Abstract

Researchers provide evidence for an infectious cause for preeclampsia by showing that pregnant women with preeclampsia have more CD45RO T cells and fewer CD45RA T cells than other pregnant women. CD45RO T cells have been exposed to some kind of infectious organism whereas CD45RA cells have not. Therefore, a greater percentage of CD45RO T cells means a woman has been exposed to an infectious organism.
