In the paper the authors present some views on the education of the teacher of the future. They emphasize that the problem doesn't lie with school pluralism and alternative education, but with the fact that the focus of the discussion must be switched to the starting point – the teacher. Besides classical education and training the teacher of the future will need new competencies, ways of acting and personal characteristics of the modern teacher in order to meet modern challenges. He will be characterized by the openness of experience, the flexibility of ideas and dedication to the principle of giving/receiving.

S u m m a r y According to the principles of contemporary methods of teaching a foreign language at an early age, grammar is taught with a gradual introduction of its elements through various activities within English lessons in the junior grades of primary school. In the population of junior grade pupils, nouns of irregular plural are one of the grammatical categories the acquisition of which results in frequent mistakes. The most represented method of teaching a foreign language at an early age is the Total Physical Response method (or TPR in short ). According to the principles of this method, the foreign language teachers of children of an early age ought to assist their pupils in acheiving several goals: developing listening and speaking skills, including movement in lesson activities and increasing the engagement of the pupils in such activities. All the aforementioned goals can, according to the opinion of the majority of developmental psychologists and ESL methodologists, be realised if the category of plural nouns is taught in combination with children's songs and games, as they are accessible to younger primary school pupils. The aim of this paper is to point towards the importance of the teacher in the proceduralisation phase, i.e. the correction of mistakes that occur due to incorrect plural noun forms, and in particular irregular plural nouns, through songs and games. By combining children's songs and games that include movement and increased participation of pupils, these topics can be efficiently acquired with only a hint of grammatical metalanguage, as the same is only taught in the later phases of learning the English language.

The aim of this research is to find the connection between school conduct and achievement and behaviour disorders with elementary school children (N=242) and to establish its predictive values. The research’s aim is linked to planning of adequate interventions for elementary school children at risk or with already evident behaviour disorders based on the obtained indicators. The results have shown that there is a connection between school conduct and smoking as a problematic form of behaviour, while the connection between school achievement and behaviour disorders has not been shown as statistically significant. The applicative value of the obtained results is shown through the identification of guidelines for preventive interventions on the level of the local community. It is also shown through guidelines for the production and implementation of different programmes in the area of school education and spending free time (sports activities).

The aim of this research is to define the differences between male (N=121) and female (N=121) pupils’ self-estimates about behaviour disorders. The pupils belong to the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grade of the elementary school Vidikovac in Pula. The existence of differences between sexes is based on the assumption that different sexual roles like rebelliousness, nonconformism and disregard of norms are more typical for the male sexual role in our cultural environment, as well as in the school environment. The results have shown that differences between male and female pupils exist when it comes to behaviour disorders. All stated shows the need for registering such indicators in the school environment and including these knowledge in the production of different preventive programmes and enabling different approaches to groups of male and female pupils.

The paper considers the effects of the education of the Roma in the Međimurje County. Although positive effects are present in many different aspects related to education of the Roma, one of the most important is certainly the change in the attitude of the Roma toward their own education. The comprehension of importance of the Roma children’s education and the intention to base their future material incomes on the work and competences acquired by education are an important step forward in developing a collective awareness of the Roma community of the importance of education and a giant step towards a more efficient integration.
