Keeping in mind the latest CISF Report of 2001 on the Family in Italy, which is dedicated to the relationship of couples, the author turns her attention to emerging phenomena of couples choosing to remain child free. Considering the life of a couple as the best place for generating children, the author highlights the structural intentionality of the dynamics of a couple, that loving, sacrificial spousal relationship, recovering the meaning of generating, beginning with Erikson's thought. The author then reinterprets it in the pedagogical prospective whose axis is the principle of generosity. The educational orientation presented is that of a wish that true and proper schools for couples and parents may be created. This would promote and enrich the generating principle of couples, so that they may acquire the ability for "reflective relationships", and motherhood and fatherhood may be assumed as "moral careers".
