Abstract

Princeton University Division of Organic Chemistry Professor Daniel E. Kahne has studied the recognition of DNA sequences by oligosaccharide molecules attached to drugs. Using three sugar-bearing antitumor antibiotics, calicheamicin gamma 1, chromomycin A3 and ciclamycin O, Kahne has characterized the recognition and binding of the antibiotics to certain DNA sequences.
