The article looks into the establishment of the African Command (AFRICOM), the new military command of the U.S. government for Africa headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany. The new command is expected to improve the U.S. military focus on Africa and at the same time enhance American support for the development of African military establishments. African governments are hesitant about the establishment of AFRICOM because it indicates great power militarization in the continent.
