138. Formica consobrina. B.M. Formica consobrina, Erichs. Wiegm. Arch. (1842) v. 258,228 [[worker]]. Hab. Tasmania. Erichson described the female only of this species; the worker differs considerably in form and slightly in colour. The head and the abdomen, except the basal segment, black, otherwise pale ferruginous; the flagellum is also ferruginous; the head large, wider than the thorax, the latter rounded in front and much compressed posteriorly., Published as part of Smith, F., 1858, Catalogue of the hymenopterous insects in the collection of the British Museum.
