To solve the research goal, the authors proposed to consider the thesaurus of the concept of "antifragile in the global economy" by revealing the categorical-conceptual apparatus, namely the concepts of "economy", "globalization", "antifragile" and "global economy". To delimit the defined definitions and further level the existing contradictions in the categorical-conceptual apparatus, the authors propose to visually demonstrate the relationship between the above-defined terms and the concept of " antifragile in the global economy " using graph-theoretic structures. In the work, with the help of analysis of modern sources, the authors attempted to provide their definition, considering all the pros and cons of the existing interpretations. The given definition differs from the existing ones by considering the critical features of antifragile, expanding the concept of the global economy, considering its purpose, and revealing the meaning of the economy. The study's authors revealed the economic content of global problems as a component of economic development to reveal which problems contribute to the development of the world economic system. The work analyzed the dynamics of the GDP volumes of three developed countries, namely France, Japan, and the USA, by constructing a diagram based on GDP indicators from 2014-2022. The impact of global financial crises on the world economic system is considered, namely the impact on super-large investment companies, whose financial crisis is the detonator of the global crisis. Abstract Does the rigorous protection of patents advance or retard economic development? Two decades ago, a new global standard of intellectual property swept across developing and industrialized nations through the implementation of the WTO's TRIPS Agreement. Many years later, the issue of patent rights remains contentious. In this paper, we focus on the effects of patent rights systems on total factor productivity growth, using dynamic panel regression analysis for 70 countries from 1965 to 2009. We show that the effects of stronger or more rigorous patent systems are insignificant for productivity growth in both developing and industrialized countries. Why does the strength of patents appear to have no impact on productivity? Classic economic theory suggests that stronger patent systems incentive innovative output with important spill-over effects for productivity and growth. We offer an alternative explanation using data from the Economic Complexity Index. We find that while patents rights are increasingly irrelevant to productivity, the relationship between economic complexity and productivity is highly positive and significant. Our results are consistent with the contributions of the absorptive capacity theory in that they suggest it is not the discovery and ownership of novel products and processes at the innovative frontier that induces productive growth, but the ability to adapt, replicate and diffuse along the international productive chain. The rapid industrialization and modernization of Japan in the first decades of the twentieth century preceded both the creation of 'development studies' as an academic sub-discipline and popular awareness in the West of development issues. Japanese achievements were therefore not analysed at the time according to specific expectations or models of development, as would be the case today, but rather were interpreted in the context of more general Western concepts such as 'civilization', 'modernization', and 'progress'. As Japan was the first non-Western country to adjust its economy and society successfully to modern modes of production, this process of assessing the changes taking place in Japan generated ideas that represented some of the first Western interpretations of non-Western development. This paper excavates some of these by sampling a broad variety of British contemporary source materials, including newsreels and radio broadcasts. It concludes that the process of interpreting Japanese social and economic change between 1900 and 1941 led to the creation of a number of paradigms of non-Western development. Two of the most important of these were the Darwinist-inspired idea of evolutionary development; and revolutionary development, which was posited as the opposite of the concept of natural progress. The article examines the character of the post-World War II nature conservation movement in Japan during a time of rapid economic development and social change. The author examines the social and political factors that have made the conservation movement relatively weak. The allegedly low level of ecological awareness among Japanese people is connected to the nation's process of urbanization during the 20th century. Social hindrances to joining Japanese non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are outlined. Political factors affecting nature conservation include the government's interest in reclamation projects, a weak Japanese Environmental Agency, and no serious environmental impact assessment system.

This article explores Japan's relations with Lusophone Africa over the past 60 years. It asks what factors have propelled Japan's shift from a foreign policy based on inertia to a more proactive one. Arguably, colonialism and postcolonialism linked to the Cold War politics had a negative impact on Japan's relations with the Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP) and Africa as a whole; this contrasts with Japan's process of ‘Africanisation’ after 1990, reflective of changing external and internal circumstances. The question arises as to whether Japan's relations with the specific PALOP states, and with the group as a whole, have been influenced by, or have had influence over, Japan's long-term approach to other African states. Lastly, what characterises Japan's approach to the PALOP? Findings show mutual gains beyond the simple exploitation of natural resources towards broad-based sustainable growth. This article compares the evolution and characteristics of Chinese and Japanese aid, assessing the impact of their aid policies in sub-Saharan Africa from the 1950s to the present. It argues that China and Japan's aid programmes share more similarities than dissimilarities. Both pursue aid strategies that spread allocations across a region rather than concentrating upon specific countries. The article seeks to clarify the following questions. In what way are Chinese and Japanese aid strategies different from each other and Western donors? Should their aid be seen as a form of South-South co-operation that provides an alternative to the West's hegemony in Africa?
