Abstract

The gas turbine cycle is the key solution for the power generation system from the last decade. several types of research are going to enhance the overall system efficiency of the gas turbine cycle. In the present study, six sets have been investigated parametrically for energy and exergy. Thermodynamic assessments have been effectively achieved for the compressor pressure ratio from 4 to 14, turbine inlet temperature (TIT) from 1000K to 1500K, and ambient temperature 250C to 450C. Results show that for every 100 rises in ambient temperature the maximum decrease in peak output and peak thermal efficiency is 6.2% and 5% respectively at 1000K and 3.6% and 1.9% respectively at 1500K. The exergy loss by exhaust gases of set 4 and set 5 increased by 107% whereas set 6 is decreased by 85.5% as compared to set 1 under the conditions when the exergy loss by exhaust gases of set 1 is minimum at TIT 1000K. The total exergy destruction of set 3, set 4, set 5, and set 6 is increased by 102%, 32.6%, 133.3%, and 102% respectively as compared to set 1 under the conditions when the total exergy destruction of set1 is minimum at TIT 1000K. Regenerative Gas Turbine cycle is the best in terms of the ratio of net output to exergy destruction of the plant as well as initial, operational, and maintenance costs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

In the present study, firstly, the power production, thermal and exergy efficiencies were calculated for the simple and recuperative gas turbine cycles at constant power production (50 MW) and turbine outlet temperature (450 degrees C). The system was analysed for the cases of using both natural gas and pure hydrogen as a fuel for simple and recuperative gas turbine systems. After analyses, the efficiencies of the recuperative gas turbine cycle were higher than the simple gas turbine cycle up to 18 bar pressure for both natural gas and H-2. At the pressure of 18 bar and above, the efficiency of the simple gas turbine cycle found higher than the recuperative gas turbine cycle since the compressor outlet temperature is higher than the turbine outlet temperature. Despite the higher cost of H-2 for unit power production, the H-2 used gas turbine cycles has more advantageous than natural gas in terms of performance, environment and CO2 emission. For the cases of using H-2 and natural gas as fuel, the minimum fuel cost was calculated as 0.345 $/kWh and 0.075 $/kWh at 20 bar for simple gas turbine cycle, while they were found as 0.322 $/kWh and 0.071 $/kWh at 4 bar for recuperative gas turbine cycle, respectively. The CO2 emission of the 50 MW gas turbine was found between 46.27 tones-CO2/h and 71.15 tones-CO2/h for natural gas using simple and recuperative gas turbine systems, besides zero CO2 emission of using H-2. Abstract

This paper presents thermodynamic and thermoeconomic analyses as well as optimization of a re-compression supercritical CO2 cycle. A gas turbine cycle (GT) is adapted as a model to an existing plant to generate additional power in Gaziantep Municipal Solid Waste Power Plant (GMSWPP). The total capital cost rate and total cost rate of the GT cycle are found to be 20.47 $/h and 77.14 $/h, respectively utilizing SPECO by using the exhaust gas of 16 kg/s with 1.9 bar and 566.7 degrees c. The net power, the energy and exergy efficiencies, the total cost and the total capital cost rates of the GT cycle are optimized by +1.73%, +3.21%, +2.45%, -1.11% and -1.64%, respectively using NSGA-II in MATLAB in the range of 2.5
