Splenic torsion is an emergency condition whose clinical presentation could be referred to as acute abdomen. A 6 year old male intact German shepherd dog was evaluated for acute onset of vomiting, inappetance, depression and lethargy in the course of 36 hours. On the basis of history, physical examination, radiography and ultrasonography (USG), a primary diagnosis of generalized splenomegaly was made and splenic torsion was suspected. After surgical de torsion of spleen, the animal recovered uneventfully. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
