A scoping review conducted by researchers from the Italian Workers' Compensation Authority (INAIL) aimed to provide insight into the occupational outcomes and challenges faced by workers with cancer, as well as interventions and practices to support their return to work. The review analyzed 53 eligible studies, most of which were conducted in Europe, and identified three main areas of focus: the impact of cancer on workers in terms of sick leave and employment, wider issues affecting workers such as treatment compatibility with work, and interventions or policies to promote the return to work. The review found a lack of multidisciplinary interventions combining physical, psycho-behavioral, educational, and vocational components, and recommended future studies to focus on interdisciplinary efforts involving multiple stakeholders.
