Abstract

A study of the dimensions of emotional intelligence (EI) and caring behaviors of nurses is presented. The findings show that nurses EI clarify a significant but unique variance of caring behaviors. The best predictors of this behavior are self-encouragement and self-control against criticisms while high empathy's impact depends on combinations with other EI dimensions.
