ÖZET Bu çalışma, lise öğrencilerin, biyoloji dersinde genetik kavramlardaki bilgi düzeylerini tespit etmek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmada Batıkent Lisesi, Mustafa Kemal Lisesi ve Gazi Çiftlik Lisesi 1.,2. ve 3. sınıf öğrencilerine 18 sorudan oluşan bir bilgi testi uygulanmıştır. Bilgi testinde gen, DNA, kromozom, nükleus, allel, genetik bilgi, genetik kod, genetik kopyalama, genetik mühendisliği terimleri ile ilgili sorular bulunmaktadır. Öğrencilerin bilgi testine vermiş oldukları cevapların yüzde ve frekansları hesaplanmıştır. Yüzde ve frekans dağılımları her sınıf için ayrı ayrı hesap edilmiştir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin, genetik kavramlardaki bilgi düzeyleri bakımından 1., 2. ve 3. sınıf öğrencileri arasında istatistik olarak anlamlı fark bulunup bulunmadığım belirlemek amacıyla `t` testi uygulanmıştır. Sonuç olarak; öğrencilerin genetik kavramlardaki bilgi düzeylerinin düşük olduğu görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin genetik kavramlardaki bilgi düzeylerinin 1. ve 2. sınıflar arasında farklılık göstermediği, fakat 2. ve 3. sınıflar ile 1. ve 3. sınıflar arasında bir farklılık olduğu görülmüştür. 3. sınıf öğrencileri 2. sınıf öğrencilerine göre, 2. sınıf öğrencileri de 1. sınıf öğrencilerine göre daha iyi seviyede bilgi düzeyine sahip olmalarına rağmen, genel olarak tüm öğrencilerin bilgi düzeyleri istenilen seviyede değildir. u ABSTRACT This study has been conducted to understand the knowledge level of high school student on genetic consepts for biology lesson. For the purpose of this study, a knowledge test composed of eighteen questions has been given to the first, second and third class students at Batikent High School, Mustafa Kemal High School and Gazi Çiftlik High School. In the test there are questions related with gen, DNA, chromosome, allel, nucleus, genetic information, genetik code, genetic engineering, genetic copying terms. Percentage and frequency of student responses to the test has been calculated. Percentage and frequency distribution has been calculated for each class. Furthermore a `t` test has been run as to see whether the attitudes toward knowledge level on genetic consepts showed significant difference istatistically for first, second and third class of high school students As a result it is found that students knowledge about genetic consepts was low. There were no differences between first and second class students' knowledge level on genetic consepts but mere were differences between second and third class students and first and third class students. According to their knowledge level although third class student were better man second class students and second class students were better than first class students. In general all students' knowledge level on genetic consepts isn't desired level. 61
