Indonesia with fishery production of 6.3 million tons ranks the 3rd largest in the world (7.95%) and Maluku Province is the 2nd largest contributor of Indonesia's total fishery production. Of the eleven main Fishing Ground areas in Indonesia, three of them are located in Maluku, namely Banda Sea, Arafura Sea, and Seram Sea. Acording to this, the Government began to declare Maluku as the National Fish Barn (NFB). To explore those fisheries potency, as well as to develop businesses in the field of fisheries, various facilities are needed to support the success of fishery businesses to ensure the smooth start of the pre-production, production, to marketing proccess, in this case, it is needed a Fishing Port. One of the main facilities at fishing port is the pier which functions as a place for anchoring, mooring, loading-unloading catches and filling supplies to catch fisheries at sea. The purpose of this study is to assess the suitability of the pier length with the number of fishing vessels entering the Ambon Nusantara Fishing Port and and to assess the capacity and determine the suitability of the currently available pier. This study uses a descriptive method of survey. Based on the calculation of the ideal length of the pier, the current need for the PPN Ambon Pier is 299 m. Can be used for more or less 14 ships simultaneously with the space of freedom between ships is 2.8 m, so the pier at PPN Ambon is still suitable for current needs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
