Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, social confinement was declared in Portugal on 19th March 2020. Schools and sports clubs were closed, access to all sports and leisure facilities was limited, and young people have experienced restrictions regarding the practice of physical activities and sports. The purpose of this study was to identify the physical activity (PA) levels and sports participation of adolescents before and during confinement, with whom they practice during restrictions and to identify the activities adopted by their physical education (PE) teachers and sports coaches to keep them physically active. An online survey was conducted between March 27th and April 14th 2020. A total of 3,012 Portuguese adolescents (57% females) aged between 10 and 19 years old (14.3±2.4 years old) took part in this study. Wilcoxon test and paired-sample t-test and chi-square test of independence were used in the data analysis. The results show that the number of students engaged in PA increased during the lockdown (72.7% to 88.2%). For those who practiced PA before lockdown, the frequency of PA decreased from 4.7 sessions/week to 4.4 sessions/week (during confinement). For those who did not practice PA before confinement, they started by doing 4.1 sessions/week. The vast majority of PE teachers (77.3%) proposed some pedagogical activities such as video conference classes (53.6%). Regarding the coaches, 53.4% proposed some activity, mainly time circuit training, walking and cycling (around 18% each), or specific training exercises and video conference classes (about 12% each). The number of students who increased their regular PA practice can be justified by the immediate intervention of PE teachers, who implemented several online activities, or because students were able to choose different options to stay active. Resumo O olhar sociológico sobre o plágio entre alunos do ensino superior nas últimas décadas tem produzido progressos teóricos e metodológicos que permitem problematizar e monitorizar esse antigo e persistente fenômeno, considerando seus contornos contemporâneos. Este artigo, resultante de um projeto de investigação, sistematiza alguns desses avanços por forma a analisar criticamente as percepções sobre várias formas de plágio entre estudantes no ano letivo de 2015/2016 numa instituição de ensino superior portuguesa, aferindo (des)continuidades entre vários ciclos de estudo e controlando o efeito das variáveis sexo, idade, área de estudos e conhecimento do código acadêmico em vigor nessa instituição. Os dados em análise resultam de uma inquirição por questionário e permitem verificar que as percepções dos estudantes sobre o que constitui plágio divergem, especialmente em relação a algumas formas de plagiar, ainda que ganhem acuidade ao longo do percurso acadêmico. Por outro lado, os estudantes dos diferentes ciclos destacam o papel do conhecimento e do acompanhamento dos professores na prevenção dessa prática antiética. O impacto positivo da socialização acadêmica nessas percepções atesta a importância de uma pedagogia voltada para a honestidade e para a escrita intertextual, clamada pelos próprios estudantes, mas frequentemente secundarizada nas políticas de prevenção e nos currículos acadêmicos das instituições de ensino superior. Abstract The sociological view on plagiarism among higher education students has produced in recent decades theoretical and methodological advances that enable to problematize and monitor this old and persistent phenomenon, considering its contemporary aspects. This article, resulting from a research project, systematises some of those advances in order to critically analyse the perceptions about various forms of plagiarism among students in the 2015/2016 academic year at a Portuguese higher education institution, assessing (dis)continuities between various levels of study and controlling for the effect of the variables sex, age, area of study and knowledge of the academic code of conduct in use at that institution. The data under analysis results from a questionnaire survey and demonstrates that students’ perceptions of what constitutes plagiarism diverge, especially in relation to some forms of plagiarism, even though they gain incisiveness throughout the academic career. On the other hand, students from different levels of study highlight the role of knowledge and teachers’ guidance in preventing this unethical practice. The positive impact of academic socialisation on these perceptions demonstrates the importance of a pedagogy that addresses honesty and intertextual writing, demanded by the students themselves, but often overlooked in the prevention policies and academic curricula of higher education institutions.

A adequação entre o nível e tipo de formação académica e a situação profissional é um tema presente sempre que se aborda a temática da inserção profissional dos licenciados. Pretende-se, com este artigo, analisar as situações profissionais de diplomados portugueses do ensino superior cinco anos após a conclusão da licenciatura, à luz da problemática da inserção e transição profissional. Enquadra-se a relação entre sistema de ensino e mercado de trabalho comparando-se indicadores internacionais que contextualizam o caso português, de modo a discutir os resultados empíricos que caracterizam a situação profissional vivida em 2010 por uma amostra de 1.004 diplomados de duas universidades portuguesas. Definem-se cinco tipos de situações profissionais a partir de técnicas de análise multivariadas e reflete-se sobre os perfis encontrados. Conclui-se que a maioria dos licenciados exerce uma atividade profissional adequada ao seu nível de graduação, com rendimentos salariais, vínculos laborais e horários adequados ao grupo dos especialistas das actividades intelectuais e científicas. Porém, a análise mais fina revela-nos uma configuração hierárquica das situações profissionais num continuum que se organiza desde a inserção frágil à inserção qualificante associada às áreas de formação frequentadas. Os diplomados nas áreas de educação, artes e humanidades ocupam as situações profissionais mais precarizantes, contrastando com a sobrerrepresentação nos empregos mais favoráveis dos licenciados das áreas de saúde, economia, gestão e direito.

Ao longo do processo de evolução das sociedades capitalistas, tem vindo a intensificar-se a importância conferida à educação/formação no processo de empregabilidade, afirmando-se como variável central do funcionamento dos mercados de trabalho. Este artigo procura perceber, a partir da análise de dados obtidos nos Quadros de Pessoal para o ano de 2007, em que medida é que os níveis de escolaridade continuam a configurar-se como uma variável explicativa de diferentes tipos de relações de emprego dos jovens entre os 15 e os 24 anos. Uma análise de correspondências múltiplas sobre a informação secundária não publicada e a constatação da emergência de padrões novos de inserção profissional, com características distintivas que, todavia, não questionam a associação positiva entre os diplomas escolares e a relação de emprego, constituem os aspectos pertinentes e inovadores deste estudo. Throughout the development of capitalist societies, there has been a steady increase in the importance attributed to education/training in the process of employability: it has asserted itself as a key variable in the functioning of the labour markets. In the light of an analysis of the data in the 2007 Personnel Charts, the aim of this article is to understand to what extent educational levels still represent a variable that explains the different types of employment relationships among young people between 15 and 24 years of age. The relevant and innovative aspects of this study are, firstly, a multiple correspondence analysis of the unpublished secondary information and, secondly, the findings that new patterns of integration into the labour market have emerged, with distinctive characteristics, though they do not call into question the positive association between educational certificates and the employment relationship. Cet article analyse les données obtenues dans les tableaux des effectifs de l’année 2007 afin de comprendre dans quelle mesure les niveaux de scolarité continuent de constituer une variable pouvant expliquer les différents types de relations d’emploi des jeunes entre 15 et 24 ans. Une analyse des correspondances multiples sur l’information secondaire non publiée et la constatation de l’émergence de nouveaux modèles d’insertion professionnelle qui, malgré leurs caractéristiques distinctives, ne remettent pas en cause l’association positive entre les diplômes scolaires et la relation d’emploi, sont les aspects pertinents et innovants de cette étude. WOS:000291059900001 (Nº de Acesso Web of Science) “Prémio Científico ISCTE-IUL 2012” A number of studies have concluded that when students have greater confidence about their math skills and are aware of its usefulness, they have a more positive perception of the subject. This article aims to examine whether this pseudo linear trend in the relationship between affective and instrumental dimensions is also true of the university context. Special attention is devoted to the articulation of these dimensions in structuring student perceptions of quantitative methods so as to identify the various forms that this interaction can assume. Our second aim is to understand how the perceptions of these subjects are constructed by students from degree courses in distinct scientific areas. Can we speak of group dynamics whereby socialization within each degree course triggers the sharing of similar perceptions? We concluded that a certain linear trend can also be identified in the university context in the relationship between the affective dimension and usefulness of quantitative methods i.e., that the highest levels in the perception of the usefulness of these subjects corresponded to the highest levels of self confidence and enjoyment of the subjects. However, in addition to this scenario there is another configuration in which negative feelings coexist with the recognition of the usefulness of quantitative methods subjects. Namely, lower levels of self confidence and enjoyment of these subjects can also be associated with high levels of perceived usefulness. We also concluded that there is evidence of what we designated a certain course culture in the perceptions about quantitative methods. Nevertheless, when our observation is extended to the scientific area the heterogeneity of the perceptions becomes evident. Another important finding is the rejection of the thesis, at least in the university context, that defends the lack of self-confidence in quantitative methods among females student.

É recorrente concluir-se que níveis mais elevados de autoconfiança dos alunos, relativamente às suas capacidades para interagir com a matemática, associados a uma maior utilidade percebida desta concorrem para os alunos terem representações positivas da disciplina. Um dos objectivos deste artigo é averiguar se no contexto universitário se mantém esta tendência linear na relação entre as duas dimensões - afectiva e instrumental - estruturantes das representações das disciplinas de métodos quantitativos. Um segundo objectivo consiste em perceber como é que os alunos de diferentes cursos (de áreas científicas distintas) geram as suas representações relativamente a essas disciplinas. Foi aplicado um inquérito por questionário a uma amostra de alunos numa instituição universitária. Para a definição dos padrões de representações, foi usada a Análise de Correspondências Múltiplas e, para a identificação de factores explicativos dos perfis dos alunos, foi usada a Regressão Categorial. Os resultados evidenciam que o espaço das representações dos métodos quantitativos em contexto universitário é um espaço marcado pela heterogeneidade, mas cuja complexidade ultrapassa essa tendência linear na relação entre a dimensão da utilidade e a dimensão afectiva. Outra das conclusões é a não sustentabilidade da tese que aponta (pelo menos em contexto não universitário) para a feminização da falta de autoestima e da autoconfiança para lidar com disciplinas dessa área científica. Conclui-se, ainda, que parece existir uma certa cultura de curso, na medida em que os cursos tendem a reflectir um padrão predominante de representações dos métodos quantitativos. It is often concluded that higher levels of self-confidence in pupils in relation to their ability to interact with mathematics, associated to the perception of the latter's greater utility contributed for pupils making positive representations of this discipline. One of the objectives of this article is to inspect if in the university context this linear trend is maintained in the relation between the two dimensions – affective and instrumental – which structure the representations of the disciplines of quantitative methods. A second objective consists in observing how students from different courses (from different scientific areas) create their representations about these disciplines. A questionnaire was applied to a sample of students from a university institution. The definition of patterns of representations was done through the use of Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA), and Categorical Regression (Catreg) was employed to identify explaining factors in the students' profile. The results show that the space of the representations of quantitative methods in a university context is marked by heterogeneity, with a complexity that goes beyond this linear trend in the relation between the utility dimension and the affective dimension. Another conclusion is about the untenability of the thesis that points (at least in a non-university context) to the feminization of the lack of self-esteem and self-confidence to deal with disciplines from this scientific area. A further conclusion is that a course culture seems to exist, insofar as the courses tend to reflect a predominant pattern of representations of the quantitative methods.

Quer seja nos meios de comunicação social, quer seja em conversas ouvidas entre amigos, todos os dias deparamos com referências à matemática, em particular ao insucesso escolar que aí se regista e à “aversão” que um conjunto bastante vasto de pessoas sente por ela. Na tentativa de perceber como se constrói esta valorização negativa da disciplina surge como imperioso o conhecimento das representações sociais da matemática. Um inquérito por questionário, aplicado a uma amostra de alunos do 9.º ano do concelho de Lisboa, permitiu concluir que aquilo que mais sobressai na sua relação com a matemática é o sentimento de insegurança face ao seu elevado nível de dificuldade, que coexiste com o reconhecimento da sua importância e utilidade. Every day, in the media or in conversations among friends, we come across references to mathematics and, in particular, to the failure in school associated with it and the “aversion” that a fairly large number of people feel towards it. For any attempt to understand how this negative assessment of the subject has built up, knowledge of the social representations of mathematics appears indispensable. From a questionnaire survey among a sample of 9th grade pupils in the municipality of Lisbon it was possible to conclude that the salient characteristic of their relationship with mathematics is that a sense of insecurity arising from the difficulty of the subject coexists with a recognition of its importance and usefulness. Que ce soit dans les médias ou dans les conversations entre amis, les mathématiques reviennent souvent à l’ordre du jour, en particulier pour évoquer de l’échec scolaire ou bien l’aversion qu’un nombre de personnes éprouvent pour cette matière. Afin de comprendre comment se construit cette perception négative des mathématiques, il est essentiel d’en connaître les représentations sociales. Une enquête par questionnaire menée à Lisbonne, auprès d’un échantillon d’élèves en 9 ème année de scolarité (15 ans de moyenne d’âge), a permis de conclure que ce qui ressort le plus dans leur relation avec les mathématiques est le sentiment d’insécurité face au degré de difficulté élevé de cette matière, allié à la reconnaissance de son importance et de son utilité. Bien sea en los medios de comunicación social o en las conversaciones entre amigos, todo los días nos encontramos con referencias a las matemáticas, más concretamente al fracaso escolar que aquí se registra y a la “aversión” que un conjunto bastante amplio de personas siente por esta disciplina. En el intento de comprender como se construye esta valoración negativa de la materia surge como imperioso el conocimiento de las representaciones sociales de las matemáticas. Un sondeo realizado por cuestionario, aplicado a un segmento de alumnos de 9.º curso (3.º de ESO) del municipio de Lisboa, permitió concluir que lo más destacable en su relación con las matemáticas es el sentimiento de inseguridad ante su elevado nivel de dificultad, que coexiste con el reconocimiento de su importancia y utilidad.
