem söz konusudur. Bunların başında, krom karbür oluşumu sonucu ısıdan etkilenmiş bölgede korozyon direncinin düşmesi gelmektedir. Bu çalışma, gaz tungsten ark kaynağı yöntemi ile AISI 316L levhalarda kaynak hatası içermeyen bağlantıların üretilmesini amaçlamaktadır. Bu amaca yönelik, 10 mm kalınlığında AISI 316L levhalar, 2,4 mm çapında ER316L dolgu teli kullanılarak beş pasoda kaynaklanmıştır. Elde edilen kaynaklı levhanın mikroyapısal ve mekanik özelliklerini araştırmak ve karakterize etmek için çekme testi yanında detaylı optik mikroskop çalışmaları ve mikro sertlik ölçümleri gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çok pasolu kaynağın mikroyapısal değişim üzerindeki etkisi ve dolayısıyla üretilen bağlantının mekanik davranışını nasıl etkilediği de araştırılmıştır. Yapılan çalışma sonucunda, kaynak bölgesinde herhangi bir hata gözlenmemiş olup, kaynaklı bağlantının çekme mukavemeti ve uzama açısından sırası ile %104 ve %58 lik bir kaynak performansı sergilediği tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca, ergime bölgesinde ve ısıdan etkilenen bölgede sertlik artışı gözlemlenmiştir., Austenitic stainless steels possess properties such as very good formability, good mechanical properties and high corrosion resistance even at low temperatures. As a result, it is the most produced and most widely used type among all stainless steels. However, there are many problems in welding of these steels. The most common of these problems is the decrease in corrosion resistance in the heat-affected zone as a result of the formation of chromium carbide. This study aims to produce defect-free joints in AISI 316L plates by gas tungsten arc welding method. For this purpose, 10 mm thick AISI 316L plates were welded in five passes using 2.4 mm diameter ER316L filler wire. In order to investigate and characterize the microstructural and mechanical properties of the welded plate, detailed optical microscopy studies and microhardness measurements were conducted as well as tensile testing. The effect of multi-pass welding on microstructural evolution and in turn on the mechanical behavior of the joint fabricated was also investigated. As a result of the study, no defects were observed in the weld region, and it was determined that the welded joint exhibited a weld performance of 104% and 58%, in terms of tensile strength and elongation, respectively. In addition, an increase in hardness was observed in the fusion zone and the heat affected zone.

Arc welding is a widely applied process in the fabrication of stainless steel structures. Various difficulties may arise in joining of these steels, particularly if high heat input is used. The main aim of this study is to evaluate the influence of heat input on microstructure of the joint region and thus on the mechanical behavior of gas metal arc welded AISI 304 L austenitic plates. To this end, AISI 304 L plates with a thickness of 5 mm were butt-welded by employing two different heat input values. Detailed microstructural and mechanical characterization were carried out. In addition, the influence of heat input on the microstructure and joint performance values was also determined. The higher heat input resulted in a complete recrystallization at the heat affected zone whereas the base metal microstructure was maintained in the lower heat input joint. Both joints displayed strength matching within the weld region, thus exhibited slightly higher tensile strength than that of the base plate (102 %).

Low alloy steel plates containing 9% Ni are generally preferred in the production of LNG storage tanks, due to their outstanding combination of properties such as excellent toughness, high ductility and crack re-sistance at very low temperatures. Welding is an indispensable manufacturing method in the production of LNG storage tanks. Thus, there is a need for reliable welding procedures which do not diminish low tem-perature properties of this steel grade. This study introduces the result of microstructural evolution in the weld region and the mechanical properties of the gas tungsten arc welded 10 mm thick 9 Ni steel joint produced by using a Ni-based filler wire, which is widely used in LNG storage tanks. The microstructures evolved in the weld region were examined by extensive optical microscopy and SEM investigations. Mechanical properties and joint performance values of the welded joints were determined by detailed microhardness measurements and transverse tensile tests. Moreover, fracture toughness of the joint fab-ricated was also determined at - 196 degrees C by Charpy V-notch test. (c) 2021 CIRP.

Ancak, bu çeliklerin ergitme kaynağında ısıdan etkilenmiş bölgede karbür çökelmesi, kaynak dikişinde sıcak çatlama ve kırılgan sigma fazı oluşumu kaynak bölgesinde aşırı mukavemet kaybı gibi problemlerle karşılaşılmaktadır. Ark kaynağında söz konusu olan aşırı ısı girdisi bu problemlerin oluşumunu daha da artırmaktadır. Dolayısıyla, bu alaşımların başarılı bir şekilde ticari ergitme kaynakları ile kaynaklanabilir olması oldukça önemlidir. Bu çalışmanın amacı AISI 304 östenitik paslanmaz çelik levhaların gaz metal ark kaynağında ısı girdisinin kaynak bölgesindeki içyapı oluşumuna ve kaynaklı bağlantının mekanik özelliklerine etkisinin incelenmesidir. Buna yönelik, 5 mm kalınlığındaki AISI 304 östenitik paslanmaz çelik levhalar farklı ısı girdisi kullanılarak birleştirilmiştir. Kaynaklı levhaların kaynak bölgesindeki içyapılar ve mekanik özellikleri detaylı optik mikroskop çalışmaları, mikrosertlik ölçümleri, çekme ve bükme deneyleri ile incelenmiştir. They are used widely in several industries such as chemistry and petro-chemistry industries, food processing industry, machinery and manufacturing industry, medical and dental equipments and kitchenware. However, several difficulties such as carbide precipitation along the grain boundaries in heat affected zone, and hot cracking and formation of brittle sigma phase in the fusion zone are encountered in fusion joining of these steels. High heat inputs involved in arc welding may even increase the occurrence of these problems. Thus, successful joining of these alloys using conventional fusion welding methods is rather important. This study aims at investigating the influence of heat input on microstructural evolution in the weld region and the mechanical properties of the welded joints in gas metal arc welding of AISI 304 austenitic stainless steel plates. For this purpose, AISI 304 austenitic steel plates with a thickness of 5 mm were joined using different heat input values. The microstructures in the weld region and mechanical properties of the welded plates were investigated by detailed optical microscopy investigations, micro-hardness measurements, tensile and bending tests. Thus, it was attempted to determine the optimum heat input required for obtaining sound welded joints in gas metal arc welding of these steels.

Ferritik paslanmaz çelikler başlıca alaşım elementi olarak Cr içerirler ve yüksek sıcaklıklarda bile iyi korozyon dayanımı gösterirler. Bu çelikler sıcak su tankları, gıda işleme sanayi, makine ve imalat sanayi, dişçilik ve tıbbi cihazlar, mutfak gereçleri gibi birçok alanda yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadırlar. Bu tür paslanmaz çeliklerin ergitme kaynağında karşılaşılan en karakteristik sorun ısıdan etkilenmiş bölgede kaba taneli yapı oluşumudur. Ayrıca, kaynak işleminde ısı girdisinin aşırı yüksek olması durumunda ısıdan etkilenmiş bölgede tane sınırlarında karbür çökelmesi problemi ile de karşılaşılmaktadır. Dolayısıyla, bu çeliklerin başarılı bir şekilde klasik ergitme kaynak yöntemleri ile birleştirilebilmesi için kaynak işleminde kullanılan ısı girdisinin düşük tutulması gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmada AISI 430 paslanmaz çelik levhaların gaz metal ark kaynağında ısı girdisinin kaynak bölgesindeki içyapı oluşumuna ve kaynaklı bağlantının mekanik özelliklerine etkisinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu çerçevede, 5 mm kalınlığındaki AISI 430 ferritik paslanmaz çelik levhalar farklı ısı girdisi kullanılarak birleştirilmiştir. Kaynaklı levhaların içyapıları ve mekanik özellikleri detaylı optik mikroskop çalışmaları, mikrosertlik ölçümleri ve çekme deneyleri ile incelenmiştir. Kaynaklı levhaların kaynak bölgesinde sertliğin arttığı ve çekme mukavemetinin baz levha düzeyinde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. The most characteristic difficulty encountered in fusion joining of this type of stainless steels is the grain coarsening in the heat affected zone. Furthermore, carbide precipitation at grain boundaries in the heat affected zone may also be observed if the heat input used in the welding process is extremely high. Thus, it is required that the heat input should be kept low in order to successfully join these steels by conventional fusion welding methods. The determination of the effect of heat input on microstructural evolution in the weld region and the mechanical properties of the welded joints in gas metal arc welding of AISI 430 ferritic stainless steel plates was aimed in this study. To that end, AISI 430 ferritic stainless steel plates with a thickness of 5 mm were joined using different heat input values. The microstructures in the weld region and mechanical properties of the welded plates were investigated by detailed optical microscopy investigations, micro-hardness measurements and tensile tests. It was determined that the hardness increased in the weld region of the welded plates and the joints displayed similar tensile strength levels similar to that of the base plate. Moreover, it was observed that increasing heat input negatively affected the toughness of the heat-affected zone.
