The article focuses on the immigration from Haiti to the Domican Republic (D. R.) during the aftermath of the Haitian earthquake that occurred on January 12, 2010. It recalls that several Haitians migrate to the D. R. to seek job opportunities and higher standards of living yet the earthquake led to a surge in the migration of Haitian refugees into the country. Such surge has resulted into deportation threats against the existing Haitian immigrant community in the D. R. It concludes that Haitian immigrants are at risk of displacement.
