Objective To investigate correlation between low density lipoprotein receptor (LDL-R) gene 1063A/C polymorphism with hypertriglyceridemia of the crowds in Zunyi population. Methods 1063A/C polymorphism of 99 hypertriglyceridemia patients and 162 healthy individuals were tested by sequencing after polymerase chain reaction. Results There was no significant difference in genotype frequency and allele frequency of 1063A/C locus in LDL-R between t he two groups (P >0.05), but t here was significant difference in the level of high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), TC/HDL C and LDL-C/ HDL-C between AA and CC genotype in HTG group(P<0.05). Conclusion There is no correlation between the 1063A/C polymorphism of LDL-R gene and the incidence of HTG in Han nationality of Zunyi population. However, the allele of LDL-R gene can affect total cholesterol(TC ) and LDL-C levels in the blood. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
