1. The effects of land and water exercises on heart rate variability of sedantery individuals

1.ÖZETAraştırmamız, İstanbul'da bir holdingin çalışanları ile gönüllülük esasına dayanarak, suda yapılan egzersizleri kara çalışmalarıyla karşılaştırmak ve kalp hızı değişkenliği (KHD) parametreleri üzerine etkilerini incelemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. 18 erkekten oluşan grupta yaş ortalaması 30,6 ± 5,56, boy ortalaması 175,2 ± 9,26 cm, ağırlık ortalaması 76,8 ± 9,66 kg ve ortalama yağ yüzdesi 16,4 ± 3,92 olarak bulunmuştur. Gönüllüler, Çapraz Tasarım Modeline göre sırasıyla Kara-Su ve Su-Kara egzersizleri için rastgele iki gruba ayrıldı. Katılımcıların KHD parametreleri iki egzersiz döneminin baş ve sonunda, toplam 4 kez 15 dakika kaydedilmiştir. Her ölçüm karada oturma (dikey), yatma (yatay) ve suda (watsu) olmak üzere üç ayrı konumda alınmıştır. Kayıtlarda, kalp atım aralıklarına 1 ms hassas Polar S810i telemetrik nabız ölçer kullanılmıştır. Shuttle Run Test ile aerobik düzey her periyodun baş ve sonunda değerlendirilmiştir.İki dönem uygulanan 8 haftalık antrenman iki dönemde de aerobik gücü % 20 artırmıştır (p0.05). Su egzersizleri ile KH ve KHD parametrelerinde daha yüksek değerlere ulaşılmışsa da, iki egzersiz türü arasındaki fark anlamlı değildir (p>0.05).Sonuç olarak, 8 haftalık aerobik su ve kara antrenmanı aerobik gücü eşit düzeyde artırırken, kalp hızı ve KHD üzerine etkilerinde farklılık bulunamamıştır. The aim of the study was to compare water exercises and land exercises and analyze their effects on parameters of heart rate variability (HRV).18 males participated in the study, the average age was 30,6 ± 5,56, the average height was 175,2 ± 9,26 cm, the average weight was 76,8 ± 9,66 kg and the fat percentage average was 16,4 ± 3,92. We employed a cross over design to investigate the effects of land and water exercises on HRV. The volunteers were randomly seperated into two groups to conduct land-water and water-land exercises in two successive periods. HRV parameters of all participants were recorded 4 times for 15 minutes at the beginning and at the end of two exercise periods. Each measurement was realized during sitting (vertical) and lying down (horizontal) on land, and in water (watsu). Polar 810i telemetric pulse measurer with the capability of recording the heart pulse intervals with 1 ms sensitivity was used to record heart rate. HRV parameters were determined by polar software in the time and frequency domains. Shuttle Run Aerobic Test was carried out at the beginning and at the end of each period to see the effects of training on the aerobic power. The aerobic training over 8 weeks increased the aerobic power approximately by 20% (p0.05). Although higher values of heart rate and HRV parameters were obtained by water exercises, the differences between the two exercises were not significant (p>0.05). In conclusion, while water and land exercises included in a 8 weeks aerobic training program increased the aerobic power equally, their effects on heart rate and HRV was also not different.
