95 ÖZET Türkiye Pleistosen dönem çökelleri az sayıda fosil yatağı içermektedir. Bu fosil yataklarından Durusnlu Pleistosen çökelleri oldukça zengin memeli palefaunasına sahip olması açısından önemli bir fosil bulgu yeridir. Duruniu Equus faunası örnekleri tepe (surface:dump), san çakıllı toprak (yellow gravels) ve üst kömür olmak üzere 3 ayn tabakadan açığa çıkarılmıştır. Bu tabakalardan ele geçen 300 Equidae örnekleri üzerinde sistematik, odontolojik ve osteolojik çalışma yapılmıştır. Yapılan incelemelerde Equidae ailesinin Equus caballus mosbachensis ve Equus cf. altidens örnekleri kendi aralarında karşılaştırmıştır. Bunun sonucunda bu türlerin özellikle diş ve etraf kemiklerinin morfolojik yapısı ortaya konmuş ve ilk olarak bu buluntu yerinden çıkarılmış geniş bir seri üzerinde daha detaylı odontolojik yapı da tanımlamaya çalışılmıştır. Bu çalışmalar doğrultusunda Equus türlerinin kendi aralarında ilişkiler açığa çıkarılmıştır. Türler üzerinde yapılan incelemeler sonucunda elde edilen odontolojik ve osteolojik veriler türlerin birbirleriyle olan karşılaştırmasında ve ilişkilendirilmesinde kullanılmıştır. Detaylı bir arazi çalışması sonucunda elde edilen iitostratigrafik ve sedimatolojik çalışmalar biyostratigrafik çalışmalara temel olmuştur. Bütün araştırmalar ışığında yöre biyostratigrafisi, paleoekolojisi belirlenmiş ve bölge kronolojisinde faklı görüşlere ulaşılmıştır. 96 SUMMARY The Pleistocene sedimentary deposits within the Turkey contain several fossiliferous beds. Pleistocene deposits of the Dursunlu area is regarded as one of the most important sites in Anatolia since its rich and diversifed mammalian fauna bearing sediments. The specimens of the Dursunlu Equidae fauna were collected from different three layers (Surface: Dump, Yellow gravels, Upper coal). The 300 Equidae samples collected from this layers, sistematical, odontological and osteological studies have been carried out As a results of the laboratory examination of these fossils two species, namely Equuus caballus mosbachensis and Equus cf. altktens belonging of the Equidae family have been identified. The Dursunlu Equidae fossils have been correlated with each other. Attems have also been made to establish the evolutionary trends and zoogeographical relationships between the species. The odontological and osteological data obtained from the studies of these species have provided a firm basis for evaluating the correlations and the relations among the species. Lithostratigraphical and sedimenthological data based on the detailed field studies provided further background information for the biostratigraphical studies. In the light of available information derived from all these studies, the biostratigraphy and paleoecology of this region have been established and different views concerning the cronostratigraphy of the region have been advanced. 130
