In the framework of the Master Degree on French Studies organized by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and the Université de la Sorbonne, the present work is part of a Master degree’s final project, written by Coralia Hernández Reyes and directed by Professor Amelia Sanz Cabrerizo. The proposed case-study is Madame de Staël in the 1930’s in France, more precisely during the Popular Front government (4th June 1936 – 10th April 1938). The starting point was the Gallica, the digital library of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (BnF), and RetroNews, the newspaper website of the BnF. The corpus, with more than 82000 words, is the base to analyse how Madame de Staël is presented in the press as a model for the French women and their new role in politics and social life in the studied period.
