The article focuses on issues involving an influx of immigrants into Spain. The author asserts that an initial wave of immigration from Africa and the Middle East once filled a need for cheap labor in Spain's growing economy. As a result, immigrants in Spain constitute 10% of the population, creating problems in slow economic times. The author examines how Spain has becoming a testing ground for the assimilation of foreign cultures across Europe.
