The article focuses on a study which describes the information-seeking behavior of social science faculty at the St. Augustine Campus of University of the West Indies (UWI) located in the small developing country of Trinidad and Tobago. In addition to the established disciplines of economics, political science, psychology and sociology, the applied social sciences are represented in the disciplines of management and social work. In terms of research, social scientists are interested in a broad spectrum of human behavior particularly as it relates to Caribbean development. In terms of library use, social scientists made less use of the library than their humanist colleagues and as well they made less use of bibliographic tools. A questionnaire, consisting of 19 closed questions and one open-ended question, was sent through the campus mail system to each of the 55 full-time social science faculty. One finding of the study is that the social scientists at UWI show a preference for journal articles in electronic format over print, which is an indicator that they have embraced electronic publishing and electronic access capabilities.
