A dual functional molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) coated paper (MIP-CP) sensor was firstly proposed for rapid fluorescent (FL) and visual analysis of norfloxacin (NOR) in aqueous solutions. The sensor was fabricated via a sol-gel technique, and characterized by FTIR and SEM. The extraction capacity, selectivity, detection limit, and linear range of the MIP-CP sensor were studied by an FL spectrophotometer. The modified paper sensor showed good selectivity and high extraction capacity for NOR and its structural analogues. For FL analysis of NOR, the linear range and detection limit were found to be 10–100 ng/ml and 2.59 ng/ml, respectively. The visual determination of NOR (under UV light) based on the MIP-CP sensor was also explored, and the determination limit was found to be 0.1 μg/ml. Finally, the proposed methods were successfully applied to the direct determination of NOR in pharmaceutical preparations and cross-validated by UPLC. The MIP-CP sensor might be a potential platform for antibiotic determination due to its multifunction and good analytical performance. The poly[(9,9-dioctylfuorenyl-2,7-diyl)-alt-co-(1,4-benzo-{2,1′,3}-thiadiazole)] (PFBT) was carboxyl-functionalized to prepare polymer dots (C-PFBT Pdots), which served as a self-ECL emitter for producing an extraordinary ECL signal without any exogenous coreactants. The C-PFBT Pdots–modified electrode captured the substrate DNA and further hybridized with a ferrocene (Fc)-labeled DNA. The ECL emission of C-PFBT Pdots was quenched by Fc (a signal off state). After the DNAzyme was added, the DNAzyme-substrate hybrids were formed through hybridizing between DNAzyme and substrate and the Fc-labeled DNA was released. In the presence of target Pb2+, the DNAzyme-substrate hybrids could be specifically recognized and cleaved to release the DNAzyme and Pb2+. Ultimately, the released DNAzyme would further hybridize with the substrate for producing the DNAzyme-substrate hybrids and then were cleaved by the released Pb2+. As a result, the DNA walking machine was generated and the substantial Fc was away from C-PFBT Pdots to obtain a signal on state. Such a strategy achieved a sensitive detection of Pb2+ and the detection limit was as low as 0.17 pM. Moreover, making this ECL biosensor for an intracellular Pb2+ detecting, a convincing performance was achieved. The adverse reactions caused by 6-thioguanine (6-TG) in anti-cancer treatment are closely related to the dose, leading to the urgent need for clinical monitoring of its concentration. In this work, a highly reproducible free-standing liquid membrane (FLM) surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) substrate was developed to detect 6-TG in human urine and serum quantitatively. Briefly, a prepared sample was adjusted to pH 2 and mixed with concentrated core–shell bimetallic nanoparticle (AgcoreAushell NP) suspension. The Au/Ag ratio of the AgcoreAushell NPs was optimized. Then the mixture was formed into an FLM using a custom mold. The relative standard deviation (RSD) of the experimental results can be stabilized below 10% (n ≥ 10). The R2 of the calibration curve in the range of 10 ~ 100 μg kg−1 was 0.988. In addition, the limit of detection (LOD) (3σ/k) of 6-TG was 5 μg kg−1. A novel method was developed for the sensitive and visual detection of p-phenylenediamine (PPD) via immobilizing the target specie PPD on dialdehyde cellulose membrane (DCM) followed by the reaction with salicylaldehyde. The obtained solid fluorescent membrane (S-PPD-DCM) emitted yellow fluorescence under 365 nm UV light. DCM was not only used as a solid matrix but also played a vital role in the enrichment of PPD. Experimental variables influencing the fluorescence signal were investigated and optimized. Under the optimum conditions, a detection limit of 5.35 μg L−1 was obtained and two linear ranges were observed at 10–100 and 100–1000 μg L−1, respectively. Moreover, the fluorescence of the resultant membrane can still be visualized by naked eye when PPD concentration was 50 μg L−1. The detection of PPD was hardly affected by the coexistence of 1 mg L−1 of o-phenylenediamine, m-phenylenediamine or p henylamine , exhibiting good selectivity. The developed method involved in a two-step Schiff base reaction and enhanced the fluorescence emission via blocking nonradiative intramolecular rotation decay of the excited molecules. It was applied to determine the PPD in spiked hair dye with satisfactory results. This work presented a new fluorescence method for the determination of m-phenylenediamine (MPD) based on the reaction between MPD and acetylacetone. The formed compound Hacac-MPD exhibited strong blue fluorescence emission under 365 nm excitation. Its fluorescence intensity had an excellent correlation with the MPD concentration Under the optimal conditions, the developed method gave a linear range of 10–600 μg L−1 with a low detection limit of 4 μg L−1. Furthermore, the coexistence of common inorganic ions and other aromatic amines had hardly influence on the determination of MPD, demonstrating high selectivity. Additionally, the MPD in spiked water samples and hair dye samples was successfully detected by the developed method, and the recoveries were 97.5%-101.6% and 98.3%-98.9%, respectively. • A UV image detection system was designed for rapid visual detection of UV absorption gas. • It consisted of a high quantum efficiency UV camera, multiple different wavelength filters and gas regulators. • The UV images of SO 2 were obtained at different concentrations and temperatures. • The detection limit for SO 2 was as low as 4 ppb. We demonstrate a multi-wavelength ultraviolet (UV) imaging detection system for gaseous pollutants with absorption characteristics in the UV band. As a proof of concept, the detection of sulfur dioxide (SO 2) was used as an example to develop a method based on UV imaging. The critical component of the system is a highly sensitive CCD array (1024 × 1024 pixels) UV camera with high quantum efficiency (QE) in the UV range (>30% transmission at 200–240 nm, >50% transmission at 240–400 nm), multiple different wavelength bandpass filters (270 nm, 280 nm, 300 nm, and 310 nm for SO 2), environmental condition controller (temperature range 278–318 K, relative humidity range 35–85%), and a compact and robust design (362 mL of the gas absorption cell with a 4.2 m optical path length). The advantages of this system are convenient, fast, and can realize visualization. The system was applied for detecting SO 2 in various conditions (different concentrations, temperatures, and humidity).
