This study examines the impact of female labour participation and life expectancy on economic growth in Southeast Asia economies using non-stationary panel data techniques. The study utilizes balanced panel data spanning from 1992 to 2020, encompassing ten countries in Southeast Asia. The results reveal that economic growth, female labour participation, and other factors are cointegrated. The findings indicate that trade openness has a negative impact on economic growth. However, we find that female labour participation, female longevity, female education, domestic investment, and foreign direct investment have a positive long-term effect on economic growth. Our study also highlights that the effect of female labour participation on growth varies depending on female longevity. We find that female labour participation positively impacts economic growth but changes negatively when countries exhibit a high level of female life expectancy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research delves into whether access to natural resources is a blessing or a curse, a matter of contention within contemporary literature. Lacking conclusive evidence, particularly within the G‐20 countries, this study endeavors to establish the intricate linkages between economic development, natural resources, and economic complexity. A subset of G‐20 economies from 1990 to 2021 was used to analyze the results of the second‐generation CS‐ARDL model. After accounting for variables like corruption, total labor force, gross capital formation, trade openness, and inflow of foreign direct investment, we find that natural resources, economic complexity, corruption and gross capital formation are significant and adverse predictors of economic growth. Natural resource dependence is susceptible to price fluctuations and sustainability concerns, economic complexity may introduce market volatility challenges, corruption erodes trust and transparency, and excessive gross capital formation can lead to economic imbalances. On the other hand, economic growth is positively impacted by the additional effects of the control variables, including foreign direct investment, trade openness and labor force. In crafting its policy recommendations, this study artfully weaves a tapestry that resonates with the core principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These strategic imperatives include the adept stewardship of resources, the cultivation of economic diversity, the seamless facilitation of trade, the fortification against corruption, and a harmonious symphony that underscores financial stability and the nurturing of human capital, ultimately painting a vivid portrait of sustainable economic growth. Economic growth is resulting in serious environmental problems. Effectively establishing an economic growth model that considers environmental pollution is an important topic. To analyze the interplay between economic growth and environmental pollution, a fractional-order time-delayed economic growth model with environmental purification is proposed in this paper. The established model considers not only the environment and economic production but also the labor force population and total factor productivity. The labor force is a crucial factor in conducting economic activities, especially in labor-surplus countries like Pakistan. In this study, we explore the impact of labor force participation (LF) on economic growth (EG), with an emphasis on how this impact depends on the levels of health and education expenditures. We analyze time series data from Pakistan spanning from 1980 to 2022, using ARDL (Autoregressive Distributed Lag), ECM (Error Correction Model) and Granger causality techniques for empirical analysis. The ARDL results indicate that LF significantly boosts EG, both in the short and long run. Furthermore, the estimations reveal that better facilities for health and education strengthen the positive effects of LF on EG. This suggests a complementary relationship between health, education, and LF in driving EG. Moreover, our findings highlight the temporal significance of health and education: Health plays a more crucial role in the short run, while education's impact is more substantial in the long run. Furthermore, the Granger causality results indicate that LF, health, and education significantly contribute to EG. It is advisable for the government to prioritize investments in the health and education sectors. This study offers a comprehensive examination of economic growth and convergence in the Indian States and Union Territories (U.T.) over the period from 1991 to 2020. It investigates absolute, sigma, and conditional convergence within this diverse set of states and utilizes the augmented Solow and extended Solow models to explore conditional convergence dynamics. The empirical findings reveal several significant insights. First, there is no substantial negative correlation between the initial per capita GDP ratio and the average annual growth rate, indicating the absence of absolute convergence across the Indian States and U.T. economies during the study period. These results align with those obtained from sigma convergence analysis, reinforcing the absence of widespread convergence. However, conditional convergence is observed, as evidenced by the rate of conditional convergence (coefficient of initial GDP per capita) estimated at 0.038 among the Indian States and U.T. The presence of conditional convergence implies that while initial conditions matter, other factors, including physical and human capital, population growth, and additional variables, significantly contribute to the growth and convergence of Indian regions. The study concludes that policies aimed at promoting economic growth in the Indian States should prioritize the expansion of the labor force, investments in physical and human capital, and prudent government consumption. Furthermore, fostering an environment that encourages access to new technologies and ideas, maintaining sound macroeconomic management, and increasing investments in human capital formation are essential for sustained growth. Effective resource allocation through prudent budgetary policies and heightened investments in the health sector are recommended. Incentives to reduce fertility rates and adept monetary policy management are also identified as crucial elements for ensuring stability and sustainable growth. In summary, this research underscores the importance of adopting a holistic approach to foster economic growth and convergence in the Indian States. Purpose: Unemployment is one of the major challenges facing most countries, including Africa as a continent. Seeking how to reduce unemployment, debt, inflation and increase gross domestic product (GDP), foreign direct investment (FDI) and gross capital formation in the continent has been an agenda of governments, policy makers and economists to. This study examines the relationship between economic growth, inflation, debt, FDI, gross capital formation, labor force, population and unemployment in Africa. Design/methodology/approach: An updated panel dataset of 29 African countries was selected from different regions from 1991 to 2019. These countries were selected based on their unemployment, population growth and inflation rates. The Pesaran cross-sectional dependence and panel unit root test (the Dickey–Fuller cross-sectional supplemented and the Im-Pesaran-Shin cross-sectional) were applied. Further, the panel Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model (Bounds test) and pooled mean group (PMG) estimator were utilized in this work. Findings: This shows that economic growth, debt, labor force and population have a positive relationship with unemployment in the long run. Therefore, an increase in these variables generates an increase in the selected African countries' unemployment growth. In contrast, inflation, FDI and gross capital formation have a negative relationship with unemployment in the long run, which implies that an increase in these variables reduces unemployment in the selected African countries. Research limitations/implications: This study has potential limitations because some data from the countries are not up to date and some years are missing from the data. Practical implications: This study contributes to understanding unemployment and Okun's law in the African economy. This study shows that an increase in economic growth leads to a rise in unemployment, while an increase in inflation leads to a decrease in unemployment. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to provide a comprehensive analysis on the economic relationship between trade openness and economic growth and to identify current developments, potential research area and future directions. The emphasis is on the identification of annual growth of publications, country-wise distribution, publication pattern, intellectual structure and cluster analysis of scientific production in this field. Design/methodology/approach: This study used evaluative techniques, text mining approach and performance analysis to identify possible patterns and correlation and to measure the impact of authors/citations/scientific production. Further, this study used the bibliometric mapping to represent the structural features of scientific production. This study emphasized on identification of the research hotspots based on occurrence of indexed keywords, productive researchers and journals during 2000–2022. Further, cluster analysis is performed using VOS viewer to analyze the current dynamics and future direction of the association between trade openness and economic growth (Eck and Waltman, 2011). Also, co-citation analysis is used in this study to identify the relations among authors or journals or documents using citation data, whereas the bibliographic coupling/mapping is intended to analyze the citing documents. Similarly, co-word analysis is used to study the article keywords that are mainly used to assess the conceptual structure of a concerning subject. Findings: Economic growth is a function of trade openness, and it is important to analyze the relationship between trade openness and economic growth. Trade openness tends to become more liberalized over time, to contribute more to economic growth. Empirical evidence suggested that there exists a strong association between trade openness and economic growth. Further, keyword timeline analysis illustrated that the linkage between trade openness and economic growth is current area of interest among researchers. As per bibliometric analysis, China, Pakistan and Malaysia are the three most prolific countries in the terms of published articles on this theme. However, the most influential publications based on h-index and citation on trade openness–economic growth relationship is produced by Turkey. Based on cluster analysis, this study suggests that researchers are currently working on trade openness–economic growth relationship with other variables such as FDI, financial development, labor force, environment degradation and carbon emission, while in future, researchers could work on variables such as technology and sustainable development. Research limitations/implications: There are some limitations of this study. The first limitation is the authors have used Scopus database, leaving the possibility for future research to use Web of Science, Google Scholar or other similar sources. The second limitation is that the authors have used search terms "trade openness "and "economic growth," although research could be performed using synonyms or even relevant terms in other languages. Practical implications: Cluster analysis suggested that researchers are currently working on trade openness–economic growth relationship with other variables such as FDI, financial development, labor force, environment degradation and carbon emission, while in future, researchers could work on variables such as technology and sustainable development. Therefore, this study identified the potential research area in this research domain. Originality/value: To confirm the originality of this study, to the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first study to combine bibliometric analysis and cluster analysis on trade openness–economic growth relationship. In many ECOWAS countries, the decision-making process for public service delivery has long remained shrouded in secrecy, rendering the general public largely uninformed. Integrating information and communication technology (ICT) into public service delivery seeks to break these barriers. This study, therefore, investigates the impact of e-governance on economic growth among ECOWAS countries, with the specific objectives of examining the effect of four components of e-governance as well as other postulated determinants on economic growth. By employing annual data across 16 ECOWAS countries spanning from 2003 to 2021, using system generalised method of moment (SGMM) and panel-corrected standard error (PCSE) techniques. The results from the PCSE and SGMM estimations show that e-governance positively influences economic growth among ECOWAS countries both in the long- and short-run. Furthermore, the study identifies the significant influence of various control variables on economic growth, persisting in both short and long-run analyses, except for the labour force variable in the short run. This underlines the intrinsic correlation between e-governance and economic growth. Consequently, it becomes imperative for stakeholders within the sub-region to meticulously link investments in e-governance with measurable economic growth outcomes. By doing so, these investments can substantiate expansive initiatives in public service delivery, while simultaneously bridging the historical gap of opacity that has separated citizens from effective government management. Urban greening initiatives frequently promise to support economic growth and to improve environmental conditions for communities with ecological science. Despite these lofty goals, much of the labor required to carry out the quotidian, mundane work of cultivating and maintaining urban nature is provided by unpaid volunteers or low-wage landscapers. Drawing on ethnographic research and 50 in-depth interviews with experts and volunteers who manage greening initiatives in Chicago, this article provides an account for why greening labor is valued in abstract symbolic terms but economically marginalized. Namely, I argue that the everyday labor of greening cities is a distinct form of devalued care work that can be referred to as greenwork. Greenwork is devalued because: (1) urban nature is affectively framed as an invaluable asset to communities, (2) greening initiatives have a stratified labor force with few professional opportunities, and (3) nature is theorized as complex and self-sustaining by experts. "Small is Beautiful: An Eco-Socialist Perspective" is a collection of papers and lectures by E.F. Schumacher that critiques orthodox economics and its focus on large-scale industrialization and economic growth. Schumacher argues that infinite economic growth is not possible due to ecological limits and questions the assumption that large-scale economic activity is superior to small-scale activity. The text also discusses criticisms of Schumacher's book, including his neglect of biodiversity loss, his praise of Burma despite human rights abuses, and his negative view of women entering the labor force. This article examines the pattern of female labour force participation since the 2000s in South Asia (SA) and the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) countries. The objectives of the paper are twofold: first, to identify the factors that have led to changes in the patterns of female labour force participation in the two fastest-growing regions of SA and LAC and compare the underlying reasons behind the disparate trends; and second, to explore the policies appropriate for the two regions that can raise female labour force participation. From descriptive statistics and a review of existing research on gender inequality in employment in the two regions, the paper finds that a plethora of factors shape the extent of gender inequality in labour force participation. However, each of the factors has different roles and importance in the two regions, debunking any particular relationship pattern between economic growth and the gender gap in labour force participation. This paper reviews the concept of the demographic dividend and the empirical evidence therefor. The demographic dividend is mainly the result of fertility decline (lower number of births, lower population growth) which translates into a population age structure with a larger work force (age 15–64) and a smaller proportion of children (age 0–14), together with initially few elderly persons (age 65+). In turn, this favors economic growth, but it also has many consequences for households and for state budgets, as well as long-term consequences for population size and the environment. The first part of this paper shows the small correlations at the national macro-economic level between dependency ratios and economic growth. The second part shows the strong correlations at the household level between levels of fertility, child mortality and modern education. The third part discusses the many other correlates of the demographic dividend. The often-cited and controversial focus of the demographic dividend on economic growth hides many other positive effects of fertility control on households, on state budgets, and, in the long-run, on societies and the environment. We study the growth process among a large group of economies where consumption relative to a reference group determines the discount factor of the household agents. We characterize all possible balanced growth paths and their stability properties. The model can explain why two economies having similar production technologies, preferences, and total factor productivity growth rates can differ in labor supply behavior and have diverging growth paths depending on their initial conditions. Numerical analysis of the model suggests that growth path divergence is plausible based on cross‐country differences in savings rates. The current study aims to analyze the factors influencing ASEAN economic growth and integration. Specifically, the variables of inter-regional trade, human resource development, and corruption were investigated in six lower-middle-income countries from 1996 to 2019 through Driscoll and Kraay's, Newey and West's, and Dumitrescu and Hurlin's as causal analysis. The study's results found that capital had an impact of 0.248%, labor had an impact of 0.467%, human development had 3.010%, intra-regional trade had an impact of 0.014%, and corruption control had 0.260%. Statistically, all variables have a significant effect except for inflation. Furthermore, a bidirectional found in economic growth from the capital, corruption control, and intra-trade. A unidirectional was found for economic growth between the labor force and human development. At the same time, a neutral relationship was found between inflation and economic growth. Based on these findings, strengthening the economy in the integration area needs to be done, even if it's only trading with fellow LMIs. Besides that, there is an increasing need to increase the allocation of education and health, which stimulates productivity. This article employs the panel data model to investigate the influence of both higher education scale and quality on economic growth in Macau from 2000–2019 and constructs a V.A.R. model to examine the impact of the higher education scale on economic growth. The model is constructed based on the Cobb–Douglas production function with an alteration derived from existing relevant studies to include enrolled university students as one of the variables. It is found that all-time series are stationary; through the pairwise Granger Causality test, it is observed that the number of students enrolled in the Granger cause of G.D.P. Study results show a high level of a statistically significant relationship in the positive direction between higher education and economic growth, while a 1% increase in enrolled students will lead to a 0.5547% increase in G.D.P. Moreover, in general, higher education exerts a significant positive effect on economic growth in Macau, while the effect of fixed capital formation appears insignificant. We propose an endogenous economic growth DSGE model based on human capital accumulation theory. Then we estimate the DSGE model by the Bayesian method, using the economic data of China, the USA, and Japan from 1996: Q1 to 2018: Q4. It is shown that the estimated models can accurately predict the economic growth rates of the three countries and can tightly fit the economic data of the three countries. Therefore, the model proposed can be employed to predict the economic growth of a typical country and to analyse the determinants of its economic growth in the short and long term. We find that levelling up technology in all fields is helpful for economic growth in the short term, and stimulating labour supply, mitigating monopoly in the goods market and labour market, and increasing the contribution of physical capital in goods production are helpful for economic growth in the long term. Education, innovation, the labour force, and new businesses are considered the key important sectors (factors) for developed and emerging economies. The paper analyses are performed by using the Cobb Douglas production function for analysing the impact and correlation of these factors (variables) on the economic growth of Kosova during the period 2013 - 2021. The variables of public expenditures on education as a percentage of GDP and the labour force have shown a negative impact on growth and they have operated under decreasing returns to scale (based on the Cobb-Douglas function), while the variables of information, computer and telecommunication services (which refer to innovation technology) and new business creation have indicated a positive impact on growth and they have operated under increasing returns to scale (based on the Cobb-Douglas function). In addition, this paper summarized a few useful conclusions: first, public expenditure on education should provide an important contribution on growth; second, enhancing the role of education to improve and develop new knowledge for the labour force in Kosova, and at the same time, to adapt with new labour market demand; third, information, computer and telecommunication is one of the leading export sectors and this sector should provide higher potential and contributions on the economic growth of Kosova; fourth, new businesses creation should provide a significant contribution to increase economic growth. Today, although female workforce is employed more than in the past, it lags behind the employment level of male workforce due to various factors. Insufficient employment of the female workforce also brings along various problems. Therefore, the factors affecting women's employment have been discussed in various studies. In this study, the effects of education and economic growth on women's employment are analyzed for women in different age groups. In the study, panel data analysis was applied by using the 2005-2020 period data of Austria, Australia, Colombia, Portugal, Finland and Turkey. In this context, firstly homogeneity and cross-section dependency tests were performed, and then, based on the results, it was decided which unit root tests would be applied. After applying the unit root tests, it was decided that it would be appropriate to perform the cointegration analysis and the Westerlund cointegration test was applied. Finally, the dynamic least squares (DOLS) method was applied to determine the coefficients. According to the results obtained from the analyzes, it is seen that both education and growth variables negatively affect the unemployment rates of 25-29 years old women. While it was seen that the education variable did not have a significant effect on the female unemployment variable aged 29-34; it has been determined that the effect of the growth variable on the 29-34 years old female unemployment variable is negative. Based on all these, it can be said that education reduces the employment of women in the 25-29 age group, which can be considered as the young age group, but loses its effect over time, and economic growth often positively affects women's employment. Research background: The role of human capital in modern economy development is as important as that of material growth factors. According to the three-sector model theory, economic growth is associated with the process of labour force leaving the primary sector. The research issue addressed in this paper was the human capital level estimation in European NUTS 2 regions and the relationship between the human capital level and sectoral structure of the economy. Purpose of the article: The article aimed to verify the hypotheses of absolute and conditional human capital convergence in European NUTS 2 regions. The analysis covered the 2005-2020 period for European NUTS 2 regions and two subgroups: the CEE regions and the Western European regions. Methods: A composite indicator approach was adopted to measure human capital levels in NUTS 2 regions. In order to verify the absolute and conditional b-convergence hypotheses, dynamic panel data models were estimated. The Blundell and Bond system-GMM estimator with parameter standard errors robust to heteroscedasticity was used. Findings & value added: The study positively verified the hypotheses of absolute and conditional convergence in each group of regions. Percentages of employees in sectors proved to be the steady-state determinants. The time needed to reduce differences occurring in human capital levels by half (a half-life) was about 11 times greater for the CEE regions than for the Western European ones. The value added of the article lies in proving the relationship between the sectoral structure of employees and the pace of human capital convergence in European NUTS 2 regions. This study examines the dynamic association between economic growth, gender inequality, trade openness, and labour force participation in Malaysia over a 40-year timeframe from 1980 to 2019. The results of the autoregressive distributed lag revealed that trade openness and female labour force participation have considerable and significant effects on economic growth. The nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag-bound test results also revealed an uneven long-term relationship between female labour force participation and economic growth. The positive and negative shocks of increased labour force participation have varying effects on Malaysia's economic growth. The Granger causality results revealed the existence of a bidirectional causal association between male and female labour force participation and a unidirectional association between economic growth and male labour force participation, trade openness and male labour force participation, as well as the gender parity index and female labour force participation. These findings suggest that more female labour force participation, a better gender parity index, and greater trade openness contribute to rapid economic growth. The findings encourage policymakers to improve institutional quality for better economic efficiency and female labour force participation in a bid to enhance overall development in Malaysia. This study contributes to understanding the role of workforce health on output growth and the convergence process in 38 OECD members and 58 low-income countries over a 65-year period. Empirical findings based on system GMM estimations show that (i) year gains in the longevity of the younger workforce at ages 15 to 20 have significant effects on economic growth, (ii) after age 20, the rate of convergence slightly decreases with rising age, (iii) increases in adult mortality adversely affect output growth through the loss of human capital productive ages and the decreases in the incentives to invest in physical capital, and (iv) the growth-enhancing effects of the savings rate considerably rises with increasing age in OECD countries but not in low-income countries. The findings of the study provide valuable insights into the critical role that policy can play in promoting workforce health, ultimately productivity, and long-run economic growth. Economic theory, empirical studies and public policy have underlined the importance of the relationship between human capital accumulation and economic growth. Several developing countries have included human capital development as an integral part of their national development plans and have devoted huge financial resources as a cornerstone to promote economic growth. The purpose of this study is to examine the long-run effects of human capital accumulation on the economic growth of a developing economy using evidence from Ethiopia. The study employed the human capital theory of economic growth and the augmented Solow-Swan model as a theoretical framework, and the ARDL bounds co-integration and error correction mechanism for parameter estimation. Time-series data, covering the period 1980/81 to 2019/20, were employed to examine the long-run relationship between economic growth and its dynamic regressors of human capital indicators. The secondary and tertiary educational attainments of the labour force and life expectancy at birth have a significant positive effect on economic growth of Ethiopia, whereas primary education attainment and adult mortality rate have an insignificant negative effect. On the other hand, physical capital accumulation has positively contributed the country's economic growth, but trade openness and external debt adversely affect it. Thus, it is suggested that the policymakers should strengthen the country's institutional capacity while increasing the number of healthy members of the labour force that should also be equipped with quality-based educational attainments. Saudi Arabia is the leading economy in the Arabian Gulf region; it accounts for a significant amount of remittance outflow (RMO) to the rest of the world. The objective of the study is to investigate the impact of remittance outflow on the economic growth (EG) of Saudi Arabia by utilizing time-series data from 1985 to 2019 controlling trade, labor force, human capital, and physical capital. It employs the non-linear autoregressive distributive lag (NARDL) model, cointegrating regressions, and vector error correction (VEC) Granger causality check to accomplish the study. The outcomes of the NARDL exercise confirm a cointegrating association among variables and reveal that RMO has mixed but negative resultant impacts on the EG in the short run, while in the long run, EC growth is augmented if remittance outflows decline. Both trade and labor force positively contribute to EG, while neither human nor physical capital significantly influences the latter. The cointegrating regression outcomes precisely authenticate the NARDL findings and acknowledge their robustness. Moreover, the VEC Granger causality test also supports the NARDL outcomes. The outcome suggests that the policymakers may allure the expatriates through pragmatic labor laws, policies, and smart incentives to direct their savings to domestic consumption and investments. Youth unemployment tends to be higher than in other age groups mainly because young people represent an inexperienced labour force. Some authors also believe it is due to an inability to match the qualified workforce to vacant positions. The importance of enabling young people to participate equally in the labour market is of the essence for economic growth. One of the attempts to tackle this issue was addressed through the Erasmus+ project CUVID, aimed at providing young people a way to present themselves in video-based form. This paper analyses quality standards for video CV platforms. For this purpose, 19 expert interviews with HR managers were conducted to identify their expectations towards video CVs. Based on the analysis of expert interviews, a recommendations summary with technical and user-oriented prerequisites was created, along with requirements and a transferability model for video CVs in the form of the CUVID platform. This paper examines the nexus between economic growth and energy consumption shock, over the period 1990-2020, in Iran. We employ a Bayesian vector autoregressive (BVAR) with new prior functions, which will give results more acceptable consequences than the classical methods to study these relationships. This study estimates the relationship between energy consumption shocks and economic growth within a multivariate BVAR framework by including gross capital formation, Labor and carbon dioxide emission. The multivariate impulse responses to shocks in all the variables are obtained. The results show that, there is a positive impact of energy consumption shocks on economic growth in Iran and this means that energy consumption is crucial for economic growth. Also, the responses of economic growth to one-unit shock of gross capital formation and labor force are positive and the responses of economic growth to the one-unit shock of carbon dioxide emission is are negative. This study examines the relationship between the online labour force and some real economic factors. Since the online labour index is one of the main determinants of the GIG economy (the economy consist of online workers and freelancers), this study also reveals which macroeconomic variables the GIG economy is based on. The aim of the study is to determine the effect of some real economic factors (unemployment, economic growth, inflation) on the count of online platform users. As a result of the econometric analysis conducted with Turkey's data set for the period of June 2017 - January 2021, it has been determined that real economic factors have a statistically significant effect on the count of online platform users. According to the results of the analysis, the increase in unemployment rate and economic growth rate will cause an increase in the count of online platform users, while increase in inflation rate cause an opposite effect. Various analyses have studied the hypothesis of the change in mortality rates, finding, in some cases, a decrease, which has been associated to different factors, including economic growth. This study applies a cross-quantilogram to study the relationship between GDP per capita and the mortality rate for both men and women, taking the United Kingdom as a case study. The objective is to show that there are associations between different quantiles of the variables studied. It is found that there are asymmetric associations, the results show that there is a greater impact of GDP (Gross domestic product) per capita on the mortality rate, compared to the opposite relationship. In the case of women and men, high quantiles of economic growth have a greater impact on reducing mortality rates compared to low quantiles of economic growth, this may be a factor that can be attributed to the highly loaded labor force for males. Targeting output growth is among one of the prime concerns of any economy in both the developing and developed world. Energy utilization and exports are important drivers that would help in boosting production activities in any economy. Therefore, beyond labor force and capital formation, exports and energy utilization can be among the important inputs for accelerating economic growth in any economy. This research is conducted to investigate the linear impact of exports and the non-linear effect of energy consumption on economic growth considering the production function approach in the Spanish economy. After considering the bounds test for a period from 1980 to 2019, the study provides evidence of the inverted-U-shaped effect of energy consumption on economic growth. The findings also expose that exports, labor force and capital formation significantly accelerate economic growth in Spain. These findings are consistent with the diagnostics applied in the study. This research proposes that energy consumption should not be increased beyond a certain threshold for reaping the positive fruits of economic growth. Beyond that cutoff, it will become harmful to economic growth. This study's primary goal was to explain how Ethiopia's economic growth affected government spending. The time series data utilized in the study were gathered between 1980 and 2018. The time series data were subjected to the Johansen cointegration test and the vector error correction model (VECM) in order to evaluate the short- and long-term correlations between public spending and economic growth in Ethiopia. According to the study, both long- and short-term economic growths are positively and significantly impacted by government spending on education. Long-term economic growth is negatively impacted by government expenditure on agriculture, while short-term effects are negatively impacted and considerable. In the long run, investment spending has a positive but negligible impact on economic growth; however, in the short run, it has a negative but large effect. Defense spending by the government has a positive and negligible effect on economic growth over the short and long terms. Both in the short and long terms, spending on health has a favorable and considerable impact on economic growth. According to the study, government spending on the education sector would help to foster the conditions that could result in higher labor force participation rates and, consequently, higher rates of economic growth. Background/Objectives: Many economies are on the trajectory of alternative growth drivers other than conventional capital and labor. Access to credit facilities is a pertinent indicator of economic growth. In line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs-8) agenda, the national goal for sustainable development for most economies and Arab economies is no exception. Therefore, the current study adopts a traditional growth model by exploring the relationship between gross domestic product (GDP) per capita, credit for private sectors, ratio of exports, real GDP, and per labor force participants for selected Arab economies annually from 2001 to 2020. Research design: This study leverages the Fourier Kwiatkowski–Phillips–Schmidt–Shin (KPSS) unit root test and second-generation panel econometrics as estimation techniques, such as Westerlund and Edgerton panel cointegration test, and the use of two estimators, namely the augmented mean group (AMG) and common correlated error mean group (CCEMG), to obtain robust results. Findings: Empirical findings from Westerlund and Edgerton panel cointegration tests validate the long-run equilibrium relationship among the outlined variables. Further empirical results indicate that the share of exports is negatively significant with economic growth in countries such as Kuwait, Lebanon, Tunisia, and Jordan. Additionally, savings and labor force participation have a positive relationship with economic growth in individual countries such as Algeria and Bahrain. As per the panel, there is no significant relationship between labor force participation and economic growth. This indicates that the skilled labor force enhanced economic growth. Maintaining human capital at an optimal level is among the important mechanisms for ensuring steady economic growth. This study aims to examine the impact of human capital on Ethiopia's economic growth. The study used the ARDL model applying annual data for the period 1980 to 2020. The ARDL-bound test was used to evaluate the presence of con-integration between human capital and independent variables. The study also applied the augmented Dickey-Fuller and Phillips-Perron unit root tests to check the stationarity of the variables. The test result presented that almost all variables become stationary after the first difference. Accordingly, the result from the bound test indicated the existence of a long-run relationship between the dependent variable and independent variables entered into the model. The estimated error correction model with a − 0.9528 coefficient also confirmed the existence of co-integration with a high speed of adjustment towards the long-run equilibrium. In the long-run real GDP, education expenditure, health expenditure, labor force, gross capital formation, total government expenditure, official development assistance, secondary school enrolment, consumer price index, drought, and policy change have astable long-run connection. The finding indicates an increasing ratio of health expenditure and secondary school enrollment should be designed, among others, to contain improved human capital in Ethiopia. North Sumatra Province is one of the provinces with the largest population in Indonesia. The population of North Sumatra works in three sectors, namely the primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors. The population of North Sumatra generally works in the primary and secondary sectors. This study aims to analyze the impact of the labor market, regional minimum wage, investment on economic growth in the tertiary sector in the province of North Sumatra. Structural equation model, using Time Series data with a period from 1997-2020. Using the 2SLS (Two- Stage Least Squares) method, and data processing using the SAS/ETS version 9.12 computer program. The policy simulation used was an increase in regional minimum wages, interest rates, workers' undergraduate education, and combined policies. The results obtained are as follows (1) the labor force is influenced by the level of the Regional Minimum Wage, the number of residents, the level of education working, the total absorption of labor, and the labor force last year. The productive population is very responsive to influencing the workforce, (2) employment in the tertiary sector is influenced by the wage level of each tertiary sub-sector, Gross Regional Domestic Product, time trends, and last year's labor absorption rate. The article considers analysing the effect of sector-specific foreign direct investment (FDI) (the primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors) on economic growth in 19 developing countries over the period 2005–2018. Variables such as human capital, domestic investment, financial development, openness of the economy, labour force, and arable land were included as control variables. A robust two-step system generalised method of moments (GMM) was utilised for the analysis of the data. The study found that FDI's growth effect is indeed influenced by its sectoral composition in developing countries. The finding reveals that FDI in manufacturing has a positive and statistically significant influence on economic growth, whereas FDI in the tertiary sector has a statistically significant negative effect on economic growth, but FDI in the primary sector has a negative but negligible effect on economic growth. Lastly, it can be concluded from the above results that the more manufacturing FDI that countries attract, the greater their economic growth will be. In light of this, the countries should provide special incentives like tariff reductions, tax holidays, and cheap-rented land supplies in order to attract more manufacturing sector FDI. It is a global challenge to achieve sustainable economic growth by improving the environment. The present study discussed the role of the financial development sector in achieving sustainable economic growth and environmental quality in South Asian countries from 1990 to 2020 by controlling labour force participation, globalization, industrialization, and the education sector. A feasible generalized least squares (FGLS) panel data econometric technique has been used to check the relationship among the variables. The results show that financial development has a U-shaped relationship with carbon emissions and economic growth. Furthermore, labour force participation, industrialization, globalization, and educational school enrolment significantly increase CO2 and economic growth. This study suggests that the governments of South Asian countries should take steps to increase economic growth. For this purpose, effective supervisory mechanisms of financial development through financial innovation, improving financial efficiency, maintaining financial stability, and reducing the environmental pollution. Shrinkage in China's cities has gradually received increasing attention. Specifically, county-level shrinking cities are numerous and widely distributed. City shrinkage even appears throughout Zhejiang Province, which is highly developed and has stable economic growth. County-level shrinking cities resulting from regional competition can still maintain long-term and stable economic growth, but their economic growth lags behind the whole competitive region. We identified five county-level shrinking cities in Zhejiang Province, and characterized the shrinkage phenomenon in Changshan County using census, nighttime lighting (NTL), and Tencent Location Big Data. City shrinkage resulted from the comprehensive effects of declining traditional industries, backward per capita income, highly skilled labor force shortages, and population age structure changes. Given the shrinkage status of Changshan, we proposed countermeasures and suggestions including aspects of industrial development, urban planning, social governance, and care for the elderly. In Australia, education jurisdictions have responded to this challenge. Consequently, education is now considered critical in developing the skills required to meet these future needs. However, several significant issues have hindered STEM education's advancement. These impediments if not resolved may impact Australia's future STEM workforce and subsequent economic prosperity. This paper seeks to address some of the key impediments identified within the research literature by making a series of recommendations that provide insight into possible improvement to help recalibrate future STEM education initiatives and support Australia's long-term economic growth. Female labour force participation rate (FLFPR) is a very important indicator to assess the gender status in the economy, and it affects the economic growth in positive way. Usually, FLFPR rises with economic growth as more job opportunities are created with structural diversification. FLFPR in South Asian countries poses an intriguing challenge as this phenomenon is not clearly seen. Specifically, the countries like India and Sri Lanka do not show the 'U'-shaped feminization phenomenon with economic progress as experienced by many developed countries. The research shows that along with economic growth many other gender and cultural factors are vital for impacting FLFPR. The present study attempts to find out the impact of socio-economic and gender factors on FLFPR of the selected South Asian countries such as India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Nepal. It makes use of the macroeconomic indicators collated from secondary data. The study shows that there is a high level of heterogeneity in FLFPR within these five counties. It is due to their unique socio-economic structure and the development path which they are following. The study further proves that gender status and gender empowerment policies play very important role in reducing the supply-side constraints and positively affecting the demand-side factors required to improve FLFPR. China’s domestic labor market has limited demand for tertiary graduates due to an unbalanced industrial structure, with a weak contribution to economic performance over the past decade. This study estimates the asymmetric eects of higher education progress (highly educated employed workforce), higher education utilization (highly educated unemployed workforce), and the separate eects of higher education utilization interactions with high-tech industries on economic growth in China from 1980 to 2020. Using a Nonlinear Autoregressive Distributed Lag (NARDL) model, this study finds that the expansion of higher education progress (the employed workforce with higher education) promotes economic growth, while contraction of higher education progress (employed workforce with higher education) reduces economic growth. Likewise, an increase in higher education utilization (the unemployed labor force with higher education) suppresses economic growth, while a decline in the higher education utilization (the unemployed labor force with higher education) promotes economic growth. The study also found that the expansion of high-tech industries and government spending on education significantly stimulate economic growth. The moderating role of higher education utilization (unemployed labor force with higher education) in the impact of high-tech industries on economic growth is significantly positive. This study strategically proposes that China’s higher-educated unemployed labor force can be adjusted to high-tech industries, which need to be developed equally in all regions. This study explored the relationship between population aging and economic growth in 74 developing countries between 1990 and 2019, highlighting the vital role of older workers (as measured by labor force participation of older people) in the national economy. A static panel estimator was used to examine the relationship between population aging, labor force participation of older people and economic growth. Results showed a negative association between population aging and economic growth, but the inverse relationship was mitigated by the labor force participation of older people. This indicates that the marginal impact of population aging on economic growth depends on the labor force participation of older people. The mitigating role of labor force participation of older people remained robust in a series of robustness checks. This study provides some policy recommendations to raise the labor force participation of older people to reduce the negative impact of population aging on economic growth. The present text analyzes the economic growth of Paraná under a long-term view and with the subsequent intention of pointing out possibilities of future trajectory. The task begins with dimensioning some key parameters derived from the history of recent decades and proceeds using it in prospective exercises. Given the declining pace of expansion of the available labor force expected for the years ahead and the productivity status of the Paraná economy, these exercises explore possibilities for the expansion of income and per capita income. Given the average pattern of per capita income advancement recorded in recent decades, it is concluded that a consistent long-term growth above historic trend should call for reasonable increases in the savings rate and especially in the productivity rate. Energy plays a vital role in promoting sustainable economic development in complex societies. This study has analyzed the impact of electricity consumption on three European Union member countries' economic growth, i.e., Portugal, France, and Finland, caring structural breaks in cointegration analyses. The empirical results indicate a positive impact of electric power consumption on economic growth in the long and short run in Finland and Portugal and in the long run in France. The findings also highlight the positive and significant role of the labor force in boosting economic growth in the long and short run in France and Finland. However, it shrinks economic growth in the long run in Portugal. The study discloses the positive role of capital in the long run in the case of Portugal. Similar results are found in all three countries in the short run. Moreover, the study diagnoses a bidirectional causal relationship between economic growth and electric power consumption in Finland in the long and short run and in France in the long run. A growth-promoting or electricity-led growth hypothesis is found in Portugal. By simulating the mean values of electric power consumption, economic growth follows an increasing trend in all the countries. Hence, electric power consumption has appeared an essential factor in elevating economic growth in all three selected countries. Based on these results, this study suggests that the provision of electricity supply ventures may be expanded in the selected EU member countries in order to enhance economic growth. The study also suggests that emphasis should be shifted from non-renewable energy sources to renewable energy sources to ensure the provision of clean energy to all the public under the umbrella of sustainable development goals of 2030. This study explored the linkage between financial development, human resources, and economic growth in a group of twenty-five transition countries during the period 1995–2019. The author applied a range of estimations such as Ordinary Least Squares (OLS), fixed effects model, and two-step GMM methods in order to estimate the empirical research model. Different from previous research, financial development in this paper was a proxy variable that was assessed based on the level of outcomes of financial institutions and the financial market in three aspects: depth, access, and efficiency. In addition, the labor force participation rate and the human development index were employed as the comprehensive proxies for human resources. Generally, financial development and human resources exert positive impacts on economic growth. Financial access and financial efficiency boost economic growth, while financial depth does not. Human development was also documented as the driver of economic growth. In addition, the interaction between aggregate financial development and the human development index demonstrated a robust spur to economic growth.
