A group of Year 8 students from Rochdale, UK, have made a 2-day tour of fort sites at the eastern end of Hadrian's Wall - Chesters, Segedunum and Arbeia. They were participating in an innovative 'Excellence in Cities' scheme to link talented and gifted children from four of Rochdale borough's secondary schools in a project away from their home environment. The 40 children were led by professional archaeologist John Crossland, who is attached to Manchester University. Crossland runs the 'Past Below Ground' group to provide schools groups of all ages with hands-on archaeology sessions.
