Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior Neste trabalho foram abordadas formulações para análise da estabilidade estrutural de arcos simétricos, com forma circular, por meio da determinação da força referente ao primeiro modo de flambagem (força crítica). Quatro condições de carregamento foram propostas para análise: força uniformemente distribuída na direção radial, força verticalmente concentrada no meio do vão, força uniformemente distribuída ao longo do vão e força concentrada na direção radial. Três modelos para análise foram desenvolvidos a partir das formulações, sendo um modelo teórico obtido pela resolução da equação diferencial de deslocamento radial, um modelo matricial de análise por autovalor a partir do Método das Foças Elásticas, e um modelo aproximado usando o Método dos Resíduos Ponderados e o Método de Galerkin. O modelo teórico foi desenvolvido para análise de arcos triarticulados, biarticulados e biengastados, enquanto os demais modelos foram voltados à análise de arcos biarticulados. Para comparação dos resultados foram atribuídos valores para o ângulo de abertura do arco e relação flecha/vão a fim de caracterizar coeficientes de flambagem, e realizada simulação numérica em programa computacional baseado no Método dos Elementos Finitos. Foi constatado que os modelos propostos forneceram resultados similares para a análise de arcos biarticulados, e que a relação flecha/vão próxima de 0,3 possibilita valores elevados para os coeficientes de flambagem segundo as condições de carregamento avaliadas, possibilitando ao arco maior eficiência quanto à estabilidade. Também foi desenvolvido um programa computacional destinado à determinação da força crítica de flambagem em arcos circulares. This research presents formulations for structural stability analysis of symmetrical arches with circular shape by determining the load related to the first buckling mode (critical load). Four loading conditions were suggested for analysis: uniform distributed load in the radial direction, concentrated load vertically in the middle of the span, uniform distributed load in the span direction and radial concentrated load. Three models were formulated for analysis, being a theoretical model obtained from the differential radial displacement equation resolution, a matrix model with eigenvalue analysis obtained from the Elastic Loads Method, and an approximate model using the Weighted Residual Method and the Galerkin Method. The theoretical model was developed for three-hinged, two-hinged, and hingeless arch analysis, while the others models were developed for two-hinged arch analysis only. To compare the results were assigned values for the arch’s opening angle in order to characterize buckling coefficients, and performed numerical simulation with Finite Element Analysis software. The proposed models provide similar results for the analysis of two-hinged arches, and the rise-to-span ratio almost 0.3 allows high values for buckling coefficients evaluated according to the loading conditions, allowing the arch to be more stability efficiently. CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior Os objetivos deste trabalho foram estudar o comportamento mecânico de blocos sobre duas estacas metálicas em perfil I sob ação de força centrada mediante diferentes arranjos da ligação estaca-bloco e avaliar modelos analíticos recomendados pela literatura técnica. Foi feita uma modelagem computacional por meio do programa computacional ANSYS® de um bloco sobre duas estacas, comparada com os resultados experimentais de Tomaz (2018). A partir dos parâmetros desta modelagem foram elaborados 63 modelos numéricos. Por meio de uma análise de variância dos resultados verificou-se que as variáveis que influênciaram sobre a capacidade portante dos blocos foram o comprimento de embutimento e a resistência à compressão do concreto. Foi desenvolvido um programa experimental com 3 espécimes em escala real de blocos sobre duas estacas metálicas, nos quais variou-se o tipo de arranjo da ligação entre estaca e bloco. Foram estudadas os arranjos da ligação por meio de barras soldadas e por meio de barras soldadas com estribos amarrados às mesmas. Os tipos de arranjo da ligação não influenciaram sobre a capacidade portante dos blocos, porém a ligação entre estaca e bloco por meio de barras soldadas ao perfil e estribos melhorou a distribuição de fissuras e a ductilidade. O modelo analítico de Meléndez et al. (2019) foi o mais preciso na determinação da força de ruína dos blocos. O critério de caracterização de comportamento de blocos sobre estacas adotado pela ABNT NBR 6118 (2014) não é adequado pois não considera a inclinação da biela de compressão, que é um dos principais parâmetros de dimensionamento. The objective of this research was to study the mechanic behavior of pile caps on two steel piles submitted to centered loading with different arrangements of the connection between pile and pile cap and to evaluate analytical models found on the technical literature. A numerical analysis of a pile cap on two steel piles was made by using the software ANSYS®, compared with experimental results from Tomaz (2018). From the parameters defined on the numerical analysis, 63 other numerical models were developed. An analysis of variance of the results obtained pointed that the variables that had an impact over the pile cap’s bearing capacity were the embedment length of the pile and the compressive strength of the concrete. An experimental program with three models of full-scale pile caps on two steel piles were executed, in which the type of arrangement of the connection between pile and pile cap varied. The types of arrangement studied were bars welded on the steel pile and bars welded on the steel pile along with stirrups. The type of arrangement had no impact on the pile cap’s bearing capacity, however, the arrangement with bars welded on the steel pile along with stirrups improved the crack distribution and ductility. The analytical model from Meléndez et al. (2019) was the most precise on predicting the ultimate load of the pile caps. The criteria from ABNT NBT 6118 (2014) that characterizes the behavior of pile caps is not adequate as it does not consider the inclination of the strut, which is one of the main parameters of design. Blocos sobre estacas são elementos estruturais usados para transferir ações da superestrutura para um conjunto de estacas. O dimensionamento de blocos é comumente realizado por meio de formulações analíticas, considerando-se o método de bielas e tirantes. Com o avanço da tecnologia computacional, a utilização de um modelo integrado de solo e fundação, pode sugerir uma tendência de comportamento de modo a se obter uma modelagem mais real para o elemento estrutural em estudo. Este trabalho teve como objetivo analisar, numericamente com o método dos elementos finitos, o comportamento estrutural de blocos de concreto armado sobre duas estacas considerando o atrito lateral entre as estacas e o solo e a parcela de força transferida ao solo diretamente através do bloco utilizando-se o software ANSYS (Versão 18.1). O atrito lateral foi modelado considerando acoplamento de nós e através de elementos de contato. Foram realizadas simulações considerando solo arenoso, argiloso e ausência de solo, três alturas de bloco e três comprimentos de estaca. Os parâmentros do solo foram obtidos através de métodos semi-empíricos. Através das análises, verificou-se que, em média, 4,50% da força aplicada no pilar é transferida diretamente ao solo através do bloco. Com relação às tensões principais de compressão, na região nodal superior, a biela tende a se formar além da seção do pilar. Observou-se, ainda, que o aumento da rigidez do bloco proporcionou, em média, um aumento da capacidade portante dos modelos. Pile caps are structural elements used to transfer actions from the superstructure to a group of piles. The design of caps is normally made through analytical formulations, considering the strut and tie method. With the advancement of computational technology, the use of an integrated soil and foundation model may suggest a behavioral trend in order to obtain a more real modeling for the structural element in study. This work aimed to analyze numerically with de finite element method the structural behavior of reinforced concrete pile caps with two piles considering the lateral friction between the piles and the ground as well as to analyze the part of load transferred to the ground directly by cap using the software ANSYS (Release 18.1). The lateral friction was modeled considering coupling of nodes and through contact elements. Simulations were performed considering three soil types (sandy, clayey and soilless), three caps heights and three piles lengths. Soil parameters were obtained through semi-empirical methods. Through the analyzes, it was verified that, on average, 4.50% of the force applied to the pillar is transferred directly to the ground by cap. About to the principal stresses of compression, it was verified that in the superior nodal region, the strut tends to form beyond the section of the column. On the other hand, the increase of the stiffness of the caps provided, on average, an increase in the carrying capacity of the models. Dissertação (Mestrado)

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior Conventional structural analysis of buildings in reinforced concrete is performed considering beam-column connections as rigid. However, experimental results prove the existence of relative rotations in beam-column connections of reinforced concrete structures, showing the partial transfer of bending moment. In this study the influence of the stiffness of beam-column connections on the structural behavior of multi-storey buildings in reinforced concrete was investigated. On a first stage, the value of the rotation restriction of connections was varied, observing the impact on horizontal displaceability of the structure, on the γz coefficient, on the negative and positive moments of the beams and on the longitudinal reinforcement of the pillars. This analysis was performed for buildings with 05, 10, 15 and 19 floors. The results show that the reduction of the rotation restriction of connections increases the values of the horizontal displacements, of the γz coefficient, of the positive moments and of the reinforcement of the pillars. The increases that occur on the values of the analyzed parameters become larger as the number of floors of buildings increases. On a second stage, the same building was calculated with rigid connections and deformable connections. In order to determine the factor αR of deformable connections, two analytical models available in literature were used, and a comparison between the results obtained by each analytical model was also performed. Based on the results, it is concluded that neglecting the influence of the stiffness of the beam-column connections on the analysis of monolithic reinforced concrete structures may result in different solutions compared to the real behavior of the structure. The stiffness values obtained with the analytical models that were used differ considerably from the condition of rigid connections, suggesting an adjustment on the standard consideration of rigid connections adopted by the computer programs of structural calculation. A análise estrutural convencional de edificações em concreto armado é realizada considerando as ligações viga-pilar como rígidas. Entretanto, resultados experimentais comprovam a existência de rotações relativas nas ligações viga-pilar de estruturas de concreto armado, evidenciando a transmissão parcial de momento fletor. Neste trabalho foi investigada a influência da rigidez das ligações viga-pilar no comportamento estrutural de edificações de múltiplos pavimentos em concreto armado. Em uma primeira etapa, variou-se o valor de restrição à rotação das ligações observando os impactos na deslocabilidade horizontal da estrutura, no coeficiente γz, nos momentos negativos e positivos das vigas e nas armaduras longitudinais dos pilares. Esta análise foi realizada para edificações com 05, 10, 15 e 19 pavimentos. Observou-se por meio dos resultados que a redução da rigidez à rotação das ligações provoca aumento nos valores dos deslocamentos horizontais, do coeficiente γz, dos momentos positivos das vigas e das armaduras dos pilares. Os acréscimos ocorridos nos valores dos parâmetros analisados são maiores à medida em que se aumentam o número de pavimentos das edificações. Em uma segunda etapa, calculou-se uma mesma edificação com ligações rígidas e com ligações deformáveis. Para determinação da restrição à rotação das ligações deformáveis, utilizaram-se dois modelos analíticos disponíveis na literatura, realizando-se, também, uma comparação entre os resultados obtidos pelos modelos. Com base nos resultados, conclui-se que negligenciar a influência da rigidez das ligações viga-pilar na análise de estruturas monolíticas em concreto armado pode gerar soluções muito diferentes do comportamento real da estrutura na prática. Os valores de rigidez obtidos pelos modelos analíticos utilizados divergem consideravelmente da condição de ligações rígidas, sugerindose a adequação na consideração padrão de ligações rígidas adotada pelos programas computacionais de cálculo estrutural. For the architect, it has the important function of enabling more real the design of the building. It also helps to understand the behavior of the structure, leading to a coherent and functional design. To the structural engineer, the pre design enters as a tool for determining the dimensions of cross section, that is needed in the design process. In most cases, the pre design is done based the intuition and experience of the engineer. In this work, the formulations and analysis are mainly discussed for common buildings, where the material of the structure is steel, wood or concrete. The calculation of the section is made from the designed structural project, which defines the spans, supports and loads. The dimensions are obtained from the formulations of the Strength of Materials, easy to use and understand, and empirical formulations, where support and loadings conditions are defined in a simplified manner. The updating parameter for approximate formulations is the design traditionally done according to the standards. Analyzes are also make of the pre design formulations for existing buildings as a way of measure their approach to practical the structural designs. The results show that it is possible to create simple formulas for pre design, leading to a good approximation of design values, which makes this approach a useful tool in architectural design. O pré-dimensionamento consiste numa estimativa inicial das dimensões das seções dos elementos estruturais. Para o arquiteto, ele tem a importante função de permitir a concepção do projeto arquitetônico de maneira mais real. Além disso, também auxilia no entendimento do comportamento da estrutura, levando a uma concepção coerente e funcional. Para o engenheiro que desenvolve cálculo estrutural, o pré-dimensionamento entra como ferramenta de determinação da seção das peças, o que é necessário no dimensionamento. Na maioria dos casos, o pré-dimensionamento é feito com base na intuição e experiência do engenheiro. Neste trabalho as formulações e análises são enfocadas principalmente para edificações comuns, onde o material da estrutura portante é o aço, a madeira ou o concreto. A obtenção da seção das peças é feita a partir do projeto estrutural concebido, o qual define os vãos, os apoios e os carregamentos. As dimensões são obtidas de fórmulas da Resistência dos Materiais, de fácil utilização e compreensão, e de fórmulas empíricas, onde as condições de apoio e de carregamento são definidas de maneira simplificada. O parâmetro de ajuste e balizamento das fórmulas aproximadas de pré-dimensionamento é o dimensionamento, feito tradicionalmente segundo as normas. Além disso, as fórmulas foram reajustadas a partir das dimensões de estruturas de edifícios existentes, como uma forma de medir sua aproximação ao cálculo estrutural realizado na prática. Os resultados mostraram que é possível criar fórmulas simples de pré-dimensionamento, que levam à uma boa aproximação aos valores de projeto, o que torna esta abordagem uma ferramenta útil na concepção arquitetônica. The objective of this work is to study the external reinforcement of concrete slabs, using Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers (CFRP), through numerical simulations and topology optimization. The topology optimization enters as a tool for determining the optimal distribution of the reinforcement. Due to the high ratio strength / specific weight of CFRP, we can increase the strength and stiffness of structural elements without significant increase in the weight. The simulations were performed by using Finite Element Method. Several geometric configurations, boundary conditions and loading were analyzed. The cracking of the concrete was considered in the analysis, because this effect influences the structural behavior of the slab. For some cases of concrete slabs, the reinforcement was calculated in the Ultimate Limit State, in order to compare the conventional and optimized distributions. Gains in terms of stiffness and strength of the reinforced piece have been verified. Comparison with conventional method shows that the use of topology optimization can lead to an economy of reinforcement material, with the same structural performance. O objetivo deste trabalho é estudar a distribuição do reforço externo de lajes de concreto armado, utilizando Polímeros Reforçados por Fibras de Carbono (PRFC), através de simulações numéricas e otimização topológica. A otimização topológica entra como uma ferramenta para a determinação da distribuição ótima do reforço. Devido à alta relação resistência/peso específico dos PRFC, pode-se aumentar a resistência e a rigidez de elementos estruturais sem aumento significativo do peso. As simulações foram feitas através do Método dos Elementos Finitos. Diversas configurações geométricas, de contorno e de carregamento foram analisadas. A fissuração do concreto foi considerada nas análises, pois tem influência no comportamento estrutural da laje. Para alguns casos de lajes, o reforço foi dimensionado no Estado Limite Último, permitindo a comparação da técnica convencional de reforço com aquela gerada pela otimização topológica. Foram verificados os ganhos em termos de rigidez e de resistência das peças reforçadas. A comparação com o método convencional mostrou que o uso da otimização topológica pode levar a uma economia de material de reforço, com o mesmo desempenho estrutural. Mestre em Engenharia Civil
