Foreign remittance has become an essential source of wealth in recent decades, with far‐reaching effects on various economic indices and CO2 emissions. This research examines the impact of remittances and disaggregated energy consumption on CO2 emissions in an ‘Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC)’ framework utilising a global sample of 46 top remittance‐receiving countries during 1996–2020. The study confirms the EKC proposition and demonstrates that a decline in CO2 emissions is connected to remittance, renewable energy use and financial development. Additionally, our results stand up to various robustness tests, ensuring the reliability of our findings. Our research suggests that to reduce the adverse effects of non‐renewable energy on environmental quality, governments, regulators and other stakeholders should implement rigorous market regulations and allocate substantial financial resources to R&D for innovating environmentally friendly production technologies. The government may also provide incentives for importing environmentally friendly production tech, such as tax rebates and subsidies. This study investigates the asymmetric effects of remittance on economic growth (EG) and environmental quality in the purview of energy use, regulatory quality (REQ), and financial development (FD) in the top 20 remittance‐earning countries. It employs panel data from 1996 to 2020 and utilizes the generalized least square (GLS) estimation and the Dumitrescu–Hurlin causality test. The GLS result shows that remittance inflow has an asymmetric effect on EG as well as environmental quality, validated by a long run asymmetric test. Remittance shocks are beneficial for both EG and maintaining environmental quality in the context of the Environmental Kuznets Curve framework. Energy use; FD, and REQ all positively affect EG, whereas FD, REQ, and gross domestic product (GDP) are favorable for the environment except for energy use. According to a supplemented analysis, remittance and regulatory quality's combined influence on EG and CO2 are favorable, but regulatory quality's impact on the former is detrimental for both models. The results of the GLS estimation are endorsed by the causality analysis, which affirms their reliability. Positive remittance shock and financial development have bidirectional causality with EG, and both shocks of remittance and financial expansion have a two‐way association with CO2 emissions. Only REQ is affected by CO2 emissions. The outcomes have important policy implications for enhancing remittance inflow, ensuring smooth energy availability, a prudential financial system, and improving REQ to influence EG and control CO2 emissions effectively. This research is the maiden attempt to focus on the linkage between remittance outflow and environmental quality in Saudi Arabia, controlling ICT, environmental innovation, and energy consumption. It employs annual data from 1990 to 2020 and applies asymmetric and symmetric analyses based on "nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag (NARDL)" and "autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL)" approaches. The outcomes of the NARDL approach remain robust and stable. In contrast, the ADRL approach produces unreliable outcomes. The "dynamic ordinary least square (DOLS)" assessment validates the robustness of the NARDL approach. Our analysis reveals a long-run association among variables. Remittance outflow's overall impact on CO2 emissions is negative, with a negative effect of its negative shocks and an insignificant effect of its positive shocks. ICT's positive shocks significantly reduce environmental pollution, while its negative shock is still insignificant. When environmental technology advances, pollution decreases and increases when it declines. Energy use contributes to environmental degradation because most of the Kingdom's energy comes from nonrenewable sources. Our research suggests that policymakers should create policies that minimize remittance outflows, boost the deployment of ICT, increase the proportion of environmental technology in the total technology portfolio, and produce and use more renewable energies to reduce environmental pollution.
