With the improvement of people’s cultural level, more and more museums are being built or renovated. The design of lighting products for museums is a specialized field that requires designers to take into account a variety of factors, such as safety, presentation, and maintainability. As museum lighting systems meet the needs of conservation, visitor experience, and maintenance, the traditional design process is limited by the experience of the designer and the actual situation of the museum, and the actual light conservation effect of the exhibits is difficult to quantify. We have designed a digital-twin-based intelligent lighting system for museums, which can facilitate museum managers to quantify and manage the light life of exhibits while providing a more immersive viewing experience and recognition effect for visitors.

In lighting engineering, it has become necessary to develop new acquisition devices aligned with today’s technological needs, so that they can be easily integrated with IoT (Internet of things) systems. This allows recording lighting data in real-time either to perform analysis, estimate lighting quality measurements, or interact with intelligent lighting systems. Here a portable low-cost IoT hyperspectral acquisition device is presented, which can be used to perform measurements both indoors and outdoors. Since the device is part of IoT technologies, it has wireless communication and allows raw data to be sent to the cloud or to perform calculations directly within the device to be transmitted later. In addition, information on the hardware general design is provided and the device measurements uniformity is validated using the ASTM G-173-03 solar spectra. The proposed device can be used outdoors since its container is IP67 and it can simultaneously measure incident and diffuse radiation. On the other hand, the recorded data can be used for light source spectrum recovery, and to calculate light quality measurements. The hardware and software are customizable, which is an advantage over commercially available devices. The final cost of the device is 271.95 USD.

The paper puts forward and implements a method of designing and creating a modelling simulation environment for extensive and complete analysis of economical lighting on highways. From a general design viewpoint, the proposed solution explores the concept of a network description language (SMOL), which has been designed to describe the necessary network functions, mechanisms, and devices for the purpose of their computer simulation and verification. The presented results of the performed research confirm the usability of intelligent lighting on highways, both in the sense of the design concept and in the aspect of saving energy.

The push for ubiquitous networking and device inter-connectivity in buildings is fueling the development of a new wave of smart devices with embedded electronics, sensors and wireless connectivity that can collect, process and exchange data. Commonly known as the Internet of Things (IoT), it encompasses, but is not limited to wireless sensor networks, home automation, mobile devices and lighting control systems. Smart lighting systems are of particular interest as they evolve from traditional lighting control by introducing autonomous control of light through feedback from integrated sensors, user data, cloud services and user input, bringing with it a host of benefits including increased energy savings, enhanced functionality, and user-centric lighting. In this paper, we review the current state of the art in smart lighting technology, focusing on energy-saving, commercial, and advanced smart lighting systems. Furthermore, we also present a review of smart lighting connectivity options and discuss potential advancements through the integration of visible light communication technology.

As smartphones become increasingly powerful and ubiquitous, integrating them into intelligent lighting systems can boost both convenience and energy efficiency. This paper presents an intelligent lighting system prototype with enhanced security features for smart homes. The custom-built Android mobile application made use of the onboard ambient light sensor to run a novel closed-loop feedback algorithm to implement daylight harvesting. A cost analysis shows that the whole system setup is slightly cheaper than commercial products and due to its daylight harvesting capabilities, has potential for monetary savings in the long run, outperforming current commercial products.

The present paper deals with energy-efficient street lighting using LED technology. Depending on the voltage applied the LED luminous flux may vary. To ensure an efficient street lighting it is necessary to implement an on / off street lighting system schedule according to the geographical location by taking as a reference the times when the sun rises and sets for each day of the calendar year and to change the luminous flux of street lighting depending on the time of night. There are time periods during the night hours when the street lighting is very important, for example on the early morning hours or right after the sunset. In the remaining time periods luminous flux of LED lamps can be reduced after a well defined program. These goals can be achieved by using a Mitsubishi Alpha 2 PLC (AL2-10MR-A type) with four normally open contacts and by implementing a specific electric scheme at the street lighting system switching points.

As a complete urban space individual, the gymnasium must be considered to build energy conservation and environmental protection requirements. Based on this research background, the thesis analyzes whether it can be energy-saving and environmentally friendly by exploring natural ventilation technology and intelligent lighting for green buildings, using CFD and airpark combined with thermal comfort and body temperature. Research has shown that through the CAN bus intelligent lighting system, combined with the opening and closing of the building gymnasium roof to meet the ventilation conditions, the gymnasium’s necessary energy-saving and environmental protection can be realized.

In commercial buildings, lighting constitutes a large proportion of energy consumption. Saving lighting energy in commercial buildings has aroused great interest among researchers. Achieving energy savings and satisfying lighting comfort are the two primary objectives in designing a lighting system. In this paper, a fuzzy logic controller was designed that considered daylight, movement information and lighting comfort. The DALI protocol was used to communicate the controller with LED luminaires. The simulation results demonstrate that lighting system without control can provide sufficient illumination. The lighting system provides wider controllability to make lighting environment operating at the most energy-saving state. The experimental results show that by using the designed controller, significant lighting energy can be saved. The office where the smart LED lighting system is installed can regulate lighting output automatically based on users’ movements and allow users to choose their own lighting preferences.

Based on STC microprocessor as a center of the transmitting and receiving parts, apply the interrupt systems, timers, counters integrated. Using Code-Division infrared coding, infrared receiver distinguishes the light pulse , judges and makes the corresponding control actions to complete the all infrared remote control transmitter and receiver process. Combination of the software programs, after commissioning the system can achieve multiple dimming function, such as LED lamp PWM dimming, alternating current filament lamp dimming, multiple channel switches. The system realized the function that weak power can control not only flea power but also strong power. This system has the feature of simple hardware circuit, sophisticated software capability, high cost performance. At the same time the study of intelligent lighting control system contributes to the improvement and development of the intelligent home system.

In this paper, we present an energy-saving controller that is capable of shaping the light output of an LED lighting system autonomously based on data received from sensors. We implement an optimized smart algorithm on a controller to process the sensor feedback and employ pulse width modulation dimming to vary the brightness of the luminaire. A wireless sensor module was designed to provide accurate sensor feedback to the controller. A purpose-built smart luminaire complete with an LED driver was designed and constructed to study the performance of the control system. We validate the energy saving potential of the designed controller under different real world situations. It is shown experimentally that the controller achieved 55% energy savings in a continuous usage pattern environment and 62% energy savings in a discrete usage pattern environment under our test conditions. A cost analysis showed that the proposed energy-saving system is 32% more cost-effective than a near-equivalent commercial system while promising greater energy savings through the use of additional energy-saving techniques.

An Intelligent Lighting Control System (ILCS) was proposed and designed by considering ergonomic setting and energy efficiency. The integration of CompactRIO as a main hardware and National Instrument Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench (NI LabVIEW) 2012 as a platform to design an interactive Graphical User Interface (GUI) as well as integrating components within the system. The proportional–integral–derivative (PID) controller programmed in NI LabVIEW provides autonomous dimmer control and adjustment of the light-emitting diode (LED) lamp with respect to present Lux value. Performance tests conducted shows the developed system capable of controlling the luminosity of the LED lamp based on the luminance set point. Moreover, the result also showed the average power saving of up to 33% compared to normal use. This paper studies the food enterprise mode, information management approaches under Internet of Things environment and proposed an intelligent lighting control system in the food enterprise. Using CC2530 of the TI Company, the system researches and designs a sending module and a receiving module of intelligent wireless lighting control system. The ZigBee terminal node sends control signal to the coordinator node. The coordinator node CC2530 output of PWM wave signal according to the control instruction signal the output of the PWM wave signal controlled the LED brightness through PT4115 chip LED driver circuit. Through tests, the results show that it can meet the demand of daily light regulation.

In view of the inefficiency and the poor flexibility of the recent intelligent lighting control system, this paper proposes a new control method starting from sensor, controller and LED driver circuit, meanwhile connecting with the Internet of things technologies. The most striking feature of this control is that it is refactored in the aspect of the whole system, which can reach the purposes of scene control, timing control, multi-zone control and remote control, etc. This paper also elaborates the hardware circuit design and the working principle of the control system and the method to realize the remote control. The system can operate simply, control efficiently, transmit reliably, manage easily.

Systems in the real world are becoming more intelligent, however intelligence has not been widely applied to lighting systems, which are necessary and indispensable parts of human life[1].In this paper, we propose a explosion-proof LED intelligent lighting system for the chemical production, it integrates MCU technology, sensor technology, ZigBee wireless communication technology, WCDMA 3G mobile internet technology, it could overcome the defects of traditional lighting in the chemical production, like poor management, single control, waste of human resources. The level of explosion-proof safety and lighting efficiency will be enhanced.The system could be an instance of intelligent lighting applications.

Combining practical LED lighting system and CPS theory, hierarchical structure of LED intelligent lighting control system is put forward. And on the basis of the designed system framework, this paper gives the LED intelligent control system based on ZigBee – Wi-Fi structure.

보안구역 내의 외곽울타리지역의 경비체제를 인적경비에서 과학화경비로 전환함에 따라 안정된 보안설비의 적정관리를 위한 조명개선이 요구되어진다. 본 논문에서는 효율적인 외곽 감시를 수행할 수 있도록 경비과학화시스템에 적합한 등기구 선정과 균일한 조도환경을 조성하기 위하여 조명설비의 부적절한 적용으로 모니터에 눈부심이 심한 울타리 지역을 선정하여 LED 등의 용량을 변화시키며 등기구의 각도, 등주간의 거리, 등기구의 취부높이 등의 조정에 따른 현장 모의실험으로 감시모니터에 발생하는 눈부심을 해소시키고자 하였다. 또한 모의실험 조건에 따른 CCTV 화면분석과 조도값을 바탕으로 공항 외곽지역과 유사한 조건으로 조명 모델링하고 소비전력이 다른 LED 광원을 이용한 시뮬레이션 실시로 공항 외곽보안설비의 적정운영 위한 조명설계안을 제시하고자 한다. 【Lighting improvements are needed for adequate operation of security installations according to the turn of scientific policing instead of human policing. It is serious that the electric energy waste exists in highway tunnel operation. Operators and institutes of scientific research pay more and more attention that how to reduce the energy consumption of lighting system of highway tunnels, improve the effect of tunnel lighting and ensure traffic safety. In order to solve the problem of the current tunnel lighting system with high energy consumption, a tunnel lighting intelligent control system based on environmental information perception and vehicle behavior information perception is proposed in this paper for ChiBai tunnel project. In this system, the existence of the vehicle or not is the basis of lighting state switching, environmental information and vehicle behavior information are the basis for calculation of the lighting brightness, pavement illuminance is real-time monitored by the monitoring cameras, closed-loop feedback control of the lighting brightness is achieved through real-time monitoring of pavement illuminance and PID algorithm. The intelligent control system is composed of five parts, in this paper, there are detailed introductions about the function of various parts of the system, including hardware structure, connecting method and the system of dimming control strategy, software functions and the equipment layout position.

Studies show that if we retrofit all the lighting systems in the buildings of California with dimming ballasts, then it would be possible to obtain a 450 MW of regulation, 2.5 GW of nonspinning reserve, and 380 MW of contingency reserve from participation of lighting loads in the energy market. However, in order to guarantee participation, it will be important to monitor and model lighting demand and supply in buildings. To this end, wireless sensor and actuator networks have proven to bear a great potential for personalized intelligent lighting with reduced energy use at 50%-70%. Closed-loop control of these lighting systems relies upon instantaneous and dense sensing. Such systems can be expensive to install and commission. In this paper, we present a sensor-based intelligent lighting system for future grid-integrated buildings. The system is intended to guarantee participation of lighting loads in the energy market, based on predictive models of indoor light distribution, developed using sparse sensing. We deployed ~92 % fewer sensors compared with state-of-art systems using one photosensor per luminaire. The sensor modules contained small solar panels that were powered by ambient light. Reduction in sensor deployments is achieved using piecewise linear predictive models of indoor light, discretized by clustering for sky conditions and sun positions. Day-ahead daylight is predicted from forecasts of temperature, humidity, and cloud cover. With two weeks of daylight and artificial light training data acquired at the sustainability base at NASA Ames, our model was able to predict the illuminance at seven monitored workstations with 80%-95% accuracy. Moreover, our support vector regression model was able to predict day-ahead daylight at ~92% accuracy.

Recently, solar LED lighting systems are widely used because of their energy-saving and environment friendly characteristics. Stage lighting and music control system plays an increasingly important role in stage performances. But in the actual control process of stage lighting and music, there is a deviation between the scene stage lighting expected and the scene with actual projection. An operator needs to debug many times before or in the performance. With the ARM microcontroller as core chips, the paper designs an intelligent stage lighting and music control system which have intellisense. The lighting console conducts wireless and remote control over the stepping motor of computer lights through NRF905 wireless RF(Radio Frequency) module. The computer lights system adopts 32-bit ARM-based processor manufactured by Luminary company as the main controller and two-phase hybrid stepping motor as the executive component. With infrared sensor, FLASH memory, SD card and Usb interface, the system has features as intelligent control, intelligent storage and plug and play. The system gets good scalability.

In the process of large scale design of intelligent lighting system, the adjustable light is used for lighting, it can save a lot of energy, and lighting and energy-saving are completed. Therefore, large-scale intelligent lighting system is proposed in this paper, and the system design is obtained. According to the situation, the sensor is used to gather the natural state of the light. A reasonable illumination condition is selected. The voltage conversion processing is taken, and adjustable lighting control model is established. Simulation results show that the large-scale intelligent lighting system is applied in the lighting, the power consumption of lighting can be reduced, and the satisfactory results are obtained.

Due to the rapid development of intelligent lighting technologies, those intelligences, just like smooth dimming control, communication and networking, lumen control, predictive failure and maintenance, daylight harvesting, etc., which offers us a opportunity to incorporate non-traditional capabilities into our lighting design and makes the intelligent lighting solutions more attractive. In this paper, we provide a low energy consumption method by using MPSO algorithm and simple illumination calculation method, to simulate the optimized illumination distribution results on a specified space in virtual scene.

While the efficacy of a fixture gets decided by the technology but we always need to look for optimisation of usage by minimising human interference during operation and control. The paper gives an insight in to control of lighting system in a smart manner with least human interference. Smart lighting system comprises of the Main server, local controllers and LED lighting fixtures. For street lighting systems, the communication between Main server and local controllers is through GSM network while that between local controllers and lighting fixtures is in two ways viz through power cabling network or through RF communication. For indoor lighting systems for the case of main server within the premises, the communication between the components of the smart lighting system is either hard wired or through RF communication. Different types of sensors are provided like photo sensor, motion sensor and astronomical timer. Based on the inputs of the sensor, the lighting is either switched ON/OFF or dimmed. The dimming action is by controlling the input voltage to the fixture or driver. The control can be either individual or in groups.

In this paper, we establish the adaptive backstepping controller designed using the standard technique aiming at the class of block-strict-feedback nonlinear system subject to unknown constant parameters. We have given the tuning function at every step of the design which used for parameters estimation. An illustration example is proposed and then used in the intelligent lighting test platform to prove the practical application of the adaptive backstepping control method.

This study focuses on an automated lighting control system for workplaces equipped with displays subject to special standard requirements. We propose an automated LED-lighting control system equipped with the DALI-controller. To improve power efficiency, we decided to design a combined lighting system, which considers daylight illumination and artificial light sources. For that purpose, workrooms were selected and 24-hour daylight distribution dependent on the window aperture orientations were taken into account. Significant differences at daylight levels with the opposite window orientation were not proven. The designed flow chart, system operation rules and the algorithm making provision for daylight effects were bases for the proposed solution of the compact detection device equipped with two sensors (measurements of illumination at the worktable area and on screen surface).

Aiming at the defects of traditional manual operation and wiring of the traditional lighting system, this paper puts forward a design scheme of LED lighting control system based on ZigBee wireless sensor network technology. With the change of the environment parameters and the preset lighting mode, the system can respond quickly and automatically, and realize the PWM linear non-polar dimming. Based on the platform of PC host real-time monitoring and management of LED lighting control system to overcome the shortcomings of traditional lighting inefficient management and personnel loss. The results show that the system can realize real-time acquisition, accurate control and centralized management of environmental parameters.

Increasing resident’s comfort and reducing energy costs have always been two primary objectives of intelligent lighting control systems. It is quite difficult to provide control satisfying the level of individual comfort, sufficient illumination and the energy reduction goals simultaneously. However, finding the balance between resident’s preferred and recommended illumination for the current resident’s activity may be beneficial. This paper addresses the problem of ensuring semi–autonomous assistance in controlling the intensity of light sources. The proposed decision making algorithm allows to provide gradual adaptation to the recommended illumination according the resident’s activity. In this paper, WiFi intelligent lighting system is divided into three parts, Android client of WiFi lighting system, WiFi system design and service terminal design of WiFi communication system. Design concepts of the three parts are also analyzed. The design sketch and the comprehensive operating process of WiFi lighting system are provided in the end.

The growing interest in the SmartHome based on wireless networks necessitates the development of an effective scheme which can control household equipment and detect home environment intelligently. On the other hand, current market products only concentrate on small parts of the SmartHome and lots of them are lack of remote control function. Furthermore, there are few mature products to realize in-door wireless localization. Therefore, existing systems cannot meet users’ needs completely. To fill this void, in this paper, a comprehensive smart home scheme is proposed, called the Intelligent Home Control System, which realizes intelligent lighting via PWM, indoor localization, detection of formaldehyde, CO2 and smoke on the basis of CC2530. The main idea here is to transmit data collected by sensors to our system server through the ZigBee network and adjust the lights according to the data parsing results. We can also use mobile devices to communicate with server via GSM network to control household devices and observe home environment.

In this paper design and successful implementation of a central intelligent lighting control system to realize the power consumption in street lighting network is addressed. Considering the importance of realizing energy saving in electrical power distribution network, some HID lamps of the type vastly used in public lighting were tested under voltage dimming control. According to test results, appropriate lighting control system has been applied. The final hardware has been installed in the corresponding distribution substation and the three-day data logging results of its operation approves the realized energy saving. Also, the economic aspects of the project have been investigated and the final results show a good interest of doing other similar projects.

This paper presents the methodology and results of several trials carried out in order to test the effects of impulsive noise source in IoT wireless systems. The impulsive noise generated by fluorescent lamps at 433 MHz and 868 MHz has been measured and recorded. Using these measurements an impulsive noise generator has been developed. Then, with the generated noise two IoT systems have been interfered and the results have been analyzed. The studied systems are a remote control operating at 433.92 MHz and an intelligent lighting based on Z-Wave protocol at 868.42 MHz. The methodology of the procedure is explained and the most relevant results are exposed.

An imaging sensor-based intelligent Light Emitting Diode (LED) lighting system for desk use is proposed. In contrast to the traditional intelligent lighting system, such as the photosensitive resistance sensor-based or the infrared sensor-based system, the imaging sensor can realize a finer perception of the environmental light; thus it can guide a more precise lighting control. Before this system works, first lots of typical imaging lighting data of the desk application are accumulated. Second, a series of subjective and objective Lighting Effect Evaluation Metrics (LEEMs) are defined and assessed for these datasets above. Then the cluster benchmarks of these objective LEEMs can be obtained. Third, both a single LEEM-based control and a multiple LEEMs-based control are developed to realize a kind of optimal luminance tuning. When this system works, first it captures the lighting image using a wearable camera. Then it computes the objective LEEMs of the captured image and compares them with the cluster benchmarks of the objective LEEMs. Finally, the single LEEM-based or the multiple LEEMs-based control can be implemented to get a kind of optimal lighting effect. Many experiment results have shown the proposed system can tune the LED lamp automatically according to environment luminance changes.

According to current situation of green environmental protection lighting policy and traditional residential lighting system automation degree, low energy efficiency, difficult to management and other problems, the residential area streetlight monitoring management system based on ZigBee and GPRS is proposed. This design is put forward by using sensor technology, ZigBee and GPRS wireless communication technology network. To realize intelligent lighting parameters adjustment, coordination control method of various kinds of sensors is used. The system through multiple ZigBee nodes topology network to collect street light’s information, each subnet through the ZigBee coordinator and GPRS network to transmit data. The street lamps can be put on or off, or be adjusted the brightness automatic ally according to the surrounding environmental illumination.

This includes how LEDs are used in agriculture and how the color of the light affects plant growth. Light bulb and tube replacements are discussed, along with swimming pool and vehicle lights.

In the development of the modern society, one of the key factors is to save energy in order to become more independent of other energy resources. Two important approaches can be taken—one is to change behavior and thereby save energy—the second one is to develop new technology which is able to save energy in different applications. This chapter will give an overview of challenges and possibilities in terms of energy saving and also energy efficient use. This includes a discussion on high efficiency power electronics devices and the systems they are used for energy loss reduction. The key enabling technologies are power electronics, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as well as systems to carry the electrical energy through power transmission, conversion and distribution. A couple of examples will be given to demonstrate the energy saving possibilities by power electronics systems, such as in the applications of adjustable speed drives and solid-state lighting systems. Power electronics gives also a high flexibility when renewable power production is introduced to electrical energy systems. Future research opportunities and challenges will finally be discussed.

According to the characteristics of the AC LED circuit, drive circuit with bidirectional thyristor as a core device design, the system can realize AC LED lighting intelligent open a brightness control. Testing by the actual circuit, circuit work is stable and reliable, has reached the design requirements.

The low utilization rate of the traditional lighting system lighting and the overall layout and wiring costs high affecting the overall appearance and so many problems. This design of an intelligent lighting control system based on ZigBee technology. Using ZigBee CC2530 of the TI Company, the system researches and designs a sending module and a receiving module of intelligent wireless lighting control system. The ZigBee terminal node sends control signal to the coordinator node. The coordinator node CC2530 output of PWM wave signal according to the control instruction signal. the output of the PWM wave signal controlled the LED brightness through PT4115 chip LED driver circuit. Through tests,the results show that it can meet the demand of daily light regulation.

Front-Lighting system of intelligent automobile can automatically provide the shape of lighting which is needed by car in present situation. Adjust and control the shape of lighting in bend. It can take different actions and automatic adjustment to the changes of vehicle driving, according to the road condition, time interval and weather variation .and thus it can realize the control. The paper introduces the AFS system structure diagram, working principle, and working process. It plays an important role in running safety at night.

In the paper hardware and software of lighting control system are designed within the office building based on C-bus. In terms of hardware design, C-bus controller is chosen as the main control part of the whole process to implement the lighting dimming control. In the aspect of software design, the use of C-bus programming software can realize the characteristics of the complete set, multi-channel dimming light and infrared induction control implementation. The black and white touch screen is used to complete the multi-channel dimming of parameter settings and information display.
