MSMEs have an important role in sustaining the national economy as it contributes about 60 percent of GDP. On the other hand, however, the expansion of their business is considerably low. According to an economic survey by BPS in 2016, more than 63.72 percent of MSMEs had no plan to develop their business for various reasons. In addition, the Covid-19 pandemic has turned their business increasingly sluggish, because the demand for their product sales has decreased drastically. The purpose of this community service is to empower and strengthen the business management of MSME, particularly in the crafting industry i.e. Az Zahra Creation located in Surabaya. Specifically, the program focuses on the understanding of MSMEs mindsets and improving their capability in business and financial management. The methods carried out are identifying and mapping their problems through direct observation and interviews, formulating the solution using system thinking which is then actualized in mentoring and training programs. The results of the programs are renovating the workshop room, improving MSME partners’ knowledge and skills in planning, innovation of business model, managerial, and financial management. The impact of this program is expected to exemplify for other similar MSMEs, hence, the developed framework could be adopted by others to assist the business development.

UMKM memiliki peran penting bagi perekonomian Indonesia dengan sumbangsih sekitar 60 persen dari PDB. Namun di lain sisi, ekspansi UMKM di sekitar kita masih tergolong rendah. Berdasarkan survei ekonomi BPS 2016, terdapat sejumlah 63,72 persen pengusaha yang menyatakan tidak ada rencana untuk melakukan pengembangan usaha dengan adanya berbagai alasan. Terlebih dengan adanya pandemic Covid-19 telah membuat UMKM semakin lesu karena permintaan penjualan produk mereka menurun drastis. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberdayakan dan memperkuat manajemen usaha dari UKM Handy Craft Az Zahra Creation yang berlokasi di Surabaya. Secara khusus pengabdian ini menitikberatkan pada pemahaman pola pikir dan peningkatan kapasitas mitra mengenai manajemen usaha, penguatan branding, dan pemasaran/distribusi online. Metode kegiatan yang digunakan adalah menggali dan memetakan permasalahan melalui observasi dan wawancara langsung terhadap mitra. Kemudian merumuskan solusi dengan pendekatan system thinking yang diwujudkan dalam program pendampingan dan pelatihan terstruktur. Adapun hasil dari pengabdian ini akan memberikan peningkatan pengetahuan dan skill manajerial bagi mitra guna meningkatkan kualitas produk, mengelola permintaan, dan mengembangkan usahanya secara berkelanjutan. Dampak pengabdian ini di masa mendatang diharapkan dapat menjadi percontohan bagi UKM sejenis, sehingga kerangka solusi yang dirancang dapat diduplikasi oleh UKM lainnya guna membantu pengembangan usaha. Waste has been always considered a notable issue in urban dwelling. The number of wastes produced by urban citizens grows ever larger including in the big cities in Indonesia. Surabaya can produce a big amount of waste around 9.896 metric cubic each day by which it is higher compare to Jakarta. Owing to the people’s habit of waste treatment, yet the implementation of 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) concepts is still far from the expectation. Moreover, waste selection and sorting are yet not performed properly at the lowest level. This study aims to propose a conceptual design of a smart waste bin that connected through the IoT systems. Thus, it can be monitored remotely and may assist the truck to pick up the fully loaded waste bin. The study employs a qualitative approach to build the conceptual model of which divided into three steps: 1) collecting and categorizing the data, 2) indentifiying concepts, 3) establishing the concept model. A case study of Surabaya district is provided to show the practical usage of the proposed framework. Herein, the map of Surabaya is divided spatially into 31 districts and the data of waste, which is generated randomly, then projected into the corresponding district. The proposed concept appears to be useful as a basis of waste management systems and has flexibility for which it would provide a significant implication for those cities that implementing a smart city project. As a preliminary study, this research possesses a limitation to the fact that there is no evidence of the versatility and the verification of the concept. This study offers a conceptual design of a smart waste bin that can be deployed in the urban city. By means of spatial analysis, policymakers possess an extensive point of view in accordance with environmental trends that are not readily apparent in raw data.

In accordance with Hottelling's Law, strategic location is a significant factor to ensure the success of a business, thus two businesses which sell the same product tend to choose a closed location. The real practice of this concept is seen in the competition of two big retailers which often open their shop nearby. However, in such competition, the location factor is merely not sufficient. It is necessary to consider other factors such as price and rebate or discount types given to their customers. This paper, particularly, aims to see the customers' preferences towards given attributes i.e. price, location, and discount types. The data is collected by means of a survey with non-probability sampling that is judgmental sampling. The respondents are people reside in Surabaya, Sidoarjo, and nearby whose age between 15-45 years and having various profession. The data is then processed with conjoint analysis by which is used as a basis to reconstruct a demand model considering the customer's preferences. The result shows that the attribute which is most considerable by respondents is the discount types, herein is a bundling product that comprises various products. This attribute has a preference level at 54.53%. The second prioritized attribute is the retailer location with a preference level at 24.28%. This means that a closer retailer is the most preferable by the respondent. Meanwhile, price is the last attribute considered by the respondent in choosing the retailer with a preference level at 21.28%. Thus, a respondent tends to pick a cheaper product after considering its discount type and the distance of retailer.
