Abstract

The article presents a study on the congenital heart defect (CHD) screening of euploid fetuses to determine the presence of cystic hygroma colli and the value of nuchal translucency (NT) measurement. It states that retrospective analysis was carried out to examine 12, 910 euploid pregnancies between January 1995 and August 2007. The results show that 3.4 per thousand falls under the major CHD incidence and among the fetal CHD cases, 55 were diagnosed prenatally.

Abstract

The article presents a study that analyzes the effect of choice of reference curve on the quality of screening for growth abnormalities. The study measured biometric data scores which include the head circumference (HC) and abdominal circumference (AC) before being converted to Z-scores. It concludes that Z-scores are a simple tool for reference curve evaluation to optimize sensitivity and specificity screening for fetal growth abnormalities.
