The article focuses on the medicinal use of the ginseng plant. According to the commonly accepted opinion, the active substances determining the pharmacological effect of ginseng root and related medicinal preparations are triterpene glycosides of the dammarane and oleanane series called ginsenosides [1] or panaxosides [2]. This study was aimed at the development of a new procedure for determining the total content of ginsenosides, standardization of the quality of ginseng root and tincture, and preparation of the normative documentation based on the proposed characteristic. Partition techniques provide a basis for standardization of the new generation of ginseng root preparations with the compositions strictly rated with respect to individual glycosides.
