Münif Pasha was one of the important personalities of Ottoman cultural life. Serving as the Minister of Education for 6 years, Münif Pasha was noteworthy in his time and continues to be a figure of interest today. Münif Pasha, assumed a leadership role through his works, taking steps that can be considered very progressive for his period. He had a command of many languages, from which he produced a number of translations in Ottoman Turkish. One of these translations is Âdât-ı Ümem. Valuable not only as a translation, this work also undertakes the topic of different cultural traditions ranging from China to the USA. The work, which consists of three parts, dwellings, food and drink, clothing and textiles, is written as an informational text. Here, the work, which can be thought of as one of the initial folkloric works of the Ottoman Empire, has been latinized and written in modern Turkish for convenience of the reader.
