- Abstract
During the first half of the twentieth century a series of short fictional stories circulated in Argentine popular culture that were intended to regulate the morals and behavior of young working-class women and that focused on a particular kind of woman: the seamstress. In this article we discuss five of those stories from a cultural history approach with a gender perspective in order to examine how this particular know-how, which Western culture typically associates with women, places them on the margins of respectability when it is carried out in the public sphere and for the market, thus positioning the women who practice it in the eye of social regulations. For the demonstration of fusion power plant technology, DEMO dedicated materials are necessary to cope with the harsh environment of high energy neutrons. For this purpose, the international neutron irradiation facility for fusion materials IFMIF/DEMO Oriented Neutron Source (DONES) is planned to be built in Granda, Spain. In the DONES facility, a deuteron beam hitting the lithium target produces a high energy neutron flux. Due to the high-power density, the windowless target is a free surface liquid lithium flow in a duct with a concave backplate. In order to keep the heat released by the beam within the liquid lithium and to avoid its intrusion in the backplate, a stable configuration of the free surface flow with a setpoint layer thickness of 25 ± 1 mm is crucial. In particular, stable wave structures, so called wakes, which occur from accumulated impurities at the nozzle edge, can cause a critical local decrease in the layer thickness of more than 1 mm. Therefore, it is necessary to better understand the nature of these wakes and to be able to monitor the surface profile to shut down the beam in case of a critical thickness loss, but to avoid unintended shutdowns. In the context of this work, currently available optical sensors were tested on their capability of detecting a specular liquid metal surface at measurement distances of several meters. After an initial selection, two optical sensors were further considered. Experiments with the liquid metal alloy GaInSn and simulations with the software Blender of the selected optical sensors for their capability of measuring distances of liquid metal were conducted. The results showed a significant dependency of the measurement results on the waviness of the liquid metal surface. Nevertheless, it was possible to resolve the wavy liquid metal surface with a sufficient resolution to detect critical wake structures.

Integration of safety aspects in IFMIF-DONES design is a main objective of EUROfusion and European Commission projects. IFMIF-DONES will be a radioactive facility of the first category, and stringent safety objectives must be achieved and demonstrated. A very low acceptable risk for the worker, the public and the environment is the main principle in the design phase. The progress of safety activities is performed iteratively as detailed engineering develops, taking into account the uniqueness of the facility: a high-power deuterons accelerator (125 mA, 40 MeV), a target of flowing liquid lithium, traps for activation products, a dedicated-design module for irradiated samples, a massive shielding cooled room with confinement function, and a number of conventional systems with safety functions. Several phases are developed: (i) identification of sources and materials at risk, radioactive and nonradioactive, subject to potential mobilization, (ii) failure mode analysis and effects of systems, starting at the functional level, and support with probabilistic analysis, (iii) identification of scenarios leading to unacceptable risk if unmitigated, (iv) proposal of layers of defense by means of safety-credited components and design features, (v) deterministic analysis of scenarios in support of requirements, and (vi) definition and demonstration of safety requirements charged to components.

GENDER mainstreaming , *RESOURCE allocation , *SEX discrimination , *EQUALITY , *CHILD care , *GENDER inequality , *PREGNANCY - Abstract
This paper presents an analysis of Law 17/2015, of July 21, on the effective equality of men and women, as the law that governs gender policies in Catalonia. These policies are analysed within the framework of the mandates of the Statutes of 1979 and 2006 and their competence limits. This paper places them in the context of state and regional legislation on equality. It explains the long gestation and approval of Law 17/2015, and the analysis focuses on its purpose, objectives, and structural principles. In particular, it reflects on the implementation of the principle of gender mainstreaming, on how the law responds to the allocation of household and childcare responsibilities, and on its effectiveness, and it assesses if the measures provided for in the law are adequate to fulfil its purpose. The conclusions highlight the importance of this law, but also the difficulties of its challenges. Finally, it is stated that in order to consolidate the ambitious objectives of the law, a clear political will and the allocation of resources are necessary. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: This study analyses the presence of sports journalists in the news stories published by the Spanish digital sports press during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The aims were to establish whether there are quantitative imbalances in the authorship of the news reports and to identify any gender biases that may contribute to perpetuating inequality in the newsrooms of these media companies. Methodology: A content analysis of the four digital sports newspapers in Spain with the largest readerships (Marca, As, Mundo Deportivo and Sport) was carried out during the days of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. A total of 5189 news items were published, and were assessed in this study from a gender perspective. Results: The results reveal an imbalance in the authorship of the news items published during the Rio Olympics in terms of the numbers of stories signed by male and female sports journalists. In addition, a gender bias was also perceived. Women's sports were covered more often by female journalists and the focus tended to be more on national sports or on traditionally female events such as tennis or athletics. Events with a more international coverage, and traditionally male sports, tended to be reported on by male journalists. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

• MCUNED-Plus code implements the Direct-1-Step methodology to the simulation of residual fields in particle accelerator-based facilities. • The new developments improve the accuracy and performance for the simulation of prompt and residual radiation fields from precedent tools. • The Direct-1-Step in particle accelerators has proven to yield very similar results compared to other well stablished methodologies like the Rigorous-2-Steps. The radiation hazard is one of the major aspects of concern in the design of a facility where it exists a risk of exposure to ionizing radiation. The nuclear analysis for radioprotection purposes requires an accurate description of the radiation fields. This is especially true in accelerator-based facilities where several types of particles are producing the radiation fields. Radiation fields exist during the accelerator operation, but delayed radiation may also be significant for a long time after operation ends. The radiation fields of concern present during the operation are due to the secondary neutrons and photons emitted by the interaction of accelerated particles with the accelerator components (beam leakage) or with the target. The radiation present after the operation is the residual photon field produced by activated materials, these materials being activated by both accelerated particles and secondary neutrons. This residual radiation field is relevant in high intensity accelerators like IFMIF-DONES. In order to address these complex radiation transport simulations, the D1SUNED code has been updated and the new code release renamed as MCUNED-Plus. The new developments include improvements in the light-ion transport like the implementation of a variance reduction for the production of secondary particles, and a new kinematics to reproduce the angular distribution of secondary particles emitted after deuteron breakup reaction. The calculation of the residual photon field in accelerator facility has also been improved by allowing to evaluate both light-ions and secondary neutrons induced shutdown dose rate in a single coupled simulation. In the DEMO-Oriented NEutron Source (DONES) facility, it is expected to use a considerable amount of lithium at an average temperature higher than 300 °C. It is well known that lithium can produce exothermic reactions with several media, generating corrosive and toxic (upon burning) reaction products and with the potential risk of mobilizing radionuclides in little amounts. As a result, lithium represents a hazardous material which must be safely handled under normal operation and, especially, potential accident conditions which involve lithium spills and radioactive releases.Although the burning behavior of lithium has been studied for several decades, there is still a wide dispersion of data regarding its actual ignition temperature. Generally, measurements of the spontaneous or induced ignition temperature of a leakage of molten lithium, pool/spray type, depend on several factors such as metal purity, gas atmosphere composition and relative humidity, sample size or geometrical aspects, and even different treatments, apparatus, and techniques used.A dedicated experimental facility, called “LiFIRE”, is currently under development at the National Fusion Laboratory of CIEMAT with the purpose to quantitatively support the DONES safety analysis on the fire risk in case of lithium leakages, based on the Defense-in-Depth principle, i.e. prevention, detection and mitigation.

WOMEN journalists , *EDITORIAL writing , *TWENTIETH century , *JOURNALISTS , *ANXIETY , *FEMALE friendship - Abstract
The turn of the twentieth century witnessed the beginning of an evolution in the model of womanhood, giving way to a transformation in the gender relations that had existed up to that point. Little by little, the "feminine world" inserted itself into aspects of the masculine sphere, including the editorial staff at newspapers. Within this context, this article undertakes an analysis of the correspondence sent by twenty-five women journalists to Miguel de Unamuno in the first half of the twentieth century. The letters were selected from the corpus of female correspondence preserved in the Casa-Museo Unamuno at the Universidad de Salamanca. Using a qualitative methodology, this article reflects on the ideas, anxieties, and concerns that these women journalists shared with the famous Spanish writer. The results allow us to explore the thoughts and lifestyles of the first women who began to work as journalists during Unamuno's lifetime. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Compliance with imposed hydrogen concentration limits in the lithium loop of the DEMO-Oriented Neutron Source (DONES) requires the installation of an yttrium-based hydrogen trap. To determine an appropriate H-trap design, it is essential to have access to a numerical tool capable of simulating hydrogen transport in the DONES lithium loop connected to an yttrium pebble-bed. In the past, a simplified model was created that allows such calculations when hydrogen concentrations in the lithium are low. However, in certain DONES operating phases, the concentration in the lithium is high and in a range where yttrium dihydride (YH _2 ) formation is likely. Due to the anticipated great impact of YH _2 formation on the H-trap performance a new model is developed that includes the mechanism of hydride formation. It is based on a mathematical reproduction of complete pressure-composition isotherms of the Li–H and Y–H systems. Thus, the conditions that trigger YH _2 formation are determined and the variation of hydrogen solubility in different yttrium hydride phases is deduced. An approximate concentration-dependent relationship of hydrogen diffusivity in yttrium is derived and incorporated into the model. Simulations are performed to analyze the dynamics of the concentration decrease during purification of the lithium circuit prior to the experimental DONES phase by varying design parameters of the trap. It is found that hydride formation greatly increases the hydrogen gettering capacity of the H-trap and limits the maximum concentration in the lithium. Indeed, YH _2 formation may be purposefully triggered to exploit its beneficial properties for DONES. Simulations of the hydrogen purification process during the experimental phase of DONES show that the H-trap must be replaced at least every 28 days to meet tritium limits. This work sets the conditions for the required pebble-bed mass of the H-trap at a given temperature to comply with the DONES safety requirements. Finally, the model is validated by numerical reproduction of experimental results.

NEUTRON sources , *PLANT layout , *POWER plants , *MATERIALS testing , *ACQUISITION of data - Abstract
Fusion test facilities are expansive, intricate structures designed to test materials for fusion power plants. For a seamless testing process, it's crucial that the machinery and equipment within these facilities are consistently maintained and promptly replaced if they fail. This necessitates the transportation of large, heavy machinery and equipment through the facility's narrow corridors, doors, hatches, and shipping bays. Taking the DEMO oriented neutron source (DONES) as a case study, we illustrate the complexities of material flow planning in such environments, detailing strategies to navigate these challenges and organize material flow planning efficiently and safely. We introduce a methodology for executing various stages of material flow planning in these contexts and discuss how uncertainties impact the planning process. The primary hurdles include gathering data on machinery and equipment and the facility's layout, converting this data into actionable transport plans and routes, providing precise transport instructions, and verifying the viability of the material flow. We propose and implement a comprehensive solution to these challenges at DONES, encompassing data collection techniques, the creation of a modular transport system, a universal model for transport processes in intralogistics, and a simulation tool for swift and effective collision checks between transport devices, machinery, equipment, and the building structure. A significant insight from this approach is the high value of automating the process, as uncertainties frequently alter data, necessitating regular updates to the material flow plan. THERMAL analysis , *MATERIALS testing , *FUSION reactors , *NEUTRON sources , *TRANSIENT analysis - Abstract
One of the crucial steps in the European Roadmap to the realisation of fusion energy is the design and construction of the Demo-orientated NEutron Source (DONES) facility. DONES is a fusion-like neutron source, based on the International Fusion Materials Irradiation Facility (IFMIF) concept, aimed at qualifying and testing the materials to be used in fusion reactors. The Target System (TSY) is a crucial system as it is the component where the interactions between deuterons and a liquid lithium target, flowing on a solid surface (i.e. the Back Plate), take place to produce neutrons for irradiating the testing materials. In this regard, an investigation campaign has been performed to evaluate the thermo-mechanical behaviour of the DONES TSY under selected steady state and transient loading conditions, in light of the most recent design updates (new bellows and connection systems). The first part of the assessment concerned the analysis of the TSY under the normal operation steady state loading scenario. A detailed 3D FEM model has been set up, considering the newest updates of the TSY geometry and of the operational parameters, and a thermo-mechanical analysis has been launched. Results have been mainly checked in terms of TSY global deformation, focusing on the Back Plate and on the connecting bellows displacements, in order to exclude overlapping with the High Flux Test Module and misalignments with the beam footprint. Afterwards, since the lithium inlet temperature has been increased from 250 °C to 300 °C, a transient thermo-mechanical analysis of the TSY under the start-up loading conditions has been performed to check if it is able to withstand the hotter lithium flow according to the RCC-MRx criteria. Therefore, the reference pre-heating strategy has been adopted, assessing the thermal and mechanical behaviour of the TSY, focusing on the Back Plate. The obtained results are presented and critically discussed, suggesting important recommendations for the follow-up of the design. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

NEUTRON sources , *RADIATION sources , *RADIATION , *RADIATION shielding , *RELIEF valves , *AIR conditioning , *DEUTERONS - Abstract
In IFMIF-DONES, a deuteron beam will impinge on a flowing liquid lithium target, resulting in an intense neutron source. Other radiation sources will also arise due to the interactions between deuterons and the beam facing accelerator components. These radiation fields may cause some negative effects, such as damage to equipment or the generation of residual radiation sources. The characterization and mitigation of all the radiation sources are crucial for a safe operation and maintenance of the facility. In this study, the optimization and/or implementation of some radiation shields located in critical areas is considered to reduce the doses during operation and shutdown. Three scenarios are assessed: (i) shielding optimization of the High-Power Beam Dump for the accelerator commissioning, (ii) shielding optimization for the scraper of the High Energy Beam Transport line and the Fast Safety Isolation Valves, and (iii) shielding implementation to reduce the radiation transmission through Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning wall penetrations. Radiation maps of the biological dose and the dose to silicon are computed, showing the impact of such shielding elements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

During the installation and maintenance phase of IFMIF-DONES (International Fusion Materials Irradiation Facility-DEMO Oriented Neutron Source), several components need to be transported vertically between different floors inside the DONES main building. There are totally four shipping bays inside the main building, two of which are mainly responsible for components transportation. The lifting devices in the shipping bays should be carefully selected based on the requirements of components, including their sizes, weights, shapes, activation status, shielding requirements, human escorts and transportation routes. Considering these requirements and the building information, five possible lifting devices are proposed, namely parallel ropes lift, heavy load storage and retrieval machine, rack and pinion lift, upside-down scissor lift as well as rigid chain lift. The optioneering method is applied to assess the different lifting devices with the help of weighted criteria. As a result, parallel ropes lift, heavy load storage and retrieval machine and rigid chain lift are assessed as the most appropriate lifting devices in the shipping bays for DONES main building. A market survey is carried out on these three kinds of lifting devices. At the end of this paper, the principle sketches of the rigid chain lift inside the shipping bay are shown including the transport platform. • In this article, the flow of materials and requirements on two shipping bays in the DONES main building is analyzed. • Five possible lifting devices in the shipping bays are assessed using optioneering method. • Market research is carried out based on the optioneering result. • Principle sketch of rigid chain lift in the shipping bay is shown in this article. The exhibition of extraordinary examples of female learning, often in the form of gifted girls, became fashionable in the eighteenth century among European aristocracy and courts. It was performed through elaborate rituals that brought together political and religious authorities, everyday society, and intellectuals, reinforcing the prestige of the girls' families and of the nation, in an age of strong cultural and political contestation. This essay considers the most celebrated Spanish female 'prodigies' of the century in a comparative perspective, particularly in relation to their more widely researched Italian counterparts. My aim is to open up discussion regarding the ways in which female intellectual 'exceptionality' was constructed in Europe in the eighteenth century: the different cultural, social, and political circumstances that shaped that exceptionality, the forces at work in defining it, and the possibilities and limits it offered to real women.

Previous research on the antecedents of sexism against women have not considered simultaneously the effects of sex, personality, and cognitive variables (need for closure and critical thinking disposition) in relation to sexism. We evaluated whether in adolescence, these indicators could predict sexist attitudes towards women using structural models. The sample comprised 709 Spanish high-school students (mean age = 16.79). 51.5% were female. Sex (being male), need for closure and critical thinking were the most relevant predictors of sexism. The disposition to think critically is as relevant as the motivational dimension of cognition (need for closure) to predict sexism. Multi-group structural models by sex were estimated, and a moderator effect was found between openness to experience and sexism. We suggest future lines of research to disentangle the effects of personality and cognition on sexism and to guide intervention programs to reduce sexist attitudes among adolescents.

A Demo-Oriented early NEutron Source (DONES) facility for material irradiation with nuclear is currently being designed. DONES aims to produce neutrons with fusion-relevant spectrum and fluence by means of D–Li stripping reactions occurring between a deuteron beam impacting a stable liquid lithium flowing film implementing the target. Given the hazard constituted by the liquid lithium inventory and the potential risk of reactions with water, air, and concrete eventually resulting in fire events, the Target Test Cell (TTC) is filled with helium and the reinforced concrete walls forming the bio-shield are covered with steel liners. A loss of Li in TTC, due to a large break in the Quench Tank, is postulated, and consequences are deterministically studied. With the TTC liner being water-cooled, the impact of the liner temperature rise following a leakage event is evaluated. Two separate MELCOR code models have been defined for the liquid lithium loop and water-cooled loop and are numerically coupled. The amount of leaked inventory dependent on the implemented safety logic and impact on TTC containment is evaluated. The water pressurization pattern within the liner cooling loop is studied to highlight possible risks of lithium–water/concrete reactions.

Wakes appearing downstream of disturbances on the surface of a water flow in a concave open channel were examined experimentally. The investigated channel geometry was similar to the liquid lithium target in DONES (Demonstration fusion power plant Oriented NEutron Source). The objective of the measurements was to analyze the effect of a disturbance on the downstream layer thickness. For measuring the height profiles in the channel, an optical measurement system based on laser triangulation was developed. It was shown that the wake of the undisturbed flow emerged from the nozzle corner, which was in accordance with analytical solutions. For sufficiently large disturbances at the nozzle edge, the height profiles located downstream showed symmetrical minima and maxima on both sides of the disturbance. The wake depth strongly depended on the diameter and penetration depth of the disturbance, as well as the circumferential position in the channel, which yields to a critical wake depth of one millimeter for the lithium target in DONES.

"Avisa quan arribis a casa." "Envia'ns un missatge quan arribis." "No tornis sola." "No vuelvas sola." "When you arrive home, let us know." "Send us a message when you get home." "Don't come back by yourself." These and a thousand more phrases are part of the daily lives of women in cities, where they’ve normalized situations like feeling unsafe walking on the streets, being unable to reach places due to insufficient public transportation, avoiding certain areas out of fear, or being unable to access a restroom in specific situations. In this research project, we analyze the current state of cities and how they should be with a gender perspective, focusing on the description, analysis, and proposed improvements related to public space, housing, transportation, mobility, and services. Through the analysis of three case studies at different scales, such as Lleida, a city with 140,797 inhabitants (2022), Barcelona with a population of 1,636,193 inhabitants (2022), and Seoul with 9,700,000 inhabitants (2021), we identify gender gaps, inequalities, and propose recommendations for the implementation of a gender perspective in cities. The results of the study highlights the importance of considering a gender perspective in planning and management to achieve a more inclusive and justice city in terms of gender.

Treballs Finals del Grau d'Estudis Anglesos, Facultat de Filologia, Universitat de Barcelona. Curs: 2022-2023. Tutora: Gemma López Sánchez, [eng] Women's mental health has been redefined in several ways throughout history. Within the frame of fiction, female characters constantly undergo stigmatized categorizations that present their madness as a product of pathological conditions. Michel Foucault’s Mental Illness and Psychology (1962) illustrates the concept of madness as a social and cultural construction and explains that its conceptions may change according to the values of each historical period. The present paper aims to approach women’s madness and its evolution in history by analyzing two female characters using Foucault’s theory as the principal focus. The selected novels are Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre (1847) and Sally Rooney’s Normal People (2018). In addition, the female characters in these works of fiction will be re-examined and re-located in order to deconstruct the archetype of the Mad Woman and its evolution., [spa] La salud mental de las mujeres se ha redefinido de varias formas a lo largo de la historia. In the framework of the EU fusion roadmap implementing activities, an accelerator-based Li(d,xn) neutron source called DONES (Demo-Oriented early NEutron Source) is being designed within the EUROfusion Work Package Early Neutron Source as an essential irradiation facility for testing candidate materials for DEMO reactor and future fusion power plants. DONES will employ a high speed liquid lithium jet struck by a 125 mA, 40 MeV deuteron beam to generate the intense neutron flux used to irradiate the material samples up to the desired level of displacement damage (˜10 dpa/fpy for iron in 0.3 l) and He production rates (˜10-13 appm He/dpa). In order to rapidly achieve a sound and stable design, a new configuration of the DONES target system based on the so-called integral concept has been proposed as reference solution in place of the former baseline design that envisaged a target assembly endowed with a replaceable back-plate, being the latter solution not yet fully qualified and thus not readily implementable. Moreover, following the outcomes of detailed dedicated analyses taking into account different aspects, the design of several components (Quench Tank, Lithium inlet pipe, Vacuum Chamber, etc.) has been changed. In this paper, a brief description of the current design of the DONES Target System is presented including all the above-mentioned aspects, showing the capability of the system to fulfil the prescribed requirements. Helium flows at low pressure (3 bar) are used to cool the specimen capsules and the structure of the neutron irradiated High Flux Test Module (HFTM) of the DEMO-Oriented Neutron Source (DONES). The flow path includes inlet and outlet ducts with large cross sections, but also mini-channels with gap widths less than 1 mm, where a high velocity low Reynolds number flow influences the temperature of the irradiated specimens. The aim of the study was the achievement of thermal requirements to the HFTM. The large span of Reynolds numbers from laminar to fully turbulent is a significant challenge for the simulation of the complete HFTM. Several turbulence models were tested using experimental results obtained in the ITHEX (IFMIF Thermal-Hydraulic Experiment) experimental facility. Reynolds Stress (RSM) and k-ω Shear Stress Transport (SST) models are able to reproduce the heat transfer within the Reynolds number range between 4500 and 10,000. Simulations show that in case of 100% nuclear heating conditions the prescribed temperature of specimen can be achieved by justification of electrical power and variation of helium mass flow rate for each HFTM compartment. A maintainable test cell (TC) concept, which targets replacing TC key components in case of damages, for the IFMIF-DONES (International Fusion Materials Irradiation Facility – Demo Oriented NEutron Source) facility is proposed to facilitate the maintenance of key containment and biological shielding components, i.e. the liner and the surrounding concrete walls. Unlike the current TC reference design which features permanent liner and concrete shielding walls, the new proposal decouples the components which suffer relative high failure possibilities from the ones which can stay as permanent construction structures. The former ones, that are expected to be replaced in case of damage, include removable sections of the liner and part of the biological shielding materials. Fundamental mechanical solution of this configuration is briefly described, and technical feasibilities are preliminarily analyzed for the aspects of independent liner enclosure structure, maintenance scenarios using remote handling systems, etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

• Deterministic Accident Analysis for DONES licensing are performed with MELCOR fusion version. • Lithium Loop and Accelerator models are developed for relevant scenarios. • Candidate safety systems, requirements and metrics under control are identified. • First scenario: beam shutdown and margin to lithium disappearance are addressed. • Second scenario: fast isolation valve and water reaching the target are addressed. Safety assessment is a key issue for the licensing of DONES facility, the DEMO-Oriented Neutron Source. A first phase of the safety assessment includes Failure Mode Analyses of systems to identify postulated initiating events (PIEs), while deterministic accident analyses are lately performed to estimate source terms in radiological hazards. In addition, the deterministic analyses are also the basis to identify safety class structures, systems and components, and to establish the operational range of system parameters as well as the actuation of the protection system. In this paper two accident scenarios, previously identified as PIEs, are explored with the fusion version of the MELCOR 1.8.6 code. A loss of flow (LOFA) in the lithium loop due to the trip of the electromagnetic pump and a loss of vacuum (LOVA) in the accelerator beam duct due to containment rupture have been studied to provide a preliminary estimation of the available actuation time for detection and mitigation systems with a particular focus on the beam shutdown system and isolation of the vacuum duct. Institutionally organized religious life in the United State is undergoing a dramatic transformation. While individual beliefs and practices remain relatively stable, institutional affiliation and participation has declined dramatically. In this article, we explore the religious "Dones"—those who have disaffiliated with their religious congregations but, unlike the Nones, continue to associate with a religious tradition. Drawing on a unique dataset of 100 in-depth interviews with self-identified Christians, we explain the "push" and "pull" factors that lead a person to intentionally leave their congregations. We find that a bureaucratic structure and a narrow focus on certain moral proscriptions can drive people away, while the prospect of forming more meaningful relationships and the opportunities to actively participate in social justice issues draw people out. From these factors, we show that an "iron cage of congregations" exists that is ill-suited to respond to a world where religious life is increasingly permeable as people enact their spirituality outside traditional religious organizations. We conclude by questioning whether the spiritual lives of the Dones are ultimately sustainable without institutional support. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The necessity of a neutron source for fusion materials research was identified already in the 70s. Though neutrons induced degradation present similarities on a mechanistic approach, thresholds energies for crucial transmutations are typically above fission neutrons spectrum. The generation of He via 56Fe (n,α) 53Cr in future fusion reactors with around 12 appm/dpa will lead to swelling and structural materials embrittlement. Existing neutron sources, namely fission reactors or spallation sources lead to different degradation, attempts for extrapolation are unsuccessful given the absence of experimental observations in the operational ranges of a fusion reactor. Neutrons with a broad peak at 14MeV can be generated with Li(d,xn) reactions; the technological efforts that started with FMIT in the early 80s have finally matured with the success of IFMIF/EVEDA under the Broader Approach Agreement. The status today of five technological challenges, perceived in the past as most critical, are addressed. These are: 1. the feasibility of IFMIF accelerators, 2. the long term stability of lithium flow at IFMIF nominal conditions, 3. the potential instabilities in the lithium screen induced by the 2×5 MW impacting deuteron beam, 4. the uniformity of temperature in the specimens during irradiation, and 5. the validity of data provided with small specimens. Other ideas for fusion material testing have been considered, but they possibly are either not technologically feasible if fixed targets are considered or would require the results of a Li(d,xn) facility to be reliably designed. In addition, today we know beyond reasonable doubt that the cost of IFMIF, consistently estimated throughout decades, is marginal compared with the cost of a fusion reactor. The less ambitious DEMO reactor performance being considered correlates with a lower need of fusion neutrons flux; thus IFMIF with its two accelerators is possibly not needed since with only one accelerator as the European DONES or the Japanese A-FNS propose, the present needs >10 dpa/fpy would be fulfilled. World fusion roadmaps stipulate a fusion relevant neutron source by the middle of next decade, the success of IFMIF/EVEDA phase is materializing this four decades old dream.

Today, indigenous women of the Ecuadorian Amazon are emerging as "new social actors", and their struggles are gaining increasing visibility at national and international levels. Based on a digital ethnography carried out during the pandemic, in this article I analyze the role that women defenders of the rainforest play today in the protection of their territories, threatened by neo-extractivist policies, and of their rights. In this sense, the socio-political exclusion that has historically excluded them from decision-making spaces, leads them today to develop and claim autonomous forms of organization in defense of their "bodies-territories". Discrimination; Gender equity; Oncology Discriminació; Equitat de gènere; Oncologia Discriminación; Equidad de género; Oncología Background Following a European Society for Medical Oncology Women for Oncology (ESMO W4O) survey in 2016 showing severe under-representation of female oncologists in leadership roles, ESMO launched a series of initiatives to address obstacles to gender equity. A follow-up survey in October 2021 investigated progress achieved. Materials and methods The W4O questionnaire 2021 expanded on the 2016 survey, with additional questions on the impact of ethnicity, sexual orientation and religion on career development. Results were analysed according to respondent gender and age. Results The survey sample was larger than in 2016 (n = 1473 versus 482), especially among men. Significantly fewer respondents had managerial or leadership roles than in 2016 (31.8% versus 51.7%). Lack of leadership development for women and unconscious bias were considered more important in 2021 than in 2016. In 2021, more people reported harassment in the workplace than in 2016 (50.3% versus 41.0%). In 2021, ethnicity, sexual orientation and religion were considered to have little or no impact on professional career opportunities, salary setting or related potential pay gap. However, gender had a significant or major impact on career development (25.5% of respondents), especially in respondents ≤40 years of age and women. As in 2016, highest ranked initiatives to foster workplace equity were promotion of work–life balance, development and leadership training and flexible working. Significantly more 2021 respondents (mainly women) supported the need for culture and gender equity education at work than in 2016. Conclusions Gender remains a major barrier to career progression in oncology and, although some obstacles may have been reduced since 2016, we are a long way from closing the gender gap. Increased reporting of discrimination and inappropriate behaviour in the workplace is a major, priority concern. The W4O 2021 survey findings provide new evidence and highlight the areas for future ESMO interventions to support equity and diversity in oncology career development. This article contrasts the discourses that founded the Argentine Nation in the 19th century with those proposed by Gabriela Cabezón Cámara’s novel The Adventures of China Iron, where she switches the foundational narrative from Martín Fierro’s perspective to his wife’s, China Iron.

DONES is planned to operate on a continuous basis with only two beam stop periods per year for maintenance. The planned operational availability is 70 %, which calls for a carefully analyzed preventive maintenance. The purpose of the research is to propose a realistic and comprehensive logistics and maintenance plan. All the maintenance activities are included in a Maintenance Matrix based on the Plant Breakdown Structure of the project. This is the basis for the creation of a maintenance plan that will lead to a Work Schedule. Special mention within this matrix will be given to those Maintenance operations that must be included in order to comply with regulation. The need of replacement of components impose some requirements on the dimensions of architec tural features of the main building such as doors, airlocks, corridors and shipping bays. To enable these re placements, the flow of materials has been developed and analyzed by an intralogistics simulation with AnyLogic. The results of this simulation lead to modifications on either the building or the components such that the replacements are feasible. The periodic replacement of an activated component has been analyzed using FMEA methodology resulting in proposals for the plant equipment designers as well as the remote handling equipment designers. Virtual reality simulations are used for a staged approach to the maintenance operation. The simulation of the HEBT scraper helped to define in detail each step or the maintenance operation. This tool has proven to be very useful to prompt changes in both the plant equipment design and the remote handling equipment. Also, the procedure of the operation itself can be refined and optimized. The conclusion of the research activities is the contribution to the definition of the building, plant equipment and achievement of the target availability., European Commission 101052200
