Objective: to describe the meaning of the use of silicone penile prosthesis for vaginal dilation in the follow-up of brachytherapy in women with gynecological cancer. Method: narrative research conducted at the Centro de Pesquisas Oncológicas, Brazil, with 34 women after pelvic brachytherapy, under follow-up at the physical therapy service. Data collection through semi-structured interviews, including sociodemographic and clinical data and the significance of the use of penile prosthesis in vaginal dilation, submitted to content analysis and discussed in the light of the study From 'sex toy' to intrusive imposition. Results: the meaning permeates the vaginal dilation exercise; difficulties related to vaginal conditions, disease, treatment, pain, sex, constraints, prejudices, failures in health education; motivations are related to the search for quality of life, support of partners and professionals. Conclusion: the approach of possible emotional, psychological, social and physical barriers should be planned and executed for prevention of vaginal stenosis and better reception. Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the perceived risk of breast cancer (BC) and adoption of risk reduction behaviours among female first‐degree relatives (FDRs) of BC patients attending care at the Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI). Methods: A cross‐sectional study was performed using a questionnaire to collect data between March to October 2019. Adult female FDRs of patients attending care at UCI were recruited consecutively. Breast cancer perceived risk was assessed using a verbal measure; 'My chances of getting BC are great' on a Likert scale with 5 response alternatives. Chi square tests and modified Poisson regression using generalised estimating equations model were used to determine associations and examine factors associated with perceived risk of BC. Results: We enrolled 296 FDRs from 186 female BC patients. Few participants 118/296 (40%) had high perceived risk of BC. Majority 165/296 (56%), had ever practiced breast self‐examination. At the multivariable modified Poisson GEE model, women aged 36–45 years were more likely to perceive themselves to be at high risk of developing BC compared to women aged 18–25 years (adjusted prevalence ratio: 1.174; 95% confidence interval [95%CI] = 1.05–2.88; p value = 0.030) after adjusting for age, religion, educational level and residence. Conclusion: Few FDRs of BC patients perceived themselves to be at high risk of developing BC and do not seek risk reduction measures including screening and early diagnosis approaches. Women's delay in seeking medical advice for abnormal vaginal discharge can cause serious effects such as infertility, ectopic pregnancy, and advanced cervical cancer. Family healthcare workers are in a unique position to help in the promotion of vaginal health. A nonrandomized controlled trial was conducted among a sample of family healthcare workers in the intervention (n = 37) and a control (n = 37) group to assess the effectiveness of an educational intervention, which was a 2‐day intensive workshop combining reading materials. Data were analyzed using SPSS software (version 20), and the effectiveness of the intervention was determined using a mixed between‐within subjects analysis of variance. The total knowledge and attitude scores were significantly greater for family healthcare workers in the intervention group immediately and at 3 and 6 months after the educational intervention, compared to the control group. A substantial main effect was observed concerning the time, showing an increase in family healthcare workers' knowledge and attitude scores across the four time periods. A statistically significant difference in the median overall health education competency score across the two groups was also observed. The mean score differences in all sub‐competencies in health education were significantly higher among the intervention group, compared to the control group between second postintervention and the baseline. The educational intervention had revealed successful and sustainable improvements in family healthcare workers' knowledge, attitude on vaginal discharge, and health education competency. Adolescent and young adult females are at increased risk for STDs/STIs and their complications. It is imperative that the sexual health education provided to this vulnerable population is effective. This mixed methods study assessed the impact of an online educational intervention on knowledge of sexual health and STDs/STIs, and impact on behavioral intent among sexually active, young adult females 18–22 years of age. Results showed that the online educational intervention was effective. Scores increased from pretest to posttest and responses included what participants learned and found most helpful, and changes they plan to make as a result of the educational intervention. Background: This study was carried out on Iranian female adolescents to understand health needs for the purpose of designing health promoting intervention in schools. Methods: In this exploratory qualitative study, two focus group discussion (15 teachers) and 30 individual in-depth interviews were conducted among female adolescents in the eighth grade in Zahedan, Iran. Qualitative content analysis was used for data evaluation. Results: The views of students and teachers demonstrated nine of needs including: informing students about the schools' health project aims, education and training all dimensions of health with an emphasis on mental health, use of experts in various fields for education from other organisations, employing capable and trusted counselors in schools, utilisation of a variety of teaching methods, activating reward systems for encouraging students' participation in group activities, teaching communication and the ability to establish good relationships with parents and strategies for resolving family conflict, teaching parents and students high-risk behaviours and strategies for handling them as well as reforming wrong attitudes and indigenous sub-culture. Conclusion: This study found the different needs of Iranian female students compared to other cultures about a health promoting school programme. Objective: To evaluate and compare the knowledge and attitude of future female health care providers regarding pap smear screening for cervical cancer at a medical and dental institution in Pakistan. The quality of knowledge of the students was analysed to measure the efficacy of awareness intervention sessions of the students. This was aimed to highlight their role in public awareness and identify the deficit thereof in their training towards practicing preventive community medicine. Study Design: This was a pre and post analysis comparative study. Place and Duration of Study: Conducted at Army Medical College Rawalpindi Pakistan, over an 8-months period from Nov 2019 to Jun 2020. Methodology: A total of 754 responses, pre intervention-401-and one-month later post intervention-353 were collected through a validated questionnaire by convenience sampling. Changes in the knowledge and attitude of students using an independent sample t test were determined one month after 20-minute educational intervention detailing cervical cancer and its screening. Association between course and year of study on the knowledge and attitude scores was determined by comparing means using ANOVA tables. Results: Comparison of pre and post intervention scores revealed a statistically significant difference in knowledge (p< 0.001) and attitude (p=0.002) with a change in mean knowledge scores from 46.31±15.93 to 74.03±15.71 and mean attitude scores from 45.84±14.37 to 48.86±12.54 after the intervention. MBBS students showed a statistically significant improvement in attitude (p<0.001) than their BDS counterparts (p=0.535). Conclusion: Pre-intervention knowledge and attitude was inadequate. The intervention was successful with a significant increase in scores. Emphasis should be on implementing national HPV vaccination and cervical screening awareness campaigns. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess sexual function in female patients with myocardial infarction (MI). Methods: As research instruments, an interview form of 20 questions that questioned personal characteristics was developed by researchers, Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) that evaluated sexual dysfunction was used. The Beck Depression Inventory was used to evaluate depression. Results: In the course of this study, 45 female patients (62.73 ± 8.55 years) with MI and 50 control women were interviewed. The total FSFI score was 16.41 ± 8.04 in the MI group versus 23.13 ± 3.95 ( P < 0.001) in the control group. The prevalence of sexual dysfunction is significantly higher and the mean FSFI score was significantly lower in MI group women in comparison with the control group. Subscale scores of desire, arousal, lubrication and orgasm domains were lower than the other subscale scores in the MI group. Besides, 75.6 % of the women in the MI group and 48.2 % of women in the control group had a female sexual dysfunction. The frequency of intercourse was significantly lower in women with MI (1.55 ± 0.50 times last month) compared to the control group (2.14 ± 1.04 times last month). No significant differences were detected between the mean total BDI scores. But the correlation between FSFI and BDI total scores indicates that the increasing BDI scores in MI and control groups affected the total FSFI scores negatively. Conclusion: Sexual problems are frequent in women with MI. Sexuality should be evaluated after MI and patients' education and counseling may contribute to a better sexual function. Background: Rural-to-urban female migrant workers have a lower quality of life compared to the general population. Improving these conditions remains highly challenging. This paper reports the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of the female migrant workers in an educational project. Methods: In this before-and-after study, a community-based health education intervention was developed to improve female migrant workers' HRQoL and job satisfaction. A factory was selected as the location to implement the trial, using a before-and-after design. The education intervention included distribution and free access to study materials, monthly lectures, and counseling. The primary endpoint was HRQoL, and gynecological disease and job satisfaction were secondary endpoints. We assessed HRQoL at baseline and at 6-month follow-up using the Health Survey Short Form (SF-36). Results: Compared to the baseline assessment, the participants at the 6-month survey reported higher General Health scores (standardized-β coefficients (Betas) of β = 0.056; P <0.001), Vitality scores (β = 0.066; P <0.001), Mental Health scores (β = 0.062; P <0.001), mental component summary scores (β = 0.040; P <0.001), and job satisfaction (Odds Ratio [OR] 2.104, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.837-2.408; P <0.01). Conclusions: A community-based educational intervention, targeted at female migrant workers, appears effective in improving HRQoL and job satisfaction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Despite so many unmet sexual health education (SHE) needs of adolescents, socio-cultural challenges have caused this issue to be ignored in different scoieties. This study investigated Iranian female adolescents' experiences and perceptions with respect to SHE that they received at schools, and what they really needed, expected, and preferred. Materials and Methods: In this qualitative study, seven focus group discussions (44 adolescents) and 13 individual in-depth interviews were conducted among female adolescents aged 14-18 in Mashhad and Ahvaz, Iran, to explore adolescents' experiences and perceptions towards SHE in Iranian schools. Data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Results: Analyzing adolescents' perspectives and experiences revealed their great dissatisfaction with SHE in schools. Emerged categories included: lack of obligation and priority for SHE, sexual reticence and evading, making adolescents frightened of sexual issues, inconsistency of SHE with adolescents' needs, unqualified educators, and lack of appropriate educational materials. Conclusion: This study found some similarities between expectations of Iranian adolescents and those of adolescents from other cultures about an SHE program. Adolescents showed great abilities to appraise health services delivered for them, and so any program for sexual health promotion in adolescents ought to address adolescents' needs, demands, and aspirations. Aims and objectives. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of internet health education on female university students’ knowledge and cognition regarding hepatitis B. Background. One of the focal points of preventing hepatitis B is to improve students’ knowledge of hepatitis B. The internet is thought to attract learners, ensure privacy and provide channels for help. Design. Cluster sampling was used to select 189 female students from two universities in Kaohsiung City. The participants were divided into 130 participants who agreed to participate in an internet health education program and 59 who did not. Method. The participants were administered questionnaires on ‘hepatitis B knowledge’ and ‘hepatitis B cognition’ before, two weeks after and four weeks after the health education intervention. The experimental group received an additional ‘user satisfaction’ survey at two weeks after the health education intervention. Results. Participants in the internet hepatitis B educational program scored significantly higher in knowledge of hepatitis B at two and four weeks post intervention. No significant score differences were found in hepatitis B cognition in either of the groups two and four weeks. Sixty per cent of the experimental group indicated that the program was easy to understand, 67·69% found it helpful, 66·15% were generally satisfied with the content. Almost 67% (66·92%) thought the university should adopt and promote the web site. Relevance to clinical practice. Introduction Uterine leimyomas are the most common gynaecologacal tumors and represent 30% of all benign gynecological tumors. The vast majority of leiomyomas are asymptomatic and do not need to be treated. Pelvic pain and abnormal uterine bleeding should be considered as the most important reasons for surgical treatment of uterine fibroids. Case report A female patient, age 69, was treated at the Institute of Oncology in Sremska Kamenica because ofa huge abdominal tumor. Major symptoms were increased body temperature, abnormal uterine bleeding and extensive abdominal enlargement. After the clinical, laboratory and imaging evaluation, the offered hysterectomy was performed. Th evacuated tumor was 18 kg heavy and 40 cm in length. The pathohystological diagnosis was leiomyoma per magnum. The patient was released after 11 days of hospitalization without any postoperative complications and in good general condition. Discussion Uterine fibroids can be managed medically and surgically. Hysterectomy should be performed in every case with dominant symptoms like abnormal uterine bleeding, tumor growth and increasing abdominal pain (when other causes are excluded) in postmenopausal women. This particular case is an example of low general and health culture of the reported patient and maybe caused by fear from medical and surgical treatment. Sometimes, making a diagnosis of the nature of pelvic tumor is very hard. but by respecting diagnostic procedure an adequate treatment of those patients can be ensured. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
