Abstract

A recent study conducted at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, examined the reporting criteria for popliteal artery aneurysms (PAAs) using duplex ultrasound (DUS). The researchers found that there is currently no standard guideline for reporting DUS results in noninvasive vascular laboratories. The study analyzed data from a multi-institutional repository and found that PAAs are often not followed at recommended intervals and that important measurements necessary for clinical decision-making are often missing from radiology reports. The researchers recommend standardization of PAA DUS protocols to ensure comprehensive imaging and inclusion of relevant characteristics in reports. [Extracted from the article]
