Pyrolysis of SCP black liquors in dry nitrogen atmosphere was disscussed in Part 1. In this paper (Part2), effects of reducing atmosphere on pyrolysis products of SCP black liquors have been discussed on the basis of chemical analysis.Pyrolysis was carried out over arrange of 200-750°C with a reducing gas mixture made from H2, CO2, H2O and N2.There are three stages in the pyrolysis reaction the same as in the reaction in dry nitrogen atmosphere. At pyrolysis temperatures higher than 600°C, water-gas reaction occurs in the atmosphere containing H2O, and then pyrolysis solid products and its water-insoluble components are of low yields as compared with those in the dry atmosphere. H2 is not a direct reducing agent for sulfate, but leads to hydro-cracking of sulfur containing water-insoluble components.
