Objective: To design and validate a nursing intervention and its effect on improving self-management behaviors in patients with colorectal cancer following surgery within eight weeks after discharge. Method: Pilot study using Sidane and Braden's intervention design proposal, which included determining the guiding theoretical model, characterization of the intervention, validation with eight experts through content validity, and a pilot test with ten patients during the second semester of 2020. Results: The intervention obtained, called the Program for Self-Management Training in Colorectal Cancer (PEACCR, by its acronym in Spanish), is based on the theory of individual and family self-management in the dimensions proposed by Ryan and Sawin. The validity with experts indicates that it meets the criteria of clarity, precision, comprehension, relevance, and pertinence. The pilot reports an increase in self-management behaviors and the dimensions of knowledge, coping, and health personnel-patient alliance in months 1 and 2, with statistical significance. Conclusions: The designed and validated intervention increases the self-management behaviors of patients with colorectal cancer. The proposed scheme is highly acceptable to participants. Objective. To assess the psychometric properties of an instrument designed to measure the work environment for nursing care practice. Method. A four-phase methodological study: 1) item development and drafting, 2) expert face and content validity, 3) pilot testing, 4) construct validity, and reliability. Results. ENLASA-Nursing is an instrument consisting of 59 items divided into two parts. Part A: organizational structural components dimension, and Part B: organizational process dimension. The results obtained allowed for classifying each part as satisfactory in terms of face and content validity, with satisfactory internal consistency and an internal structure that recognized the conceptual elements of a healthy work environment supporting its content. Conclusions. ENLASA-Nursing is a valid and reliable instrument, promising for research and evaluation of healthy work environments for clinical nurses in the hospital setting in Colombia. To develop a simulated scenario with a therapeutic toy for use in health education and to validate it. This is a methodological development research. Validated remotely through a structured form. The Content Validity Index was calculated and the comments of the six participating experts were analyzed. The scenario "Therapeutic toy for health education" as a means to guide the family member about tracheostomy, the checklist of expected behaviors, the Content Validity Index of 0.93 and the experts' comments pointed to the reproducibility of the simulated scenario created. Background: Institutional foster care is a protective strategy for children/adolescents at risk in which nurses are responsible for health education, health promotion, and health care. Objective: To validate a protocol of nurses' responsibilities in institutional foster care settings for children and adolescents. Methodology: Delphi study with two rounds for validation of the protocol that was built after a literature review and field research. A Delphi survey was used to validate the protocol by 12 international experts with experience in clinical practice, teaching, and research. The minimum agreement rate of 80% was considered. The modified Guidance on Conducting and REporting DElphi studies (CREDES) was used. Results: The protocol was validated, with an agreement rate of 90% in the second round, after expert consensus on the items related to the managerial, care, educational, and sociopolitical categories of nurses' responsibilities. Introduction: The Orientation to Life questionnaire measures the sense of coherence, a concept related to the use of coping resources that have a positive influence leading to a better quality of life and sense of well-being for adults with cardiovascular disease. Objective: To determine the validity and reliability of Antonovsky's Orientation to Life questionnaire in adults with arterial hypertension. Method: Methodological study in which cultural adaptation was carried out and the reliability and face, content, and construct validity were determined. In the cultural adaptation, a process of translation, consensus, and back-translation was followed. Content and face validity were met by expert judgment, using the Fleiss' kappa coefficient and modified Lawshe index statistical tests. Two hundred and twenty people participated in the construct validity and reliability test. Reliability was calculated using the Cronbach's alpha statistical test. Results: In terms of face validity, the instrument reported a Fleiss kappa index greater than 0.41, interpreted as moderate agreement. The content validity index was satisfactory with 0.87; the exploratory factor analysis reported three factors with a total explained variance of 36.21%. Cronbach's alpha was 0.82 for the full scale. Conclusions: The Spanish version of the Orientation to Life instrument presents an adequate content validity and reliability index for use in the local context. Objective: To construct and validate a questionnaire for the evaluation of Knowledge, Attitude and Practice on the process of Organ and Tissue Donation. Methodology: Methodological study for the construction and validation of the questionnaire to be applied to professionals working in the Intra-Hospital Organ and Transplant Tissue Commissions. In the first stage, a bibliographical survey and formulation of the content of the questions was carried out. In the second, the selection of the judges and validation of the face and content of the questionnaire were performed by calculating the Content Validity Index (IVC), with a cutoff value above 0.79. In the third stage, the synthesis of the judges' reviews and the structuring of the instrument were carried out. Results: An instrument of 25 questions divided into knowledge, attitude and practice was elaborated. As judges nine professionals participated. All IVCs were greater than 0.889. Objective: to analyze the skills required to perform nursing staff scales and scales. Methodology: a quantitative, exploratory-descriptive study with 54 nurses from a university hospital in the south of Brazil. Data collection was performed through a self-administered structured questionnaire, validated by face, content and construct validity. For data analysis, descriptive and inferential statistics were used. Results: the attitudes were identified as the most important skills for the accomplishment of scaling and scales of nursing personnel. Among the skills, greater importance was assigned to conflict resolution among the team. The nurses were indifferent about the knowledge of the costs generated by the care. Conclusion: the analysis of the competences that base the accomplishment of the dimensioning and nursing personnel scales allowed the recognition of important subsidies to qualify the professional training of nurses and nursing work. Background: The adoption of self-care behaviors by the person with diabetes is an outcome-determining factor, and education for self-care is an effective nursing intervention within this context. Objectives: To develop and validate the Therapeutic Education for Diabetes Self-Care Behavior Scale. Methodology: This methodological study was conducted on a sample of 104 nurses working in primary health care. The international guidelines were followed in the development and validation of the scale. Results: The analysis of the reliability of the six dimensions (healthy eating, being active, monitoring, taking medication, problem solving and healthy coping, and reducing risks) showed Cronbach’s α values ranging between 0.768 and 0.933. Correlation matrices (p>0.001) and the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin measures greater than 0.7 in all dimensions/subscales ensure reasonable adequacy of the factorial model of each dimension (subscale). Conclusion: The multidimensional scale is valid and reliable for assessing the frequency with which nurses provide therapeutic education on self-care behaviors to the person with diabetes. Theoretical framework Media messages about healthcare in Portugal tend to undervalue the nurses’ contributions and may lead to reductive representations of the sector. Understanding how nurses deal with the media is essential to characterise this issue. Objectives: To build and validate the Escala de Comportamentos de Abordagem aos Média por Enfermeiros (Scale of Media Use Behaviours by Nurses). Methodology: A methodological study was conducted using a sample of nurses from the same social network (n=528). The validation process included factor analysis, as well as the analysis of internal consistency and temporal stability. Results: We obtained a scale composed of 23 items divided into 5 factors, which explain 70.98% of the variance. The scale shows a good internal consistency and an acceptable temporal stability. Conclusion: The instrument proved to be valid and reliable. Objectives: Study the factor structure of Life Satisfaction Index for the third age, short form (LSITA-SF), its internal consistency, content validity, and to contrast its divergent validity. This index is proposed as a subjective indicator of successful aging Roy Adaptation Model, self concept mode. It is contrasted to a brief measurement of depression (CESD-7) that served as contextual stimuli in a major study. Materials and methods: The LSITA-SF scale and the (CESD-7) were applied to a non-probabilistic sample of 255 mexican volunteers from 60 to 100 years old. The content validity was evaluated by three experts. The internal consistency was calculated by the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient, the factor analysis by Principal Component Analysis and Varimax rotation, the confirmatory factor analysis by Maximum Likelihood and the divergent validity by the Spearman correlation coefficient. Results: The content validity was adequate. A three correlated factors model showed the best fit (X² [41, N = 255] = 77.30, p = 0,001, GFI = 0,96, AGFI = 0,935, and RMSEA = 0,059), one item was deleted. Internal consistency was (a = 0,80). The correlation between LSITA-SF11 and CESD-7 was moderate (rs = -0,38); and between LSITA-11 and physical health measured by five items of SF-12 was (rs = 0,32). Conclusion: The 11-items LSITA scale shows preliminary good properties of reliability and validity in Mexican elderly people. Introduction: Barriers to the use of research results have been frequently identified, aiming at overcoming them and choosing strategies to facilitate the utilization of scientific evidence in nursing practice. Nevertheless, the gap between nursing practice and research outcomes persists as a problem for the nursing profession. Objective: translating for the Portuguese language, adapting culturally and evaluating psychometric properties of Funck, Champagne, Wiese and Tornquist's (1991) Barriers to Research Utilization Scale. Participants and methods. The scale was translated and culturally adapted for Portuguese and applied to a sample of 375 nurses, randomly selected from a data base, without any inclusion criteria. The scale was tested for adequacy and comprehension, face and content validity and its psychometric properties, through Chronbach Alpha's coefficient and exploratory and confirmatory analysis of main components. Outcomes: participants were mainly women with a mean age of 35,8 years old. The majority had a mean of 12,9 years of professional practice and 10,6 years on the same unit. They were mainly generalist graduate nurses. Of the 29 items of the scale, following the analysis of the main components, these were grouped in four dimensions: Organization characteristics (a de Cronbach =.86), Study dissemination (a de Cronbach =.90), Nurse characteristics (a de Cronbach =.74) and Research characteristics (a de Cronbach =.71). Discussion and Conclusion: Scale dimensions have a higher internal consistency than in the original scale, except for "research characteristics" that has a lower consistency. These values are similar to other studies. Main barriers to research utilization were "time at work is insufficient to implement new ideas", as pointed out in other studies in the USA, Ireland, Canada and Sweden. The scale in its validated form for the Portuguese language, was easy to apply, with an acceptable internal consistency, that explains factors that influence research utilization in nursing. This study aimed to present the content validity and reliability analyses of an instrument to study the determinant factors of salt consumption among hypertensive subjects, based on an extension of the Theory of Planned Behavior. Content validity was assessed by 3 experts and a pre-test was carried out with 5 subjects. The final tool, comprising 3 different behaviors related to salt consumption and corresponding psychosocial variables, was applied to 32 subjects for internal consistency and temporal stability (15-day interval) analysis. Cronbach's alpha coefficients > 0.70 and significant intra-class correlation coefficients were observed for most variables, indicating the temporal stability of the measured concepts.
