- Abstract
The digital algorithm has allowed the management of data from web users by informational conglomerates. In a discreet and personalized way, the new form of governmentality collects, organizes, exchanges and returns data to the individual in the form of more information. More and more, it comes up against the singular dimension, touching the field of jouissance via the proliferation of objects a which, in the Lacanian theory of discourses, assumes the double function of loss and an incessant attempt to supplement jouissance. With the increase in information, the object reaches the social apex and the digital reaches a discursive level. Inserting itself in the same niche of know [savoir], digital information takes advantage of the subjective division, leaving little space for the subject to deal with the entropy of his jouissance via desire. If negentropy is the attribute of savoir that limits the dispersion of jouissance, in the information processed and returned algorithmically this process is accelerated, acting directly on the economy of affections. To the detriment of the subject, what remains is an experience of jouissance that is increasingly direct, raw, less mediated by savoir and the Other. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

HUMAN behavior , *SOCIAL contract , *DISCOURSE , *EXCUSES - Abstract
Fear and hatred are affections inherent to human nature; they are not exclusive to the current historical moment but have worsened in recent decades. According to Zygmunt Bauman (2016), "fear and hatred have the same origin and feed on the same thing". Such a statement is an excuse to inquire -through the analytical discourse and by following the Freudian indication- as to what it is feasible to say about the relationship between fear and hatred in the current reality: applying psychoanalytic premises to other practices and fields of knowledge allows us both to raise new problems and to glimpse in a different light those already conceived. This indication invites us to think with the psychoanalytic doctrine, in this case, the discourse of fear and hatred, more than just denouncing it. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SYMPTOMS , *DISCOURSE - Abstract
This theoretical-clinical essay discusses the notion of imaginarization, mentioned by Lacan in only three passages of his oeuvre, to understand certain contemporary clinical manifestations and segregation processes. It hypothesizes that imaginarization is at the core of an activity that can lead the subject to a fixed and specific mode of jouissance. The main question is the type of relationship with object a and what can be derived from this process regarding the economy of jouissance. Contemporary discourse is considered, emphasizing the modes of jouissance that can emerge from this process. In dealing with contemporary symptomatic manifestations in the clinic, the texts point to derivations from the singular (a quintessential register of the psychoanalytic clinic) to the particular, in the subject’s relations with social discourse. This paper presents a reading of hysteria from the perspective of the phallic value, from which it is proposed that the main characteristic of this clinical type will be the identification of the phallus. For this reason, the disjunction between demand and desire is taken in the hysterical subject, without leaving aside the enjoyment and the suffering. The articulation of these conceptual elements is also treated with the clinical orientation based on the question, in the case of hysteria: What is a woman? These notions will be coupled in a clinical vignette, which results in the clinical-conceptual alliance necessary for the transmission of Lacanian-oriented psychoanalysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PSYCHOANALYSIS , *GAZE , *ARGUMENT - Abstract
Starting from the question of the status of the body in virtual relationships, the debate on the relevance, necessity, and efficacy of distance psychoanalysis (online psychoanalysis, tele-analysis) is opened. The arguments that delegitimize this practice are addressed, such as the rigorousness of the setting and some "materialistic" readings of Lacan's teaching. The use of the analyst's body from Winnicott's perspective is reviewed and confronted with Lacan's proposal, in which the analyst is invited to occupy the position of the semblant This proposal defines the subject as a jouissant substance whose materiality is a signifier. In conclusion, understanding the voice and the gaze as two forms of the body, it is possible to think that the conditions to carry out the analytical work are given, being the virtual encounter a tool that will make psychoanalysis possible in scenarios that were unthinkable in the past. DISPLACEMENT (Psychology) , *PSYCHOANALYSIS , *DEAD , *RADICALISM , *INSCRIPTIONS - Abstract
From the original correlation in psychoanalysis between body and symptom, this paper reviews the theoretical displacement processes in Lacan's work which demonstrate and inoculate the role of jouissance in this correlation. Therefore, a problematization between body, jouissance, and symptom is opened and developed primarily through the elaborations operated in the field of jouissance. These elaborations, associated with a logical reduction of the Other (A) and the changes in the conception of the structure of language, which extend beyond the logic of the phallic significance and the Name-of-the-Father, and towards the real, determine a renewal of the problematic, thus displacing these three concepts to new configurations, as corpse, jouissance, and sinthome. The centrality of the real and all the displacements in the elaboration of the body and the symptom are inevitably founded and modified by the movements of the work, regarding the confrontation between the field of language and its possibilities and impossibilities of inscription and registration of the real of the jouissance by the letter. The dimension of the real gains here another position and radicalization of its effects in the psychoanalytic clinical practice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PSYCHOANALYSIS , *PSYCHOANALYSTS , *PRACTICAL politics , *READING , *LANGUAGE & languages - Abstract
This article is set in a current debate on the conceptual politics of the Lacanian field. It seeks to explore one of the distinctive features of this debate: the critique of the progressive thematization of language insufficiency and the substantialization of psychoanalytical concepts in the Lacanian movement, identified by the work of some psychoanalysts. This work, in turn, points to a different reading of the Lacanian text, vectorized by a distinct ethico-epistemological horizon, markedly anti-substantialist. We highlight the place of a politics of the use of three fundamental concepts in this field: real, jouissance and body. Based on the proposed reflections, we try to present substantialism as a potential obstacle for Lacanian psychoanalysis and explore some of its possible ethical, clinical and epistemological implications. MATERNAL love , *MOTHER-daughter relationship , *MOTHERS , *FEMININITY , *CONTINENTS - Abstract
The author proposes to confront the two contiguous fields of the feminine and the maternal based on Freud's considerations on the "black continent", i.e. femininity, and on the notion of feminine jouissance deployed by Jacques Lacan. In the light of clinical psychoanalytical psychopathology, this article aims to highlight that if Oedipus does not make The Woman, the fact of the devastation which is its consequence invades the feminine, as well as the maternal. Indeed, the opaque part of the mother's jouissance, i.e. the feminine in the mother, contaminates both the woman's femininity and her maternity, as shown by the devastating relationship that can exist between a daughter and her mother. Thus, we point out that no more than becoming a woman, becoming a mother is not given from the outset, it is rather constructed from the relationship with language, with fantasy, with jouissance and with the Other in the figure of maternal love, for each one. MASOCHISM - Abstract
This article aims to make a preliminary psychopathological reflection on masochistic perversion based on the ideas of Jacques Lacan and Gilles Deleuze. To do so, it takes the Lacanian assumption according to which the perverse subject seeks to interrogate and recover the portion of the subtracted jouissance to make way to a subject. Then, an attempt is made to realize this assumption by taking back two fundamental aspects of the masochistic staging described by Deleuze: fetishism and idealization. Finally, it is proposed that both mechanisms seek the production of a positive object in the masochistic staging. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

13. MASOQUISMO PRIMORDIAL Y MASOQUISMO DEL GOCE EN EL SURGIMIENTO DEL SUJETO EN LACAN.

- Abstract
Aiming to question the Freudian idea of the passage from primary to secondary masochism, and from masochism to sadism, Lacan prefers to use the qualifier "primordial" for the so-called primary masochism. Hence, Lacan modifies the Freudian idea of a remainder not expelled from the death drive that remains inside the individual, understanding this idea as the pain through which the subject apprehends the pain of existing by recognizing himself merely as a link of the signifying chain--the incorporation of the signifier, the jouissance, is fundamentally masochistic. It is difficult, however, to delimit the difference between his notion of the neurotic's masochistic phantasy or the perverse masochism, and the masochism inherent to the genesis of the subject as presented by Lacan, that is, as a remainder of the subjective division. The notion of surplus jouissance appears to moderate this overlap, as will be shown in this paper. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The purpose of this paper is to review the concepts that make possible the clinical and ethical actions of those who are guided by the psychoanalytic theory. Freudian and Lacanian postulates are articu lated in parallel to, in the end, make a proposal that guides the analyst when facing the difficult everyday nature of the patient's demand during the consultation. The concepts of jouissance, symptom, Lustprinzip (pleasure principle), Jenseits des Lustprinzips (beyond the pleasure principle), Erinnern (remembering), Wiederholen (repeating), and Durcharbeiten (working-through) are addressed in a way that indicates a field of study for subsequent works. - Abstract
The author considers that the alarming growth in the number of adolescent suicides is the tip of a much larger iceberg: the deep suffering, often accepted as natural, of the younger generations. It is a pain in which the sociological analysis usually finds the adults' failure in conveying a legacy that enables inclusion of the newcomers in the social body. We psychoanalysts register - paradoxically - a success in this disturbing situation: the one that corresponds to filicidal and destructive impulses towards the youngsters, which authors such as Raskovsky, Winnicott and Lacan explored in their work. Some symptomatic peculiarities of current adolescence are examined. Guidance provided by some Freudian and Lacanian observations is examined to accommodate and process them in the analytical field. - Abstract
This paper begins with a review of Jacques Lacan’s Seminar XVII to explain the mechanisms by which work is an essential element of every discursive articulation. Discourse, as a possibility of social bonding, is understood as a mode of jouissance by which the subjects are ordered to enter a market that manages their loss in order to establish some control mechanisms. The text shows that the path of the work and its relationship with objects has an essential point in the establishment of the capitalist discourse that allows the effective distribution of the subject’s circuit of jouissance and the exchange of work for surplus jouissance within a political economy of desire. DELIRIUM , *MURDER , *CRIME , *PREJUDICES , *LOGIC - Abstract
The danger of querulant paranoids is a clinical notion present in the psychiatric field. The underlying subjective logic of their outbursts can be distinguished from those of murders or murder attempts perpetrated by psychotic subjects who, in doing so, attempt to treat the jouissance they are the object of. The specificities of the paranoid querulant delirium explain such logic and Lacan's teaching allow for its comprehension. This delirium is built upon a jouissance prejudice that persecutes the subject. The deriving crimes are motivated by a wish for jouissance and perpetrated in the name of a justice ideal around which the subject organizes his existence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Lacan, in expliciting the jouissance concept in The seminar, book VII, The ethics of psychoanalysis (1959/1960), hinges it to the satisfaction of a death drive which transcends the limits of the pleasure principle, therefore bringing, most of the times, satisfaction in pain, generated by an unconscious compulsion to repetition. Therefore, metonymically, working-through jouissance in Lacan takes us to key notions and concepts in Freud, without which verbalizing it would be only jargon, and not a theoretical construction from the symptoms from the clinical work. We state that it would be impossible to conceive this working-through of jouissance, evoked in the above-mentioned seminar, without referring to the conceptual bases that render possible the jouissance concept in Lacan, as well as to a notion of jouissance in Freud. PSYCHOANALYSIS , *DIFFERENTIAL diagnosis , *SYMPTOMS , *PSYCHIATRY , *PSYCHOLOGY - Abstract
This paper describes in what way Jacques Lacan opens a new path to approach the mystical experience in the light of psychoanalysis. The French master compares the path of the analyst to the one undertaken by the mystic and thus goes against the trends in the fields of psychology, psychiatry and psychoanalysis that pathologized this phenomenon at that time and reduced it to hysterical or psychotic symptomatology. Lacan also draws an intimate connection between the goal of the analysis and the achievement of an opening to the feminine field. Following the path suggested by this author, we suggest distinguishing the notions of Other jouissance and jouissance of the Other, providing elements for a differential diagnosis between mystical experience (marked by desubjectification) and psychotic outbreak (marked by subjective annihilation). - Abstract
The author considers "children's lies" as necessary and frequent expressions adopted by children in order to get away from their parents' intrusive domain. Therefore, such lies represent fertile moments in the subjectivation process. Afterwards, the author investigates the structure of lies that, differently from mistakes, imply the explicit intention of wishing and wanting to deceive the others, by saying-wanting to say so as to mislead them and to make them believe something beyond what is said. The author then reflects upon as if personalities and argues that the praise of mere appearance and the hegemony of dissimulation are very relevant issues nowadays since fiction and appearance have gained the status of ontological categories. Finally, the paper stresses the strength of psychoanalysis as one of the few spaces for dialogue in which an authentic relationship with the truth of desire can be preserved, especially in a world where we are constantly exposed to the disbelief in symbolic fiction and to existential cynicism. PHENOMENOLOGICAL theory (Physics) , *SELF-mutilation , *STIGMATIZATION , *FRAUD , *CHRISTIANS - Abstract
Although cases of Christian stigmatization have become rare, general interest in this unusual physical phenomenon endures. Yet, a study of the cases of Madeleine Lebouc and Yvonne-Aimée de Jésus has revealed that their stigmata proceed either from self-mutilation or fraud. However, that's not the main point. Research into this peculiar form of relationship between a subject and his body proves to be quite rewarding, mainly because the phenomenon is sustained by a mystic relation to Jesus. Based on Freud's and Lacan's theories and on clinical elements, the present paper describes the two main functions of stigmata for these subjects, i.e. the processing of uncontrollable jouissance assigned to the body itself and the development of a process of representation that enables the subject to accept it and to deal with it. Abstract The aim of this article is to branch out the debate between psychoanalysis and queer studies, focusing on the interlocution drawn by Judith Butler with the works of Freud and Lacan. Returning to the way Butler articulates Foucault, Derrida and psychoanalysis to think about gender trouble, we show that psychoanalytic theory allows the philosopher to situate, from her conception of gender melancholy, the points of failure of the norm in function of the psychic life of power. After all, even though normative cis-heterosexuality imposes a script of identifications and object-choices on its subjects, there is an unpredictability to the way in which each one will respond to the normative injunctions of culture, so that norms fail to fully determine subjectivity. Gender melancholy thus becomes a mark of the importance of psychoanalysis in Butler’s path. Then, we discuss the philosopher’s interpellations to the Lacanian symbolic order, as well as the nuances progressively introduced in her reading of sexual difference. Along Butler’s path, sexual difference is no longer considered a theory of heterosexuality and is presented as a border-concept, a vacillating frontier, which we take here as an invitation to produce a non-normative rereading of sexual difference in psychoanalysis, resorting to the Lacanian theory of sexuation. Finally, we locate the uncanniness of jouissance and the irreducible character of sexuality to social norms as an important shared axis between Butler and psychoanalysis.

- Abstract
"Funk ousadia" is a recent subgenre of funk whose lyrics present recurrent themes: radically pornographic content, involving the image of the "novinha" and recurring to many slangs for referring to the genital organs, amid judicial polemics, good reception from its audience and bad reception from conservative sectors of society. The presence of a considerable quantity of adolescent "MCs" in "funk ousadia" takes us to affirm that, in the logical time of encounter with the no sexual relation, in an epoch of decline of the paternal function and of cultural stimulation for a ordinary perversion, these "MCs" make a semblant of knowledge about sex -- or deposit it into the "novinha" -- as a way of treating jouissance and the absence of sexual relation, creating themselves a proper name through funk, constituting, thus, a web of horizontal identifications with specular subjects in search of consistency, bypassing the pulsional Real in question in puberty.

The author proposes to confiront the two contiguous fields of the feminine and the maternai based on Freud's considerations on the “black continent”, i.e. femininity, and on the notion of feminine jouissance deployed by Jacques Lacan. In the light of clinical psychoanalytical psychopathology, this article aims to highlight that if Oedipus does not make The Woman, the fact of the devastation which is its consequence invades the feminine, as well as the maternai.

This article aims to provide some contributions from psychoanalysis to clarify the issue of violence against women, a phenomenon that has occurred repeatedly in the history of societies. To analyze the structural bases of that kind of violence, we resort to the Lacanian theory of phallic jouissance and Other jouissance, feminine, proposing a differentiation between what is supposed to be Other jouissance and what is established as jouissance of the Other. Following the path proposed by Lacan, we suggest the hypothesis that jouissance of the Other may be related to the experience by the subject positioned on the masculine side, of an intrusive and devastating jouissance attributed to an Other, lived as absolute, mobilizing misogynous and even feminicide reactions. This distinction was operative in the sense that it allowed us to think about what we call here “devastation in the masculine” and its possible relationship with what we discern as “violence against the feminine in women” in this article.

Abstract This paper starts with a question: to what extent does James Joyce’s writing style disrupts the axiomatic of Lacan’s teaching, centered on linguistic structuralism? The text seeks therefore to pinpoint the relevance of resorting to Joyce when reformulating the concept of the unconscious. By means of a conceptual survey on the definition of the unconscious in Lacan’s teaching, we problematized the validity of using structural linguistics to define such concept, inquiring about the displacement of this theoretical resource to Joyce’s work. Our hypothesis posits that the clinical evidence of imposed speech, on a psychiatric patient and in Joyce’s own experience, imposed on Lacan the epistemological work of problematizing the status of the signifier as representative of the subject of the unconscious, thus elaborating the concept of the unconscious in its relation to the experience of enjoyment rather than the signifier.

In this article, we approach the implications of a voracious superego for anorexia during adolescence through psychoanalysis. For this, we highlight adolescence as a milestone in the process of subjectivation, which calls for another position in relation to sexuality and desire. Anorexia can appear as a way of positioning the subject in the face of the sexual issue. In this case, the superego's voice summoned as a response to the adolescent dilemma leads the subject to a trap, in which the joy is the result of renunciation and whose high price is seen in a body devoured by the voracity and tyranny of the superego.

This article aims to reflect on different theoretical strategies that fulfill the objective of destabilizing the understanding of gender as something fixed and stable, referred to a binary system. In addressing Lacan's sexuation theory and some aspects of queer theory, we seek to corroborate the idea that the tension between such fields is extremely fertile. Initially, we highlight Butler's notion of performance and Preciado's dildo theory: two different ways of thinking about gender as an open way of becoming. Finally, we add the Lacanian contribution to the debate. In our view, the emphasis of the sexuation theory is its reference to jouissance, as a singular experience of the sexual in the body, which consequently decentralizes the notion of being. As a result, the theory of sexuation moves away from the theme of gender as it aims to capture what goes beyond the limits of the attribution of social roles.

- Abstract
From an incident at the Brazilian Academy of Letters, that cancelled the online transmission of a lecture on erotic art, this paper presents the Freudian argumentation of art as a form to which human beings resort in search of happiness. It is a balm for the pain of existence and the discontent that accompanies us. Thus, art serves the void, the existential emptiness, and provides jouissance. But it is also a merchandise controlled by the capital that induces to consumption. The artist makes of his art a form of answer to the encounter with the real, and we -spectators- allow it to lull us to sleep or to awaken us, since it stops the desert of the real. Feminine jouissance is taken as an equivalent of what is experienced faced with the work of art: unspeakable, unknown, strange, splendorous, devastating. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
From the study of the "historical truth" syntagma in Freud in relation to the concept of psychic reality and the structure of the myth, and from the incidences on Freud's work and on other texts, such syntagma is examined in the aspects of both the truth and the idea of a constellation -as it appears in Freud, Lacan, and Goethe. Then, based on the same authors, it is articulated with the clinic of the obsessional neurosis. Thus a hypothesis was inferred: a possible relationship between the syntagma -that comes from the Freudian text and was taken up by Lacan in the field of speech and language- and what Lacan would later articulate in the field of jouissance. Finally, the text tends to the development of this hypothesis by articulating historical truth and analysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
There is consensus on the opinion that social bonds today are organized in a perverse way. We no longer have a master who governs our actions, and family organizations are not organized around the father s power. We live in times of feminization of culture and in a capitalist logic. The capitalist discourse demands no renunciation of drives. On the contrary, it calls for satisfaction of pleasure as the other is reduced to an object. This has led to a change in the economy of the drives and in the way each one deals with external reality, which has become changeable, and in the phenomenology of discourse. The jouissance of language is in showing with words and in producing imagery of discourse. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Our main purpose here is to study certain aspects of the capitalist discourse and compare them with the processes of perversion observed during clinical investigations of subjects. We then take on the dimension of morality and social construction. Experimental research on submission to authority is used as well as issues raised by moral philosophy concerning "dilemmas, " in order to evaluate their effects in terms of division of the subject. The inclination to perversion seems to be an essential driving force that, in the name of the Other, brings about a jouissance that will not say its name, a denied jouissance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article presents a discussion of the widespread today's perversion and its effects on individuals. To make this reflection, it uses a literature review. It presents the concepts of joy and perversion in Lacan's work and analyzes incidences of the capitalist discourse on the means of contemporary jouissance, using authors that wrote about the theme. It has as premise the information that the capitalist discourse, associated with the decline of the paternal function, focuses on subjectivity, producing specificities in the forms of today's jouissance. The individual becomes a serf of a super ego imperative, which imposes an insatiable surplus jouissance on him. The consequences of this are the constant out breaks of traces of perversion in our society, richly illustrated in the pages of the Internet. The capitalist discourse provides a general joy through a direct relationship with consumer goods. There is a promise of cure for the malaise with the contemporary objects. However, the division of the individual indicates an inability to complete the subjective missing with these objects. Thus, the wave of objectification imposed by culture does not end individual's discomfort, on the contrary, intensifies it. As a way out, subjects seek something that can individualize them in this global culture and for this, they use the same technological devices that the culture offers to cover their subjective division. The aim of this article is to determine the influence of the prediscursive field in Lacanian theory. To do so, we used a schematic division of the teaching of Lacan's theories, as elaborated by Miller, in three specific moments. In the first ten seminars, the Structuralist perspective of Freudian texts is the main theme. In the second moment, which started in 1964, a movement can be observed: while the notion of structure lost the central position, the lived experience became more relevant. The end of the second moment was announced in the early 1970s. The seminar Encore marked the beginning of the last moment, and consolidated a special place to the pre-discursive field. The clinical consequence of this period is an emphasis on the body and the experiences before speech acquisition, which provided an alternative for the structural model. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The objective of this research report is to discuss the handling of transference in patients affected by psychosomatic phenomena, demonstrating that the analytical operation in this clinic is only possible from the analyst's role desire. Listening to a patient affected by hives, a disease classified as psychosomatic medicine as knowledge, highlights psychoanalysis as a speech that can operate any change in subject in relation to his suffering. It is emphasized that the management of the transfer is particularly difficult in these cases, because the patient seeks an answer to his disease and his speech is limited to the actual body, always in reference to this, pointing to a specific enjoyment set in a piece of meat which, as Lacan teaches, is proper to the psychosomatic phenomenon. The analysis of this case showed that the possibility of movement of the word from the fundamental rule of psychoanalysis, free association, which was strongly compromised during the start of treatment due to numerous speeches almost exclusively related to bodily infirmity, allowed patient build an analytical symptom and know about their disease by bringing family issues that favored many associations in advancing the analysis toward a nomination, where the Name-of-the-Father can work for her. This article focuses on the importance of the work of writing in schizophrenia. It takes as a starting point the Lacanian formulation of the schizophrenic as someone whose organ functions are not given by any established discourse. The hypothesis to the effect that work with the letter may allow the treatment of excessive jouissance in schizophrenia, is analyzed through writings by Robert Walser, a schizophrenic, which demonstrate the feasibility of building a body through the process of writing. Abstract This article proposes to reflect on the different functions that drug use may have for a subject. We begin with a theoretical discussion, starting with the statement of psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan (1975/1997, our translation) that says there would be "no other definition for drugs, other than this: what allows to break the marriage with the little pee-pee" (p.117). We continue with the elaboration of other psychoanalysts, who, over the years, have discovered that drug use can operate in a way that is different from the rupture with the phallic frame of jouissance. It can, otherwise, limit the devastating effects on the subject. The article seeks to substantiate its argument on the analysis of a clinical case, which calls the Lacanian premise into question, showing that drug use cannot be reduced to a single function.
