The Arctic was forgotten from geopolitical point of view by the end of the 20th century, but it has became the centre of interest due to the global climate change and the mineral resources discovered there in the first decades of the 21st century. Shipping lines opened by the melting ice caps, Arctic oil and gas potential and other minerals open a new chapter in the history of the region.
