Africa began implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015 emphasizing on sustainable management and effective use of natural capital to spur economic growth (Goals 12, 14, and 15). This study using World Bank data sets from 46 African countries selected for the years 2000 to 2022, examined the nexus between natural resource endowments and economic growth in Africa. We used the system generalized method of moments (sys-GMM) and dynamic panel threshold regression (DPTR) to analyze the data. The findings of the two-step sys-GMM estimation using 'xtabond2' revealed that when the institutional quality variable is added and excluded from the model, natural resource dependence negatively impacts economic growth, but the impact is greater when the institution is excluded. In the estimation of the interaction variable of natural resource dependence and institutional variable included in the model, natural resource dependence positively impacts economic growth. The results of the DPTR using "xthenreg" showed that when the threshold value of natural resource dependence is ≤ 1.73% of gross domestic product, natural resource dependence has a positive impact on economic growth and a negative impact when the threshold value is above 1.73%. Similarly, when the institutional quality threshold is ≤ 0.277, natural resources dependence impacts economic growth negatively; above the threshold (0.277), the impact is positive. In conclusion, natural resource endowment is a curse with no or low-quality institutions and a blessing with high-quality institutions. Does China pull up its 31 mainland provinces as it converges to the incomes of advanced economies? The conventional method of modelling convergence in the Chinese provinces has been the Barro approach. This paper models convergence through a common factor, interpreted as the rising tides that lift the boats—the growth of China lifts its provinces. We question the conventional (Barro in Q J Econ 106:407–443 1991) definition of convergence. Imposing a common convergence rate across provinces would bias the convergence rate towards zero. We focus on the heterogeneous model where the convergence rate and long-run elasticity to the common factor differ across provinces. The rising tides of growth disproportionately benefit the poorer provinces and lifts the poor provinces more than the wealthier ones. Bangladesh, a developing country, is experiencing a rapid increase in its energy requirements due to its consistent economic growth in recent years. However, little is known about the economic contributions of access to electricity (AE), energy consumption (EC), and population growth (PG). In this study, the asymmetrical connection among PG, EC and electricity accessibility in Bangladesh is examined over a span of 36 years, from 1985 to 2021. The study used non‐linear ARDL cointegration methods as well as Granger Causality. For robustness, this study used Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares (FMOLS) and Canonical Cointegrating Regression (CCR). The results reveal that PG has a notable favourable impact on economic growth, and conversely, a declining population also leads to a substantial positive influence on economic growth. Both favourable and adverse fluctuations in electricity accessibility exhibit detrimental effects on long‐term economic growth. Over the course of time, enhancing power accessibility has contributed to the rise in economic growth. Unfavourable EC shocks exhibit a meaningfully positive influence on economic growth in Bangladesh. Nevertheless, the positive EC shock does not have a notable impact on long‐term economic growth. The data also demonstrate bidirectional causality between PG and economic growth and EC and economic growth (EG). There is also a unidirectional causal link between PG and AE and EC and PG. The findings have significant policy ramifications for those in charge of making decisions in Bangladesh that would help the country achieve its economic goals by bolstering its energy industry. This study aims to analysis the influence of economic growth (EG) and energy consumption (EC) on sulfur dioxide emissions (SE) in China. Accordingly, this study explores the link between EG, EC, and SE for 30 provinces in China over the span of 2000e2019. This study also analyzes cross-sectional dependence tests, panel unit root tests, Westerlund panel cointegration tests, Dumitrescu-Hurlin (D-H) causality tests. According to the test results, there is an inverted U-shaped association between EG and SE, and the assumption of the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) is verified. The signs of EG and EC in the fixed effect (FE) and random effect (RE) methods are in line with those in the dynamic ordinary least squares (DOLS), fully modified ordinary least squares (FMOLS) and autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) estimators. Moreover, the results verified that EC can obviously positive impact the SE. To reduce SE in China, government and policymakers can improve air quality by developing cleaner energy sources and improving energy efficiency. Understanding information and communication technology (ICT) adoption's particular effects on a nation like Bangladesh is critical because ICT adoption continues to play a significant role in promoting economic progress globally. By analysing the relationships between ICT use and economic growth in Bangladesh, this study examines data from 2002 through 2021 using a time series analysis. ICT export, gross capital formation, mobile cellular subscriptions, government budget allocation, and foreign direct investment are just a few of the independent variables the study takes into account in relation to ICT adoption. These factors were selected based on their applicability to the adoption of ICT and their potential impact on economic expansion. According to the results of the time series research, the ICT sector's growing exports have a favourable and considerable impact on long-term economic growth. Mobile cellular subscriptions negatively affect economic growth, with significant short-term impact and insignificant long-term effect. The influence of the government budget is detrimental but insignificant for both long-term and short-term economic growth. The study comes to the conclusion that Bangladesh's economic development is significantly benefited by the adoption of ICT. The study also highlights the significance of government assistance through budgetary allocation and strategies that draw in foreign direct investment. Currently, most academic research involving the mortality modeling of multiple populations mainly focuses on factor‐based approaches. Increasingly, these models are enriched with socio‐economic determinants. Yet these emerging mortality models come with little attention to interpretable spatial model features. Such features could be highly valuable to demographers and old‐age benefit providers in need of a comprehensive understanding of the impact of economic growth on mortality across space. To address this, we propose and investigate a family of models that extend the seminal Li‐Lee factor‐based stochastic mortality modeling framework to include both economic growth, as measured by the real gross domestic product (GDP), and spatial patterns of the contiguous United States mortality. Model selection performed on the introduced new class of spatial models shows that based on the AIC criteria, the introduced spatial lag of GDP with GDP (SLGG) model had the best fit. The out‐of‐sample forecast performance of SLGG model is shown to be more accurate than the well‐known Li–Lee model. When it comes to model implications, a comparison of annuity pricing across space revealed that the SLGG model admits more regional pricing differences compared to the Li‐Lee model. In this article, we explore the relationships between economic growth and energy intensity in Bahrain, and we analyse how energy intensity, population, and other macroeconomic variables are associated with each in the short and long run. In the empirical section we use data span from 1980 to 2019 and we perform a vector error correction model and cointegration technique to detect causality between the variables used in the model. The main findings of this article show that economic growth, population and FDI increased energy intensity in Bahrain in the short run. Therefore, an urgent need to be embedded in the sustainable energy action plan to limit the harmful effects of economic activity on the environmental quality in Bahrain and to ensure environmental sustainability. Despite the substantial economic potential, ASEAN faces challenges in meeting its infrastructure investment needs, resulting in suboptimal logistics performance for several countries. This study proposes an analysis of the contribution of logistics infrastructure and infrastructure investment in ASEAN countries to the overall economic growth of ASEAN. This study also aims to provide valuable insights for formulating effective policies that promote regional connectivity and accelerate economic integration in the ASEAN region. This study employs a fixed effect model with panel data from eight ASEAN nations (Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, and Vietnam) gathered between 2021 and 2022. The results show that ASEAN countries’ logistics infrastructure is yet to affect ASEAN economic growth optimally. However, ASEAN countries’ domestic infrastructure investment significantly and negatively affects ASEAN economic growth. ASEAN governments must prioritize and actively develop logistics infrastructure, both nationally and regionally, to help develop regional linkages and promote sustainable economic growth rates. They should also intensify coordination efforts, optimize regional financial integration, identify alternative funding sources, and assess regulations restricting private sector participation to maximize private sector investments in infrastructure development, including public-private partnership (PPP). This paper uses panel data over the 2006 - 2019 periods, a modified endogenous growth equation, and a dynamic panel estimator to investigate the impact of globalization on economic growth in Sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries, and how the fragility of SSA countries is influencing this impact. Utilizing a two-step System GMM, the findings of the study show that globalization had a significant positive impact on economic growth, while the impact of state fragility is negative and significant. In examining the role of state fragility, as a moderator, in the globalization-economic growth nexus, the findings reveal that the interactive effect of state fragility and globalization on economic growth is negative and statistically significant. This suggests that state fragility interacts with globalization to weaken the impact of the latter on economic growth. This objective of this paper is to analyze the impact of monetary policy on economic growth in Tunisian. After a revolution or significant political changes, countries may reassess and adjust their economic policies, including monetary policy, to address new challenges and align with the evolving economic and political landscape. Central banks often play a crucial role in maintaining economic stability, and changes in leadership or government can lead to shifts in monetary policy objectives and strategies. Using an ARDL model applied to monthly data over the 2011/2021 period, the results revealed that money supply has a positive long-run impact on economic growth in Tunisian after revolution. On the other hand; other instruments such as the interest rate, exchange rate have a significant negative relationship with economic growth. In fact, when interest rates are high, it becomes more expensive to borrow money, so people and businesses are less likely to invest and spend. Findings also depict that increase in Domestic Credit to Private Sector hurts the economic growth. A negative effect on domestic credit could lead a central bank to consider lowering interest rates or implementing other measures to stimulate credit growth and support economic activity. Besides, inflation was shown to play an indirect role by increasing the impact of economic growth. Due to the effect of the revolution, the political instability and high international food and fuel prices negatively affected the domestic prices; Tunisia reached an inflation rate of 4.8% in 2021. Findings of the study have important implications that may discuss the need to adapt monetary policy to ensure economic stability in the aftermath of the Tunisian revolution. This could involve addressing challenges such as inflation, exchange rate fluctuations, and overall economic uncertainty. There might be recommendations for adjustments to monetary policy tools and strategies. This could include changes in interest rates, currency management, and liquidity measures to support economic recovery and growth. The implications might involve collaboration between monetary authorities and the government to implement coordinated fiscal and monetary policies. As globalization continues to shape the global economic landscape, understanding its intricate relationship with economic growth remains paramount in regions like sub-Saharan Africa. Hence, this study presents a comprehensive analysis of globalization's impact on economic growth in sub-Saharan Africa from 1971 to 2019. Using panel data from reputable databases on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), World Development Indicators, Penn World Table 10.0, and Our World Data, the paper explores various dimensions of globalization, including economic, social, and political factors. The feasible generalized least square (FGLS) estimation technique was used to analyze data. Findings reveal nuanced dynamics, with social and financial globalization indices showing positive effects on economic growth and statistically significant at 1% significance level. Additionally, this study uncovers the influence of demographic indicators, government consumption, and the rule of law on economic growth. The result of the study revealed demographic indicators, government consumption, and the rule of law had statistically significant impacts on the economic growth of sub-Sahara Africa. In contrast, certain aspects of economic globalization exhibit negative impacts. However, political, trade, information, and cultural globalization had no significant impact on economic growth of the region. It is important to recognize that the absence of significant effects does not necessarily imply an absence of impact, but rather reflects the multifaceted nature of globalization's influence on economic growth. Several factors, including differences in the periods analyzed, may account for the differences in these results compared to previous studies. This study not only adds to the existing literature on globalization and economic growth but also offers valuable insights for policymakers tasked with promoting sustainable development in sub-Saharan Africa. By acknowledging the complexities of globalization's impact, policy makers can formulate more effective strategies to harness its benefits while mitigating its potential drawbacks. The text explores the case of three economies with a significant degree of internationalization (Brazil, South Korea and Mexico) between 2005 and 2015 to define their mode of integration and its impact on economic development. Until the Augmented Neo-Classical Growth Model developed by Mankiw, Romer and Weil, growth theories have ignored the human capital factor. This study aims to investigate the impact of health on economic growth in Turkey between 1960-2014 through a production function that includes human capital. Health and education are included in the production function as the two main components of human capital. The Multivariate Auto-Regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) Bounds Test was conducted for empirical analysis. As a result, a significant long-term cointegration relationship was found between the variables. The results also indicate that a 1% increase in life expectancy at birth leads to a 0.67% increase in GDP, a 1% increase in the number of students per teacher in vocational and technical secondary education leads to a 0.21% decrease in GDP, and a 1% increase in the number of students per teacher in tertiary education leads to a 0.21% increase in GDP. Purpose: Few empirical studies examined the relationship between life expectancy and income in India. This study aims to examine the impact of life expectancy on economic growth in India by incorporating all the major states of India. Design/methodology/approach: This study is based on secondary data and includes 16 major states of India covering the periods 2000–2014. The author used panel fixed effect model (FEM) to examine the impact of life expectancy on economic growth. Findings: Empirical analysis revealed a positive trend in life expectancy in India. In association with life expectancy, the author found continuous growth in the elderly population. The result of the FEM shows that gains in life expectancy positively affect economic growth in India. The empirical findings do not support any negative impact of life expectancy gains on economic growth. Originality/value: This study is the outcome of the independent and original research work of the authors and contributes significantly to the literature on the demography–economic relationship. International tourism and foreign direct investment (FDI) constitute the bedrock of economic vitality, propelling growth and progress in the economies. This study delves into the intricate relationships among international tourism, FDI, and economic growth within the context of Thailand. Nevertheless, a tourism development index is created by pooling distinct components of global tourism to evaluate the aggregate effect on economic growth. Using data from 1991 to 2021 and the ARDL bound testing approach to cointegration, this study indicates that international tourism and FDI have long-term positive impacts on Thailand's economic growth. The sensitivity and stability tests were used to assess the robustness of these results. This paper examines the asymmetric impact of financial development on economic growth in Mauritius during the period 1980–2021. The analyses were carried out using a nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag (NARDL) model in conjunction with additional complementary tests, including the NARDL bounds F-test for cointegration, the Brock-Dechert-Scheinkman (BDS) nonlinearity test, and the Wald test for asymmetries. The findings of the bounds F-test provide support for a nonlinear cointegration, whereas the BDS test shows the presence of nonlinearity in the data for all the variables. The Wald test results revealed an asymmetric relationship between financial development and economic growth in Mauritius, both in the short and long run. The NARDL findings show that, on average, positive changes in financial development lead to economic growth in the long and short run. Therefore, the paper encourages the government of Mauritius to continue pursuing policies aimed at the expansion of its financial sector since it has a significant positive impact on its economic growth. This study investigates the role of energy imports in domestic production function in the case of 15 energy-importing countries for the period of 1995–2015. Apart from energy imports, renewable energy consumption, non-renewable energy consumption, capital, trade openness, and urbanization are included in the growth model. In doing so, long-run elasticity coefficients are estimated with the Dynamic Seemingly Unrelated Regressions (DSUR) model after determining the cointegration relationship between the variables. In addition, for robustness checks, Panel Correlated Standard Errors (PCSE) and Feasible Generalized Least Squares (FGLS) estimators are applied. Our results show that renewable energy consumption, non-renewable energy consumption, trade openness, and capital have a positive effect on economic growth. Energy imports negatively affect economic growth. The Dumitrescu-Hurlin causality analysis reveals a bidirectional causality relationship between renewable energy consumption, capital, trade openness, urbanization, and economic growth. A unidirectional causality relationship exists from economic growth to non-renewable energy consumption and energy imports. This analysis can be interpreted as having a negative impact on economic growth by putting pressure on the current account deficit due to energy imports. This study examines the short-run and long-run impacts of foreign aid and remittances on economic growth in a panel of 31 African countries from 1980 to 2019 utilizing the ARDL Pool Mean Group (PMG) estimation technique. The PMG is utilized based on the outcome of the Hausman test which justifies it appropriateness. There is long-run association among the regressors and the regressand in the model. Our results indicate that, in the short-run, remittance and foreign aid respectively have a negative impact on economic growth but that impact is statistically insignificant. In the long-run, however, remittances have a positive and significant impact on economic growth while foreign aid has a positive but insignificant effect on economic growth on the continent. These results have substantial policy implications. African governments should adopt effective policies to maximize the usefulness and effectiveness of foreign capital, such as foreign aid and remittances, in boosting economic growth. Purpose: This paper explores whether data back the claim that imports of armaments are inherently bad for economic growth. Regardless of one's point of view, the production and trade of weaponry is a significant industry with serious economic implications that warrant investigation. The financial repercussions of military spending have been extensively studied, but the economic effects of arms importation remain unknown. Design/methodology/approach: This study adopts a pooled mean group approach to investigate the nexus between arms imports, military expenditure and per capita GDP for a balanced panel of twenty-five of the top arms importers in the world from 2000 to 2021. Findings: The authors find that arms imports and military spending negatively impact GDP per capita in the short run, but military spending is beneficial over the long run. The authors also used the Dumitrescu Hurlin Granger causality test, which revealed a unidirectional causation between per capita GDP and military expenditure, and a unidirectional causal relationship from military spending to arms imports. Research limitations/implications: This paper is deficient in a few aspects: first, it looks at only those countries comprising the top 70% of arms imports. Second, it omits many political, technological and legal factors that impact arms imports and military expenditures. Originality/value: This paper looks into the impact of defense spending and arms imports on economic growth for twenty-five nations with the highest share of arms imports in recent times. It is a significant addition to the literature as it resolves the debate of whether or not the military expenditure is wasteful and whether arms imports significantly harm the nation's economic growth. The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) records that the economic growth in Lampung Province has experienced a lower growth rate compared to the national economic growth. This condition is exacerbated by the lack of development in existing infrastructure, especially provincial roads that have suffered severe damage. In this context, the provision of toll road infrastructure becomes crucial in regional development as it serves as a means to facilitate and support community activities. This study aims to analyze the differences in the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of transportation and warehousing, tourism, agriculture, forestry and fisheries, Regional Original Income (PAD), and economic growth of districts in Lampung Province before and after the existence of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road. The research method used is a quantitative approach using five variables, namely Transportation and Warehousing, Tourism, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Regional Original Income, and Economic Growth. Secondary data related to these variables were collected, especially those related to transportation and warehousing, tourism, agriculture, forestry and fisheries, regional original income, and economic growth. The study involved six Districts/Cities in Lampung Province traversed by the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road, namely South Lampung, Central Lampung, Mesuji, Pesawaran, Tulang Bawang, and West Tulang Bawang. Observation samples were collected for 4 years before and 4 years after the existence of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road for the period 2015-2022. The collected data was then processed using SPSS Ver. 26 software. The results of the study indicate that the existence of the Trans-Sumatra toll road in several districts of Lampung Province has a significant impact on various economic sectors and Regional Original Income (PAD). The presence of significant average differences indicates that the Trans-Sumatra toll road has had a considerable impact on the economic sector and Regional Original Income in the mentioned districts. Approaching by spatial regression method, this study examines the impact of fiscal decentralisation on economic growth in 63 provinces/cities of Vietnam in the period 2010–2020. Findings suggest that, in general, revenue decentralisation and expenditure decentralisation not only have a positive impact on the economic growth of provinces/cities but also have spillover effects on other locations in improving GRDP per capita. This research explores the evolution of several socioeconomic indicators belonging to the aggregate dimension of inequality (income, health, life expectancy, education, and sustainable development) in 5 CEE countries spanning 2010-2019. A special focus is dedicated to Romania's national and regional framework due to mixed evidence concerning inequality's impact on economic growth, poverty and human development. Our main results show a high value of this group's recorded human development index (HDI), indicating an elevated level of the population's well-being. Nevertheless, further analyses reflect severe disparities among countries and regions in terms of productivity, earnings, and social inclusion, corroborated by losses in education and welfare due to increased inequality. The province of South Sumatra is widely known as one of the most prosperous regions in Indonesia. In fiscal year 2022, the region's gross domestic product (GDRP) was Rp 591.603,48 billion, with a per capita income of Rp 68,31 billion. Additionally, this economy grew by 5,23%, exceeding the national average, and contributed Rp 9,98 trillion in actual revenue for the government. Nevertheless, the level of poverty remains significant, at 11.9%. Numerous scholarly studies have been conducted over the past few decades to investigate the interconnections between economic growth, income disparity, and poverty alleviation. The prevailing findings of these studies have consistently demonstrated that there is a positive correlation between economic growth and poverty alleviation. However, the relationship between economic growth and income inequality remains uncertain. This study aims to investigate the interrelationships between economic growth, inequality, and poverty reduction in the province of South Sumatra. The methodologies employed encompass descriptive analysis and panel data analysis. The analysis utilises Gross Domestic Regional Product (GDRP) statistics at the regency level, as well as data from the National Socio-economic Survey and local government budgets spanning the period from 2015 to 2022. The findings indicate that economic growth has turned out to be the result of increasing poverty and income inequality all at once. Growth in the mining and agricultural sectors tends to increase poverty because it is capital-intensive and does not appear to absorb labour from people experiencing poverty. The object of this study was the process of digitalization of the economy and society of the European Union. The task of researching the impact of digitalization on the economic growth of the European Union has been solved. The relevance of the chosen topic is due to the complexity of digital transformation processes taking place in the world economy and the economy of the European Union, in particular, the need to assess their directions and intensity. Four approaches to modeling the impact of digitalization on economic growth based on the neoclassical production function were proposed. The structure of the model was chosen, which makes it possible to evaluate the influence of various factors of digitalization on the key parameters of economic growth. A regression multivariate model for assessing the impact of digitalization on the economic growth of the European Union has been developed. To this end, a sequence of stages was performed: formation of the information base, grouping of digitalization factors, as well as their selection based on correlation analysis. With the help of regression analysis, the parameters of the production function were expressed through digitalization indicators. At the same time, due to the limitation of input data, the Elastic Net Regression method was used. This made it possible to ensure the quality of the new model, namely, to remove low-impact parameters, reduce the multicollinearity of factors, make the model statistically significant, and ensure the stability of coefficients to data changes. The resulting model is eleven-factor; it demonstrates a high predictive ability (the coefficient of determination is 0.987). It can be used as an analytical tool for assessing the impact of digitalization on the economic growth of the European Union. Background: Recent years have witnessed a growing interest among academics and policymakers in understanding the mechaninsms through which Chinese outward direct investment (OFDI) impact economic growth in Africa. Method: This study utilzes a dataset spanning 41 African countries from 2005 to 2020,employing panel‐corrected standard error (PCSE) and quantile regression. Objective: This study explore the mechanisms through which Chinese OFDI stock contributes to economic growth in Africa,with a particular focus on financial development and transport infrastructure. Results: The results indicate a significant and positive impact of the interaction between Chinese OFDI stock and both financial development and transport infrastructure on economic growth. The subregional analysis reveals varying correlations across regions, while the quantile regression analysis demonstrates a stronger effect on economic growth as we move to higher quantiles. Conclusion: The study underscores the importance of enhancing infrastructure and financial sector development to attract more Chinese OFDI and maximize its positive impact of economic growth in African nations. Hence, we recommend that African countries improve the infrastructure and financial sector of their country to attract more chinese OFDI and also enhance its effectiveness on their economic growth. The literature has mainly focused on analyzing the relationship of remittances with economic growth and social welfare, neglecting more complex aspects where remittances can have relevant implications. To contribute to the literature, the objective of this research is to examine the dynamic relationship between remittances, capital formation, structural transformation and economic growth in 15 Latin American countries during the period 1996–2019. To meet the objective, a panel vector autoregressive regression (PVAR) model was estimated, focusing on the analysis of the impulse-response function and variance decomposition. The results show a positive effect of remittances on economic growth and capital formation and a negative effect of remittances on structural transformation for initial periods and positive for later periods, framing a non-linear relationship. In addition, it was determined that structural transformation does not have a significant impact on economic growth. Finally, it was found that capital formation has a partial positive effect on economic growth. This study examines the impact of macroprudential policy (MaPP) on macroeconomic conditions. Using data from 2004-2005 to 2019-2020, this study finds that increased use of MaPP is associated with higher consumption and economic growth. However, this study does not find a significant effect on inflation. From a threshold perspective, the study reveals that MaPP has a positive impact on consumption and economic growth up to a threshold level of 34.00; however, above this level, MaPP has a negative impact on both variables. Similarly, MaPP has a positive impact on inflation rates below the threshold level but has a negative impact above it. Introduction/Main Objectives: This paper explores the nonlinear effect of economic growth on the accumulation of public debt for groups of countries, based on their income levels, by finding its threshold estimator. Background Problems: The existing literature has discussed the debt's effect on growth intensively. Thus, empirical analysis to observe the inverse relationship between both variables is needed. Novelty: This paper confirms the negative and nonlinear impact of economic growth on public debt, and finds the threshold levels of economic growth on debt in high-income countries (HIC) and low-and middle-income countries (LMIC). Research Methods: We employed OLS panel regression with data covering 62 countries from 1970 to 2015. The fixed-effect panel threshold model is used to estimate the threshold level of economic growth that affects debt accumulation. Finding/Results: We found that economic growth reduces the public debt in the long run. In HIC, we find two threshold levels of economic growth, at 2.92% and at 8.41%. Moreover, in LMIC, a single threshold is found at 11.61%. Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) is seeing exceptional urbanization and economic expansion rates. Therefore, the STIRPAT (Stochastic Impacts by Regression on Population, Affluence, and Technology) parameters and the spatial econometric framework are used in this work to examine the influence of economic growth and urbanization on SSA's CO2 emissions. Likewise, to determine the spatial effect and understand how factors influence the spatial dependence of carbon emissions, the study builds a spatial Durbin model (SDM). In line with the findings, the spatial correlation test revealed the spatial correlations across various countries. This indicates that the changes in sub-Saharan African country's CO2 emissions impacted nearby countries and the countries themselves. Additionally, the findings reveal that, in the SSA's countries, urbanization, economic growth, industrial structure, trade, and population, excluding energy intensity, which failed the significant test, all positively influence CO2 outflows, in line with the spatial econometric model's findings. Thus, energy intensity shares an adverse impact on carbon emissions. As an outcome, energy intensity reduces carbon dioxide emissions in nearby nations and the entire region. Thus, the study recommends that policymakers account for the effects of spatial spillover when establishing low-carbon policies, encouraging a low-carbon lifestyle, promoting environmentally friendly technologies, and improving regional collaboration. The globe is now in ecological turmoil as a result of the unrelenting increase in global warming. As a result, governments worldwide are committing to decarbonizing the environment, with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) playing an important role in this effort. Hence, this paper evaluates the nonlinear (asymmetric) impact of natural gas consumption on renewable energy consumption and economic growth in the KSA and the UAE utilizing data stretching from 1990 to 2020. The study also considers other drivers of renewable energy consumption and economic growth, such as trade openness and CO2 emissions. The study utilizes nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) to evaluate these associations. The outcomes of bounds nonlinear ARDL (NARDL), affirm the long-run association between the variables in both countries. The nonlinear results show that positive and negative shocks in natural gas consumption have a negative impact on renewable energy in both UAE and KSA. In 1975, the 15 countries that comprise the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) formalized a trade agreement to integrate their economies to make it easier for them to trade with each other and thus promote economic growth and development. Since then, the evidence suggests that intra-regional trade has not changed much. In this paper, we examine the factors hindering trade using data from 2000, 2010, and 2020 and a modified version of the gravity equation. The results of our study suggest that economic factors are primarily responsible for intra-ECOWAS trade and that policies designed to improve transportation infrastructure and reduce administrative barriers could significantly improve intra-ECOWAS trade. This paper discusses some comparative analysis between the pattern of economic performances in Asia and Western Europe during 1950s-2020s through political economies perspective. The Asian and Western European economic performances are investigated through some stylized facts in the sense of economic factors. This research investigates the relationship between exchange rates and economic growth in Nigeria during the period from 1981 to 2019. The research conducted an analysis of Nigerian data using the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) technique and identified that Exchange Rates have a favourable impact on Economic Growth. This paper affirmed the regression's validity with stationary residuals and found no long-term equilibrium using Bound Cointegration. The ARDL modelling revealed short-term connections between exchange rates and economic growth. Positive correlations were observed between exchange rates, GDP per capita growth, interest rates, and total exports, while negative relationships were noted with inflation and total imports, highlighting the importance of exchange rate stability in sustaining economic growth. This research provides a novel viewpoint on the connection between exchange rates and economic growth in Nigeria during the period from 1981 to 2019. This study examines the intricate relationship between natural resource abundance, with a specific focus on oil production, and its impact on economic growth in Ghana. Through the application of the robust Fully Modified OLS methodology and using data spanned from 1960–2021 the research underscores the essential inclusion of oil as a significant variable in comprehending economic growth dynamics. Contrary to traditional resource curse theories, the study unveils a positive nexus between oil production and economic growth, particularly within a comprehensive variable framework. This finding challenges simplistic resource curse notions and underscores the need for a holistic economic perspective. Overall, the results show that the impact of oil production on economic growth is sensitive to the inclusion or exclusion of other variables in the model. In Model 1, where all variables are included, oil production has a significant positive (0.0112**) impact on growth. Ghana's success in avoiding the resource curse is attributed to a multifaceted strategy encompassing diversified economic approaches, transparent governance, and responsible oil revenue management. Importantly, the inclusion of oil as a pivotal variable is well-justified by its tangible contributions to economic growth. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between remittances and economic growth in South Africa, using data running from 1970 to 2019. We utilize the ARDL bounds testing approach to explore the relationship between remittances and economic growth, incorporating control variables and addressing structural breaks. Our findings suggest that the structural change in economic growth occurred in 2008 during the global financial crisis, while the break point for remittances emerged in 1997. After taking into consideration the presence of structural breaks, our study found the estimated coefficient for remittances to be statistically significant at the 1% level of significance. The coefficient is negative, indicating that remittances have a negative impact on economic growth. This result is robust to alternative estimators, including the fully modified least squares technique and the impulse response function. Despite employing different estimation methods, the consistent finding of a negative relationship between remittance inflows and economic growth underscores the reliability of our conclusion. Being a recipient of remittances, it is appropriate for a study of this nature to guide policy makers in formulating appropriate policies to benefit from the full impact of remittances, diversify the economy, and reduce reliance on remittance inflows. Since 2005, the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) mandatory adoption in the European Union has played a pivotal role to reduce financing costs which has influenced positively economic growth across member states. Thus, this study examines the effect of Cost of Capital on Economic Growth under IFRS mandatory adoption in 17 European countries between 1994 and 2021 using Pooled Mean Group Autoregressive Distributed Lag (PMG-ARDL) and System Generalized Method of Moments (GMM-system) methods. The findings reveal a positive correlation between the Cost of Capital and Economic Growth under IFRS adoption. Specifically, the model estimates indicate that the Cost of Capital contributes to a 0.58% increase in Economic Growth in the PMG-ARDL framework. Moreover, the GMM-system model underscores the significance of IFRS adoption in reducing the Cost of Capital, leading to a 0.52% increase in Economic Growth. These results provide insights into the benefits of adopting international accounting standards and highlight the importance of institutional and financial factors in shaping the economic impact of adopting accounting standards. This research investigates the role of infrastructure in the nexus between financial development and economic growth in 20 SSA countries. Our study is among the few to have observed an asymmetric connection between financial development and growth, while also measuring the interactive role of infrastructure on growth in SSA, which is considered the most vulnerable region in the world. While employing the pooled mean group (PMG) estimation technique on the data (spanning 1985 - 2018) obtained through secondary sources, our empirical findings suggest a non-linear linkage between financial development and economic growth, such that the positive impact outweighs the negative one in both the shortrun and the long-run. The non-linear estimate, however, provides that financial development has a mixed impact on economic growth as it indicates a positive effect to a certain level after which it hurts growth. Moreover, a negative long-run coefficient is observed on infrastructure, wherein it reduces the growth rate of the SSA economy by an average of 0.27%. On the final note, the interaction effect of infrastructure and financial development reveal a positive linkage with economic growth, wherein infrastructure enhances the longrun positive effect of financial development on the growth of the SSA countries by 0.23%. The purpose of this paper is to examine the effectiveness of monetary and fiscal policy instruments, to determine the level of influence of monetary and fiscal factors on economic growth, as well as to justify ways for improving the effectiveness of monetary and fiscal policy coordination. Insufficient coordination of monetary and fiscal policies entails devastating economic consequences. The critical analysis of scientific publications proved that today the coordination of monetary and fiscal policies depends on the degree of balanced regulation of interest rates and inflation control. The research uses a NARDL model to capture mainstream trends in the influence of monetary and fiscal factors, as well as in the empirical study of their coordination. According to the estimations it was established that the weighted average rate of NBU instruments is absorbed to a greater extent in the monetary component of coordination, the system of managing the internal public debt – in the fiscal component. The participation of monetary authorities in the management of the national internal debt remains a debatable issue today. It is proved that the process of coordination of monetary and fiscal policies is influenced by the state of Ukraine’s economy during the war. Despite the difficult political and economic situation in Ukraine, it is necessary to focus on improving the coordination of monetary and fiscal policies. In particular, the significant contribution of the NBU in financing the state budget deficit due to their purchase of government bonds needs to be resolved. Strengthening the role of macroprudential policy in the coordination of monetary and fiscal policies, one of the goals of which is to counter the emergence of a systemic crisis; formation of a clearly developed coordination strategy, which would be based on clearly defined goals, set tasks on the basis of selected methods and instruments for their achievement. This study examines the important manifestations of economic globalization, such as increased international trade, inward foreign direct investment (FDI), and air passenger transport (PAX) on economic growth and environmental quality in Southeast Asian countries. The results of data analysis for the period 1990–2019 using the panel autoregressive distributed lag model (ARDL) have confirmed the long run impact of these factors on economic growth and environmental quality (the reduction of CO2 emissions into the environment per unit of production) in Southeast Asia. Furthermore, international trade and PAX positively affect economic growth in both groups of lower-middle-income countries and upper-middle and high-income countries. Inward FDI, however, only has a positive effect on economic growth for the group of lower-middle-income in the short run. In the long run, it has a negative impact. On the other hand, when the manifestations of economic globalization increase, they lead to an increase in CO2 emissions, but there is a decrease in this ratio per unit of production in the long run and in most countries in the short run. Purpose: Empirical studies regarding the impact of the real exchange rate (RER) on economic growth are extensively available. However, the literature as a whole appears to report varying results, while the causes of such differences have not been analyzed systematically. The present study aims to fill the gap in the literature. Design/methodology/approach: In this paper, the authors compile 543 empirical estimates from 51 studies of the exchange rate-growth nexus in order to meta-analyze its relationship. Meta-analysis allows the authors to quantitatively synthesize previous empirical studies and explain the variation in the results. This method also enables us to investigate the possibility of publication bias, as there is a tendency in research only to report results that are both statistically significant and show the expected signs. Findings: After addressing publication bias and heterogeneity in the estimates, the meta-regression results show that RER depreciation (or undervaluation) genuinely favors economic growth. On average, RER depreciation has a greater impact on economic growth in developing countries than the developed ones. The study's results imply that maintaining an undervalued RER could be favorable to spur economic growth, especially in developing countries. Originality/value: Initially predominant in the medical literature, meta-analysis has been on a rising edge in economics. This progress has produced many systematic quantitative review analyses with continuously improved statistical-econometric practices related to economic variables. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to empirically analyze the impact of remittance inflows on sustained economic growth in India. Design/methodology/approach: This study has taken a time series dataset for the period of 1976–2021, and a nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag model technique (NARDL) has been applied to check the impact of remittance inflows along with other control variables, including broad money and service sector performance, on the sustained economic growth of India. Findings: The results of the study indicated that in both the short and long runs, any positive shock in remittance inflows has a positive impact on the economic growth of India, while negative shocks do not affect economic growth. Practical implications: The economic policymakers of India can use the findings of the study by implementing remittance-friendly policies. This paper examines the effects of the real effective exchange rate on economic growth in 11 African countries from 1990 to 2022 using linear and nonlinear panel ARDL estimators. The linear panel ARDLPMG results indicate that broad money supply and general government consumption positively impact economic growth in the short and long term, while the real effective exchange rate has an insignificant effect. The negative and statistically significant error correction term (ECTt-1) suggests a long-term relationship between the variables. Similarly, the nonlinear panel ARDL-PMG results show that broad money supply and general government consumption have positive and significant effects on economic growth in both the short and long term. Negative shocks in the real effective exchange rate hinder economic growth in the short and long term, while positive shocks do not significantly affect economic growth. This research aims to analyze the effect of MSME fund disbursement and non-performing financing (NPF) on Indonesia's economic growth in the 2015-2022 period. The research method used is quantitative with a descriptive approach. The data used comes from secondary data sources, such as the financial statements of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Central Bureau of Statistics. The results showed that partially, the distribution of MSME funds had a positive and significant effect on Indonesia's economic growth. This shows that financial support provided to MSMEs through the distribution of funds makes an important contribution in encouraging better economic growth. However, partially, non-performing financing (NPF) has an insignificant negative effect on economic growth. Although the NPF problem may affect the financial sector, the results of this research show that its impact on overall economic growth is not significant. Simultaneously, MSME disbursement and NPF have a positive and significant influence on Indonesia's economic growth. This result confirms the importance of good management of MSME disbursement and NPF control in supporting sustainable economic growth. The implication of this research is that proper allocation of funds to MSMEs can improve business efficiency and development. In addition, effective handling of the NPF problem can minimize its negative impact on economic growth. This study investigates the impact of South Africa's current account balance on its economic growth from Q1 2015 to Q4 2022 using Auto Regressive Distributed Lags (ARDL) technique. This study incorporates qualitative variables like COVID-19 to understand its effect on the South African current account and economic growth rate. Generally, the results show that the South African current account deficit impacted economic growth in both the long and short run. COVID-19 also affected the current account significantly in both the long and short run, thus causing more deterioration on the South African current account and subsequently affecting the economic growth rate negatively. This study recommends more competitive export promotion and import substitution by investing in and developing domestic productivity. This research explores the crucial role of education in improving the quality of human capital and overcoming poverty in Indonesia. Inspired by literature that emphasizes the complex relationship between education, income inequality, and economic growth on factors affecting poverty, including education, health, and internet access. Key findings show that education, especially high, has a significant positive impact on well-being, with every 1% increase in education contributing to a 1% increase in wellbeing, a 1% significance rate. Policy recommendations are given to governments to increase investment in education, achieve sustainable economic growth, and reduce poverty rates. Although 20% of the state budget has been allocated to education, challenges remain in providing equitable and quality education across the region, affirming that investment in education is an effective strategy to achieve inclusive and sustainable development. Due to the advancement of technology, P2P lending has become a growing industry in Indonesia as an alternative credit different from a conventional bank, which also might contribute to fostering economic growth. This paper's purpose is to analyze the contribution of P2P lending to Product Domestic Regional Bruto (PDRB) in 5 provinces in Java, which are Banten, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, and East Java, using fixed effect panel regressions from Q1-2020 to Q2-2022 period. This article analyzes the relationship between the services sector and Ecuadorian economic growth using cointegration and causality econometric techniques from 1990-2018. The results indicate that services as a whole, particularly trade and transportation, positively impact economic growth in the long run. This study examines the impact of gender-specific human capital on economic growth and explores how this impact depends on the level of financial development. There is considerable debate about the contribution of gender-specific human capital to substantial economic growth. This study utilized panel data from 57 countries spanning the period of 1980 to 2020 and employed pooled OLS and fixed effect techniques for empirical analysis. The results indicate that both male and female human capital exert a significant and positive impact on economic growth. Furthermore, the findings reveal that financial development undermines the positive impact of male and female human capital on economic growth, suggesting substitutability between human capital and financial development.
