- Abstract
This article examines the dynamics of power and decision-making in public health policy, with a focus on the inclusion of young people's voices. It emphasizes the need to consider the perspectives of marginalized groups, such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, culturally diverse, low-income, LGBTQIA+, and disabled children and young people. The article discusses the significance of youth participation in decision-making and highlights successful initiatives that have empowered young people in policy discussions. It also suggests strategies for transforming institutional dialogue, amplifying diverse voices, and creating new policy processes. The article emphasizes the importance of better including diverse youth voices in decision-making and proposes a framework and indicators to monitor and improve youth participation efforts.
