Abstract

The aim of the deuteron spin structure (DSS) experiment is to obtain polarization observables in dp elastic scattering and in dp breakup at large CMS angles (> 60°). The dp breakup reaction has been investigated by the scintillation detectors placed at the vicinity of the Internal Target Station (ITS) of Nuclotron. Calibration data have been obtained at the deuteron energy of 300 - 500 MeV. The main goal of this report is to present the calibration procedure of the ΔE - E detectors. Calibration coefficients are used to recover the deposited particle energy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

There are still discrepancies between theory and experimental data in the polarisation observables of dp → ppn reaction in the low and intermediate energies, despite of significant process in the development of theoretical models which include three and more nucleon forces and relativistic effects. The data of dp → ppn reaction have been accumulated at 300, 400 and 500 MeV in the Nuclotron (Dubna, Russia) and partially processed for some kinematic configurations including few in which possible relativistic effects can appear. Kinematic simulation in the framework of ROOT and GEANT4 package have been performed before data processing. Part of the preliminary results are obtained in the form of energy deposit correlations of the two arms working in coincidence and few in the form of kinematic S curve. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

dp breakup reaction occupies large phase space. Two and three nucleon forces and relativistic effects can be investigated under various detector configuration. The results of simulation of dp breakup reaction in energy region from 300 to 500 MeV are presented. Preliminary results obtained at 300, 400 and 500 MeV of deuteron energy at some detector configurations at Nuclotron as well as future plans in investigation of relativistic effects are discussed. Abstract

Analyzing powers measurement Ay, Ayy and Axx for the d - p elastic scattering were performed at the Internal Target Station of Nuclotron at JINR at Ed = 880 and 2000 MeV. These data are necessary to obtain the information on the 3NF structure and the relativistic effects. They are also important for development of the efficient deuteron beam polarimetry at high energies. The results of the analyzing powers at Ed = 880 MeV covered the angular range from 60 to 140° in the c.m.s. are compared with several theoretical calculations. The preliminary data on the analyzing powers measurement Ay, Ayy at Ed = 2000 MeV are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Recent results on the spin effects in deuteron inclusive breakup and deuteron-proton elastic scattering obtained at the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energies at JINR are reported. The experimental data have been obtained with the use of a high-energy polarized deuteron beam at the Synchrophasotron-Nuclotron Accelerator Complex. Abstract

Data on the tensor and vector analyzing powers ( A yy and A y , respectively) in the fragmentation of a 9-GeV/ c deuteron on hydrogen and carbon nuclei at high proton transverse momenta are presented. These data are compared with the results of relevant calculations performed within light-front dynamics by using various deuteron wave functions. Abstract

New data on the vector (Ay) and tensor (Ayy) analyzing powers for the reaction 9Be(d, p)X at a primary deuteron momentum of 5 GeV/c for a proton emission angle of 178 mrad are obtained by using the synchrophasotron of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR, Dubna). The experimental data on Ayy are analyzed within the approach based on light-front dynamics, the relativistic wave function obtained by Karmanov and his colleagues being used for the deuteron. It is shown that, in contrast to what one has from calculations with standard nonrelativistic deuteron wave functions, all relevant data can be explained in this approximation without resort to additional degrees of freedom.© 2005 Pleiades Publishing, Inc.
