Commercial, industrial, and military activity, largely in the 19th and 20th centuries, have led to environmental pollution that can threaten human health and ecosystem function, liquid gas petroleum (LPG) products are the major sources of energy for industry and daily life that cause environmental contamination during various stages of production, transportation, refining and use. Screening of bacterial isolate by using clear zone techniques and biomass and optical density. Results revealed that isolate Burkholdaria cepatia showed a high ability for hydrocarbons biodegradation and this isolate identified depending on morphological cultural, gram stain, microscopic features, biochemical tests, and VITEK2 compact. In this study, Burkholdaria cepatia had been examined to degrade hydrocarbons in soil. Such strain which is isolated from petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated soil has the ability to utilize a variety of hydrocarbons substrates. Optimal conditions that include (time, temperature & pH) were studied for hydrocarbons biodegradation by Burkholdaria cepatia, results showed with high growth and hydrocarbons biodegredation. Biodegradation Experiments were carried out in lab scale and the growth of microorganisms was investigated directly and indirectly. Results showed an extent of biodegradation more than 80% can be achieved within 10 days using.

Petroleum is one of the most important substances consumed by man at present times, a major energy source in this century, petroleum oils can cause environmental pollution during various stages of production, transportation, refining and use, petroleum hydrocarbons pollutions ranging from soil, ground water to marine environment, become an inevitable problem in the modern life, current study focused on bioremediation process of hydrocarbons contaminants that remaining in the bottom of gas cylinders and discharged to the soil. Twenty-four bacterial isolates were isolated from contaminated soils all of them gram negative bacteria, bacterial isolates screening to investigate the ability of biodegradation of hydrocarbons, these isolates inoculated with modified mineral salt media containing 1% hydrocarbons for five days in shaking incubator 150 rpm at 30oC. Then measured optical density by a spectrophotometer (UV–9200) at waves length 540nm, biomass, where three isolates appeared highest ability to growth than others isolates. These three bacterial isolates were diagnosed by morphological features, gram stain, microscopically examination, biochemical tests, as well as by using VITEK 2 Compact device. One of three isolates was selected and result of identification of this bacterium showed that belonged to Serretia ficaria.

The study included isolation and diagnosis of Escherichia coli from clinical and animal sources (humans, cows, sheep, birds, chickens, fish, and gecko). It collected 275 samples distributed to 125 clinical samples taken from urine and 150 samples distributed to other organisms with 25 samples per organism. The isolates used in the study were diagnosed on the appearance, microscopy, and chemical tests, as well as confirmatory testing of isolations through the use of the Api 20 E tape, where 41 isolations of E. coli bacteria were obtained from the clinical source and 89 isolation from other organisms. Some fertility factors of bacterial isolates were studied, all bacterial isolates were found to be Capsule productive, while all were non-Hemolysin enzymes, and Extended Spectrum β-lactamase enzymes were 41% (53/130), and isolates' ability to form biofilm was investigated where isolates were producers 60% (77/130). In this study, kidney function tests, LDH and glucose were evaluated in COVID-19 patients. The study included 120 cases, who were divided into three groups; a first group of 40 patients with COVID-19, and the secondgroup of 40 recovered of COVID 19, and the third group was control of40. The results indicated a significant increase (P < 0.01) in the renal function parameters of Covid-19 patients compared to the recovered and control groups. Background: Obesity has become a major health problem, defined as an abnormal or excessive accumulation of fat in adipose tissue and is diagnosed with a BMI ≥30 kg/m2. The study aimed to find the correlation between zinc deficiency and obesity, also, to study the association between obesity and different socio-demographic factors. Material and Methods: A case-control study was conducted to achieve the aims of the study that has been conducted from the beginning of December 2021 until June 2022. The size of the sample comprises 140 participants who were equally divided into two groups, obese group (body mass index (BMI) ≥ 30 kg/m2) and the control group, (BMI18.5 - 24.9 kg/m2). All participants were taken randomly from adult peoples ages ranged between (18-65) years in Al-Najaf Governorate. Results: The association between serum zinc and obesity was significant (p-value = 0.041, O. ratio (95%CI) = 2.01(1.02-3.97)). The correlation between serum zinc level with both BMI and waist hip ratio (WHR) was negatively correlation (r = -0.241, r = -0.033, respectively). The association between obesity and socio-demographics characteristics was only significant with gender and marital status (P-value =0.002, 0.016, respectively), while the other characteristics were not significant (p-value = >0.05).

The results also indicate significant elevation (p 6y) of pneumonia child patient .And there is no significant (p>0.05) different in presepsin between the ages (4-6y) when compare with ages (>6y).

A Cadmium (II) ion-selective electrode (ISE) based on Thia polymeric crown ether (SPCE-Cd2+) as a membrane carrier in a PVC matrix was successfully built for the determination of Cd2+ ions. Using Dimethyl phthalate (DMP) plasticizer, the electrode showed a Nernstian liner response spanning the range of 1*10-1 to 1*10-7 M with a slope of (28) ±2 mV per decade charge and a detection limit of 1*10-9 M. The sensor has a 10-second response time. The cadmium ion-selective electrode is highly precise in its selectivity for Cd2+ over other cations. Some alkali and transition metal ions have selectivity coefficients in the range of 1 * 10-7 to 1 * 10-1. It worked well as an indicator electrode in the potentiometric measurement of the cadmium ion.

This paper aims to explore the impact of banking risk on electronic banking services in the Rafidain Bank and the Baghdad Bank. The study adopted the field survey method as a method of data collection and analysis. The sample included managers, their assistants, and the heads of departments who are at the decision-making site who were chosen intentionally, consisting of 43 people, including 25 from the Rafidain Bank and 18 from the Bank of Baghdad. A questionnaire was distributed to measure the study variables. The results show a significant impact of credit risk and liquidity risk on usability, benefits and cost reduction. Therefore, it is necessary to put in place mechanisms by the banks in question to help reduce risks, as these risks are the cause of many banking crises.

An experiment was conducted to enhance the turnip seed performance under salinity stress conditions. The impact of priming with an optimized dosage (5 g/l) of KCl and NaCl had been evaluated for enhancing seedling vigor and salt stress tolerance in seedlings of the turnip. Seeds prepared with (5 g/l) of KCl and NaCl solutions were examined at different salinity levels (0, 50, 100, 150, 200)mM of NaCl concerning the early growth stage. The data were analyzed using SPSS windows version 23 (one way ANOVA p ≤ 0.05) to determine the significant difference between treatments and followed Duncan test, p 0.05 for means comparison. The results have shown that priming with KCl and NaCl were effective in reducing the adverse effects of salinity. A significant (P 0.05) increase in germination percentage, seed vigor, hypocotyl and radicle length, salt tolerance, and dry weight of the seedlings of seed that priming with (5 g/l) of KCl and NaCl compared to nonprimed seeds was recorded. On the other hand, In this experiment, it was concluded that seed priming with KCl and NaCl had been discovered to be better treatment, especially in the high concentration of salts as compared to non-primed seeds in case of turnip for rising the seeds vigor and seedling growth under salt-stressed conditions.

Liquid crystals are unique in their properties and use and has an essential role in the area of technological applications such as electrical, optical, displayers, temperature maps, and switching materials. This study aimed to synthesize hexaethynylbenzene derivatives starting from 1,3,5-trichlorobenzene benzene as a central core substituted with three aromatic ring and three armed of 2-chloro-4,6-bis((3,7-dimethyloct-6-en-1-yl) oxy)-1,3,5-triazine. These molecules are formed by the covalent linking of three arms symmetrically to a central core which may be attached to the central core through flexible, semi-flexible or rigid linkers. The substitution occured at the acetylenic periphery on the central benzene ring and was achieved efficiently by Sonogashira coupling. The six-armed compounds based on the benzene core was mixed with the complementary 4-dodecyloxybenzoic acid 1:1 ratio, which already possessed liquid crystal property to increase the formation of these resulting in an organic salt. The obtained organic salts were investigated for their liquid crystal behaviour by polarizing optical microscopy (POM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). All the intermediate and final compounds were confirmed by spectroscopic techniques (1H NMR, 13C NMR, and mass spectrometry).

This study aimed to identify the effect of resistance training on the biomechanics and accuracy of serve receiving skills in volleyball. The research community was composed of 26 young volleyball players of Baghdad volleyball clubs. A total of 4 players were selected for the preliminary experiment, while 14 participants were recruited as the main sample for the study. In the present study, a set of resistance exercises were designed by the researchers for the volleyball players of the sample. Exercises were performed by the sample participants during the course of study. The biomechanical variables considered in the present study were: Preparation moment (shoulder joint angle, hip angle, knee joint angle), moment of propulsion (shoulder joint angle, hip angle, knee joint angle). Based on the findings of the present study, the researchers concluded that the resistance exercises had a positive impact on the biomechanics and accuracy of serve receiving skills in the participants.

In this paper, a new method of selection variables is presented to select some essential variables from large datasets. The new model is a modified version of the Elastic Net model. The modified Elastic Net variable selection model has been summarized in an algorithm. It is applied for Leukemia dataset that has 3051 variables (genes) and 72 samples. In reality, working with this kind of dataset is not accessible due to its large size. The modified model is compared to some standard variable selection methods. Perfect classification is achieved by applying the modified Elastic Net model because it has the best performance. All the calculations that have been done for this paper are in R program by using some existing packages.

This paper studied the effect of waste Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) on the workability and mechanical properties of the produced cement based mortar. However, five different waste PET weight fractions of 0, 5, 15, 25 and 50% were replaced with river sand in cement mortar mixtures with constant cement content and water to cement ratio of 525 kg/m3 and 0.48, respectively. The workability of the mixtures is enhanced by increasing the replacement level of plastic waste PET. On the other hand, the dry density, compressive and flexural strengths were reduced as waste PET incorporation increased except the mix contained 5% of PET which improved the compressive and flexural strengths. As a result of the dry density and compressive strength results, it was determined that the mixture containing 25% waste PET is considered as a lightweight mortar and suitable for structural purposes.

In this paper, a new hybrid algorithm for linear programming model based on Aggregate production planning problems is proposed. The new hybrid algorithm of a simulated annealing (SA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithms. PSO algorithm employed for a good balance between exploration and exploitation in SA in order to be effective and efficient (speed and quality) for solving linear programming model. Finding results show that the proposed approach is achieving within a reasonable computational time comparing with PSO and SA algorithms.

The modified model is applied to a monthly chemical sales dataset (January 1992 to Dec 2019), where the dataset in this work has been downloaded from the United States of America census (www.census.gov). Ultimately, the forecasted sales for the next three years for chemical sales in the USA is provided.

The objective of this study is to examine the training needs of agricultural extension workers in various provinces of Iraq. Validate them and develop a method of identification of training needs for agricultural extension agents. The data collected were analyzed by determination of the mean of the responses from the respondents and one-way of Variance (ANOVA). Using Borich need Assessment model for training needs, the questionnaire survey was adopted for a population of 300 professionals in clients, consultants, and contracting organizations. The majority of respondents were in all kinds of training needs were above the value of 3 meaning that all of them were strongly needed, the highest needed training was on the name of method with mean value 3.74, the moderate needed training was on use computer and ICT with mean = 3.26 and the lowest needed training was on the management with mean =3.15. The study revealed that the majority of respondents in the first categories in the age from 31 to 40 years 37.32%, experience from one to five years 40.94%, the number of training courses from 1 to 5 courses 39.86%, for the education level had a bachelor degree 71.74%, origin from the urban 80.80%, and attended training 81.16%, marital status 73.19%, the gender a male 63.77%, and specialization from agriculture department 71.38%. The results shows significant relationship with provinces, marital status, location of work, training, and the number of training courses. The Extension Agents agreed that they needed training in studies areas of their agriculture.

Pleomorphic adenoma is a benign tumor of the salivary gland with the highest incidence rate among all salivary gland tumors in the general population. Even though it’s common, ectopic presentation of the same is rare. When it happens, it presents in the head and neck region. We discuss in this paper a rare case of ectopic pleomorphic adenoma on the plane of the cheek.

Of the estimated 130 million infants born each year worldwide,1 4 million die in the first 28 days of life. Three-quarters of neonatal deaths occur in the first week, and more than one-quarter occur in the first 24 hours.1,2 Neonatal deaths account for 40% of deaths under the age of 5 years worldwide. This study was descriptive-analytical prospective one and the population of the study included all infants hospitalized in NICU of maternity and children teaching hospital in aldiwaniah governorate from first of September 2013 to the end of august 2014. About 1644 neonate patients was admitted to the neonatal care unit directly either from the labor room or from the operation room and the neonate only in contact with health personnel ; from those we study all 193 hospitalized neonates that died due to different causes. In this study, of 1466 neonates , were hospitalized in NICU (neonatal intensive care unit ) in maternity and children teaching hospital from first of September 2013 through august 2014 ; from which 193 ( 13.1% )cases were died . A total of 193infants died in the hospital form which 64.25% were male and ( 35.75% )of them were female. ; 36.8% of them were full term and 63.2 % were premature . the most common cause of the neonatal death were the RDS (respiratory distress syndrome) 93 (48.1%) and the second most common cause were the complication of prematurity other than the RDS which form55( 28.4% ). The birth asphyxia, congenital anomalies and sepsis represent 15 ( 7.7 % ), 8 (4.1%) , 11 ( 5.6% ) respectively. the meconium aspiration syndrome mainly in postmature infant represent about 9 (4.6 % )and miscellaneous causes( hydrops fetalis and intraventriculer haemorrhage and congenital heart disease ) was 3 ( 1.5 %) . The common cause of neonatal death was sever immaturity with its complications and mainly the respiratory distress syndrome. Almost the death occur in premature and LBW babies. We can prevent of born these babies by high quality prenatal care. The study proves the relations between certains maternal and neonatal factors and neonatal mortality; since low-weight premature infants are at more risk of dying in infancy, it is suggested that pregnant mothers should be placed under the required cares to avoid the birth of premature infants as possible.

Objectives: To determine the prevalence of internet addiction and some of the associated factors among medical students of the University of Kufa, and find its effect on academic performance. Subjects & Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted on 218 medical students selected throughouta systematic sampling method. A self- administered questionnaire was used for collection of data, its include three parts (demographic data, computer and internet use data, and Young Internet Addiction Test). The analysis of data was carried out using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Chi square test (X2-test), T-test, and binary logistic regression were used to investigate variables. The level of significance was considered as p-value ≤ 0.05. Results: According to the results of Young Internet Addiction Test score, 44.5% of the participants had a mild internet addiction, 119 (54.6%) had a moderate internet addiction, and only 2 (0.9%) had a severe internet addiction. Further analysis using binary logistic regression revealed that spending time online for studying related purpose was a significant protective factor from internet addiction among participants (P

This study explored the use of satellite data to monitor Outgoing Longwave Radiation (OLR) and Water Vapor (H2O) in Iraq. The retrieved monthly data obtained from Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS), included on the EOS Aqua satellite, from January 2003 to December 2016 are employed. In order to better assess these two parameters distribution, the spatiotemporal and long term trends analysis are provided for five stations dispersed across Iraq; Mosul, Sulaimaniyah, Rutba, Baghdad and Basra. The OLR and H2O monthly distribution shows important spatiotemporal variations values over study area, with a maximum in summer and minimum in winter. The higher OLR values of monthly average for study period occurred (370, 364) w/m2 in July and August at Rutba, and the lowest values of monthly average occurred were (232 w/m2) in January over Mosul and Sulaimaniyah. The higher H2O values (6.34 g/kg) observed in July and August over Baghdad and the lowest values of monthly average was (3.30 g/kg) in January and December over Mosul and Rutba. The long term trends analysis reveals decreasing trend in surface-OLR (0.0022 to 0.0026) w/m2 per year. The H2O vapor trend analyses have positive trend ranged from (0.005 to 0.015) g/kg per year. The satellite observation efficiently shows the spatial and temporal variations of OLR and H2O. This study sheds new light on the processes and analysis of both parameters emission over Iraq.

Facing the availability of the new generation of quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccines (Menveo®, Menactra® and others pending for license) and their recent implementation in Saudi Arabia, experts from 11 countries of the Middle East region met at a “Meningococcal Leadership Forum” (MLF), which took place in May 2010 in Dubai. The participants of the conference discussed the importance of introducing the concept of conjugate vaccines – especially for children and adolescents – and elaborated a consensus recommendation to support healthcare professionals and decision makers with their expertise. In experts’ opinion, conjugate vaccines are the best choice for the prevention of meningococcal disease caused by serogroups A, C, W-135 and Y. As quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccines are registered and available in the Middle East region, they should replace plain polysaccharide vaccines and be integrated in pediatric and adolescent vaccination schedules, including infant vaccination concomitantly with basic EPI vaccines when licensed.

Highly order array of Al and Ga nanoparticles have been synthesized by controlling the size pores of Ultra Thin Alumina Membranes masks (UTAMs) produced by anodic alumina, the deposition of array was carried out on the silicon substrate, the roughness and the size distribution of Al and Ga nanoparticles has been investigated, also shown how to organize into order 3Dstructures. The AFM results show that the prepared films have nano dimensions, pores and have large surface area which increasing the probability of gas, chemical and /or photon interaction then they could be employed for sensing device fabrication.
