Objective: The aim of this study was to describe the main anatomical variants and morphofunctional alterations in the lower limb that compress surrounding nervous structures in the gluteal region, thigh region, and leg and foot region. Methods: We searched the Medline, Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, CINAHL, and LILACS databases from their inception up to October 2023. An assurance tool for anatomical studies (AQUA) was used to evaluate methodological quality, and the Joanna Briggs Institute assessment tool for case reports was also used. Forest plots were generated to assess the prevalence of variants of the gluteal region, thigh, and leg. Results: According to the forest plot of the gluteal region, the prevalence was 0.18 (0.14–0.23), with a heterogeneity of 93.52%. For the thigh region, the forest plot presented a prevalence of 0.10 (0.03–0.17) and a heterogeneity of 91.18%. The forest plot of the leg region was based on seven studies, which presented a prevalence of 0.01 (0.01–0.01) and a heterogeneity of 96.18%. Conclusions: This review and meta-analysis showed that, in studies that analyzed nerve compressions, the prevalence was low in the thigh and leg regions, while in the gluteal region, it was slightly higher. This is mainly due to the PM region and its different variants. We believe that it is important to analyze all the variant regions defined in this study and that surgeons treating the lower limb should be attentive to these possible scenarios so that they can anticipate possible surgical situations and thus avoid surgical complications. Anatomical variations related to the sciatic nerve and its surrounding structures are well-documented, relevant for certain medical procedures, and identified as contributors to pathological conditions. Variations of the sciatic nerve are often classified by its relative position to the piriformis muscle. However, there are inconsistencies in the description and depiction of these variations, along with instances of atypical variations that do not fall within any specific classification. This case report describes an anatomic abnormality found during a routine cadaver dissection involving the bilateral presence of a double piriformis, absence of sciatic nerve formation (tibial and common fibular nerves never within a shared sheath) and an atypical course of the inferior gluteal vessels perforating the right tibial nerve.

Introduction/Aims: Focal peripheral neuropathies are infrequently seen in pediatric patients. The COVID‐19 pandemic has disrupted normal life for many people, including complete lockdowns and school closing for long periods of time in many countries, which prompted children to stay at home. Our aim is to assess whether there has been an increased incidence of focal compressive peripheral neuropathies in the pediatric population during COVID‐19–associated lockdown. Methods: Clinical, electrophysiological, and imaging characteristics were reviewed for patients referred to the electrodiagnostic (EDx) laboratory with suspicion of a focal neuropathy. The incidence of focal compressive peripheral neuropathies seen during the period of March to September 2020 was compared with the same time period in 2019. Results: An increased incidence of focal neuropathies was seen in 2020 (31%) compared with 2019 (6.8%). During 2020, 7 fibular (peroneal) mononeuropathies and 2 ulnar neuropathies were diagnosed. Most patients with focal neuropathies were underweight and acknowledged prolonged screen time periods. Electrophysiological findings consisted of mostly demyelinating lesions with an overall good clinical outcome. Discussion: In this study we raise awareness about a possible increased incidence of focal compressive peripheral neuropathies in children during COVID‐19–associated lockdown, which may be prevented with changing positions during sedentary activities. Objective To investigate the anatomical characteristics of the biceps femoris short head (BS) and determine the optimal needle placement for BS examination. Methods Twenty-one lower limbs were dissected. The distances from the medial and lateral margins of the biceps femoris long head (BL) tendon to the common fibular nerve (CFN) (M_CFN_VD and L_CFN_VD, respectively) and the distance from the lateral margin of the BL tendon to the lateral margin of the BS (L_BS_HD) were measured 5 cm proximal to the tip of the fibular head (P1), four fingerbreadths proximal to the tip of the fibular head (P2), and at the upper apex of the popliteal fossa (P3). Results The BS was located lateral to the BL tendon. The CFN was located along the medial margin of the BL tendon. The median values were 2.0 (P1), 3.0 (P2), and 0 mm (P3) for M_CFN_VD; and 17.4 (P1), 20.2 (P2), and 21.8 mm (P3) for L_CFN_VD; and 8.1 (P1), 8.8 (P2), and 13.0 mm (P3) for L_BS_VD. Conclusion The lateral approach to the BL tendon was safer than the medial approach for examining the BS. Amore proximal insertion site around the upper apex of the popliteal fossa was more accurate than the distal insertion site. In this study, we propose a safer and more accurate approach for electromyography of the BS.

Background and purpose: Measurement of the cross‐sectional area (CSA) of peripheral nerves using ultrasound is useful in the evaluation of focal lesions such as entrapment syndromes and inflammatory polyneuropathies. We performed a systematic review and meta‐analysis of published CSA reference values for lower extremity nerves. Methods: We included available‐to‐date nerve ultrasound studies on healthy adults and provide meta‐analysis for CSA of the following nerves: fibular nerve at fibular head, popliteal fossa; tibial nerve at popliteal fossa, malleolus; and sural nerve at the level of the two heads of gastrocnemius muscle. We report regression and correlation analyses for age, gender distribution, height, weight, and geographic continent. Results: We included 16 studies with 1001 healthy volunteers (mean age = 47.9 years) and 4023 examined nerve sites. Calculated mean pooled CSA of fibular nerve at fibular head was 8.4 mm2 (95% confidence interval [CI] = 6.8–9.9 mm2, n = 1166), at popliteal fossa was 7.9 mm2 (95% CI = 6.6–9.2 mm2, n = 995), of tibial nerve at popliteal fossa was 25.9 mm2 (95% CI = 17.5–34.4 mm2, n = 771), at malleolus was 10.0 mm2 (95% CI = 7.7–12.4 mm2, n = 779), and of sural nerve was 2.4 mm2 (95% CI = 1.7–3.1 mm2, n = 312). Substantial heterogeneity across studies (I2 > 50%) was found only for tibial nerve at popliteal fossa. Subgroup analysis revealed a lower CSA of tibial nerve at popliteal fossa and sural nerve in studies conducted in Europe than in North America and New Zealand. Conclusions: We provide the first meta‐analysis on CSA reference values for the lower extremities with no or low heterogeneity of reported CSA values in all nerve sites except tibial nerve at popliteal fossa. Background: Several E2 (reference electrode) positions are described for fibular (peroneal) nerve conduction studies to tibialis anterior (TA). Methods: This study compared the contribution of different E2 sites to the TA motor response, using remote referential recordings and different bipolar montages. Results: The medial knee contributes minimal electrical activity to the bipolar TA recordings, whereas tibial, ankle, and toe references resulted in very similar, moderate amplitude contributions consistent with far field potentials. These observations were very similar in controls and in patients with lower leg symptoms and signs. Conclusions: Standard montages using distal leg or foot E2 sites result in lower amplitudes with distortion arising from the E2 electrode, compared with the TA‐Knee montage. Optimal measurement of the TA motor response is achieved using a medial knee reference, without compromising measures of fibular nerve conduction across the knee. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Radiculopathy is diagnosed by needle electromyography, with nerve conduction studies excluding alternative diagnoses.Methods: In patients referred for electrodiagnostic evaluation of radiating limb pain, we compared ulnar motor amplitudes between those with and without electromyographically confirmed C8 radiculopathy, as well as fibular motor amplitudes between those with and without electromyographically confirmed L5 radiculopathy.Results: Patients with electromyographically confirmed C8 or L5 radiculopathy demonstrated decreased ulnar or fibular motor amplitudes, respectively, as compared to patients without radiculopathy. Receiver operating characteristic curves demonstrated good diagnostic accuracy, with areas under the curve of 0.85 and 0.82, respectively. Optimal cut-offs for electromyographically confirmed C8 and L5 radiculopathies were 10.2 mV and 3.6 mV, respectively, with associated sensitivities/specificities of 0.86/0.74 and 0.92/0.60.Discussion: Ulnar and fibular motor amplitudes may have clinical utility in assessing the likelihood of patients demonstrating electromyographically confirmed C8 and L5 radiculopathies with active denervation. Background The purpose of this paper is to underline that the association of physical examination, electrophysiology, and ultrasound was crucial in identifying the correct disease and atypical characteristics of its presentation, in turn, providing proper information for both surgical treatment and a rehabilitation program. Fibular nerve compression is a common finding in the adult population, and it is more frequent at the fibular head. The clinical picture may be characterized by motor and/or sensory deficits. The same symptoms may sometimes be suggestive of root impairment. Case Description We report the case of a 39-year-old man who came to our laboratory with a diagnosis of multimetameric lumbosacral radiculopathy. The patient reported a history of ankle numbness and transient foot drop. Neurophysiologic examination showed peripheral axonal damage at tibialis anterior and lateral gastrocnemius muscles. A nerve ultrasound showed the presence of a conflict between a fibular exostosis and the fibular nerve. Furthermore, the fibular nerve presented an anatomic variation supplying the lateral gastrocnemius muscle. Conclusions Ultrasound was crucial in recognizing the cause of the atypical presentation and avoiding a misdiagnosis. Also, it allowed the identification of the appropriate treatment and rehabilitation, as well as preventing irreversible nerve damage. As a result, critical information was presented to the surgeon for surgical treatment. Objective: In Asians, kneeling and squatting are the postures that are most often induce common peroneal neuropathy. However, we could not identify a compatible compression site of the common peroneal nerve (CPN) during hyper-flexion of knees. To evaluate the course of the CPN at the popliteal area related with compressive neuropathy using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans of healthy Koreans. Methods: 1.5-Tesla knee MRI scans were obtained from enrolled patients and were retrospectively reviewed. The normal populations were divided into two groups according to the anatomical course of the CPN. Type I included subjects with the CPN situated superficial to the lateral gastocnemius muscle (LGCM). Type II included subjects with the CPN between the short head of biceps femoris muscle (SHBFM) and the LGCM. We calculated the thickness of the SHBFM and posterior elongation of this muscle, and the LGCM at the level of femoral condyles. In type II, the length of popliteal tunnel where the CPN passes was measured. Results: The 93 normal subjects were included in this study. The CPN passed through the "popliteal tunnel" formed between the SHBFM and the LGCM in 36 subjects (38.7% type II). The thicknesses of SHBFM and posterior portions of this muscle were statistically significantly increased in type II subjects. The LGCM thickness was comparable in both groups. In 78.8% of the "popliteal tunnel", a length of 21 mm to <40 mm was measured. Conclusion: In Korean population, the course of the CPN through the "popliteal tunnel" was about 40%, which is higher than the Western results. Study Design: Case Report.Background: The purpose of this case report is to describe nerve mobilization in the treatment of lower extremity neuropathic pain in a female collegiate long jumper.Case Description: A 21 year-old long jumper presented 7 months after onset of ankle and leg pain. She complained of “aching” pain over the lateral ankle, radiating proximally to just superior to the lateral knee. Neurodynamic testing of the sural and superficial branch of the fibular nerves was positive.Interventions/Outcomes: Persistent neuropathic pain which impeded sport participation in a collegiate athlete did not improve using traditional rehabilitation intervention, but did ameliorate as a result of an intervention which included self-administered, supervised nerve mobilization of the sural and superficial branch of fibular nerve. The patient improved in all outcome measures including the Lower Extremity Functional Scale (LEFS), Numerical Pain Rating Scale (NPRS), and the Global Rating of Change (GROC).Discussion: In a female collegiate athlete with persistent neuropathic pain, initial improvements were achieved with traditional rehabilitation, but her pain continued. Considerable additional improvements were achieved following the addition of self-administered, supervised nerve mobilization. Introduction: We prospectively compared ultrasound (US) and MRI in patients with common fibular neuropathy.Methods: Forty adult patients with clinical suspicion of common fibular neuropathy and 40 healthy controls underwent both US and MRI. US and MRI datasets were randomized for prospective reading.Results: The overall sensitivity of US and MRI for diagnosing fibular neuropathy was 90% (95% confidence interval [CI], 79.7%-97.3%) and 87.5% (95% CI, 71.55%-93.1%), respectively. The overall specificity of US and MRI was 92% (95% CI, 77.45%-96.1%) and 85% (95% CI, 73.3%-94.4%), respectively. The overall sensitivity and specificity of US combined with MRI were 94% (95% CI, 0.80%-0.99%) and 84% (95% CI, 0.70%-0.91%), respectively. Overall intra- and inter-observer agreements among 3 readers were 0.76% (95% CI, 0.62%-0.85%) and 0.74% (95% CI, 0.65%-0.81%).Conclusions: US diagnostic accuracy for common fibular neuropathy was slightly higher than that of MRI. OBJETIVO: Verificar a influência da irradiação do laser de baixa intensidade na regeneração do nervo fibular comum de ratos após lesão por esmagamento. MÉTODOS: Foram utilizados 25 ratos, divididos em três grupos: 1) nervo intacto, e não tratados; 2) nervo lesado, e não tratado; 3) nervo lesado, e laser irradiado sobre a região medular correspondente às raízes do nervo ciático e subsequentemente no trajeto do nervo lesado. A irradiação foi realizada por 14 dias consecutivos. RESULTADOS: Foram avaliados por meio da análise funcional da marcha, através do índice funcional do peroneiro, e por análise morfométrica através do número total de fibras nervosas mielinizadas e sua densidade, número total de células de Schwann, número total de vasos sanguíneos e sua área, diâmetro mínimo da fibra e razão-G. CONCLUSÃO: De acordo com a análise estatística, não houve diferença significativa entre os grupos, e os autores concluem que a irradiação do laser de baixa intensidade possui pouca ou nenhuma influência na regeneração nervosa e recuperação funcional. METHODS: twenty-five rats were used, divided into three groups: 1) intact nerve, no treatment; 2) crushed nerve, no treatment; 3) crush injury, laser irradiation applied on the medullary region corresponding to the roots of the sciatic nerve and subsequently on the course of the damaged nerve. laser irradiation was carried out for 14 consecutive days. RESULTS: animals were evaluated by functional gait analysis with the peroneal functional index and by histomorphometric analysis using the total number of myelinated nerve fibers and their density, total number of schwann cells, total number of blood vessels and the occupied area, minimum diameter of the fiber diameter and g-quotient. CONCLUSION: according to the statistical analysis there was no significant difference among groups and the authors conclude that low intensity laser irradiation has little or no influence on nerve regeneration and functional recovery. OBJETIVO: Comparar clínica e anatomicamente os limites do nervo fibular na zona de segurança de Gerdy em cadáveres. MÉTODOS: Foram utilizados 50 espécimes anatômicos de joelhos e medidos clinicamente (antes de dissecção) para determinar as distâncias e ângulos entre: o tubérculo de Gerdy e a região posterior da fíbula (cm), ângulo entre a linha correspondente à região posterior da fíbula e a crista tibial (graus) e o ângulo entre o tubérculo de Gerdy e crista tibial (graus). Após a dissecção das peças anatômicas, os joelhos foram novamente medidos, para determinar as distâncias e ângulos entre: o tubérculo de Gerdy e o nervo fibular (cm), ângulo entre o nervo fibular, na região posterior da fíbula e a crista tibial (graus) e o ângulo entre o tubérculo de Gerdy e crista tibial (graus). RESULTADOS: Existe aumento significativo da distância entre o tubérculo de Gerdy e a região posterior da fíbula (cm), após dissecção, em média 0,26cm (p = 0,018), o que corresponde a 8,6% (p = 0,007) e também existe diminuição significativa do ângulo entre a região posterior da fíbula e a crista tibial após dissecção, em média de 3º (p = 0,047), que corresponde a 2,1% (p = 0,06). CONCLUSÃO: Apesar da diferença antes e depois da dissecção, a zona de segurança de Gerdy pode ser considerada segura para os procedimentos ortopédicos, na região proximal da tíbia, evitando danos ao nervo fibular e seus ramos.OBJECTIVE: to clinically and anatomically compare the limits of the fibular nerve in Gerdy's Safe Zone in cadavers. METHODS: Fifty anatomical knee specimens were clinically measured (before dissection) to determine the distances and angles between: Gerdy's tubercle and the posterior region of fibula (cm); the angle between the line corresponding to the posterior region of fibula and the tibia crest (degrees); and the angle between Gerdy's tubercle and tibial crest (degrees). After dissection of the anatomical parts, the knees were measured again, to determine the distances and angles between: Gerdy's tubercle and the fibular nerve (cm), the angle between the fibular nerve, in the posterior region of the fibula, and the tibial crest (degrees), and the angle between Gerdy's tubercle and the tibial crest (degrees). RESULTS: There was a significant increase in the distance between Gerdy's tubercle and the posterior region of fibula (cm), after dissection, of an average 0.26 cm (p = 0.018), corresponding to 8.6% (p = 0.007). There was also a significant reduction in the angle between the posterior region of fibula and the tibial crest after dissection, of an average 3º (p = 0.047), corresponding to 2.1% (p = 0.06). CONCLUSION: Despite the difference before and after dissection, Gerdy's Safety Zone can be considered safe for orthopedic procedures involving the proximal region of the tibia, preventing damage to the fibular nerve and its branches.

A utilização de aloenxerto de nervo conservado em glicerol é uma alternativa a auto-enxertia em casos de lesões de nervos periféricos com perda de substância que diminui a morbidade cirúrgica e provem material suficiente para a reparação neural. O objetivo deste trabalho foi comparar o grau de reparação nervosa, utilizando análises histológica e funcional, através da interposição de enxerto autógeno (grupo A), de tubo de veia conservada em glicerol (grupo B) e de interposição de nervo alógeno conservado em glicerol (grupo C) em defeitos de 5 mm no nervo fibular de ratos Wistar. A análise histológica foi feita após o sacrifício dos animais( 6 semanas) , usando o corante azul de toluidina a 1%. No grupo A (auto-enxerto) verificou-se reação tecidual perineural e escape de fibras axonais mielinizadas para fora dos limites do epineuro que foi maior se comparada ao verificado no Grupo B (Veia autógena + glicerol) e Grupo C (aloenxerto de nervo).A avaliação funcional foi feita através da análise dos padrões das pegadas das patas posteriores dos ratos ("Walking Track Analysis"), nos períodos: pré-operatório, pós-operatório imediato, na terceira e sexta semanas. Na recuperação funcional, não houve diferença estatisticamente significativa entre os três grupos em nenhum dos períodos avaliados.The use of glycerol-preserved nerve allograft is an alternative to autografting in cases of peripheral nerve injury with loss of substance, which decreases surgical morbidity and provides sufficient material for neural repair. The objective of this study was to compare the degree of nervous repair, through interposition of autogenous graft (Group A), of glycerol-preserved vein tube (Group B), and interposition of glycerol-preserved allogenic nerve (Group C) in 5-mm defects of Wistar rats' fibular nerve, using histological and functional analyses. In group A (autograft) a perineural tissue reaction and myelinated axonal fibers escape out of the epineurium boundaries were greater when compared to those observed in Group B (autogenous vein + glycerol) and Group C (nerve allograft). The functional evaluation was made by analysis of the patterns of rats' posterior footprints (Walking Track Analysis) in preoperative, early postoperative period, week 3 and week 6. Regarding functional recovery, in none of the evaluated periods was there a statistically significant difference between the three groups.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to demonstrate single fascicular involvement in common fibular (CF) neuropathy using high-resolution ultrasound (US).Methods: We prospectively enrolled 40 adult patients with clinical and electrodiagnostic suspected CF neuropathy between April 2012 and December 2014. Two musculoskeletal radiologists used high-resolution US probes to prospectively and independently evaluate the CF nerve bilaterally in these patients. The presence of single fascicular involvement (increased cross-sectional area and loss of fascicular echotexture) was recorded.Results: US revealed involvement of only 1 fascicular component of the CF nerve in 7 patients. In all these patients, US revealed involvement of the anterior fascicles corresponding to fibers for the deep fibular nerve.Conclusions: High-resolution US allowed identification of single fascicular involvement in CF neuropathy. Introduction: The compound muscle action potential (CMAP) amplitude of extensor digitorum brevis can show a drop with proximal stimulation in normal fibular nerves.Methods: We assessed the contribution of the far-field potential recorded by the reference electrode (R-CMAP) to the fibular CMAP. Negative R-CMAP amplitude, peak-to-peak amplitude, and negative area were measured and correlated with the amplitude decrease. Fibular motor nerves from 14 healthy participants were studied.Results: The mean CMAP amplitude drop with proximal stimulation was 14.0 ± 9.3%, including a >30% reduction in 1 study. All measured R-CMAP parameters correlated with the degree of amplitude drop.Conclusions: A greater R-CMAP contribution to the fibular CMAP leads to greater phase cancellation and temporal dispersion. The resulting amplitude drop seen in the proximal CMAP can be large enough to be classified incorrectly as "probable conduction block" by several different diagnostic criteria. ABSTRACT Introduction At least 25% of knee dislocations are associated with common fibular nerve injury. Diagnosis is usually based on clinical and neurophysiological findings. We assessed the role of nerve ultrasound in common fibular nerve injury. Methods Eight consecutive patients (6 men and 2 women, mean age 34 years) with knee luxation referred to our laboratory underwent clinical, neurophysiological, and ultrasound examination. Results In all patients we observed a similar pattern: severe weakness (plegia or severe paresis); neurophysiological involvement of both fibular nerve branches; and ultrasound evidence of increased fibular nerve area with hypoechogenicity. On follow-up evaluation, 6 patients remained stable, and 2 patients improved. The greater the ultrasound fibular nerve enlargement, the worse the recovery. Conclusions Nerve ultrasound was confirmed to be a useful diagnostic/prognostic tool in traumatic nerve lesions. O estudo da recuperação de lesões nervosas periféricas do isquiático, fibular e tibial, obtidos através da análise motora, é considerado um bom critério de avaliação para a quantificação do grau de avaliação nervosa. O sistema de Análise Funcional dos Nervos Periféricos - AFNP que tem a funcionalidade da informatização deste processo, além de fornecer ao usuário uma maior agilidade na avaliação, permite ao pesquisador a utilização de um número maior de animais nos grupos experimentais, facilitando não só a captação, bem como o armazenamento e o processamento dos dados. The Functional Analysis of the Peripheral Nerves (AFNP) system that can transform this process into a computed one, not only provides the user with a higher evaluation agility, but also allows researchers to use a larger number of animals on experimental groups, facilitating the capture and data storage and processing, as well. Flexibility was a very important result to be highlighted, because more than one user is able to interact with the system.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to measure the influence that hip and knee position have on routine fibular motor nerve conduction studies.Methods: Healthy subjects under age 40 were recruited (n = 24) to have fibular nerve conduction studies completed in various positions, using hip extension-knee extension as a control.Results: A mean increase in conduction velocity of 2.5 m/s across the knee (P = 0.020) was seen during hip flexion compared with hip extension. A mean decrease in velocity of 1.6 m/s through the leg segment (P = 0.016) was seen during knee flexion compared with knee extension.Conclusions: This study shows that the optimal position of the leg during fibular nerve studies is with the hip in flexion and knee in extension, to more accurately reflect nerve length for velocity calculations. ABSTRACT Introduction In 30% of patients with common fibular ( CF) neuropathy at the fibular head, reliable localization of the site of the lesion by means of electrodiagnostic testing is challenging. Methods We prospectively assessed proximal CF nerve cross-sectional area ( CSA) measurements and at the fibular head in 87 patients with CF neuropathy and 16 with a different condition. Reference values were obtained in 64 healthy volunteers. Results Patients with CF neuropathy had a significantly larger CF nerve CSA than controls and patient controls ( P < 0.0001). Sonography localized the lesion at the fibular head in 55% and just above it in 71% of patients. Assessment of the most thickened part of the CF nerve resulted in a cut-off value of >8 mm2 with a sensitivity of 90% ( CI 81-95%) and a specificity of 69% ( CI 58-78%). Introduction: Diabetic polyneuropathy (DPN) is increasingly prevalent in the USA, but nerve ultrasound (US) findings have not been assessed systematically. Our aim was to establish the sonographic characteristics of lower extremity nerves in DPN and correlate them with electrodiagnostic (EDx) findings. Methods: Consecutive patients ( n = 25) with evidence of DPN and 25 patient controls without DPN underwent blinded US imaging of the fibular and sural nerves. Nerve cross-sectional area (CSA), diameter and echogenicity were recorded. Results: There were no differences in fibular or sural nerve CSA, diameter, or echogenicity between the 2 groups. No correlations between nerve CSA and EDx studies were found. In DPN, there were moderate inverse correlations with age ( r = −0.44 sural ankle, r = −0.39 sural leg, r = −0.45 fibular ankle). Conclusions: US measurements of lower extremity nerves in DPN do not differ from controls or correlate with EDx findings. The article reports on a study which examines the prognostic value of electrodiagnostic (EDX) studies fibular neuropathy. According to the authors of a study, EDX studies were conducted by board-certified electromyographers or by resident physicians under their direct supervision. They examined the records of all consecutive subjects at an academic medical center electromyography laboratory over a 15-year period and diagnosed with definite or probable fibular neuropathy. The study found that EDX studies produce significant prognostic information in fibular neuropathy, especially in traumatic cases.
