The article presents information about learning organization. The Learning Edge was developed as a two-pronged training strategy with each element designed to reinforce the impact of the other. The first half of the approach is the provision of business and management education, giving employees at all levels access to recognized qualifications. The second half is the running of a range of training programmes designed to focus on learning, self-development and developing others. The range of qualifications offered is presented as the learning wheel in the article and indicates that employees can enter the wheel at whatever point is most suitable for them and then progress forward. All of the qualifications offered would be developed jointly between the company and an external validating body such as NEESM, NCVQ or a polytechnic. The content of each of programmes would be designed to link the current role of each participant to the broader company and business context, thus enhancing performance in the current job, but also preparing the individual for new responsibilities in the future.
