The origin of magmatic microgranular enclaves has been investigated in the Mesoproterozoic granitoid Krasnopol intrusion (1.5 Ga), part of the AMCG (anorthosite–mangerite–charnockite–granite) Mazury Complex in the East European Craton (NE Poland). The granitoids are ferroan and metaluminous, and display the typical characteristics of A-type granites, with high contents of Zr, Nb, Ga and rare earth elements (REEs). The enclaves are metaluminous and have a broad compositional range with two groups distinguished: silica-poor (45–50 wt% SiO2) and silica-rich (54 to 59 wt% SiO2), the latter overlapping in composition with the granitoid samples. The silica-poor enclaves are enriched in REEs compared to the silica-rich type, while the silica-rich enclaves exhibit trace-element patterns similar to those of the granitoids. Initial whole rock εNd values range between -3.8 and -4.0 for the granitoids and give a slightly wider range from -2.6 to -3.8 for the enclaves. The 87Sr/86Sr initial values vary from 0.7084 to 0.7138 for the granitoids and between 0.7052 and 0.7075 for the enclaves and indicate that the granitoids and enclaves are not isotopically identical. These may suggest that the two magmatic systems represented by the granitoid host rock and the enclaves, were probably derived from different sources, but with sufficient interaction, which led to a progressive change in the composition of the enclaves towards intermediate composition. We suggest that the mafic melts of the enclaves were generated at the base of the thickened crust through partial melting of the lower crustal source, with a significant contribution from mantle material. Early Paleozoic A-type granites in South China are rare, and their petrogenesis is still highly debated. This study focuses on the controversial Epo pluton in the Wuyi-Yunkai Orogen and conducts petrological and petrogeochemical research to discuss its origin. The Epo granites were emplaced at approximately 414 Ma and exhibit petrological and geochemical features of A-type granites. They contain only one ferromagnesian mineral, ferrum biotite. The granites mostly have high alkalis contents (Na2O + K2O = 6.48–8.85 wt.%), high field strength element (HFSE) contents (Zr + Nb + Ce + Y = 353–461 ppm), and high Ga/Al (104×Ga/Al = 2.50–3.72) and FeOT/(FeOT + MgO) (0.74–0.85) ratios. Besides, they formed under high-temperature (>850°C) and low-pressure (≤5 kbar) conditions. Their high A/CNK (average 1.20) and Eu/Eu* (average 0.46) values as well as Sr (average 128 ppm) and Ba (average 628 ppm) contents but relatively low Zr contents (approximately 200 ppm) further suggest a strongly peraluminous A-type affinity, a distinctive subtype of A-type granites. The Epo granites display enriched Sr-Nd-Hf isotope compositions with a whole-rock87Sr/86Sri average ratio of 0.712, whole-rock εNd(t) values ranging from − 8.9 to − 7.6, and zircon εHf(t) values clustering at − 8. Their two-stage Nd and Hf isotope model ages are 1.7 Ga to 2.0 Ga, suggesting ancient crustal sources. Furthermore, Nb/U (average 7.46), Ce/Pb (average 4.06) and other trace element ratios indicate negligible contributions from juvenile mantle materials. Our data on the Epo pluton, coupled with other contemporary A-type granites in South China, suggest that the high-temperature melting of metasedimentary basements generated strongly peraluminous A-type granites, while the involvement of metaigneous rocks or mantle-derived magmas resulted in metaluminous to weakly peraluminous A-type granites. Source diversity leads to different aluminium saturations. The Sakarya Zone (northern Turkey) is characterized by the emplacement of voluminous granitoids during the late Carboniferous. In this study, we present geological, U-Pb zircon age, elemental abundance and Sr-Nd-Pb isotopic data on two highly evolved Carboniferous granite bodies within the Early to Late Jurassic volcaniclastic rocks in the Şiran region. The largest body forms a roughly E-W trending ~30 km long and 0.5–2.5 km wide stripe the southern boundary of which is a southvergent thrust, and the other one a subcircular outcrop, ~5 by ~3 km, unconformably overlain by Lower Jurassic volcaniclastic rocks. Their emplacement ages are constrained by LA-ICP-MS U-Pb zircon dating to 310–313 ± 7 Ma (2σ, late Carboniferous). The granitic rocks consist of quartz, microperthitic K-feldspar, plagioclase, and minor biotite, and are characterized by highly evolved compositions with high concentrations of SiO2, Na2O, K2O and Ba, and low concentrations of TiO2, Fe2O3*, MgO, CaO, P2O5 and Sr. Geochemical characteristics indicate a highly fractionated high-K calc-alkaline peraluminous I-type affinity. Chondrite-normalized rare-earth element (REE) patterns are slightly fractionated, with light REEs enriched with respect to middle and heavy ones, and showing variable negative Eu anomalies. On the N-MORB-normalized multi-element variation diagrams, samples display negative anomalies of Ba, Nb, Sr, P, Zr, Eu, and Ti, and positive anomalies of K, and Pb. Initial 87Sr/86Sr and εNd values are 0.70432–0.70610 and −6 to −11, respectively, similar to other Carboniferous high-K calc-alkaline granites and mafic-ultramafic intrusions in the region. The compositional characteristics of the Şiran granites can be explained mainly by fractional crystallization involving hornblende, plagioclase, and biotite and without the involvement of significant amounts of garnet. There is no need to invoke magma mixing and/or melting of a heterogeneous source to account for the geochemical variation. We propose that the late Carboniferous granites formed by remelting of middle- to high-K calc-alkaline mafic rocks at lower crustal depths, followed by extensive fractionation at the upper crustal depths. A thorough review of data from the literature reveals that highly fractionated granites constitute a significant component of the late Carboniferous granites in the Eastern Pontides. The reconstruction of the Early Paleozoic collision metamorphism of the Khan-Khukhei Block (Northern Mongolia) based on 3D modeling of thermal state of the crust and isotope dating is presented. The age of garnet–biotite schist from a metamorphic complex of the Khan-Khukhei Block of 517.4 ± 7.4 Ma is determined for the first time. 3D modeling was conducted to compare this age of metamorphism with the available age determinations of (post-) collision granite formation in the range of 513‒505 Ma. The model considers radiogenic heating at an elevated heat production of rocks of the thickened crust of the Khan-Khukhei block as the cause of the migmatization and granitoid melts formation. 3D modeling was conducted for the first time for thermal-dome type of metamorphism. The results provide a realistic conception of magma generation in typical collision settings in the absence of mantle magmatic heat sources. The Neoproterozoic granitic rocks of Mount Abu Kibash and Tulayah in the central Eastern Desert of Egypt are of geodynamic interest and provide us with important information about the evolution and growth of the northern part of the Arabian–Nubian Shield (ANS) continental crust. They are primarily composed of granodiorites and syenogranites based on new field, mineralogical, and geochemical analyses. The granodiorites are marked by an enrichment of LILEs such as Sr, K, Rb, Ba compared to HFSEs like Nb, Ta, Ti and show a higher concentration of LREEs relative to HREEs. This composition suggests a subduction-related setting and aligns with the characteristics of subducted I-type granites in the ANS. Chemistry of the analyzed primary amphiboles in the investigated granodiorites support a calc-alkaline nature, mixed source and subduction-related setting. The granodiorites represent an early magmatic phase in this setting, likely formed from a mix of mantle-derived mafic magmas and lower crust material, with subsequent fractional crystallization. On the other hand, syenogranites exhibit high SiO2 (72.02–74.02 wt%), total alkali (7.82–8.01 wt%), and Al2O3 (13.79–14.25 wt%) levels, suggesting their derivation from peraluminous (A/CNK > 1) parental magmas. Their REE-normalized patterns are flat with a pronounced negative Eu anomaly, typical of post-collisional A2-type granites worldwide. These rocks originated from the partial melting of a juvenile lower crustal source (tonalite) in a post-collisional setting, driven by lithospheric delamination that facilitated mantle upwelling and underplating to the lower crust. Interaction between the upwelled mantle and lower crust led to fertilization (enrichment with HFSE and alkalis) of the lithosphere before partial melting. Fractional crystallization coupled with less considerable crustal assimilation are the main magmatic processes during the evolution of these rocks. The transition from subduction to post-collisional setting was accompanied by crustal uplifting, thickening and extensional collapse of ANS continental crust that caused emplacement of large masses of A-type granites in the northern ANS. Mesoproterozoic (ca. 1.3 Ga) magmatism in the North China Craton (NCC) was dominated by mafic intrusions (dolerite sills) with lesser amounts of granitic magmatism, but our lack of knowledge of this magmatism hinders our understanding of the evolution of the NCC during this period. This study investigated porphyritic granites from the Huade–Kangbao area on the northern margin of the NCC. Zircon dating indicates the porphyritic granites were intruded during the Mesoproterozoic between 1285.4 ± 2.6 and 1278.6 ± 6.1 Ma. The granites have high silica contents (SiO2 = 63.10–73.73 wt.%), exhibit alkali enrichment (total alkalis = 7.71–8.79 wt.%), are peraluminous, and can be classified as weakly peraluminous A2-type granites. The granites have negative Eu anomalies (δEu = 0.14–0.44), enrichments in large-ion lithophile elements (LILEs; e.g., K, Rb, Th, and U), and depletions in high-field-strength elements (HFSEs; e.g., Nb, Ta, and Ti). εHf(t) values range from –6.43 to +2.41, with tDM2 ages of 1905–2462 Ma, suggesting the magmas were derived by partial melting of ancient crustal material. The geochronological and geochemical data, and regional geological features, indicate the Mesoproterozoic porphyritic granites from the northern margin of the NCC formed in an intraplate tectonic setting during continental extension and rifting, which represents the response of the NCC to the break-up of the Columbia supercontinent. Freixo de Numão (FNG) and Capinha (CG) granites are prominent intrusions in the Douro Group (northern Central Iberian Zone, CIZ) and Beiras Supergroup (southern CIZ) metasediments, respectively. U-Pb dating revealed crystallization ages of 306 ± 2 Ma for FNG and 301 ± 3 Ma for CG, whereas Lu–Hf systematics has shown ɛHft values ranging from −4.5 to +0.6 and from −5.5 to +0.3 in FNG and CG autocrysts, respectively, suggesting that they originate from heterogeneous crustal anatectic melts, but a direct mantle-derived material contribution can also be considered. The isotopic data of inherited zircon cores of both granites, with ɛHft values ranging from −16.8 to +8.4 in FNG, and from −19.4 to +10.1 in CG, are compatible with a derivation from heterogeneous Neoproterozoic metasedimentary sources, consisting of juvenile and recycled crustal materials, comparable to those of the wall rocks. However, the less evolved initial 176Hf/177Hf signature of magmatic zircons of both granites requires more immature metasediments/juvenile materials as main sources for the parental magmas. In fact, for FNG, the high Sr and Ba whole-rock content, and the upper Cambrian inheritance highlight the involvement of a metaigneous protolith in its genesis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Granite genesis is crucial to understanding the evolution of continental crust, yet many concerns about granite genesis remain not well answered, such as whether I-type granite contains metasedimentary components, what controls granite compositional diversity, and how granitic plutons are constructed. To explore these issues, we conducted a detailed study on the two-mica plagiogranite, tonalite, and biotite plagiogranite units of the Wujinxia composite pluton in the eastern Qilian orogen, NE Tibetan Plateau. These units comprise two-mica plagiogranite, tonalite (with diorite enclave), and biotite plagiogranite. Zircon U–Pb data reveal that three granitic units formed at ~ 487 Ma, ~ 464 Ma, and ~ 430 Ma, respectively. Magmatic and xenocrystic garnet were identified from the tonalite and biotite plagiogranite, respectively. The two-mica plagiogranite, tonalite, and biotite plagiogranite all belong to low-K series rocks (K2O/Na2O = 0.10–0.26), and were derived from deep crustal sources mainly consisting of juvenile mafic rocks, with involvement of minor metasedimentary rocks in the magma sources of the two-mica plagiogranite and tonalite. The diorite enclave within the tonalite was probably derived from an enriched mantle-derived basaltic magma. Mineral compositions, thermobarometric calculations, and whole-rock geochemical data indicate that the low-K intrusive units of the Wujinxia composite pluton resulted from multiple magmatic systems at different depths. The results suggest that I-type granites can contain metasedimentary components by partial melting of a mixed crustal source, and high-Mn content helps the preservation of high-Ca garnet within such rocks. For a composite pluton spanning a large compositional variation, its compositional diversity is jointly controlled by magma source composition, melting condition and thermal evolution of individual magma pulses, and the resulted assembly style during pluton construction. It is widely acknowledged that thermal models clearly demonstrate that crustal magma bodies should solidify rapidly upon emplacement. Small plutons can cool below the solidus in thousands of years, while even large plutons require hundreds of thousands of years, but not more than a million years. However, recent U-Pb zircon geochronological data contradict these results, strongly suggesting that magmatic systems are often characterized by protracted events. Therefore, a conceptual framework that reconciles thermal models and the geochronology data is necessary. The Devonian foreland magmatism of the Sierra de San Luis is made up of two distinctive suites, the Monzonite suite (<65 wt.% SiO2) and the Granite suite (>65 wt.% SiO2), both emplaced at ca. 3.7 kbar. Classification of the studied Devonian granitoids is debatable because they have a hybrid I- to A-type granite signature. Based on a robust geochronological U-Pb zircon dataset we corroborate the development of a protracted magmatic activity with three major crystallization events for this Devonian magmatism: 391 ± 1, 384 ± 1, and 379 ± 2 Ma. Considering these geochronological data, we postulate the presence of a deep mush reservoir, where a prolonged magmatic activity, permitted the prolonged crystallization of antecrysts (ca. 395–384 Ma). Migration of the parental magma from the mush reservoir zone occurred near the time of emplacement and culminated in the formation of an ephemeral magma chamber located at shallow levels, where zircon autocrysts crystallized (ca. 379 Ma). Age spectra reported within individual samples support the idea of a massive migration of magma when conditions were favourable (e.g. thermally matured crust). Individual crystallization ages recorded by monazites hosted in two-mica granites are comparable to those obtained from zircons, supporting the presence of a long-lasting hot source. Additional geochronological data indicate that a later thermal event (ca. 353 Ma) could have partially affected some areas of the Devonian magmatic zircons promoting Pb loss, with subsequent partial resetting of the isotopic clock. Studies have revealed the key role of deepseated, ore-forming fluids and metals in the generation of the Early Cretaceous largescale gold deposits in the Jiaodong gold province of eastern China. However, how the ore-forming materials were transported to shallow crustal levels remains unclear. Here, we investigate trace elements and sulfur isotopes of pyrite within mafic microgranular enclaves (MMEs) of Gushan granite to evaluate the role of the syn-mineralization of mafic enclaves in the transportation of ore-forming materials. Zircon U-Pb and molybdenite Re-Os dating indicate that the magmatichydrothermal event in the potassic-altered Gushan granite occurred at ca. 120 Ma, which is contemporaneous with the Jiaodong gold mineralization. The texture and geochemical compositions of pyrite indicate that pyrite grains hosted by Gushan MMEs are of deuteric hydrothermal origin and precipitated during or shortly after magma mixing. The distribution of elements (i.e., Co, Cu, Ni, Zn, As, Ag, Au, Pb, and Bi) and the sulfur isotope (4.14‰-8.8‰) data for pyrites from Gushan MMEs are quite identical to those of the Xiejia diorite intrusion (DI) and other ores from the Jiaodong gold province, which indicates a common source of these pyrites. The common origin of the pyrites, combined with evidence from previous work, suggest that the ore-forming fluids and materials originated from the metasomatized lithospheric mantle, which was the repository of water, sulfur, and volatiles from the subducted Paleo-Pacific plate, rather than by direct release from the subducted sediments of the Paleo-Pacific plate. Our results collectively show that the arc-like mafic magmas derived from the metasomatized lithospheric mantle at ca. 120 Ma were the intermediary that transported the gold and other oreforming components from the deep mantle to the shallow crustal levels where gold and ore-related material were injected into the Weideshan granitic suite during magma mixing. Thus, the Weideshan granitic suite may have played a critical role by continuously transferring gold to the shallow crustal faults where it precipitated. Therefore, future research or deep-drilling exploration programs in the area should emphasize the Weideshan granitic suite rather than the Xiejia DI. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The major- and trace-element compositions of amphiboles in andesite from Quaternary Yufu Volcano, northeastern Kyushu, Japan were analysed to investigate the generation processes of andesitic magma from Yufu Volcano. The amphiboles in andesite from Yufu volcano can be divided into two groups based on major-element composition: pargasite and magnesio-hornblende. To estimate temperature, pressure, and major- and trace-element compositions of melts in equilibrium with amphiboles, we used the recently proposed methods that can calculate temperature, pressure, major element compositions, and partition coefficients of trace-element between amphibole and melt using only the major-element compositions of amphibole. The estimated temperature, pressure, and major-element composition of melt in equilibrium with the amphibole phenocrysts indicate that each group crystallised under different conditions. These differences suggest that two magma chambers at different depths existed beneath Yufu Volcano and that the andesitic magma of Yufu Volcano was formed by mixing of the two magmas. The trace-element compositions of melts in equilibrium with the pargasite and magnesio-hornblende, estimated by applying the partition coefficients calculated from major-element compositions of amphibole to trace-element compositions of amphiboles, indicate magma derived from slab melt and the partial melting of crustal material, respectively. Because magma is a mixture of minerals and melt, we estimate the chemical compositional ranges of the two end-member magmas on the Y versus SiO2 diagram from the mixing relationship between amphibole and estimated melt, as well as phenocrysts of plagioclase, clinopyroxene, and orthopyroxene. The overlap of the estimated compositional range with the trend of whole-rock composition represents the chemical compositions of the end-members of magma mixing, yielding estimates of the mafic (SiO2 ≈ 45 wt %) and felsic (SiO2 ≈ 68 wt %) end-member magmas. Furthermore, we estimate the concentrations of other elements in the end-member magmas by substituting the estimated SiO2 concentrations of the magmas into linear regression equations between the whole-rock contents of other elements and SiO2. The trace-element compositions of the mafic and felsic end-member magmas, as estimated in this study, have similar features to those of gabbroids and Cretaceous granitic rocks, respectively, that are presumed to lie beneath Yufu Volcano. This study provides new constraints on the causes of the chemical and isotopic variability in the central Victorian, Devonian, silicic, magmatic rocks and relates these to crustal architecture in the region. Synthesising present and previous work, it is concluded that the Selwyn Block, which forms the main source region for the Devonian silicic magmas (granitic and silicic volcanic rocks), is heterogeneous in three dimensions, on scales of 1 km and less. The sources of both the I- and S-type magmas were formed in Paleoproterozoic to Mesoproterozoic times, in the distal back-arc region of an Andean-type margin, in a basin that was extending and deepening eastward with time. The prominent rock types are high-grade metamorphosed greywackes, potassic andesites and dacites, with smaller volumes of pelitic rocks. The metasediment-dominated source rocks generally lie at deeper levels and reached higher metamorphic grades than the sources of the I-type magmas. This means that the I-type magmas were generally at lower temperatures and were also more hydrous than the S-type magmas. Heat for the metamorphism and partial melting of the source rocks of the silicic magmas was advected into the crust by mantle-derived magmas. These probably formed an underplate, to drive the regional metamorphism, but numerous, scattered, sill-like mafic bodies caused local contact anatexis and silicic magma production. Along with the emplacement of mafic magma bodies, the ascent of the silicic magmas to the upper crust rendered the deeper parts of the Selwyn Block denser and more mafic. The largely unexposed Selwyn Block, which forms the crustal basement in central Victoria, is heterogeneous in three dimensions, on scales of 1 km and less. The sources of the Devonian I- and S-type silicic magmas here formed in the Paleoproterozoic to Mesoproterozoic distal back-arc of an Andean-type margin. The metasedimentary S-type source rocks lie at deeper levels and reached higher metamorphic grades than the sources of the I-type magmas. The Palaeocene granites of Dawei and the Eocene granites of Mawchi both host large‐ to medium‐scale Sn–W deposits and represent two metallogenically prominent segments of the SE Asian tin belt in Myanmar. Combined with previous geochemical data, new whole‐rock elemental and isotope analyses of tin‐mineralized granites were obtained to provide insights into sources involved in the formation of these granites. Tin granites in both regions are highly siliceous (76–80 wt%), peraluminous (A/CNK = 1.02–1.32), depleted in Sr, Ba, Zr and Ti but elevated in Li, Sn, Rb, Pb and U. The highly evolved nature of these granites is emphasized by their high Y/Ho (33–49) ratios as well as low Nb/Ta (1–11) and Zr/Hf (8–24) ratios. The chondrite‐normalized REE patterns, with M‐type tetrad effects (TE1,3 = 1.04–1.16) and strongly negative Eu anomalies (0.01–0.34), point to fractional crystallization of feldspars and other accessories during the evolution of the parental magma and are also indicative of the magmatic to hydrothermal transition that resulted in the pervasive mineralization of these bodies. The Pb isotopic compositions are variably enriched, with age‐corrected 206Pb/204Pb, 207Pb/204Pb and 208Pb/204Pb values ranging from 18.620 to 18.898, 15.728 to 15.770, and 38.288 to 39.402, respectively, all of which point to derivation from evolved crustal material. This is consistent with their low ɛNd(t) and ɛHf(t) values of −10.11 to −11.29, and −5.86 to −8.93, respectively. Collectively, these data suggest that crustal melting, fractional crystallization and late‐stage magma–fluid interactions all played important roles in the generation of the tin‐mineralized granites of Myanmar. This paper presents a model of the formation of a multiphase Akzhailau granitoid massif formed within a Caledonian block of the Earth's crust in the Hercynian time. This work is based on the results of major and trace element composition, geochronological, mineralogical and isotope-geochemical studies. Three stages of the formation of the Akzhailau massif are distinguished, which differ significantly from the previously accepted concepts about the multicomplex and polychronous origin of this intrusion: (1) the formation of moderately alkaline A2-type leuсogranites (308–301 Ma); (2) intrusion of monzodiorites into the base of leucogranites (~295 Ma), increasing degree of partial melting of protoliths with the formation of syenites and moderately alkaline granites of I-type (294–292 Ma); (3) intrusion of dikes and small bodies of alkaline ferroeckermannite A1-type leucogranites in the west and north of massif (~289 Ma). The Akzhailau massif was formed within about 15 Myr in the middle–upper crust through the interaction of plume-related subalkaline basitic magmas with metamorphosed crustal protolith of the orogenic structure. The Xiangho Zng district is the largest low-temperature W-Au-Sb metallogenic area in the world. The Darongxi skarn W deposit in the north of the Xiangzhong district is closely related to biotite monzonite granite, muscovite monzonite granite, and felsophyre, but the nature of granitic magma and its relationship with mineralization is relatively weak. In this paper, U-Pb dating, Lu-Hf isotope, the in situ composition of zircon, and the apatite of biotite monzonite granite, muscovite monzonite granite, and felsophyre in the Darongxi mining area are systematically studied, and the formation age, magma property and source, and their relationship with mineralization are discussed. The values of zircon U-Pb age and the εHf(t) of biotite monzonite granite are 222.2 ± 0.54 Ma and −2.9~−6.4, respectively. The values of zircon U-Pb age and the εHf(t) of muscovite monzonite granite are 220.8 ± 0.58 Ma and −2.7 to −8.1, respectively. The values of zircon U-Pb age and the εHf(t) of felsophyre are 222.3 ± 2.20 Ma and −2.2~−5.4, respectively. Magmatic apatite grains from biotite monzonite granite and muscovite monzonite granite show distinctive core–rim and oscillatory zoning textures in CL images, and demonstrate a bright yellow in colorful CL images. The magmatic apatite has a total rare earth concentration (3766~4627 ppm), exhibiting right-inclined nomorlized rare earth element patterns and obvious negative Eu anomalies. The geochemical data of magmatic zircon and apatite indicate that magma sources are responsible for these intrusions in the Darongxi mining area, mainly derived from the partial melting of the Mesoproterozoic crust, which is rich in W; the magma is rich in F and poor in Cl (F = 2.4~3.3 wt%, Cl = 0.0024~0.0502 wt%). The oxygen fugacity of magmatic zircon (ΔFMQAVG = −4.02~−0.26), the high negative Eu anomaly (δEu = 0.06~0.12) and the low positive Ce anomaly (δCe = 1.09~1.13) of magmatic apatite, and the occurrence of ilmenite all indicate that the redox condition of magma from the Darongxi mining area is reduced. The large magma reservoirs underlying world-class porphyry deposits are one of the key factors in their formation, which thus led to the present study focusing on the unmineralized intrusive rocks underlying the porphyry molybdenum-copper orebody of the post-collisional Jiama porphyry-skarn copper-polymetallic deposit in southern Tibet. The Jiama porphyry intrusion comprises intermediate-silica quartz diorite, monzogranite, and granodiorite porphyries, as well a high-silica granite porphyry. The intrusive rocks suite exhibits similar whole-rock Sr-Nd isotopic compositions [εNd(t) = -3.9 to -0.8], suggesting a common, non-radiogenic magma source. Yet, these rocks have distinct geochemical characteristics. The intermediate-silica rocks are relatively enriched in Ba and Sr with minor Eu anomalies, and show adakite-like geochemical characteristics. In contrast, the high-silica granite porphyry is strongly depleted in Ba, Sr, and Eu, and lacks adakite-like geochemical characteristics. We propose that the high-silica granite porphyry represents highly fractionated melt extracted from a silicic mush reservoir (crystallinity of ∼40%-65%), and that the monzogranite and granodiorite porphyries constitute the complementary residual silicic cumulates. High crystallinity facilitates the formation of connected fluid pathways, allowing the efficient removal of volatiles from the remaining silicic melt and a rapid flux of the ore-forming fluids toward the apical parts of the large magma reservoir. Less-evolved mafic melt is believed to have repeatedly intruded the base of the magma reservoir, thereby releasing volatiles and water into the silicic mush systems. The volatiles migrated upward through the fluid channels and accumulated in the apical part of the magma reservoir, subsequently, as a result of the overpressure in the roof zone, ore-forming fluids and successive batches of magma were expelled together, thereby forming the Jiama porphyry-skarn deposit. Of Cenozoic age, the Fossong-Wentcheng trachytic dome is located on the southwestern slope of Mount Bambouto. It was probably emplaced during the second period of activity (between 18.5 and 15.3 Ma) of the Mount Bambouto, within the Pan-African granitic basement rock. The dome shows aphyric and porphyritic textures with crystals such as sanidine, clinopyroxene, and oxides. These oxides may be magnetite due to the dominant ferromagnetic behavior of the rock. The dominance of planar AMS ellipsoids and low Pj values reflect the high viscosity of the magma that sets up the Fossong-Wentcheng trachytic dome. The magnetic fabric (foliation and lineation) displays roughly sub-circular trends in the central and the northern parts of the dome with the feeder zone located on its southern part where they display fabrics in the NE-SW direction with steep dips and plunges. This implies that the magma rose through a NE-SW–directed fracture in the basement granitic rock before its propagation towards the NNW-SSE direction by developing one lobe flow emplacement. The Ailaoshan orogen in SW China records the evolution of the Ailaoshan Paleo-Tethyan ocean and the amalgamation history between the South China and Indochina blocks, an important process for the formation of Southeast Asia. However, its tectonic evolution remains ambiguous with various competing models. We have carried out an integrated geochronological–petrological–geochemical study for the granites, dacites-rhyolites, granodiorites and trachyandesites in this orogen to give new constraints on this issue. The 255–254 Ma granites and the 250–248 Ma dacites-rhyolites show similar geochemical features and are characterized by strongly peraluminous nature, continental crust-like trace element patterns and negative zircon εHf(t) values (−14.4 to −6.6), indicating they derived from partial melting of ancient crust. The 229 Ma hornblende-bearing granodiorites are metaluminous to weakly peraluminous (A/CNK = 0.96–1.01) and belong to high-K calc-alkaline I-type granites. They show depleted whole-rock Sr-Nd and zircon Hf isotope compositions (initial 87Sr/86Sr = 0.7027 to 0.7038, εNd(t) = 4.0 to 4.1, εHf(t) = 9.3 to 11.5), suggestive of derivation from partial melting of juvenile mafic crust. The 226 Ma trachyandesites are characterized by high MgO (4.1–4.6 wt.%), high Mg# (56) and arc-type geochemical affinities with enriched isotope compositions (initial 87Sr/86Sr = 0.7108 to 0.7111, εNd(t) = −7.7 to −7.5, εHf(t) = −6.3 to −3.5). These features indicate that their parental magmas derived from partial melting of enriched lithospheric mantle metasomatized by oceanic sediment-derived melts. These new data, in conjunction with spatial-temporal-temperature variations of igneous rocks, metamorphic records and stratigraphic changes in the region, suggest that the Ailaoshan Paleo-Tethyan ocean closed at the Early Triassic (ca. 250 Ma) which was followed by the Late Triassic postcollisional slab breakoff, and the ocean experienced westward unipolar subduction during its evolution with no assumed eastward subduction. The gabbro-dioritoid rocks from Veľké Železné (Nízke Tatry Mts., Western Carpathians, Slovakia) were recently studied in order to better understand the age, origin, and evolution of the basic/intermediate magmas associated with Variscan granitic rocks. Their genesis was investigated from the points of view of petrology, whole-rock geochemistry (including Sr, Nd, and Pb isotopic characteristics), as well as U-Th-Pb zircon and apatite dating. The Famennian magmatic crystallization age of ca. 360 Ma (determined from zircon: 362.4 ± 2.9 Ma and apatite: 358.4 ± 2.8 Ma) is older than the Tournaisian-Visean ages for granite intrusions in the Tatric Unit. Geochemically, the studied rocks have an affinity to arc-related basalts, consisting of a metaluminous, magnesian, and high-potassium calc-alkaline character. Isotope data (i.e., (87Sr/86Sr)360 = 0.7035-0.7044 and εNd360 = +1.4 to +1.6) demonstrate that these gabbro-dioritoids were formed from the mantle-influenced, lower crustal and/or sub-continental lithospheric mantle (SCLM) sources, whereas the unsystematic increase of Pb isotope ratios indicate either the melting of an ancient Enriched mantle-II (EM-II) reservoir or the upper crustal assimilation and/or local fluid alteration. The data presented in this paper favour the origin of the studied gabbro-dioritoids at a continental arc, although we cannot rule out their genesis as a result of the subsequent slab break-off. There are two factors, source composition and magmatic differentiation, potentially controlling W‐Sn mineralization. Which one is more important is widely debated and may need to be determined for each individual deposit. The Xitian granite batholith located in South China is a natural laboratory for investigating the above problem. It consists essentially of two separate components, formed in the Triassic at ca. 226 Ma and Jurassic at ca. 152 Ma, respectively. The Triassic and Jurassic rocks are both composed of porphyritic and fine‐grained phases. The latter resulted from highly‐differentiated porphyritic ones but they have similar textural characteristics and mineral assemblages, indicating that they reached a similar degree of crystal fractionation. Although both fine‐grained phases are highly differentiated with elevated rare metal contents, economic W–Sn mineralization is rare in the Triassic granitoids and this can be attributed to less fertile source materials than their Jurassic counterparts, with a slightly more enriched isotopic signature and whole‐rock εNd(226Ma) of –10.4 to –9.2 (2σ = 0.2) compared with εNd(152Ma) of –9.2 to ‐8.2 (2σ = 0.2) for the Jurassic rocks. Silicic magmas are the most viscous of all magmas, however some granitic plutons display remarkably homogeneous compositions, which contradicts the hypothesis that mechanical mixing is the main homogenizing process in the magma chamber. Thus much remains controversial about the mechanisms responsible for the homogeneities of silicic plutons. Here, we present textural observations, elemental mapping, and in situ elemental and Nd‐O isotopic data of apatites from the compositionally homogeneous Late Permian Yuanyang A‐type granitic pluton (SW Yunnan, South China). Apatite grains display oscillatory chemical zonation and resorption‐precipitation texture, suggesting incremental growth dominated by co‐genetic magma batches injection. The intra‐/inter‐grain core to rim elemental and Nd‐O isotopic variations imply crystal transfer and crystallization from different melt domains within the crystal mush. We propose that rejuvenation events associated with hotter cogenetic intermediate magma batch injection has induced crystal mush reactivation and convective stirring in silicic magma chambers, thereby homogenizing the entire reservoir. Plain Language Summary: Magma mixing between mafic and viscous felsic magmas is usually incomplete, forming heterogeneous structures and geochemical compositions in felsic magma bodies. However, some silicic magma bodies have homogeneous compositions and structures, such as the Late Permian Yuanyang A‐type granites (YAGs) in southwestern South China, and the actual homogenizing process in silicic magma chamber is still unclear. Accessory apatite is ubiquitous in felsic plutons, whose growth zoning could reflect magma chamber evolution. Apatite grains collected from the YAGs show complex resorption‐precipitation texture. The Jabal Al Bayda, located in the Hijaz terrain of northwest Saudi Arabia, comprises magmatic rocks that represent the ending phase in the Precambrian development of the Arabian Shield. Two granitic suites have been studied petrologically and geochemically, the monzogranite and alkali granite suites, to gain knowledge about their origin and geotectonic implications. The geochemical characteristics of the monzogranites align with their formation in a subduction-related environment. These rocks have a composition that is rich in strontium and barium, and low in rubidium, and displays a high-K calc-alkaline to shoshonitic nature. In contrast, alkali granites typically have lower concentrations of Sr and Ba, and higher rubidium contents. The differences in geochemical composition between monzogranites and alkali granites found in Jabal Al Bayda indicate differences in their origin and geotectonic environment. The evolution of granitoid magmatism in the Jabal Al Bayda area is linked to the Hijaz orogenic cycle, during which northwest-dipping subduction led to the formation of the Midyan, Hijaz, and Jeddah arc assemblage, followed by the collision and accretion of these arcs along the Yanbu and Bir Umq sutures. Due to crustal thickening during the subduction-related stage, the deeper parts of the overlying metagraywackes and metatonalites contribute melt to the early crustal magma, which eventually solidifies to form monzogranites. Geochemical, geochronological (U–Pb zircons, ID-TIMS) and isotope-geochemical (Sm–Nd) studies of the rocks of the Bambukoy volcano-plutonic association, which form the Zhanok-Bambukoy volcano-tectonic structure within the Anamakit–Muya terrane on the northern flank of the Barguzin–Vitim superterrane of the East Transbaikalian segment of the Central Asian orogenic belt. The association includes volcanic rocks of the Zhanok Suite (dacites and rhyolites mainly), as well as leucocratic and biotite granites of the Bambukoy Complex that cut through them. The granites of this complex host the Mokhovoe tin deposit, which is attributed to the tin-porphyry formation. Subvolcanic rocks of the Zhanok Suite are considered as ore-bearing. The geochemical features of the volcanic rocks of the Zhanok Suite and the granites of the Bambukoy complex bring them closer to S-type granites, and belonging to a single tin-bearing Bambukoy volcanic-plutonic association. The formation of this association is determined by the age interval 834 ± 23–818 ± 7 Ma. The isotopic data point to a source of parental magmas from the rocks of the Bambukoy volcano-plutonic association, formed as a result of mixing of the material of two crustal sources, the mature Early Precambrian and the juvenile Early Baikal. The geochemical data also point to an exclusively crustal source of the rocks of this association. Thus, the Bambukoy tin-bearing volcano-plutonic association was formed in the Neoproterozoic time (Tonian), most likely under lithospheric extension conditions due to a source with a complex and long crustal prehistory. Arc magmatism along convergent plate boundaries has been a major contributor to continental crustal growth. During the late Paleoproterozoic--Mesoproterozoic assembly of the supercontinent Nuna, following arc-backarc-continent collisions, the Makkovik Orogen, along the southern margin of the Archean North Atlantic Craton, experienced a pulse of continental arc magmatism at ca. 1800 Ma. Lithogeochemistry indicates compositions typical of ferroan, alkali to alkali-calcic, A-type granites. The granitic rocks have εNd(t) values varying from -5.3 to +2.0 and model ages [T(DM)] from 2750 to 1880 Ma. The very high εNd(t) and young model ages imply a substantial juvenile mantle component in their formation. Oxygen fugacity (ƒO2) ratios, estimated by the proxy ratio of FeOT/(FeOT + MgO), range from 0.58 to 0.99, indicating the parental magmas formed in both reducing and oxidizing conditions. The granites also preserve an alkali-calcic alteration that together with inferred ƒO2 makes them more prospective for a variety of intrusion-related styles of mineralization including iron-oxide-copper-gold and uranium. Based on the petrology, lithogeochemistry, and isotopic compositions, the ca. 1800 Ma magmatic event is interpreted to have been developed post-collisionally following the docking of the Cape Harrison Arc/micro-continent with the North Atlantic Craton during the assembly of the supercontinent Nuna. This collision was followed by slab rollback (possibly breakoff), extensional collapse, and mantle upwelling resulting in the generation of the abundant ca. 1800 Ma felsic magmatism. The timing of the ca. 1818-1799 Ma plutonism in the Makkovik Orogen is coeval with significant felsic plutonism preserved in the Julianehåb Igneous Complex (Ketilidian Orogen) of southern Greenland. Granitic magma bodies form in the ephemeral part of magma mush systems and are emplaced by a variety of mechanisms in different tectonic settings. This study investigates how granitic magma emplacement processes and tectonomagmatic interactions assert control over the architecture of mush state pluton‐scale magma transport pathways. The 1.45 Ga shallow‐crustal Götemar pluton is a 4.5 km diameter circular pluton that consists of three granite units: a coarse‐grained red granite, a medium‐grained pale to red granite, and fine‐grained pale microgranite sheets. We employed geological mapping supported by Anisotropy of Magnetic Susceptibility (AMS) to examine the magmatic and regional tectonic controls on late‐stage magma transport in the Götemar granitic magma mush system. Multiple parallel arcuate subhorizontal microgranite and medium‐grained granite sheets (from 0.1 to 10s of meters thick) were mapped within the pluton. The arcuate sheets pinch out from the northern part of the pluton toward the SE inferring magma propagation direction. A dominant set of vertical granitic sheets within the granite body strikes NW‐SE. The AMS fabrics are contact‐parallel in the main medium‐grained granite body and indicate inflation. Within the microgranite sheets, the AMS fabrics are parallel to the sheet strike and support a sheet propagation direction to the SE. The Götemar pluton displays a clear link between arcuate (concentric) magma‐transporting sheets and concentric strain‐partitioning related to the intrusion of medium‐grained granite magma. The vertical magma sheet orientations are consistent with an NE‐SW extensional stress field that is associated with the extensional back‐arc stress regime of the contemporary Hallandian Orogen. Plain Language Summary: The eruptive products of volcanoes are thought to be stored in pockets of melt in crystal‐dominated magmatic systems called crystal mushes prior to volcanic eruptions. An understanding of where magma is stored and how it is transported in mush systems is important in order to predict the eruptive behavior of the volcanic system. As an important part of the early Mesozoic granites in the South Qinling tectonic belt (SQTB), the Guangtoushan pluton provides a material basis for research on the composition of magma sources and the effects of peritectic assemblage entrainment (PAE) on the changes in the granite composition. As shown by the results of LA‐ICP‐MS zircon U‐Pb dating, the Guangtoushan pluton was emplaced during the Late Triassic (214–212 Ma) and was formed in the post‐collision stage between the SQTB and the Yangtze plate. The collected samples had high SiO2 content and low Cr and Ni contents, indicating that the magmas did not undergo significant crust‐mantle mixing during their evolution. The Guangtoushan granitoids were distributed along the trend line of magmatic fractional crystallization in the F–An–Or diagram. This result, combined with the relatively homogeneous Sr‐Nd isotopic composition, implies that the Guangtoushan pluton underwent slight assimilation and contamination. As can be inferred from the comparison between the compositions of the Guangtoushan granitoids and various fluid‐absent experimental melts, the magma sources of the Guangtoushan granitoids contain a variety of materials, such as graywackes, pyroclastic graywackes, and pelites and are not derived from lower crustal mafic rocks. The correlation between the maficity and the major and trace elements further indicates that the strongly peraluminous granitoids from the Guangtoushan pluton was formed by the partial melting of biotite‐bearing crustal rocks and its magmatic evolution was accompanied by the entrainment of clinopyroxenes and accessory minerals. The mechanism, temperature, and timescale of granite intrusion remain controversial, with wide-ranging implications for understanding continental growth, differentiation, rheology, and deformation dynamics. In this paper we present a method for determining intrusion emplacement temperature and timescale using the characteristics of the surrounding metamorphic aureole, and apply it to the Skiddaw granite in northern England. The estimated emplacement timescale (0.1–2 Myr) implies magma transport velocities of 1–100 mm/year. At the absent or low melt fractions relevant to our estimated emplacement temperature (580–650 ∘ C), such velocities are incompatible with pluton formation by successive injections through dykes. Instead, our results indicate the intrusion of a diapir of crystal-rich slurry, solidifying before emplacement, with a rheology governed by the solid crystals. The emplacement depth is likely to be governed by the depth-dependent rheology of the surrounding rocks, occurring close to the brittle-ductile transition. The wider implications of our results relate to (1) the appreciation that much of the chemical and textural characteristics of plutons may relate to pre-emplacement crystallisation at depth, passively transported to higher crustal levels, and (2) an explanation of the difficulty of seismically imaging active plutonism. The Dunde iron-zinc polymetallic deposit is one of large iron deposits occurred in the Awulale Metallogenetic Belt, Western Tianshan (NW-China). This study reports new geochronology and geochemistry for granite in the Dunde mining area in order to constrain the tectonic-magmatic activities and metallogenesis of this region. Granites in the southwest of Dunde mining area are mainly syenogranites intruded into volcanics of the Dahalajunshan Formation in the Early Carboniferous, and they are far from the area where ore bodies and mineralized altered rocks are widely developed. LA-ICP-MS U–Pb zircon dating indicates that Dunde syenogranite was at 306.8 ± 1.0 Ma, which could constrain the upper limit of metallogenic age for this deposit. The Dunde granites are high SiO2 (73.41–80.07 wt%), high differentiation index (D.I. = 89.7–95.0), weakly peraluminous to metaluminous (A/CNK = 0.94–1.08), and they are enriched in LILE and LREE and depleted in Eu, Ba, Sr and P2O5, indicating that they belong to highly fractionated I-type granite. Based on εHf values (+ 9.2 to + 10.5) for zircon and high εNd(t) values (+ 4.7 to + 5.8) for whole-rock, and the two-stage model ages for 601–735 Ma, suggest that the magma source could be the juvenile lower crust. The research on highly fractionated granite has significant implications for both the evolution and compositional maturation of the continental crust and metallogenic exploration. As a means of further understanding crustal evolution and promoting ore exploration in the Bangong–Nujiang metallogenic belt (BNMB), we present the petrography, zircon LA–ICP–MS U–Pb age, and Hf isotopic data, along with the whole-rock geochemical and Sr–Nd isotopic composition on Kese highly fractionated granite in the Baingoin area within the BNMB, central Tibet. The results show that Kese granite possesses a zircon U–Pb age of 127.8 ± 1.7 Ma and a relative enrichment in zircon Hf isotopic composition (−12.8~+0.3) with a two-stage Hf model age of 1.2~2.0 Ga. This granite belongs to the high-K calc-alkaline series, characterized by a strongly peraluminous feature, and is enriched in large-ion lithophile elements (LILEs) and Nd isotopes (−7.86~−7.74). The granite was likely to have been derived from the mixed melts derived from 40%~45% juvenile basaltic lower crust, 15%~20% ancient lower, and 40% middle–upper, following intense fractional crystallization processes involving amphibole, biotite, plagioclase, and some accessory minerals during the magma's evolution. We infer that Kese highly fractionated granite can be formed from the continental collision of the Lhasa–Qiangtang terranes initiated before 128 Ma. The reworking of pre-existing juvenile and ancient crustal materials drove the composition of the northern Lhasa terrane to that of a mature continental crust. Moreover, the distinctive geochemical features have shown that the high degree of differentiation led to intense magmatic–hydrothermal interaction during the formation of Kese granite. A comparison of the geochemical characteristics of mineralized and barren granites suggests that the highly fractionated granites in Baingoin from the BNMB have a high economic potential and are suitable for preliminary exploration of Sn–W-(U) deposits. The transition from magmatic to solid-state deformation in granitic rocks is observed either in cases of shear-zone-controlled magma emplacement or in cases of magma-assisted shear-zone nucleation. In the latter case, pre-emplaced granitoid magmas that are later subjected to a dynamic regime with decreasing temperature accommodate stress that causes strain localization. Shear zones in this case are generally restricted to the contact zone between wall rock and granitoid magma, as it represents large viscosity discontinuities. In large granitic provinces (LGPs), however, rheological properties are mainly driven by the changes in physical parameters of granitic magmas, and thus, shear-zone nucleation in magmatic or sub-magmatic conditions cannot be attributed to the viscosity discontinuities caused by the presence of wall rock. Rather, in LGPs, it is only dependent on the rheological discontinuities within the granitic magmas, and thus, a detailed knowledge of the transition from magmatic to solid-state deformation can give important insights into the dynamic history of granitoid magmas in LGPs. The ~2.5 Ga old, voluminous granitoids of Bundelkhand Craton have been affected by multiple shear systems. Among these, the NE–SW and E–W shear systems are major systems that affected the granitoid microstructures. The NE–SW shear system transects the craton as multiple small- and large-scale shear zones, while the E–W shear system is mainly present in the central part of the Bundelkhand Craton. A petrographic study of a ~25 km long, NE–SW trending Baldeogarh shear zone and granite microstructures in associated areas show important magmatic and solid-state deformation features. Overprinting of solid-state deformation over sub-magmatic deformation confirms the progression of deformation with decreasing temperature. Contrary to this, E–W trending microstructures are primarily magmatic to sub-magmatic with rare small-scale solid-state deformation. This indicates that the E–W shear system is older in southern Bundelkhand and was followed by the NE–SW shear system in magmatic conditions. Therefore, the presence of a transition from magmatic to solid-state deformation along the NE–SW trending shear zone indicates that bulk cooling of the granitoid took place while the NE–SW shear system was active. The Mayo-Darley massif is an anorogenic complex of the Cameroon Line that has a mantle origin. Tin-bearing rocks were analyzed by ICP-AES and INAA analytical methods. The purpose of this work was to provide new geochemical data for the Mayo-Darley tin formation and to understand its petrogenesis and the origin of tin mineralization. The Mayo-Darley tin deposit is made up of tin-granite, and tin-greisen, greisenification was developed on the borders of quartz dykes. These rocks belong to the alkaline series and were classified into acid (SiO2 = 61.6%–73.8%; 65.4%–98% respectively) and basic (42.9%–47% SiO2) rocks. They showed enrichment in HSFE, LILE, Ga/Al and chondrite normalized REE patterns indicating LREE enrichment relative to HREE with a negative Eu anomaly, only sample SB8 of tin-granite showed Eu/Eu* = 1.11. Rocks display metaluminous, peralkaline, peraluminous, ferroan, high-K calc-alkaline to shoshonitic, alkalic to calcic affinity, and crystallized at 800 °C. The chemistry of this deposit reflects the primary composition of granite, quartz monzonite, gabbro, and foid gabbro. This complex experienced multi-stage sub-solidus hydrothermal fluid reactions and shows variable alteration of feldspars alkali mobility. The rocks are classified as A1-type granite, overlap with the OIB field, and were derived from a within-plate setting, similar to mantle non plume-derived magmas. The origin of tin mineralization in Mayo-Darley has a complex evolution, tin mineralization was derived from hydrothermal and hydrogenous metal-rich deposits and shows Sn–Hf–Zr and Sn–Tl–Nb association. The field and microstructural features coupled with mineral chemical data from microgranular enclave (ME) and host Mesoproterozoic Kanigiri granite (KG) pluton of Nellore Schist Belt (NSB), Southeastern India, have been documented in order to infer the likely processes responsible for the origin and evolution of ME and host KG magma. The ME and host KG bear the same mineral assemblages barring the KG which does not contain amphibole; however, they are modally disequilibrated. The ME in KG is originated due to multiple intrusions of ME magmas into the crystallizing host KG magma chamber. Field and textural features indicate the dynamic magma flow, mingling, and undercooling of the ME against a relatively cooler surface of host KG magma. The presence of NSB country rock xenoliths and its diffuse boundaries suggest the intrusive relation and marginal assimilation by the intruding KG magma. The occasional cumulate texture in the ME appears to have formed by the accumulation of early-formed minerals that crystallized rapidly in the ME magma globules. The ME shows the magmatically deform features developed due to the flowage and erosion by the subsequent intrusions of ME magma pulses into the crystallizing host KG magma chamber. The ME amphiboles show unusual composition as ferro-edenitic hornblende to potassian-hastingsitic hornblende, that crystallized in the subalkaline-alkaline transition, low fO2(reducing to mildly oxidizing) magma. The unusual extremely low Mg/Mg + Fet = 0.015 (avg.) of ME amphiboles may be related to the changing physico-chemical (P, T, fO2, and H2O) condition of the ME magma or they might have crystallized in equilibrium with more evolved KG magma. The KG (FeOt/MgO = 37.04, avg.) and ME (FeOt/MgO = 77.72, avg.) biotites are siderophyllite, and buffered between QFM and NNO syn-crystallizing in the water undersaturated (H2O ≈ 3.58 wt.% in KG; ≈3.53wt.% in ME), alkaline anorogenic (A-type) host magmas that were emplaced at mid-crustal (4–5 kbar; ~ 17 km) depth. Field, microtextural and mineral chemical evidences suggest that the alkaline KG magma originated from crustal source and evolved through synchronous fractionation, mixing, and mingling with coeval ME magmas in the KG magma chamber. Apatite is a ubiquitous phase in granite plutons and in most adjacent country rocks, thus contamination of a granite magma with wall-rock material results in two genetic types of apatite in the magma: cognate and foreign. These two textural and chemical varieties of apatite undergo textural and compositional changes to reach physical and chemical equilibrium (perfect assimilation) in the melt. Our experiments replicate the conditions in such contaminated granites. The starting materials consist of a peraluminous synthetic SiO2-Al2O3-Na2O-K2O (SANK 1.3) granite gel with A/NK of 1.3, synthetic F-apatite, synthetic Cl-apatite, and natural Durango apatite. Initial experiments in cold-seal hydrothermal pressure vessels at magmatically realistic temperatures of 750 °C and pressures of 200 MPa produced negligible reactions, even after run times of 2000 h. Instead, we used an argon-pressurized internally heated pressure vessel with a rapid-quench setup at temperatures of 1200 °C, pressure of 200 MPa, and run durations of 192 h. An advantage of this high temperature is that it exceeds the liquidus for quartz and feldspar; therefore, apatite is the only solid phase in the run products. The starting composition of each run was 90 wt% SANK 1.3 granite gel and 10 wt% crushed apatite (consisting of one, two, or three varieties), with and without 4 wt% added H2O. Run products were examined by SEM for texture and by EMPA and LA-ICP-MS for composition. The starting synthetic granite composition contains no Ca, F, Cl, or REEs thus, in every run, apatite was initially undersaturated in the melt. In all experiments, most large apatite grains consisted of anhedral shards with rounded corners, most small apatite grains were round, and a small proportion of apatite grains developed one or more crystal faces. In experiments with two or three apatite compositions, the run-product apatite grains had compositions intermediate between those of the starting-material grains, and they were homogeneous with respect to Cl, and probably F, but not with respect to REEs. The processes to reach textural equilibrium consist of dissolution until the melt is saturated in apatite, followed by Ostwald ripening to eliminate small grains and to develop crystal faces on larger ones. The processes to reach chemical equilibrium consist of dissolution of apatite, diffusion of cations (Ca, P, REE) and anions (F, Cl, OH) through the silicate melt, and solid-state diffusion in the undissolved apatite grains. The halogens approached chemical equilibrium in all experiments, but in the experiments containing Durango apatite, the REEs have not. Models involving radial diffusion into spherical apatite grains at the temperatures of the experiments show complete re-equilibration of the halogens, but changes in the REE concentrations affecting only the outer few micrometers. We conclude that the rate of chemical equilibrium for the halogens is greater than the rate of physical equilibrium for texture, which in turn is greater the rate of chemical equilibrium for REEs. We illustrate these processes with a natural example of contaminated granite from the South Mountain Batholith in Nova Scotia. Given that all granites are contaminated rocks, we propose that future petrogenetic studies focus on developing techniques for a minerals-based quantitative estimation of contamination (QEC). The petrogenesis of aluminous A-type granites is a contentious subject. Here, we focused on the North Kudi pluton in the Western Kunlun orogen to investigate the origin and magmatic processes responsible for generating A-type granites. Samples from the North Kudi pluton are metaluminous to weakly peraluminous. K-feldspar granite samples are characterized by high alkali and Cl contents, high HFSE concentrations and FeO/MgO, low F content, negative Ba, Sr, P, Eu, and Ti anomalies, and high magma temperature (>903 °C), showing affinity to aluminous A-type granites. However, their 10,000 × Ga/Al ratios (1.86–3.18) are relatively lower than typical A-type granites. Quartz-monzonite displays similar Sr–Nd isotopic compositions and Ga/Al ratios with the K-feldspar granite but less pronounced negative Sr, P, and Ti anomalies and no discernable negative Ba and Eu anomalies. Fractional crystallization of alkali-rich, Cl-rich, and F-poor magmas can generate some typical geochemical characteristics of A-type granites (e.g., negative Ba, Sr, P, and Eu anomalies) but has little influence on Ga/Al ratios. The enriched Sr–Nd isotopic compositions, high Cl and alkali contents, arc-like geochemical features, and the involvement of slab-derived components, as indicated by high zircon Ce4+/Ce3+ (up to 503), suggest that the North Kudi pluton was possibly derived from partial melting of the metasomatized lithospheric mantle in the time of asthenosphere upwelling during the post-collisional stage. The origins of Cenozoic granites in the Himalaya are key to understanding the evolution of the Himalayan orogen. However, it is unclear whether these granites represent primary melts, and the nature of their magma source is controversial. Here, we present a systematic element and Sr–Nd–B–Mo isotope study of Cenozoic granites from the Yardoi area in the eastern Tethyan Himalaya, China. These granites can be divided into two groups: mid‐Eocene porphyritic two‐mica granites with low SiO2 contents (65.9−69.6 wt.%) and adakitic geochemical signatures, and mid‐Eocene to Miocene equigranular granites with high SiO2 contents (71.6−75.5 wt.%). The high‐SiO2 granites (HSG) have similar Sr−Nd isotope compositions to the low‐SiO2 granites (LSG), but they have distinct δ11B values of −19.4‰ to −11.4‰ and −10.6‰ to −6.89‰. This indicates that the two groups have different sources, with the LSG derived by partial melting dominantly of metamafic rocks at thickened lower crustal conditions, and the HSG generated by partial melting of the mid‐crust metasedimentary rocks with less enriched Nd isotope compositions. The δ98/95Mo of the LSG and HSG are highly variable with values of −0.68‰ to 0.12‰ and −1.13‰ to 0.46‰, respectively. δ11B values of the HSG correlate positively with δ98/95Mo and Sr/Y values and correlate negatively with K2O, Rb, Zr, and Rb/Sr, reflecting the addition of external metamorphic fluids during anatexis of the metapelites. The B–Mo isotope data robustly suggest source‐controlled compositional diversity of the Himalayan granites, which could provide clues to the physical and geochemical responses during the evolution of a large orogen. Boron isotopes reveal different source compositions for the two groups, with the LSG derived by partial melting dominantly of metamafic rocks at thickened lower crustal conditions, and the HSG generated by partial melting of the mid‐crust metapelites. B–Mo isotopes combined with the variations in element contents/ratios provide evidence for the involvement of external fluids during the formation of the HSG. Our new data suggest that the geochemical diversity of anatectic melts is dominated by the nature of the source, including source lithology and fluid effects. The temporal and spatial extents of the Palaeo–Pacific and Mongol–Okhotsk tectonic systems, which together dominated the Mesozoic tectonics of NE China, still remain unclear. Here, we present new zircon U–Pb ages, isotopic analyses and whole‐rock major‐ and trace‐element data for felsic rocks from west and east Songliao Basin to explore the above question. The granites in Shancheng area formed between 176 and 164 Ma and have εHf(t) values of −22.09 to −7.59 with a TDM2 age range of 3622–2336 Ma. The granites are dominated by adakites and I‐type granite whose primary magma is derived from a thickened ancient crust. The rhyolites in Wushijiazi area formed between 151 and 141 Ma and have εHf(t) values of 3.34–12.38 with a TDM2 age range of 517–1328 Ma. They are A‐type granite and have a flat rare‐earth‐element (REE) pattern with obvious negative Eu anomalies, suggesting they were derived from partial melting of lower crustal rocks. The above findings indicate that the middle–late Jurassic granite in the Shancheng area formed in a compression setting related to the subduction of the Palaeo–Pacific Plate beneath the Eurasian continent and the Late Jurassic to early Cretaceous rhyolites in Wushijiazi area formed in an extensional setting related to the collapse of the Mongol–Okhotsk belt. In combination with regional geologic data, we conclude that the Palaeo–Pacific tectonic system mainly affected the east side of Songliao Basin, while the Mongol Okhotsk tectonic system mainly affected the Erguna Block, through the GXAR to the northern margin of the North China Craton (NCC). The processes of crystallization differentiation, retrograde isotopic exchange, and autometamorphism are considered with reference to the Eocene granites of the Raumid massif, which consists of eight intrusive phases and serves as an example of a "natural laboratory". The work is based on oxygen isotope, petrographic, and geochemical study of representative samples from each intrusive phase of the massif. The isotopic and geochemical studies were carried out for all rock-forming minerals (Qz, Pl, Kfs, Bt) and their altered varieties. Based on geochemical features, the Raumid granites correspond both to A-type granites and to highly fractionated I-type granites. Our results show that the rocks of the Raumid massif are not the geochemical analog of the Eocene granitoids from the Qiangtang terrane of the Central Tibet or the Vanj complex, as it previously assumed (Chapman et al., 2018). We estimated that differentiation of felsic melts of the Raumid pluton occurred at T = 750–800°C, and P = 4.5–7.8 kbar and was mainly controlled by Pl crystallization. The melts were intruded into the hypabyssal zone in at least two stages: early (γ1–γ3) and late (γ4–γ8), although it is possible that the rocks of the γ7 and γ8 phases formed an additional separate stage. The closure temperature of the oxygen isotopic system of quartz (TQz) ranges from 420 to 610°C. The effect of the multiple intrusions of the melts on the TQz and apparent cooling rates is considered. The study of altered and unaltered minerals showed that autometamorphism partially overlapped with the retrograde oxygen isotope exchange in the cooling rock. The modelled δ18О values during Pl and Kfs alteration describes well the observed isotope data when the crystallization takes place at limited content of water fluid (W/M = 0.3–0.05) which could release during the Raumid's magmas crystallization. The occurrence and compositional diversity of granitic pluton is determined by properties of source rocks and conditions of partial melting, and can be further modified by magmatic processes such as magma mixing, crystal fractionation and assimilation during the transfer. However, the role and relative importance of each process during pluton construction are still elusive. Several representative Early Mesozoic granitic plutons in the West Qinling orogen were chosen to illustrate how the magmatic processes control the compositional variation of granitic plutons. The S-type granites in the West Qinling orogen were derived from partial melting of metapelite and can be classified into two categories based on geochemical features, i.e., high Sr content, and low Rb/Sr ratio and REE content (Group A), and low Sr content, and high Rb/Sr ratio and REE content (Group B). Groups A and B might have been produced through fluid-present and fluid-absent incongruent melting of muscovite, respectively, which can well explain respective contrasting major and trace elemental characteristics, and zircon and monazite saturation temperatures. Three types of zircon were identified in the microgranular mafic enclaves(MMEs)from Mishuling pluton based on the morphology. They have consistent zircon U-Pb age but different trace elemental and Hf isotopic compositions. Type-3 zircon develops {100} prisms and has εHf(t)similar to these of zircon in the host granite. Hence type-3 zircon is interpreted as xenocryst captured from the host granitic magma. Type-1 and type-2 zircons are characterized by {100}+{110} and {110} prisms, respectively. They have relatively higher Th/U ratio and εHf(t)values than type-1 zircon, and may have crystallized from hybridized magmas with varying degrees of the mixing. The mafic endmember of the hybridized magma likely has mantle-derived affinity. Thus, the MMEs in Mishuling pluton record crust-mantle interaction. Zhongchuan pluton is comprised of five rock units from the periphery to the center, which mostly have indistinguishable zircon U-Pb ages. The peripheric porphyritic granodiorite is intruded by phenocryst-bearing (K-feldspar and quartz) medium-grained biotite monzogranite; medium-grained biotite monzogranite is crosscut by medium-grained two-mica tourmaline granite, which is inversely invaded by fine-grained biotite monzogranite in the center. Moreover, the correlations between contents of Rb and Ba, and contents of Rb and Sr for these rock units are not observed. Therefore, Zhongchuan pluton might have been formed by incremental assembly of at least five magma batches. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Geological, lithological, petrographical, geochemical, and geochronological data in the Palaeoproterozoic Richtersveld Subprovince/Magmatic Arc (RMA) of Precambrian basement rocks of the Vioolsdrif Domain in southern Namibia, strongly support linkages in the history of formation between the volcanic rock types of the Orange River Group (ORG) and the plutonic rocks of the Vioolsdrif Suite (VS). Previous age dating indicates volcanics of the ORG are more-or-less synchronous with granitic phases of the VS. Geochemical, mineralogical, and comprehensive field and petrological characteristics of the volcanic and granitic rocks suggest genetically linked, parallel igneous-effusive rock suites through processes of fractional crystallisation. Intermittent tapping of evolving residual magmas produced an extrusive carapace of volcanic rocks covering the granitic rocks in a classic magmatic differentiation context of parallel geochemical and lithological evolution. As the magma chamber fractionated plutonic phases of the VS at depth, it extruded residual liquids as volcanic flows and ejecta at surface to form the ORG. A first principal model, based on Ba, Rb and Sr trace element and SiO2, MgO, Al2O3, TiO2 major element behaviour, is supported by multivariate modelling of 28 major and trace elements in 129 rock analyses using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). PCA indicates the first four components account for more than 80% of the total compositional variance in all rock types lending comprehensive support for a linked geochemical differentiation model for both the igneous and the volcanic suites. Strong evidence for the magmatic co-evolution of the plutonic and effusive series includes the Cu-mineralisation event, which manifests itself as a resolvable, orthogonal fifth principal component, geochemically overprinting the intermediate ‘porphyry monzogranite’ differentiation stages, but not related to the terminal leuco-granites. The full spectrum of geochemical relationships is consistent with current models of a direct genetic relationship between evolving high Sr/Y magmas and hydrothermal porphyry Cu deposits, in overall agreement with the full context of field, rock, mineralogical, geochemical, and economic geology interpretations presented here. The Abu Ghalaga pluton in the southern eastern desert of Egypt (SED) consists of undeformed norite and hornblende gabbro intruding island arc metavolcanics, ophiolitic rocks, and syn-tectonic older granitic rocks. The Fe-Ti ore (mainly ilmenite) occurs in the form of lenses at the base of the norite. Based on microtextures, mineralogy, and chemical composition, three types of ilmenites are recognized: massive high-Mg type, disseminated high-Mg type, and disseminated low-Mg ilmenite. The three ilmenite types are chemically distinguished by their MgO, MnO, TiO2, Fe2O3, FeO, and V2O3 contents. The variations in the concentration of these oxides are interpreted as a function of variations in T, fO2, and the composition of the parental magma. Reconstruction of the orthomagmatic conditions shows that T and fO2 of the magma from which the norite and its Fe-Ti deposit formed decrease during the course of magmatic differentiation, whereas the hornblende gabbro and its Fe-Ti mineralization have formed from a more evolved magma under relatively lower T and fO2. The REE patterns and variation diagrams support a model of crystal fractionation as the primary means of formation of the Fe-Ti deposits. Chemical features also suggest that the parent magma of both types of gabbroic rocks was generated in the mantle, but in two different pulses. Subduction zone, MORB, and WPB chemical signatures for these gabbroic rocks suggest a complex tectonic history consistent with compression followed by within plate extension possibly contributing to the development of a back-arc/intra-arc basin. Magma produced by melting of continental crust and mantle at the Archean-Proterozoic boundary are compositionally variable and chemical compositions provide evidence for the mixing of two sources. Understanding the composition of hybrid magma is essential for determining the comparative influence of crust and mantle sources during orogenesis. The hybrid granites are less documented in Indian cratons, especially less in Dharwar Craton. Here we present petrographic and whole-rock geochemical data of Madgulapalli granitic rocks situated in the NE part of the Eastern Dharwar Craton (EDC), to elucidate their petrogenesis and role in crust formation. The Madugulapalli granites (MPG) are composed chiefly of plagioclase, quartz, and alkali feldspar with associated biotite showing alteration and inter-granular textures. Geochemically, they are metaluminous to peraluminous in nature with calc-alkaline hybrid granite. The hybrid granites exhibit both negative and positive europium anomalies; the lower Rb/Sr, Rb, Sr, and higher Sr/Y, (Dy/Yb)N ratios suggest that the interaction of older rocks with residual garnet source melted at high pressures. We hypothesize that hybrid granites are formed by interaction (e.g., metasomatism, mingling, or mixing) between parental magmas and pre-existing rocks with the influence of sanukitoid melts (heat source) in a subduction environment. The genesis of the hybrid granites demonstrates the mixing coupled with differentiation in the petrogeny's residue system in a syn-collision setting followed by continental crust stability in EDC during the Neoarchean period. A-type granites are typically formed in stable intra-plate, back-arc or postcollisional settings and are characterized by highly ferroan and potassic major element compositions, and by strong enrichment in incompatible trace elements. Unlike I-, S- and M-type granites, where the letters denote the dominant source material (igneous, sedimentary or mantle derived), there is no consensus on the source and processes giving rise to A-type magmas. In this contribution, a conceptual model for the origin of A-type granitoids, using the Bornholm A-type granitoid complex in southern Fennoscandia as an example, is presented. In this model, underplated mantle-derived basaltic magma may develop into intermediate and siliceous A-type magma, which is ferroan, potassic and highly enriched in incompatible trace elements, through a combination of fractional crystallization leading to cumulate formation, and partial melting and crustal assimilation, in a process akin to zone refining in metallurgy. The key factor is a relatively stable tectonic environment (postcollisional, anorogenic, or extensional), where there is little or no replenishment of more primitive basaltic magma to the system, allowing it to attain more evolved, enriched and extreme compositions. The Gejiu ore district (~ 3.2 Mt Sn) is located in eastern Yunnan Province, southwest China, and is one of the largest Sn polymetallic ore districts in the world. Athough it has been widely studied, the petrogenesis of ore-related granites is still unclear. In this paper, we present petrological, geochemical, and geochronological data on the granites associated with the Kafang Cu–Sn deposit in the Gejiu ore district (65 Mt Cu ore at a grade of 1.2% and 32 Mt Sn ore at a grade of 0.6%). We use these data to constrain the source, evolution, oxygen fugacity, and tectonic setting of the granitic magmatism. Zircon U–Pb dating yielded an age of 82.8 ± 0.6 Ma for the Kafang granite. The high zircon δ18O values (7.45–9.74‰; mean = 8.80‰) and narrow range of εNd(t) values (–9.0 to –7.7) of the Kafang granite indicate a highly evolved S-type granite derived by partial melting of metamorphic basement rocks of the Jiangnan orogenic belt. Rayleigh fractional crystallization modeling, along with the increase in Hf and Sn contents and decrease in Eu/Eu* values of zircons, record extensive fractional crystallization, and Sn enrichment during magmatic evolution. The Kafang granite was relatively reduced, as evidenced by low zircon Ce/Ce* (10.0–366; mean = 171), (Ce/Nd)N (0.76–8.32; mean = 4.41), △FMQ (–2.5 to 1.2) values, and Fe3+-depleted biotite compositions (Fe3+/(Fe3+ + Fe2+) = 0–0.10), which were favorable for Sn mineralization but not for Cu mineralization. Copper in the Kafang deposit may not have been derived from the granite. Our results suggest that biotite and zircon geochemical compositions, particularly biotite Mg# and A/CNK values and zircon Hf contents, Eu anomalies, and Ce/Ce* and (Ce/Nd)N ratios, are robust tracers of different types of magmatic-hydrothermal ore deposits (i.e., Cu, Mo, W, and Sn). Late Cretaceous magmatism in the Gejiu region and other areas along the southern margin of South China formed an E–W-trending igneous belt that was likely related to northward subduction of the Neo-Tethyan plate rather than northwestward subduction of the Paleo-Pacific plate. The Qushandao Granite, mainly composed of alkali‐feldspar granite, is situated in the eastern Zhejiang province of coastal southeast China. In this paper, we present whole‐rock geochemistry, zircon U–Pb geochronology, and Hf isotopes to constrain the age, magma sources, and geodynamic setting of the Qushandao Granite. LA‐ICP‐MS zircon U–Pb dating results revealed that the Qushandao Granite was emplaced in the Late Cretaceous (101–98 Ma). Geochemically, the Qushandao Granite exhibits relatively high silica and alkali contents, metaluminous to weakly peraluminous (A/CNK = 0.98–1.02), and low abundances of phosphorus, titanium, magnesium, and calcium. It is also characterized by enrichment in Rb, K, Th, and depletion in Nb, Ta, P, Ti, and Sr with moderately to weakly negative europium anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 0.71–0.87). Furthermore, the Qushandao Granite displays lower FeOT/MgO, 104 × Ga/Al, and Zr + Nb + Ce + Y values relative to typical A‐type granites. Therefore, we classify the Qushandao Granite as calc‐alkaline I‐type granite based on a synthesis of geological and geochemical characteristics. The Qushandao Granite shows variable zircon Hf isotopic compositions (εHf(t) = −7.6 to +2.3) and TDM2 model ages of 1.40–0.83 Ga with a mean value of 1.17 Ga. We argue that the Qushandao Granite was most likely generated by mixing of mantle‐derived mafic magma and crust‐derived felsic magma in the lower crust, and that it was formed during post‐collisional extension in the Late Cretaceous, related to the gradually increasing subduction angle of the Paleo‐Pacific plate. The Kyrdem Granitoids (KG) pluton covers an area of about 230 sq. km. in the Ri-Bhoi district of Meghalaya. The KG (479±26 Ma) which intrudes the Shillong Group of metasediments represents one of the granite plutonism episodes of Meghalaya plateau. Mineralogically, KG can be grouped into coarse-grained porphyritic granite with grey and pink K-feldspar phenocrysts and aplite without phenocrysts. The aplite intrudes the porphyritic one as small pulses at several places. KG exhibits textural evidence for magma mixing and mingling during its evolution. Two types of enclaves are hosted in the KG viz. the country rock xenoliths and the microgranular enclaves (ME). Xenoliths which include amphibolites, granite gneiss, and quartzite of the Shillong Group are noticed in the porphyritic granite of KG. Microgranular enclaves (ME) hosted in KG are confined to the porphyritic granites and they are absent in the aplite. They are mesocratic to melanocratic, fine to medium grained and range in size from a few centimeters to a few meters. The ME shows different shapes ranging from subrounded, ovoid, and discoidal to ellipsoidal. The contacts between the host rock KG and the ME are sharp but occasionally diffused contacts are also noticed. In some cases, the ME shows finger-like projections with a convex face towards the host rock. Elongated, tabular, and sub-rounded K-feldspar megacrysts with a corroded margin are observed in the ME. These K-feldspar megacrysts commonlyresemble those that of the host rock. The above features suggest the origin of KG by magma mixing. Furthermore, textures including quartz ocellli, acicular apatite morphology, inclusion zones in feldspars and mafic clots also indicate that magma mingling and mixing plays a significant role in the evolution of KG. Beryllium is a critical metal typically concentrated in highly fractionated granitic rocks such as the leucogranites in the Himalaya. Here, we report beryl mineralization that was continuous from the earlier and less-evolved two-mica granite to the highly evolved albite granite and pegmatite in a typical leucogranite pluton at Pusila in the central of Himalaya. Textural and mineral chemical evidence support a magmatic origin for beryl, and the trends of beryl crystal chemistry indicate magma differentiation. Despite low to moderate fractionation of the biotite granite and two-mica granite in the Pusila leucogranite pluton, the Be contents (~7μg/g, beryl-free and ~22μg/g, beryl-bearing, respectively) of these granites are much higher than the average for biotite-and two-mica granites worldwide (~3-4 and 5-10μg/g, respectively), indicating that the initial magma had a relatively high-Be concentration. The gneisses of Greater Himalayan System, considered the protolith, also show a higher Be abundance (~4-6μg/g) than the mean value of pelitic rocks worldwide (~2-3μg/g), which could be the source reservoir of Be. The source contributed the initial Be to the melt, and fractionation resulted in the onset of beryl crystallization from the interstitial residual melt in the two-mica granite. The ubiquity of beryl in two-mica granite to pegmatite stages of the Pusila pluton is explained by a continuous crystallization model, although there was a delay in the onset of beryl crystallization in the two-mica granite. Modeling based on Rayleigh fractionation indicates that Be becomes compatible once saturation is attained because of the beryl crystallization. Our findings indicate that the enrichment of critical elements (e.g., Be) is controlled not only by fractional crystallization but also by the buffering action of a saturating phase (e.g., beryl) on the concentration of the critical element in the melt. New experiments on the strongly peraluminous, Li-, P- and F-rich Beauvoir granite (Massif Central, France) provide a basis for understanding crystallization and chemical fractionation in Variscan rare metal magmas. Crystallization experiments were performed on two natural granite compositions under H2O-saturated conditions at 100, 200, and 300 MPa, from 540°C to 700°C and between ~NNO + 3 and NNO-1.4. Experimental charges were examined by SEM and their products (glasses and crystals) analyzed for major elements by EMPA. Trace element concentrations in selected glasses were determined by LA ICP-MS. Despite experimental durations commonly exceeding 1000 h and some up to 4000 h, kinetic problems were encountered in particular in the 100 MPa charges whereas, at 200 and 300 MPa, results consistent with previous melting experiments were obtained. Beauvoir melts crystallize quartz, plagioclase, K-feldspar and mica as major phases. At NNO-1.4, mica is a biotite, whereas it is a Li-mica between ~NNO+3 and NNO-1. Apatite, Fe-Ti oxides, either hematite or magnetite, topaz, amblygonite, cassiterite and columbite-tantalite appear as accessory phases between ~NNO + 3 and NNO + 1. Experimental plagioclases are albitic (An <4.5 mol%) and more Ca and K-rich than natural albites in the granite whereas experimental K-feldspars are more sodic (Ab <45 mol%) than the natural crystals. The less evolved starting melt crystallized Li phengites whereas the most evolved yielded Li-, F-rich micas near the polylithionite-zinnwaldite series, similar to natural micas in the granite. Equilibrium crystallization increases A/CNK, F and P and concentrates Li, Be, B, Rb, Cs, W, U in the melt. Nb and Ta are also enriched, their behavior being controlled by the solubility of columbite-tantalite in the melt. Other elements are either unchanged (Mn, Zn, Ti) or depleted (Sr, Pb) during magmatic fractionation. Sn is concentrated in Li-mica and hematite, and it behaves compatibly at high fO2. Beauvoir melts crystallize at very low temperatures, below 670°C for the two compositions studied and solidus temperatures, determined from previous melting experiments and confirmed by the new crystallization experiments, are near 550°C. The experiments demonstrate that most of the mineralogical and geochemical characteristics that make the Beauvoir granite distinctive result from magmatic rather than hydrothermal post-magmatic processes. Albitic plagioclase, Li-mica, topaz, and amblygonite are of magmatic origin. Glass major element compositions suggest that the two granite samples represent crystallized liquids. Trace element fractionations for most elements at Beauvoir can be accounted for by magmatic crystallization–differentiation processes. Implications for the mineralogy, fO2, volatile concentrations, crystallization and conditions of emplacement, fractionation mechanisms and origin of the Beauvoir granite are discussed.
